Dow Futures Plunge 425 Points From Friday Highs; Greek Stocks/Bonds Plunging, Crude $44 Handle

Tyler Durden's picture

Well that escalated quickly. While this morning's weakness in stocks is being pegged to earnings misses (and rightly so), the selling pressure started as Europe opened and Greek stocks and bonds accelerated their freefall. Greek stocks and bonds are now below ECB QE levels and WTI Crude back at a $44 handle as CAT CEO demands Fed does not raise rates due to the "fragile" US economy... The Dow is now 425 points off Friday's highs...

Dow is now down 240 points from highs...

Having briefly grazed green year-to-date, The Dow has plunged 425 points

As Greek stocks and bonds plunge...

Heading into another recession but central banks with no ammunition left (aside from the afore-mentioned Bre-X helicopter drop option).

We might just experience what a REAL recession is like.  Not that it will ever be an officially declared recession, of course- those days are long gone.

Zero Hedge readers are by far the best informed on the internet.

However, high integrity financial analysis, authentic economic forecasts,

accurate technical data, and a true assessment of the fundamentals must

Crazy conspiracy theorist! After all, just because they denied but later admitted to manipulating bonds, equities, metals, oil, interest rates, and the "Greenspan/Bernanke put" does not mean they stand idly by ready to step in to manipulate further when it goes belly up. Only a certified kook would come to that conclusion.

The Fed finally got our market high enough to have the global Recession we should have had 7 years ago (only then it would have been an outright Depression...duh), yanking the phony ramped up market back down using oil and the high dollar (and screwing Putin along the way)  so "they"  can ramp it up again just in time for the next US presidential election as usual.

Nobody gives a shit about greece, not even the greeks.  They finally vote for the pol they deserve, a naive idiot commie with no idea what he's doing and no clue to economic realities.  So welcome to the new Ceasar Chavez, goodbye Greece...EU should get rid of this banana republic, it would be stronger for it

" a naive idiot commie with no idea what he's doing and no clue to economic realities."
Unlike the naive idiot capitalists with no clue to economic realities that were running things before?

Really, I fail to see how this guy can make things significantly worse than they already are. And if he can get Greece out of that damned union, or whatever you want to call it, then maybe Greece will stand a chance at some kind of recovery.

And it is THIS that has everyone so upset...A Greek recovery post-union would change the game over there. THAT is what is most feared, THAT is what they can't allow to happen. The only question is just how FAR they would go to make sure Greece doesn't recover outside the 'union'.

Well, they could recover, but unfortunately their Greek.

They will recover after a generation or two of denial and misery. That is usually about how long it takes for poverty and starvation to turn a people toward the eternal truths of hardwork and thrift, if they don't turn toward a despot or two which will put them through more misery first.

I am stocking up on popcorn and Diet Mountain Dew so I can enjoy the show.

green by noon or certainly by close.  If I buy back  my own stock is that quite unlike me "loaning" money to my adult married children?  America is broken,  financially,  morally and spiritually.  If the only reason  you don't do crime is the fear of getting caught you have a rough definition of the behavior on Wall Street.  There is no prosectuion for crimes of finance to speak of.

We live in interesting times.
