How The Oligarchs Spend 'Your' Money
Via Jim Quinn's The Burning Platform blog,
Ultra-expensive automobiles accounted for a massive slice of the global luxury goods market last year. Across the world, the super rich spent almost $438 billion on fancy cars in 2014. Personal luxury items like perfume, jewellery and clothing were the second largest market, accounting for $278 billion. The value of the world’s luxury goods market has increased steadily in recent times, little surprise given the increasing number of billionaires across the globe. All in all, people splurged over $1 trillion on upmarket items throughout the year.

No joke , watch the tribe doing something to the market at 3:59 pm today
1) Technically, it's not "your" money, it belongs to the Federal Reserve. They rest of us are just allowed to use it, after the bankers get done with using it first.
2) Technically, it's not "money", it is an irredeemable debt note.
Speaking of "irredeemable debt notes"
Russian Minister of Agriculture said today that if Greece exits the EU, the Russian sanctions against it will be dropped immediately. He also said that Russia will be glad to start building its relationship with newly independent and sovereign Greece as a mutually beneficial partnership of equals.
BTW, isn’t the new gas pipeline “Turkish Stream” going to the border of Turkey and GREECE? ;-)
Looney

3) Technically, you can't "spend" this "money" that is "yours" because there is no exchange of value in the transaction. Something inherently worthless cannot be honestly exchanged for something of real value.
Other than that I have no problem with the premise of the article.
Gold is due for a good smack down, it's Paper Time !
Not if you consider why it is up so much and also think the markets are in good shape
I have no idea why this printed twice
Not if you consider why it is up so much and also think the markets are in good shape
Yeah, gold is looking a little too much like a flight to safety option right now. Can't have that, so it's due for a really good whack. If not today, early next week.
It looks like the agreed-upon peg is $1,200 or so, and alarm bells ring over $1,220. We're pushing $1,280, so I'd think we see at least a $50 move down in the next five trading days unless the contagion really gets out of hand (and I surely hope it does, I want to see central bank buildings getting looted before I die.)
Let's see what news unfolds over the weekend. Given the choice of holding stawks or gold over the next two days, I think I'd choose the bright metal stuff
Gold makes a really shitty pillow, but I'd sleep much better resting my head on it than a sack of cash or stawks.
If I had to bet that gold is over v. under today's close this time next week, I'd go with the statistics and pick the under. I hope I'm wrong.
Nobody really knows, unless you're a fat ugly central banker
According to the Exaro website, in the UK the rich are paying considerable sums for pedophile activities, including protection payments now to law enforcement to cover up past misdeeds, including child murders.
Sadly, it probably doesn't cost that much.
Well the cost of doing business of any sort, is a fab tax write off in the revolving door universe. Also notice how any time there is a war, FF or riot their fancy toys, trinkets (and my water bowl) are not in the destruction zone?
Wait what, no hookers and blow? I call bullshit.
Tyler you should post one about how the sheeple spend their debts

You beat me to it!
When your self employed and no longer under the W2 weekly forfeiture scheme and have to write the quarterly estimated check, plus the 15.3% self employment penalty tax the blinders suddenly come off,
OMG that’s a lot of money ….for what?
But Wait there's more!
My county Tax assessor office in Oregon just sent me an official STATE form to itemize all my personal business property for a business property tax assessment.
1. the instructions explicitly say property not 100% for personal use MUST be included as a business asset.
2. But my accountant says for IRS filings equipment not 100% for BUSINESS use CANNOT be claimed for exemption.
So Catch 22.
Example I am a work from home architect. So a tape measure or laptop computer, or Carhart jeans I buy for work, but use at home CANNOT be claimed as a tax exemption for the URS but MUST be claimed as a taxable business asset?
WTF?
Next
Most of this stuff I bought AS AN EMPLOYEE years ago, before I moved to Oregon, with POST TAX income, and already PAID State Sales TAX on the items. (already double taxed stuff), Now it’s considered a taxable asset of my business because I moved to Oregon and hung out my shingle?
Example, cool architecture coffee table books I bought for fun while i working stiff employee architect on the dredge projects when based in Chicago like the Generic version of Pepto Bismol factory remodel. Shelves and Shelves of Books I purchased over several years just so I could lust over what "real" architects got to do.
Well 10 years later I get to pull out those books for real clients, and NOW Oregon claims they can tax them as a business asset?
WTF?
and if I do not fill out the form by March 31 its a 50% penalty on whatever they want to assume, and 100% penalty by August.
So I am bound to disclose, and if I falsely disclose I am liable, and I am bound to disclose even stuff that is in the "grey area" like a tape measure or Carhartt jeans which the IRS will NOT let me claim.
WTFWTFWTF???
Sorry just had to get that out…..

I figure anybody who buys a million dollar car http://www.thesupercars.org/bugatti/bugatti-veyron/ must have an extremely small penis.....
Oh you just made me realize why I will never have a million dollar car , because I have a big one (thank you lord, you made me poorbut you blessed mewith a BIG cock )
You have great amounts

