Greece's New FinMin Warns "We Are Going To Destroy The Greek Oligarchy System"
Over two years ago, we first highlighted Yanis Varoufakis' perspectives on the destruction of Greece and Europe's bogus growth pacts. Since then he has grown in both reason and popularity as his no-nonsense discussons of the mis-design of the euro (and potential solutions) have made him the front-runner to be Syriza's new finance minister. Never one to mince words or play politics, Varoufakis tells Channel 4's Paul Mason in this brief (but chilling for Brussels) interview, what his party would do if it gets into government in Greece, and admits the prospect of power in Europe is "scary". As he sums up, "we are going to destroy the Greek oligarchy system," and with it, we suspect, much of the narrative that holds the fragile European Union together...
As Varoufakis previously explained,
The Troika is trying to suffocate us and to put pressure on the democratic choice by telling us: either you follow our requirements, or you will be cast into hell.
They actually have their own threats as exogenous circumstances of the situation, as they are simply part. They are trying to terrorize the Greek voters.
Doesn't seem like much middle-ground there.
But if no agreement is possible, or found?
So I say this clearly: “Death is preferable. “The real deficit in Greece, it is a dignity deficit. It is because of this lack of dignity that we have accepted stupid measures and this has fueled a vicious cycle of indignity which itself maintains discontent, fear and resentment. All this is not good. We must regain our dignity, spirit, October 28, 1940 made ??us say “no” to the ultimatum of Mussolini’s Italy. At this time, we do not have the means to say “no” and yet we did. (Note: 28 October 1940, the Greek dictator Metaxas refused by a “no” legendary submit to the Italian ultimatum In the war that followed, the Greeks pushed the Italian army. ). We must recapture the spirit of 28 October.

1) How will the US politicians protect themselves in the coming collapse?
They will audit the central banks and come to the conclusion they have abscond with the nations gold, been lying and deem them to be a criminal organization, and as such confiscate all assets.
2) Why did the Swiss suddenly scrap its ceiling of SFr1.20 to the euro on the world? Could it be payback for the past arm twisting from the west?
On Aug. 29, 2013, the Tax Division of the U.S. Department of Justice announced a special voluntary disclosure program aimed at a large group of Swiss financial institutions. The program will allow an eligible Swiss bank to avoid criminal prosecution in the U.S. in exchange for detailed disclosures and, for some banks, the payment of monetary penalties.

Thinking out loud.
Greece has the Olympics and shortly after is broke.
Russia has Sochi Olympics and shortly after the Ukraine goes to shit.
Seems as if the world media are being polite in the coverage.
Reminds me of the Brits lowering the flag in Hong Kong, and scarpering.......
Japan is the next country who will receive Olympics ?
So Japan explode after Tokyo 2020 !?
Correlation is not causation. The Brits handed over Hong Kong because the lease had expired and they honoured its terms. I suppose the US would have stonewalled and engaged in conflict with China?
Smells like teen spirit.
Pay your bills, Borat. You ran up daddy's credit card now pay the piper.
Nothing but deadbeats and cheaters there. Oh so unfair we spent billions of euros and now they want it back.
Why stuff billions of Euros into a black hole in the first place, aye? To prolong the ponzi and keep the bankrupt banking system alive (another not so stealth bailout), that's why. It bouth some time just like in the US with the various QEs, twists etc., but the invitable end can't be averted. The global fiat ponzi in it's current form is doomed.
Greece's corrupt oligarchy, like other European states, got sucked into the Goldman Sachs Usury cycle to the detriment of its people, who are NOT deadbeats and cheaters but people with families, jobs and hopes for a better future. Instead they have been swindled out of their heritage by financial crooks and now are being blamed for being the victims.
I hope they shit all over Europe.
I think you speak for many of us posting on here.
Hopefully Greece is back leading the world in the 'democracy' stakes.
Last nights win - tremendous and historic.
Pray God the rest of Europe follows.
If Greece has to leave the EUSSR - Putin is waiting.
They will not be on their own.
I'll second that
Nail gun "suicide" or mountain climbing "accident" in 3, 2, 1...
Geez, do I LOVE when he said: "surplus recycling mechanism". since he's a state funded professor in a starving country, can I recycle his salary?
sounds like a man with balls . good for him lets get this party started and f the oligarchs everywhere .
Yanis Varoufakis is amazing! If you haven't seen his interviews on Max Keiser, do so now :) It took a while for the anti-oligarchy resistance to produce something worthwile, but this is going to be fun :D :D
Democracy is going to be reinvented in Greece?
Every once in a while you need to get rid of the old oligarchy. The old Greek knew that very well. And while you are at it, do the same to the rest of the Euroligarchy.
I think that guy does not want to exit Euro, when he speaks of oligarchty it gets me wonder if what he means is destroy whatever is left of Greek traditional society and nothing greek will be left to Greeks...
What is the voting/abstention rate?
correct, Greeks don't want to exit the EUR. when he speaks of oligarchy he speaks about the local Greek oligarchy
for example all those who profited by cozy arrangements with the Greek state, be it in radio, TV, banking, transportation, etc. etc.
what he means is what happened every time a Greek budget was done, met the approval by all peers of Greece and...
... dozens of amendments to the budget laws were made afterwards with an eye on this or that cozy deal with near-monopolists, i.e. dirty deals of the crony oligarchic kind
and he means also a certain group out of the rich that somehow manage not to pay taxes, also "riding" on the many "riders" of those laws
only after all this he means - but only perhaps - that group of rich Greek that live in London and manage big chunks of the Greek economy from there
This is what a true representative should be like!
"My greatest fear, now that I have tossed my hat in the ring, is that I may turn into a politician. As an antidote to that virus I intend to write my resignation letter and keep it in my inside pocket, ready to submit it the moment I sense signs of losing the commitment to speak truth to power."
...
- Are you hopeful for Greece and Europe's future? Is that why you've entered the political fray?
- Let me be very precise on this. My heart is hopeful. And my mind is pessimistic. How about that?

