"Out Of My Face Please" - Why Are US Soldiers In Mariupol?
Amid the devastation of yesterday's Mariupol artillery strikes which killed or wounded dozens, which was promptly blamed by both sides on the "adversary" - and has been proclaimed by both 'sides' (more on that later) as more violent than before the truce - an 'odd' clip has emerged that appears to provide all the 'proof' a US intelligence officer would need to surmise that US military boots are on the ground in Ukraine. As the following clip shows, a Ukrainian journalist approaches what she thinks is a Ukrainian soldier (since he is wearing a Ukrainian military uniform and is carrying an AK) and asked him as they run through the battlezone, "tell me, what happened here?" His response, which requires no translation, speaks for itself.
Forward to 2:36 for the 'Ukrainian' soldier's response:
Here is a clip which focuses just on the exchange in question:
With daily reportage of the 'invasion' of Russian military forces into Ukraine territory (admittedly unconfirmed by NATO), this clip raises many questions about American involvement in the ongoing conflict - most of all, was the US involved in the "staging" the Mariupol massacre, and if so it is clear who should be blamed (and isolated).
Of course, US troops, or at least mercs, on the ground, should not be a total surprise, since just 2 months ago, we discussed the hacked US documents that revealed the extent of undisclosed US "lethal aid" being given to the Ukraine army. What was apparently left unleaked was the part of the US aid also includes US-speaking soldiers. The only question is whether US taxpayers are paying their wages.

You're completely and hopelessly wrong. who signs your paycheck, little buddy ?
ESADIAF mother fucker
Definately North American.
A bit of a drawl and [not] north-eastern.
Agreed. I think he's from the south - Tennessee or Georgia. THe fact that he says "please" is also a clue.
no Britisher ever spoke like that
NE accent? Huh? He doesn't talk like a guy working at the port authority. Just a plain old flat Midwestern accent.
He's definatly American, I'm leaning toward a East Coast Metrosexual accent.
>>> I'm leaning toward a East Coast Metrosexual accent.
A good way to put it. An edeucated, non-Boston, non-NYC eastern accent, which sort of smears into mid-western.
I am am a Brit, He is US. what really gives it away is that he is 'DUMB' enough to open his mouth.!!!
That is an American accent.
I am amazed anyone could mistake this for British. Have you never listened to an Englishman, or Scot, or Welshman, or Irishman? The difference is stark.
And no, not Kiwi, Aussie or SA. Again, for any who know these accents, it is OBVIOUS.
And to my ear not Canadian either.
Probably NE USA. Speed of delivery, cadence.
As a former brit, that absolutly isnt any british accent.
My thoughts were of SC or some where close, but i havent been to the eastern US in many years so i may be wrong.
American. He says "out of my face out of my face, dude"
He's an American - and dirty, rotten bastard.
I hope gets captured alive - to show all the world how Obama, and the RINO neo-cons are nothing but war criminals.
-30-
This former Michigander heard no accent, so I'd say midwesterner.
Definitely an American accent...and behavior. The question wasn't asked in English, but all he could manage was a knee-jerk response in English. A contractor, no doubt.
Lets see how the manipuledia spins this.
They'll not need to. That which does not get reported does not need to be spun.
Besides, they are too busy reporting nonstop on important things that truly matter to the world, like if footballs are at 11.25 PSI or 12.75 PSI.
Or if Kim Kardashian's butt implants are inflated to 12 psi or 13 psi.
Kardashian?
Definitely 13 Pounds per Sphincter Invasion.
Or maybe it's 130. I'm sure she'll tweet and let the world know.
The correct answer is that there are American troops almost everywhere in the world, so why not Ukraine?
150 countries last year according to Toms Despatch.
Russians joke that the accent is West-Ukrainian.
Nuclear Strategie against Russia?

US accent ?
Definitely.
Summary execution if caught by the seperatists.
Are these guys US army regulars? Because if they are mercenaries they will get LEGALLY shot on the spot.
A lot of these guys who speak English, were killed in Donetsk airport.
