No but now that I realize this posting was an informercial to buy more product, I'm now enraged.
If 'more engaged' means don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes, I'm in.

The only thing I'm trapping here is rat, cat, pigeon, and Puerto Rican.
Pigeons are OK. Rats or nutria are omnivores and are passable. Cats are carnivores and should be avoided, if possible. I haven't resorted to cannibalism yet, so I don't have an opinion on Puerto Ricans.
To each his own. Especially if you live 100 miles from anywhere.
For the other 99.99% OTOH, some other survival skills may be more useful. E.g. a craft or trade that would have been useful in the era of 1900-1980 (before computers came along).
I would extend those skills all the way back to the neolithic and everything in between. All of it is too much to learn, but at least learn the basis for some of it so that you can at least spend a few days muddling through something to maybe get a workable solution. For example, if supply chains break, and you needed clothing, how would you tan a hide without modern chemicals? If your ammo was all gone, and all you had was a bow and arrow, where would you get a broad head? If matches were in short supply, how would you make a fire? How would you make fiber for clothing, rope and bow strings? What about soap in a world where infectious disease is running rampant due, in part, to lack of hygiene? The simple ability of knowing how to bend wood to make things could come in really handy. So could blacksmithing. I don't know all of that stuff because, like I said, there is too much to learn, but I am learning what I can. I now know that I can make a bow using hand tools though, because I've done it. I can run out of ammo for good and still have a ranged weapon. I'm going to mess with atl atls eventually due to their simplicity, as well as their ability to kill some very big things.
Another thing that people don't think about regarding SHTF: Waste disposal. Seriously, a lot of disease can be prevented by proper disposal of your shit. If you have a garden/field for crops, you want to bury it in the portion that you're letting go fallow, IMO. Put an outhouse over a hole, and move it however often it makes sense to do so, burying the holes as you go. It's replacing some of what you took from the earth while simultaneously putting it where it won't make people sick.

Re waste disposal. Look into 5 gallon bucket composting toilet. Simple, cheap and works fine.
Septic systems still work just fine when the grid is down. Here in my neck of FEMA region X, there is plenty of rainwater to collect.

I believe I should get your videos. Mr took me out for a resiliency lesson and I did not do as well as I had hoped. We went out at dusk and shot rabbits on our property. Mr dropped 3 cleanly but I was pathetic. The ones I did hit, he had to finish. After so many frustrated admonishments and instructions I realized I simply sucked ( one problem is I have terrible night vision) and no amount of coaching was going to help. Your course may save me from wearing the " hopeless loser" cap forever.
We do have good supplies but Mr considers the abundance of wild rabbits here as a secondary protein source if all goes in the crapper. Now if I can just get over the fear of contracting tularemia. The joys of being too damn over educated. I suppose if one is dying of starvation those stupid fears go away.

Tularemia and possibly plague. I don't know if its range extends to California, but we have it here. At least with plague, you can torch the fur before you get close enough for the fleas to jump on you if it isn't the season of hard frosts.

I got interested in "prepping" around 2008. We have earthquakes in my state, for a long time there were ads on the radio begging people to prepare, some clever slogan about having two weeks of stuff on hand in case of emergency. Ha ha never hear those anymore.
I started with firewood, replenishing every year so there are always 10 cords on hand. Bought three big bins of emergency supplies, probably $1000 on all that stuff (tarps, candles, medicines, filters, etc etc etc). As for food, I used to see at Costco cans of powder that could keep families alive -- something like $2500 and you get enough powder that will keep 5 people alive for a year, just add water. YUCK! My UPS driver said he was delivering tons of this stuff to local families I never bought powder food.
There are great improvements in packaged, shelf-stable food. I found some packaged meals at a local supermarket, gourmet recipes in retort pouches for about $5.50 per meal. Chowder, seafood stew, etc. Boil it in the bag, rip open then serve over rice. Nearly as good as home made. I contacted the manufacturer and worked out a deal, they shipped me 5 different varieties, 1100 pouches total (fresh pack two+ year shelf life) at $3.35 per pouch direct sale. Each pouch, with steamed rice, is two meals. Shipped me a half pallet via truck, shipping was about $150. So for under $4000 I got 1100 big meals. I eat them all the time, and great to have in case of emergency, just a type of insurance policy for my family. You all should look into what's new in the retort pouch food deal.

A slow grinding poverty is what awaits most of us. Some will get there all at once with medical bills or the loss of income. If the supply chains break and food and medicine cannot be delivered to the east and west coasts things will sort out pretty quickly.
Cuba went through this some years back and the average Cuban lost something like 20 lbs. The inner cities may devolve under food riots. Riots are not a revolution. Our real danger will come from some slick salesmen who promises us a solution. He will have a snappy uniform and ready scapegoats. Never go quietly to the trucks or trains. If the wolf comes to your door, shoot him. You cannot negotiate with a wolf.
The idea of the republic will never die. It simply needs to be refreshed from time to time. Arm yourselves. Lay in some food. Hide and watch.
I have a question. If the national government breaks down and the country begins to split regionally or even by state, no longer dependent on a federal system, what is to keep a foreign government from invading? Say for example Alaska. What if the Soviet Union decided they wanted Alaska back or China annexed California.
It seems to me that while we can prepare for some sort of breakdown in social, political and economic order it could all be undone without a coherent federal system. You might survive independently for a few months or even a year, but longer term no one would be allowed to keep a farm and live independently in those circumstances. It might not even come from outside the US. Power always finds a way ...

There's the question of NATO. If the US breaks up, like the USSR did, the other NATO nations would still come to aid so as to let Russia know that NATO still exists...out of their own self-interest.

The US would lose its veto power in NATO and we would be invaded. Our military assets just don't disappear and hopefully we still have patriots in the military that would maintain control, engage and protect (along with an armed populous). Could be the reasoning behind the purging of our military.
Those assets require extensive training and knowledge to operate. I can't just walk up to an aircraft carrier and start her up.
The federal government, US military and military-industrial-complex DOES NOT defend you, it defends the predators who call themselves the federal government and the military-industrial complex.
Also, the assumption people would not fight an invading horde is absurd. The problem is, they will not fight the horde who took over from within, because they're morons.
The notion a country without the largest and most powerful military in the history of mankind will be invaded is completely absurd, especially one separated by oceans on both sides (east-west) and non-threats on both sides (north-south). The evidence is... the 150+ countries with essentially no military, and virtually unarmed population.
The predators who call themselves the federal government are the worst, most destructive pack of predators the world has ever experienced. To have ANY desire WHATSOEVER to keep them around is insane. To rid the earth of them might be the most positive event in the history of mankind.
I might add, humans don't need the state governments or county governments or city governments (or even fake pseudo-governments like HOAs) either.
In other words, humans do not need to be slaves. Those of us who know how to live without masters will be happy to show everyone else how much easier and more pleasant it is to live without masters.
If the federal government vanished, the world would be a vastly better place. And the transition would be much smoother than you imagine.
