was gold at $1900 not running? silver at $50 not running? if you did not sell then, when will you sell? another run comming? Only trade it when a new fiat is created? when you have to trade it to eat? deflation is a sign that the CB have lost control. can they keep printing even tho they lost control? yes and in that case another run maybe on its way. but if the CB's are going to survive they will need to remove the cancer they clearly know that is growing.
It ran to those levels and was quashed and kept down ever since. The run wasn't topped at $50, it was stopped at $50. I had no intention of selling at any price. Some people aren't in this to convert it all to cash at some peak.
I can't seem to save any money in a bank, it's too easy to withdraw. Silver makes you stoic since it spends most of its time wallowing in the mud. So I still have some, which I'll keep for emergencies or the fiat crashes.

I see two risks for gold - one being the global financial crash like 2008/2009 where everything (including gold) goes down because of huge position unwinding and liquidation.
The shorter term one is that the combination of ECB QE and Grexit - which is driving gold now - does not turn out as expected - meaning that the mo-mo buyers dump their newly purchased paper gold.

The problem is that silver was over USD 40 in 2011...and when gold was USD 1800 it was supposed to be next stop 5000
(and I'm sure I remember '50000 - if you can get it at all'), and where is it now?
Gold bugs should be grateful that the last buyers were central banks, who have zero financing costs and can't be sold out.
Otherwise gold would certainly be less than 1000 (50% down from high), and maybe back to the long term range (excluding 1980's and recent bubbles) of USD 250 to USD 450.

I'm a stacker, been doing it for a few years now. About the length of time I have been lurking on ZH. I have read every generic comment and advice one can offer on AU/AG here and elsewhere and I still have no clue how this story ends. I just want to make some extra retirement money or survive the SHTF/Econopocalype. In the 2nd scenario guns and foodstuffs will likely be the better choices I have made. I am too stupid to play in the markets with the connected and/or pros and just smart enough to know that fact. Call me a gold bug, stacking on faith that at some point metals will outshine fiat. Say a prayer for us stackers if you're bent that way. :-)