They did not expect that the Russian smart enough to undermine the entire top floor of the building and they will be buried under the rubble of concrete. Amen!
Not if they're LEGALLY part of the Ukranian army, and he was wearing a uniform.
Research the legal status of troops in the French Foreign Legion.
Execution? IMO, the propaganda value would be waaaay to high for that. Maybe after he's been trotted around for a while, but that would have some real PR legs.
I'd prefer any Academi cunts caught have their ballbag cut off with a blunt hacksaw blade - beat the fuck out of fake ISIS beheadings if posted on YouTube...and someone gets a great novelty tobacco pouch as a bonus.
Roger that.
Yes Frenchy, just like Charlie Hebdo was a false flag
God, the people on this site are insane.
Turn on ZNN or FAUX to get the troof.
You'll feel better.
Not saying I know exactly what happened but there are glaring holes in the official story. Can you prove it wasn't a false flag or do you take the MSM at face value?
The question is not can I prove it was NOT a false flag. That's not how it works. I am not making the claim it was, so I am under no obligation to disprove a claim I never made. However, if you think it was a false flag, it is up you to prove is WAS - not speculate about how it could be, but give actual proof. It would then be nice if posters here could engage in reasoned argument about said proof to explore the validity of the hypothesis and supporting evidence presented.
I will state again, and back to my original topic, there is NO evidence here the native english speaker is a US soldier. There are so many other more likely options that the headline is simply unwarranted.
Mr.Ignorant :
Here's the footage from early March in Donetsk that had the UK Daily Mail asking whether American Blackwater type mercs had been deployed on behalf of Kiev:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/…/Are-Blackwater-active-Ukraine-…
http://www.zerohedge.com/…/400-blackwater-mercs-deployed-uk…
Germany's Der Spiegel and Bild am Sonntag (check German spelling) later reported that 400 US private military contractors had been deployed to Ukraine's southeast
Here's the infamous video of the 'I'm an American citizen guy' getting beaten by militia reportedly filmed in Kharkov back in April with a description:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R23NEPvGgw8
Here's a 'Ukrainian National Guardsman' politely speaking fluent Italian to a group of Italian journalists in late April/early May. Kiev Twitter trolls claimed this was merely a Ukrainian migrant who returned from Italy to do his duty for the homeland. You decide.
Polish mercs or advisers purportedly killed in shootdown of IL-76 near Donetsk airport in June already referenced by RI in October, along with formation of Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian joint brigade. Shootdown of IL-76 was accompanied by a lot of enraged tweets in NATO circles, one wonders if they knew Polish advisers were on board and were killed when the plane was destroyed with all hands:
http://russia-insider.com/…/polish_mercenaries_and_arms_flo…
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-28951324
Note that Poland has denied having any troops fighting alongside Kiev forces and has insisted it would punish any Poles fighting as mercenaries for Kiev as this contradicts Polish law banning mercs without government authorization.
BBC admitting September 1, 2014 that Poles are fighting in volunteer capacity, while also reporting on foreign volunteers for Kiev's battalions and DNR Vostok Brigade:

15:55-16:54 video allegedly uploaded by DNR a week ago after capture of Donetsk Airport
Polish flag captured by DNR forces at Donetsk International Airport ruins with 'solidarity with Ukraine' written in black marker on the front.

Mr. Duffus:
A "Blackwater type" is NOT a US soldier, but a private contractor. The headline on the artice says US soldiers are on the ground, and there is no proof of that. Could he be a contractor. sure, and I never claimed otherwise. I bet there are mercenaries and contractors there, but this is no proof of US soldiers, and that is the point.
Insane? Not a popular comment but true enough that it doesn't deserve that many reds, unless it is the insanes downing him.
Brooklyn accent
Nah Boston Acccent
Neither one, he's not American. British, New Zealand, or Australian.
The guy didn't sound Russian or Ukranian that's for sure.
We do not know he is American or Englishman. But we do know that it is not a Ukrainian or Russian soldier. What could be the questions?
In addition, this interview was done on the territory controlled by Kiev. This channel and this woman reporter, also under the control of Kiev. Do you think that Kiev could make a provocation against their own interests?
