This is the only stock I laud.  I know this seems apostate speech from a ZHer, but I've always been a Mac guy and I've always appreciated a well-built-virus-free-fast-running computer product.

Oh, and they pay a dividend with their $600 billion cash surplus.  Not bad if you're playing the stock game.  Even at $115 a share, it's still a steal if you want a winner.

Putting honesty ahead of popularity... I actually like Apple. At least they make stuff (well design stuff that they pay others to make).

Far more honourable than any of the millions of financial firms which exist purely to hoodwink people with elaborate mathematics and Ponzi risk taking.

Not a fan of Apples foray into personal privacy though. But still I like them a lot more than Goldman, JPM, the government, and reeks of other folks who produce absolutely zilch.

Apple makes me sick. Like most of the list above.

Fuck Apple ! I never liked their uber-expensive crap...One exception: Apple II. That was truly a revolutionary product, and for that thing alone the two Steve's deserved to become Gods. Sure, they are wildly successful now , but their success became the perfect symbol of what's wrong with our times...

It's marketing.  Watch the old Apple ads on YouTube.  They are about the "enlightened" ones buying Apple, the unwashed buying the competition (Windows).  Is it a decent product - yes.  Is it groundbreaking - no.  My Macbook Pros crash regularly.  My Windows PCs never crash.  Marketing: "Buy a Mac or you are one of the stoopid ones." It works.

The ominous trend of US Oligarchy corporate power is heading ever more  to a small club of companies that will control finance, distribution, media, teletransmission/Internet and Energy.

We are talking about the control of a 30T world market capitalization  by a few companies. Less than 10.

How can DEMOCRAcy resist to such a juggernaut?

The only empires than can resist it will be rival despotic constructs like China or Russia. Our western dream ends.

They could buy Russia, with plenty left over. One-hundred million combined units sold in one quarter.  In four quarters, 400 million. In ten years, 4 billion. Soon they will have a market cap of One-Trillion dollars. They are touted now as the most successful company to ever exist on the face of the earth, period. And it all came about thanks to one guy.
They make two main products, which most everyone who wants one, has 2-3 of already. Is there no limit to the number produced and sold?  just like there is no limit to Fed money creation? "Apple announces one-billion units sold in the quarter, breaks all records!" Is this all real? Gotta wonder…

Are you on the factory floor?

Getting overall high yield is not an easy task. Weeding out all faulty components along the way requires rigorous testing. There's individual component tests before assembly, but things may go wack at the system level during assembly. More testing. Skip any single step and your overall yield just got slapped.

Of course, when you have slaves, anything is easy.
