Russian Ruble Extends Gains, Stocks Erase All Post-Downgrade Losses

Tyler Durden's picture

"That'll teach them Russians" - oh wait... The kneejerk selling of Russian Rubles and stocks post-downgrade has almost entirely been erased and dip-buyers appear to be greatly rotating from US to Russian stocks today...

Currency has almost round-tripped its losses...

Russian stocks now green post-downgrade...

JP Morgan currently has a fund that is doing nothing but buying up everything in Russia on the cheap.  But hey, you go put all your wealth in the Ruble if you feel so inclined.

Investing in Russia is what I believe is the correct thing to do. The west is done growing until the NWO gets off of their back. In the West the financial system is one system. Gov't disability, EBT and retirement money in the US comes from the Australia, Japan, the EU, Britain, The movies are all propaganda and showing Russians as the enemy. The West can't fight a nuclear, bioweapon or high energy weapons war. Russia has a low population, natural resources, it connects China with the EU, it has good jogging weather and you would have to be stupid not to invest in Russia today.

Damn sure I don't have transparency, clear regulations to protect me from Fraud in the US Markets... across all asset classes. I would have negative knowledge over assets and ownership in Russia.

All I would be interested in is a Dacha, apartment, or house some place overseas. Then again property Title is a problem in many countries, especially old countries and old property.

The new Greece government has opened up a row with Brussels about Russian sanctions, even before the cabinet was sworn in.

The Wall Street Journal reports:

A toughly worded statement on Russia issued Tuesday by European Union heads of governments didn’t have the consent of Greece’s new Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, according to two Greek officials.

“The statement does not have Greece’s consent,” a government official said. The official added that the Greek government will put out a statement later saying the European Council, the body which issued the statement, didn’t follow the correct procedure to win Athens’ consent.

mandea, Gold_Spot is being an asshole; but in spite of himself, he's right.

RUB/USD = Rubles per Dollar = how many rubles does it take to make 1 dollar = 68ish. The graph is labeled correctly.

I got this wrong on first glance too.

mandea's picture

No, sorry for that, the graph is wrong. Please check yahoo finance: RUSUSD is 0.015.

USDRUB is 68 and the ratio is meaningful: if RUB weakens the ratio will increase.  It is so simple, verify on google finance or yahoo. I am trading this stuff so I know:)

You're "trading this stuff," and you're using google and yahoo for your information?

Tue, 01/27/2015 - 14:43 | 5711862 mandea
mandea's picture

no, i using a proffesional trading platform. I mentioned yahoo and google because it's obvious you do not understand what USD/RUB or RUB/USD is and that's why you believe whatever is delivered to you.

So, basically after S&P, RUB was tanking, or simply put, people sold RUB and bought dollars. That lead USDRUB pair to explode.

If RUBUSD was calculated (which is possible, of course) and apply the same scenario (people sold RUB and bought USD) what happens? Surely, RUBUSD drops. This is why the graph is misleading. If that was RUBUSD would imply that the RUB was actually getting stronger and it is not the case. Since the graph was not corrected, I tend to beleive it's a very rudimental piece of propaganda. RT = ZH. Sad but true.

And believe me, this is gymansium stuff:)))

The vertical axis is clearly labeled "RUB / USD", as in Rubles per Dollar, not the symbol RUBUSD. The correct symbol is USDRUB. It is just another way of looking at the same thing.

mandea's picture

no, sorry, the ordinate (vertical axis) is not labeled at all. It's just a text box "RUBUSD". I explained below that a simple change USDRUB into RUBUSD means smth very different.

Come on no-one reading a "financial" blog  understands that simple thing??

me again's picture

Yeah, you're right; sorry. The Label is upside down; it should say USD / RUB as you state. But that's state of the art around here. the statements, on the other hand are correct, the Ruble is recovering well from it's recent correction.

Tue, 01/27/2015 - 16:48 | 5712632 mandea
mandea's picture

what does it mean "recovering"? getting stronger? Now, if you say that USDRUB parity goes higher, say from 35 last year to almost 80, doeas that mean to you RUB is stronger? It's a parity, ratio or whatever. If RUB gets weaker, USDRUB ration gets higher (you divide USD to a smaller value). I try to use very simple example, like this from arithmetics. In fact, investors and traders are selling RUB for Dollars. Then, obvious USDRUB goes higher and RUBUSD lower.

Reality (check also news but not from RT) and see that the facts stands differently from what is posted here. Now on which side are you? facts or stupid propaganda?

If this is propaganda I see the effect of russian budget cuts. Gets sloppy:)

If you're actually interested in this subject; you could read up on it; or even watch some U-Tube histories; such as "WW11, the Battles"; almost no living Germans returned to Germany. Something like 2,000 out of the 36,000 that surrendered at Stalingrad got back to East Germany; in 1955. But mostly; just no survivors. It was a vicious fight to the death. The Germans starved their Russian prisoners and vice-versa.  Auschwitz didn't change anything; the only good German was a Dead German. It was a full blown Armageddon.

The title of this junk article says "Russian Ruble Extends Gains" and it basically shows the graph of USDRUB (where clearly after S&P downgrade, RUB sunk badly) but with a text label "RUBUSD" (where someone not familiar with these things would understand that RUB was actually getting stronger!!).

It's incredibble that in the year 2015 some can go so much low on the propaganda scale to misinform readers. That tells what USSR propaganda activists can do.

USSR rubla, was hit, and badly. M/M change is higher than 30%. Like a 3 world country currency.

Simply sick.

Have a look at 1) RUBUSD