"We do not know he is American or Englishman. But we do know that it is not a Ukrainian or Russian soldier."
You think Russians or Ukrainians are too stupid to learn English well enough to fake a fucking accent?
Good God you are as stupid as a sack of busted rocks.
THAT IS NOT A ENGLISH, AUSTRALIAN, CARIBBEAN, OR NEW ZEALAND ACCENT.
I know because:1) I have travel extensively around the world and 2) I am a cunning linguist.
Only an idiot like you, think that Russians have power over territories, which are controlled by the Kiev junta.
And only an idiot like you may think that Russians have power over Ukraine television, which is under the control of the Kiev junta.
Yes we do know he is American. WE know. you're nuts. they don't have anything else to do for 12 hours a day for four years but practice with a tape recorder to try to fake an American Accent. / ? Jesus.
How many langauges do you speak? Are you able to speak your second and third languages fluent enough to pass as a native speaker?
Once you pass a certain age, it is very, very difficult to learn to speak a foreing languge without any trace of your native-language accent. This has not much to do with if you are smart or not. Adults can learn foreing langauges well, but speaking like a native is a different story.
Well, it wasn't a Texas accent or an Ukrain for that matter.
Definetely. proper speech because he's above grunt level; he's an operator. 100% USA accent.
New York city accent.
Let no crisis go to waste... right? Fucking douche bags
U.S. OUT OF UKRAINE!!!
Nice one, Tyler. Good for you. I've been waiting for this; I knew they were there. Never mind how; but I knew.
You know that there are American cocks up your ass and down your throat, you spit fucking lying bastard.
Cruising for a bruising?
I was leaning Aussie or Brit. The 'please' accent, plus US troopers arent that proper ( at least I and every guy I knew said fuck every other word). But Im sure some accent specialist out there knows more.
' Get that fucking shit out of my fucking face'.
It's about as British as me using 'period' at the end of this sentence to emphasise my point, period.
Again, I lean towards Brit. If he were an American the word "fuck" or a derivation there of, would have used at least once.
Also, and a lot of you guys here will not believe this, US special forces personnel wear US military uniforms on operations. This is required by law to comply with the Geneva Conventions. Yes, people violate law, but it is more likely they will follow the law than break it. Therefore, if an American, which I do not think he is, since he is not wearing a US military uniform, he is either a contractor or what they call "civilian personnel from other government agencies." And there is NO WAY some one working for those "other government agencies" is going to walk past a news camera and speak to it. And if it were, nevertheless, an american from that agency who fucked up that badly, he would have said something more like "Fuck off cunt," then grabbed her camera and run off with it.
Definitely not an Aussie accent. Not even close. Not a kiwi either.
And definitely not a British one either...I lived there for over 8 years and I've worked for over 20 years for British companies and with many many Brits.
Certainly not European either.
Sounded North American to me.
An agent provocateur mercenary. I guess his bonus for sniping work at the Maidan protests didn't whet his appetite sufficiently.
McCain will happily give him a medal.
Lean again. It's 100% USA. He's not a grunt; he's an operator; hence the correct speech.
Yeah, that was my take. Not all Americans are pigs either...lots of grunts could be polite too, especially when confronted with what was obviously some type of journalist. Depends on the individual.
I'm upper midwest born and raised, and he could walk down the streets of Minneapolis or Fargo and say that sentence and he'd sound right at home. There MAY be some sort of NE flavoring, kind of hard to tell. There are some NE transplants around that I've heard have that sort of feel to their speech.
Not southern, not western, and I don't hear any hit of Aussie, Brit or other english. But then, my ears aren't really very accent-sensitive and the guy did only say one sentence. It would have been easier if he had said two or three maybe.
fargo ND?
That's the only one I'm aware of. And also it's my stomping grounds these days.
Hey Im from the south...all you yankees sound the same to me.
US troopers are cordial, not "proper", like you say it. I say ma'am and sir in all of my conversations because my father, who does as well, served 4 years for the US Army in Texas.
British or Aussie is what I lean towards.