Pointless exercise, unless you drive on unoccupied highways. If you are stuck in traffic, your speed is that of everone else, and being in a "low slung" vehicle means "everyone else" is looking down on you, surrounded by higher vehicles. NOT the most pleasant sensation, even for the non-claustrophobic.
These convert to RVs with very little effort - http://bringatrailer.com/wp-content/plugins/PostviaEmail/images/Stalwart_Alvis_Amphian_For_Sale_Front_0_resize.jpg and you'll NEVER have those "awful plebs" looking down at you. Something to consider?? :-D
I used to work at an offshore performance boat manufacturer ("cigarette" type boats). Folks would fly to the factory to watch their boats being built... $500K-$1mm boats. It was nothing for them. They drop $500 like you or I dropping $0.50 to get a Coke.
Where you get Coke for fitty cent?
He's talking about the new 2 oz cans.
ooohhh..those hedonic, adjusted for inflation cans! got it. should be lower soon...Aluminum is going down the toilet too.
At the Caddy Shack (at least until Lew had a losing streak at the track)
50 cents to get a coke? U stationed in Panama?
give me some of that cheap blow lol
But but their the job creators.
Pffft!
Reminds me of Reagan speeches about "trickle down" ECON. You could almost see the bulge where the puppeteer's arm was shoved up inside his coat........
"Trickle down economics" is more commonly known as "economics".
Is that the trickle down effect?
No, they are pissing on you.
Personally, I'm tired of being trickled on...
See Jim, that's your problem right there. It's all their money (well, it's not really money), and we are their people. The best slaves are those who think they are free. The sooner you accept that little fact, the better off you'll be. Now go sit in your barcalounger, eat your monosodium glutamate filled Cheetos, have a piss water domestic king of beers, and enjoy the big game.

I got his cell phone digits..maybe I better check up on him? He's been hitting this pretty hard for a long time, maybe just took a break to reset I hope..
Don't blame him (?) for logging off, been contimplating doing the same thing lately.
Just seems like a lot of the really good commenters have gone from ZH since I started coming here.
Seems we are in the Bill Murray Groundhog Day phase of this worldwide economic train wreck. No need to say anything any more. At least until the next shoe drops.
On the same tangent, I spent years listening to the news every morning. Lately, I have been tuning it out and going back to audio books and music.
The few who have billions of the billion's wealth.
The banksters need to repay us.
My job is to wake up the people, enrage them with the cause, and who of their condition, and then turn them lose on the thieves and intruders of their wealth, Liberty, and dignity. This I live, dream, and will.
You keep saying we need to be repayed but you do not seem to realize there is no real and valuable money to repay you with. It is all the illusion of wealth, promises of a future transfer of wealth. I assure you we will be repayed...when the money becomes worthless.
Nominally we will be fine.
Actually, I am trying to get people to realize that all the banksters' wealth was stolen from them, and that all debts supposedly owed to the banksters are illegitimate, and null and void. All bankster loan-money has been stolen from the debtors, people, in the first place--we are being loaned OUR wealth. The people do not owe the banksters, but the banksters owe us, the people.
We should, and shall, demand they repay us. Repayment can come in the from of gold, silver, and/or heads.
"It is all the illusion of wealth, promises of a future transfer of wealth. I assure you we will be repayed...when the money becomes worthless. Nominally we will be fine."
That is not true, because the banksters have stolen not just our wealth from today, but from tomorrow as well. They have literally stolen our seed corn from our silos, leading us to believe that there is still hope in next year's harvest, that they have already consumed. But they will gladly loan us some seed corn, our seed corn, with interest to tide us over.
They, the banksters, will continue to insist on living off of our backs, and so will continue to employ violence and thugs to do so--we will not be fine. We will not be fine until we remove the banksters, put them to the guillotines, and Restore our Lives, Liberties, and Property, under sound money.
The banksters need to repay us.
BS...only peons cruise....the rich just buy the Island and erect barriers to keep the unwashed out....
At least that's what I plan to do...someday...has anyone found the billions I lost in the seat cushions?
This chart is missing the two most important upmarket items: light-weight gold bullion ingots and miniature giraffes.
ahh...the great promise of Trickle Down economics....I mean talk about job creation!!!
Wealthy people spend way too much money on "super cars".
A friend of mine bought an old Ford Fairlane for $6K a few years ago. It was someone's project car and they ran out of money before they got it done. It was in pieces. My friend's a good mechanic, and he put the car back together. He didn't bother to spend the time and money to make it "show quality" - he just bolted everything back together and made it very mechanically sound and roadworthy.
That is the most-fun car ever. It's got an enormous V8 engine, dual exhaust, four speed stick shift, and a red primer paint job. He blasts around drinking and smoking without worrying about the upholstery. He spins the tires and spits tar & gravel all over Hell without worrying about the paint job. If anything breaks he just fixes it himself for very little cost. The car's a beast and he hasn't broken anything major yet despite driving it very hard.
The need for a new paradigm :
A specter is haunting the world economy -- the specter of job-killing technology. How this challenge is met will determine the fate of the world's market economies and democratic polities, in much the same way that Europe's response to the rise of the socialist movement during the late 19th and early 20th centuries shaped the course of subsequent history.
When the new industrial working class began to organize, governments defused the threat of revolution from below that Karl Marx had prophesied by expanding political and social rights, regulating markets, erecting a welfare state that provided extensive transfers and social insurance, and smoothing the ups and downs of the macroeconomy. In effect, they reinvented capitalism to make it more inclusive and to give workers a stake in the system.
Today's technological revolutions call for a similarly comprehensive reinvention. The potential benefits of discoveries and new applications in robotics, biotechnology, digital technologies and other areas are all around us and easy to see. Indeed, many believe that the world economy may be on the cusp of another explosion in new technologies.

NO, not hufflepo!
So far every technology I've seen has created jobs both for those who maintain the machines/software and the people now who can do a job using that tool who beforehand... maybe had little or no job skills and so no job.
How much did they cummulatively spend on lawyers? Surely more than 1T...
Why should they buy Lawyers when they bought the courts long ago?
In 2014 banksters spent more on lawyers than politicians and judges combined. Hitmen would be cheaper, which should give you some idea why WW3. How much did they cumulatively spend on increasingly unconvincing propaganda?
