How Do You Say "Death Cross" In French?

Tyler Durden's picture

It's not been a great couple of years for French President Hollande, with joblessness soaring to record highs almost unabated since he took office, he has now been forced to scrap his "super-tax" plan to solve the socialist utopia's problems. But joblessness is the symptom of the 'death cross' that is occurring in France as bankrupticies soar to record highs and firms' profitability craters.

The French Death Cross...

And as Bloomberg's Maxime Sbaihi notes, French households continue to use rising real wages to increase savings rather than consumption. There’s no reason why this should change as surveys indicate that consumers remain worried by the near-term outlook.

Savings are created out of less consumption, not over-production.

So they must be exporting (something) and reducing their imports (as a country) if they are saving (as a country), not necessarily producing more (than in any other given time).

The firms that aren't being able to sustain this trend are the ones who bankrupt. It's deflation (the over-production occurred in the past, not now). And if Draghi, Holande, Rajoy, Tsipras... etc stay quiet, it's OK.

People are saving (even the ones who are paying their debts are saving), postponing expenditures, causing deflation. This must not be "battled" by banksters. Banksters must adapt to it (as they should be just another service providers, like my uncle the gardener).

1. By 'savings' do you mean some statistical conclusion created by .gov backwardsass accounting legerdermain or are their bank accounts getting nominally larger?

2. Is debt rising even faster than inventories and/or expenditures?

3. Not paying the bills means money in the bank.  Default means not paying it next month and the month after that and...

4. Is overproduction being counted as savings?  You know: we are saving all this stuff to sell at some undisclosed later date..

5. It's bullshit?  Lying cause shit got serious?

The chart clearly shows that if it was properly streched back to 1999, one would see very clearly, the launch of the Euro, immediately resulted in the beginning of the slide into the abyss.

THEN, the Liberal Democrats, CUT THAT TIME IN HALF!!!

Which came after a couple of buildings were flattened to facilitate the successful launch by a fiat transfer from west to east.

And there you have it...

wwi & wwii placed the french, english and american's as the world's supremeOh's.

russia splits and decentegrates into nothingness in 74 short years, only to rise like the proverbial pheonix from it dustbin ashes of history-- a wiser an leraned student of tyme?

sadly germany was treated by all as a pawn by all including russia until the berlin wall, and along comes Ms.?erkel.

today, france, britain, and the ussa are virtually?, broke. period!

but, germany is solid as is china and russia with the middle-east gravitating ever so slowly to the asian block via turkey as the transmission node to the great continental divide? the common denominator is their culture with germany on the cusp.

in 2014 ~ 4% of the german population were turkish speaking muslims, never once causing problems. never! the turks and germans have always been close. there relations with germany in wwi [aligned with germany] and wwii [helped the german's which churchill wanted revenge badly but was out-manuvered by the usa to stand down.

germany is close to abandoning the euro at all cost, rather than wait for the slow-cooking-frog next door to stink-up the north-- and, england... that's but a incestual-gene away from the genome-castle`lab of caligula.

the balkan's are in the past, as are the propagandist of saudi arabia, leaving a weak link kuwait sandwich from iraq/iran, and a yemen/bahrain/libya's 'farewell-to-arms' leaving the uae&qatar knitting a new yarn for detente on the winning side of the equations when a fistfull/barrel of us$dollars won't but a gallon of crocodile-tears.

it's gonna be one big abort, abort... abort when abdullah kicks the bed soon, with an 80 yr old replica clone!?!

germany sees the light as does all of eurasaia--when one goes for the exits first out wins...

turkey was indeed involved as were the kurd's in 1915, but? the kurd's of south-eastern turkey were about to see a land-grab by a russian led armenian invasion on a vast amount of the ottoman's land. armenian wanted to take advantage during the war

the turkish army got wind of the betrayal as the ottoman empire was on the winning side of the war as a member of the axis with russia having internal turmoil and always at the ottoman's throat fighting with the allied forces.

basically it was the turkish kurd's who did the slaughtering with arms ftom the turkish military and brass.

Addendum:   Armenian's wanted out of Ottoman rule and were tied closely to the Russian's who btw were constantly fighting each [Turkey v. Russia] other over the Balkan's & Caucasus, along with the Bosphorus etc.,Crimea... it was in late 1914 that the Russian's and Armenians formed a secret alliance. Both  Russia and Armenia fought against the axis. The Ottoman's found out in 1915, and thus this horrific slaughter prevailed. Again, the Turkish Kurdish Army was mostly responsible for the subsequent massacre that followed. Indeed these kind, gentle inobtrusive Kurdish turks of today.

Rising real wages in Europe. Fairy tales got a tail. Rising income is only true for a few. Unemployment including those non-registered rise, lots of people are working for a lower salary now than what they've had  4-5 years ago. Costs for living and sub-taxation is been increased by 15-25 percent, partially more. People can't spend the 'imagination of more' and savings (if there are any) of most people aren't increasing.

Even translating word by word "death cross" (la croix de la mort), it's meaningless.

And I remember that a few years ago, a "profitable" company mean a company that pays its employee. Very profitable meant 1 or 2% revenues. It was a time of less than 5% unemployment.

Now, a non-profitable company is a company that makes less than 15-20%. And below 12%, factories are just closed.

What would mean something is that we exit of all this EU and USA stuff, close the stock market, put a decapitatory tax on stock profit, and get back to what France really was: an Independant, Industrial country.

Euro is dead, so let's opt out without a revolution, if possible.

death cross would be "croisement mortel", but that is not the point.

I much prefer living in a nation of savers than in a nation of debtors, and as far as I know, proper capitalism stems from accumulated savings. Thus, the problem of France is not the savings themselves, but as in Japan, their affectation. In Japan, flocks of savers were directed to JGB, whereas in France it was towards housing. Neither kind helps grow innovation and competitiveness, hence our real problem. Historically, because their unwillingness to take risks with their savings, french savers have been raped multiple times (Panama canal, Russian debt offloaded to retail, devaluations), and this time will probably ends in the same way. Let's just hope next time savings won't be as misdirected (by who, by the way?), and that savers will go to productive assets...

A question to ask your boss who talks to the boss of France :

How can France do what it did in Libya, disseminating the moslem plague all over the Sahel, destablising Libya whose stock of arms now flow from the south all the way to Mauritania, all the while supporting the petromonarchies of Arabia; who are very Wahhabist in their fundamentalist beliefs; and not be aware that France's very foreign policy is creating a draft of wahhabist type sentiment on its own soil?

This is a political statement being made by rabid locals sympathetic to wahhabism, just like those Iranian Ayatollah minded terrorists made it in the 80s, signalling to Mitterrand they did not like that France sold its Exocets to Saddam, the invader of Iran.

Now the French Republic is getting hoisted on the petard of its own foreign policy plays, by being caught in the Libyan state destruction cum Wahhabist support syndrome.

We keep saying the Republic does not recognise either race or religion as criteria to determine our collective values.

Yet we turn a blind eye to what the geo-politics of selling arms to our "friends" and buying oil from them entails.

Houston, we have a problem in Paris now !