You can tell exactly how far this is going to go by finding out who owns the lead. They'll be living in caves soon eating each other if they stay in the Eurozone.
if he is to his word, I hope he's got some serious protection against the fascists. Flying lessons without parachute, nail gun to the head, etc. Langley sponsored specialty.
Surprised how many comment support a commie dictatorship just to fight Bankster dictatorship.
One fuck you with huge debt, then the other fuck you statism, government confiscation.
Talk about cognitive dissonance here right now on ZH.
Have asked yourself why Greek peoples are doing bankrun ?
Hint: it's not because of the Troika, they fear more the commies than the Troika itself now !
In fact, most of the Eurozone countries and the UK run a mixed economy of socialism and capitalism, it's just not quite the same capitalist model as the one whose writ runs in the US. In Europe the quality of life for most people is much better than for most people in the US and also better than in the UK, which has it's collective political head jacked up the duff of Washington. There is a reset coming in world financial affairs and it's unlikely that any of us will be mere spectators; casualties possibly, but in the longer run we'll all be beneficiaries providing you manage to either jail or hang a lot of the crooks on Wall St and we do something similar with those in the City. If the price of this paradigm shift is a Greek govt that is strongly left wing, I'd suggest it will be a price worth paying in the short term ansomething that is unlikely to persist in the longer term.
Varoufakis is not a communist, and he's quite anti-totalitarian. Maybe you should stop playing the "left vs right" game and support those who fight against oligarchy, just like leftists support Ron Paul and others.
Those of us who detest oligarchy and support true democracy and freedom, should stick together, no matter what economic school we come from.
Lesson to bankers:
Never take "dignity" as security for a loan. Your debtor will eventually want to get it back.
Lesson to borrowers:
Always offer your "dignity" as security for a loan. You can take it back at any time.
Never underestimate the steps that corrupt officials will take to maintain power. This includes manufacturing social unrest, military coup attempts and attacking civilians under the veil of the opposition. Always look to the facts, weigh the evidence, and decide for yourself.
Is the Elite world-rape fest in Davos still running?
The Davos sewarge system will be straining its capacity limits tonight.
The oligarchy ain't destroyed till it's lying on the ground in front of a firing squad.
I wonder if the Greeks have the gumption?
What's more important is what they are replacing it with. It ain't capitalism, that's certain. They're going to rebuild Greece with the same economic brilliance that made Venezuela, and Cuba raging powers of success.
Goosebumps