Brooklyn accent
Brooklyn accent...............NOT EVEN CLOSE.
He's a Brit
South African accent people
Completely, hopelessly, and totally wrong. Are you a dis-information agent ?
Idiot, have you ever left your home town ?
Lived in Canada, England, and Australia; studied Accents with my English girlfriend; who had a public school accent; not that you have any idea what that means.
Lol, and yet you think that there is a NE corridor accent?
ROFLMAO,you live in your moms basement and jack off to tranny porn, most likely, you little whore.
You are right Payne
He says in the beginning: "ja, ja is fine...fine.
South African stamped, certified and sealed
"South African accent people"
I don't get that at all. I'd say american way before SA. But I lean Brit.
New York/New Jersey/Staten Island/the Bronx
We call it the BQE accent (for Brooklyn queens expressway)
Yeah; basically. maybe a bit further inland. I call it the northeast corridor.
STFU, bitch, you dont know jack shit, liar
cunt shut the hell up .
There is no such thing as a BQE accent not in the last 100 years - impossible to be SI or Bronx- Jersey or CT possibly
the trolls on this subject are incredible
I'm a Brit. That's not a British accent.
Ja, ja...fine = South African
Correct; and thank you; getting overwhelmed with the idiots on here.
Pathetic. Are you a dis-information agent ?
He's not a Brit definitely a Yank.
To my American ZH friends: any idea which part of the US the accent is from? Or not US at all and from UK? Oz?
North East Corridor; see above.
Born and raise in NE Corridor... Mass-Hole. I have heard Mass, CT, NY, NJ, etc.
That is not a USA accent. NZ/AU/UK/SA
OUr British friends are saying not UK... I can say it is not USA.
Bull shit.
This is perfectly within the range of New England blue-collar accents I have heard, and I have heard many.
I had to upvote you to cancel the down arrow. you're right, of course. hard to say what his problem is; naturally disinformation agents are going to try to spin this.
I was born and raised in New York City. This guy talks/sounds like most of my relatives and friends. Surrounding areas are similar sounding.
Definitely American. Definitely not British, Australian, New Zeland or South African.
Upper Midwest.
New Jersey accent, nice. Looking more and more like what my friends in Delta have been saying is true.
Yes, Putin is not a "good" guy, but something about throwing stones in glass houses comes to mind.
Good times for all you soldiers of fortune out there.
It sounded british to me
of course it's true. I knew they were there too; I"ve just been waiting for this kind of event. pretty soon we'll have some ID; or a prisoner.
"US soldiers" = ZWO army rental
At the end of the day, they are all slaves of the money-god
Sounds like a Russian accent - and I find the statement hard to believe. "get out of my face, please". Sounds like a lame attempt at a polite russian valley boy. "talk to the hand"
polite russian valley boy...
you need explain yourself
so much inane
No. No explanation for you! Come to your own conclusions.
Actually, not just a Russian accent - he was speaking Russian! And with a direct teleprompter link to Putin!
Dumbass CIA manipulators.
If one has been reading Dr. Paul Craig Roberts explanation of the Wolfowitz Doctrine, this revelation should come as NO surprise. The bankers/elites of the US and their puppet states are capable of anything to maintain their global hegemony. Russia is in their way. Owning Ukraine (and Crimea) is one step closer to achieving this. They will fail. Russia is not Libya or Iraq. Idiots!
Roberts is a genius, as well as Sobran.
Russia is getting the squeeze by the Saudis oil pumping and the US by providing back door assistance to Russias enemies.
The goal seems to be to coerce the Russians into playing by the American oligarchs play book.
But Russia has faced far worse, from the Mongols to the full brunt of the Nazi war machine just 73 years ago.
Russia will take our interventionism and use it to bankrupt us. They dont depend on credit-currency to get things done. There are still plenty Russians who will do harsh things to defend their fatherland while we have to pay for every effort at professional military prices.
This assymetrical war of attrition is to their advantage, long term.
Reporters should start asking questions in English to everyone and then listen how they respond. Good trap for exposing foreign "contractors."
Sounds like a hispanic from the north east of the US.
My sister used to be a paramedic. The funny thing about illegals, which we do have quite a few of here, is that, for whatever reason, they think that if they speak english, it will be found out that they are here illegally. When my sister would get one in the ambulance and start asking questions, they'd do the whole "No habla" bit. My sister would wait a few minutes and say "Your shoelace is untied," and quite often, they'd look.
If you want to know who speaks english...
There is no lip synchronization with audio sound in this edited video file as "proof" in Putin regime propaganda channels.
true or not, it is gonna be a PR desaster for the US no matter what
Well, that is target on what Putin regime propaganda team is working on. But if viewer is not a sheep than won't be tricked by this.
Back in May 2014, major German newspapers already reported that Academi aka Xe aka Blackwater had 400 mercenaries in Eastern Ukraine
Speaking of propaganda -- you cannot see his mouth when he speaks.
Its cool though. You keep lying your little tail off on here. Very few buy your crap.
That is the point, you can't confirm that this persone with Ukraine army signs is speaking this audio sound. It's not possible to confirm lip synchronization. Person who created this file could play fart sound and blame it on the soldier. Also it's possible for Putin regime propaganda team to take Ukraine soldier uniform (as ther emany killed) and play what ever video material they want with this actor.
So now its "just possible"
Earlier it was cold hard iron-clad proff Putin personally chopped the video up.
"Putin regime propaganda team" - I wrote. You know - your colleagues :D Only you work in different department - Internet troll, but they at "Propaganda material production". You work together.
The fact you think anyone here in promoting Putin is proof enough you have no fucking clue about ZHers in general.
Get a grip pal.
Are you happy about Ukraine having a US puppet government? Because that's what it has. I find it repugnant that the US would do such a thing. I could care less about Putin, but just once, I'd like to see my government act with integrity. I know I'll be disappointed. Have fun with your US puppet state!
Lol, the Russians poison Yushchenko and turn him into a toad-faced spook, but the Ukrainian government is a US puppet?
roflmao
Yes, we used the same playbook as we did when we destabilized Iran in 1953 and installed the Shah. I never said Yuanakovich was an upstanding moral leader, but according to US Assistant Secretary of State, Nuland, Yatsenyuk was the man that we wanted in power before the coup, and after the coup, he became the Ukrainian PM. This is classic CIA.
And FYI, just because the Russkies allegedly poisoned some dude in Ukraine does not mean that the US could not have instigated a coup and installed its own puppet. What the fuck is it with fuckers and their binary, black or white view of this shit? Fuck. I've got news for you. There are no white hats in this game. Only victims and black hats and lots of shades of grey.
@ freedom123
This clip kinda puts a spanner in your spam of recent weeks
Speaking of accents, I'm betting yours is consistent with those from the British Isles.
He covered his face, so how can it "be out of sync?"
Why would he cover his face? Or are you going to tell me that was photoshopped?
If he has family in Ukraine, wouldn't he want his family to see that he is OK?? (Hi Mom!)
Or is saying that the sound is out of sync just the damage control instructions Langley gave you?
this interview was done on the territory controlled by Kiev. This channel and this woman reporter, also under the control of Kiev. Do you think that Kiev could make a provocation against their own interests?
Look at this guy's bio. He is a troll.
That guy is definitely from the New York region. No way to mistake that accent.
Also, how fucking stupid to insert armed operatives without teaching them a few words of russian/ukrainian? OMG!
A total cassus belli for russia if they choose to use it.
I agree it is New York or New Jersey, or possibly the area around Philly. A good linguist could pin-point down to a much smaller area.
Yes, indeed...a good linguist. Jeebs! Find the best lingquist in the world to decipher this chatter! Lifw, you are on to something; why didn't I think of that.
The oldest reference to get "outta my face" I could find is from the "Rocky" film in 1976, whose setting of course is blue-collar PHILADELPHIA. Its is not extremely common phrase, but every American will have heard it while not so much in the other five eyes. I'd expect it to be very rare that anyone outside the US or outside heavy US influence ever uses it.
That said, its really hard to pin down the accent - watching a second film near the kindergarden hit by the Mariupol false flag, there is a soldier speaking english that sound more Brit/Aussie/NZ or SA - its not clear to me if this is the same soldier...
Its not a stretch to deduce that whoever uses this phrase spends a *lot* of time with Americans, and whose first, probably unconscious reaction to being confronted by a female reporter isn't "bugger off" which is what I would expect from a Brit, but the quintessential American phrase "outta my face", perhaps picked up from a Xe/Academi mentor, boss or higher ups after a period of years (certainly not after single boot camp)
Russian news:
Putin regime terrorists attacks Mariupol civilians, killing 30 (incuding 2 children) - their leader announced attack here: http://youtu.be/1S1YdZRZQOk and OSCE confirms that GRAD rockets where fired from DNR terrorist controled teritory:
This report is provided for the media and general public. At approximately 09:15hrs on 24 January, the SMM in government-controlled Mariupol heard at its location incoming massed Multi-Launch Rocket System (MLRS) attacks from a north-east direction, consisting of an extremely heavy barrage lasting 35 seconds. Twenty minutes later the SMM received information from the Joint Centre for Control and Co-ordination (JCCC) in Mariupol and other sources, that shelling had occurred in the area of Olimpiiska Street, in Ordzhonikidzevskyi district, 8.5 km north-east of Mariupol city centre, approximately 400 metres from a Ukrainian Armed Forces checkpoint. At 10:20hrs the SMM went to Olimpiiska Street and saw seven adult civilians dead. The SMM observed in an area of 1.6 km by 1.1 km, including an open market, multiple impacts on buildings, retail shops, homes and a school. The SMM observed cars on fire and windows facing the north-eastern side of a nine-storey building shattered. The SMM was able to count 19 rocket strikes and is certain there are more. Four hospitals and the emergency service in the city informed the SMM that at least 20 people died and 75 people were injured and hospitalized. Ten of the wounded were in a critical condition, according to a hospital representative. The SMM conducted a crater analysis and its initial assessment showed that the impacts were caused by Grad and Uragan rockets. According to the impact analysis, the Grad rockets originated from a north-easterly direction, in the area of Oktyabr (19 km north-east of Olimpiiska Street), and the Uragan rockets from an easterly direction, in the area of Zaichenko (15 km east of Olimpiiska Street), both controlled by the “Donetsk People’s Republic” (“DPR”). At 13:02hrs and 13:21hrs the SMM heard again incoming MLRS salvos lasting for eight seconds, from an easterly direction. At a distance of 300 metres the SMM saw smoke above the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ checkpoint number 14 (8.9 km north-east of Mariupol city centre), just several hundred metres away from where the shelling had hit in Olimpiiska Street. http://www.osce.org/ukraine-smm/136061 P.S. UN nations drafted resolution that woud condemn this brutal criminal teror attack, but Putin regime used it's veto against this resolution that way showing their support to terrorism around the world and especially in Ukraine.
Russia prevented the U.N. Security Council on Saturday from criticizing statements by pro-Russian Ukrainian rebels and condemning an upsurge in violence that has claimed dozens of lives in Ukraine, council diplomats said. Pro-Russian rebels have launched an offensive against the strategic port of Mariupol in eastern Ukraine, prompting warnings from the European Union and U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

EU threatens more Russia sanctions after Mariupol attack
The EU has threatened to impose more sanctions on Russia following its new offensive in south-east Ukraine. EU foreign relations chief Federica Mogherini on Saturday (24 January) said “further escalation … would inevitably lead to a further grave deterioration of relations”. Her communique spoke of “offensives by Russia-backed separatists”, adding, “I call therefore openly upon Russia to use its considerable influence over separatist leaders and to stop any form of military, political, or financial support”.

Flapdoodle's surefire techniques to spot a Anglo-Zionist troll on ZH in three easy steps:
1) see if troll candidate accuses other posters of being pro-Putin
2) see if troll candidate parrots the Anglo-Zionist MSM
3) see if troll candidates posts LONG, LONG article which is ultimately off-topic when things seem to be going badly in the discussion
Works every time!
Flap, his post just shows Zakharchenko saying he is going for Mariopol although
you cant see his lips move. The soldier with a north eastern American accent is very polite
but you cant see his lips move. There is a lot of people on this site who think putin is the
person who will halt the NWO or an enemy's enemy is my friend. Well each to their own.
Short enough for ya !
It should be just as interested now in the UN and the OSCE all turns: Regular attacks Donetsk and Gorlovka, killing far more people - a violation of humanitarian law are not.
But shelling of Mariupol, which killed far fewer people, is a violation of humanitarian law.
Ladies and gentlemen, the UN and the OSCE, or you wear pants, or remove the cross. All your friendly company, begins to resemble the members of the jury of the festival the Washington hypocrisy.
Your propaganda is very comprehensive.
You are doing a good job. Realy earning your pay.
Your supervisor must be very proud of you.
I knew in advance that you will not be able to contradict me anything basically.
Rent-a-cop.
Mall of America? Definitely sounds like a Minnesota accent. I stayed at a Marriot there once.
MOre hilarious Russian disinformation. Let's follow the treasoning here: (1) he's in a Ukranian uniform (2) He can say five words in English without an obvious accent (3) Therefore he must be an American miltary adviser going undercover in a Ukranian uniform.
Yeah, that's obvious, because there aren't any Ukranian citizens that have spent time living in English speaking countries. None at all...
Yes, that conclusion is about as solid as everything else you see here on PravdaHedge.
You are so right! Everyone knows it is perfectly normal for a Ukrainian to speak English with NE U.S. accent when asked a question in Russian. It must be Russian disinformation.
So if a Spanish speaking reporter shoves a camera in your face, and you answer in English "Out of my face please," does that mean you understood their question?
FWIW, in '99 I met the only guy I ever knew that I was aware was a Ukrainian. We worked together on a software team in the lead-up to the Y2K changeover. He had been in the US for about 5 years, and DEFINITELY had what I had taken for a Russian accent until one time someone called him a Russian and it looked like he wanted to punch the guy for it.
My brother-in-law is also from El Salvador. He moved to the US over 30 years ago, and he still has a very noticeable hispanic accent.
Speaking a foreign language well enough to fool a native speaker is a very difficult trick for anybody, if my experience is any indication.
I think definitely a native english speaker. I have met a few people who spoke english so well they had no discernable native accent. One was Japanese, one was Italian, and a few from Belgium, the Neatehrlands, Denmark, Norway, and Germany. I think people who are from areas bordering the North Sea can do a better job with a natural sounding american accent. Having said that, no matter how good their accent, they all had trouble with slang and tended to shy away from non-standard contractions, so I do not think any would have said "out'ta my face."
It's a native speaker, but again, I lean Brit.
My experience with slang is similar. I used to work with an Italian who moved to the US when he was 9. He was young enough to learn English without having any describable accent, but idioms and slang would have him asking what it meant.
I've met only one person who I knew was foreign born and who spoke without an accent I could detect. That was when I was taking a German class in college and the professor (who had a very noticeable accent) invited a girl he knew into class to speak with us. She was a native Berliner, and she spoke like she grew up across the street from me. Including slang. She was amazing. And also really hot.
She learned it from the Berlin Brigade.

"Speaking a foreign language well enough to fool a native speaker is a very difficult trick for anybody, if my experience is any indication."
Depends on the language. Spanish speakers never get that I'm a native English speaker - they always guess Argentina or Uruguay or some other place they've never been, but where they know Spanish is spoken. They only realize I'm not a native speaker if the conversation gets technical, at which point I run out of vocabulary.
Growing up in southern cali you run into a lot of mexican immigrants. Once in a blue moon you'd find someone with perfect pronunciation and no vocabulary, very odd. It was rare enough that if you came accross someone with perfect pronunciation you could safely presume they spoke near perfect english. On the other side, a heavy accent didn't really mean much, you'd have to really talk to them to figure out their limits.
Interestingly there is a whole bunch of 2nd or 3rd generation immigrants that do not speak a drop of spanish and have heavy spanish accents.
