Meet The Extreme Super Rich: A List Of The 80 People Who Own As Much As The World’s Poorest 3.6 Billion

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Mike Krieger via Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

Before I get into the meat of this post, I want to make it clear that the definition of oligarch, a term I use a lot, does not center solely around money.

Late last year, in the post Inside the Mind of an Oligarch – Sheldon Adelson Proclaims “I Don’t Like Journalism,” I attempted to frame the word oligarch as I use it. I wrote the following:

In a nutshell, while many oligarchs are extremely wealthy (or have access to extreme wealth), not all people with extreme wealth are oligarchs. The term oligarch is reserved for those with extreme wealth who also want to control the political process, policy levers and most other aspects of the lives of the citizenry in a top-down tyrannical and undemocratic manner. They think they know best about pretty much everything, and believe unelected technocrats who share their worldview should be empowered so that they can unilaterally make all of society’s important decisions. The unwashed masses (plebs) in their minds are unnecessary distractions who must to be told what to do. Useless eaters who need to be brainwashed into worshipping the oligarch mindset, or turned into apathetic automatons incapable or unwilling to engage in critical thought. Either outcome is equally acceptable and equally encouraged.

With that out of the way, Five-Thirty-Eight provided the following:

Eighty people hold the same amount of wealth as the world’s 3.6 billion poorest people, according to an analysis just released from Oxfam. The report from the global anti-poverty organization finds that since 2009, the wealth of those 80 richest has doubled in nominal terms — while the wealth of the poorest 50 percent of the world’s population has fallen.

There you have it. The reason the wealth of the richest has doubled since 2009, is because “it’s not a recession, it’s a robbery.” Central bank and government policy has done this, it is no accident.

For more evidence…

Four years earlier, 388 billionaires together held as much wealth as the poorest 50 percent of the world.

Thirty-five of the 80 richest people in the world are U.S. citizens, with combined wealth of $941 billion in 2014. Together in second place are Germany and Russia, with seven mega-rich individuals apiece. The entire list is dominated by one gender, though — 70 of the 80 richest people are men. And 68 of the people on the list are 50 or older.

Oxfam notes that global wealth inequality is increasing while the rich get richer. If trends continue, the organization projects that the richest 1 percent of people will have more wealth than the remaining 99 percent by 2016.

Now here’s the list:

I didn’t provide this list to say whether these people are good or bad. I provide it, because whenever 80 people own as much as the poorest 50% of the globe, we sure better know who they are. We should also be cognizant of the disproportionate influence any of them can have on public affairs should they want to.

Stop with these bullshit rich lists. If a list like this doesn't have names like Rothschild or Rockefeller at the top of it, its worthless propaganda.

Here's a picture of him toasting them:

Perhaps "staying rich" is what makes them act so special.

"I'll say it again--it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!"

3 things struck me about that list:

1)  I lol'd seeing Zuckerberg ahead of Soros-stein.

2)  American names are getting fewer and fewer from the lists I've seen previously.

3)  And yes, no Rothies or Rockies....

Unfuckingbelievable...

Just the other day I was watching a well researched PBS Frontline documentary where the CIA stated Putin was worth $40 billion yet for some reason they left him off this list.

The man gets no respect...

I think I saw that same one.  Came off as a bunch of propaganda blaming Putin for everything that happened in Russia after the SU fell apart.  I think he's a bad guy but c'mon.

The reason Putin was left off the list is there is no evidence; PBS rumor is not evidence and neither is guessing. I can’t believe that someone on ZH is referencing a PBS “documentary” quoting the CIA. Have we learned nothing about the banker-empire and its media?

Banker financial information travels faster than truth in America. Never mind that the major part of the PBS operation is Zionist.

Maybe you and PBS can "document" why the NY Times also is claiming Vladimir Putin has a “fortune of between $40 billion and $70 billion” but no one can find it.

Forbes Columnist Paul Roderick Gregory made the same claim in March of 2014 but at least admitted Forbes had no proof. At the same time, he directed President Obama to “act and act now!... “ against Russia, because, what the heck,  “there is no need to establish Russian violations of international treaties.”

Gregory wrote in his Follow His Money column even though he couldn’t find the trail: “Among these [Russian] kleptocrats, Vladimir Putin could well be the richest, but his wealth is carefully hidden. It is taboo and dangerous even to talk about. Forbes has not been able to estimate his fortune.”

It’s the “kleptocrats” in Russia, the USA and Israel who hate Putin. It’s because Putin has refused to sell Russia out from underneath his people; he has established limits, unlike in the U.S. where the US Congress has sold out Americans’ and America’s sovereignty to the international banking cartel, the Fed.

IOW, claiming Putin’s wealthy but not able to substantiate it. This pretty much summarizes the US media: all claim but unable to establish.

The Walmart heirs are worth more than 40% of the rest of ALL Americans.... they make $8 million a DAY from their Walmart holdings.  Yet Walmart deliberately keeps as many people as possible on part-time status - without benefits.   All the government benefits paid to 'working poor' Walmart employees are DIRECT subsidies to Walmart owners.

Capitalism is fine BUT how about sharing profits with the people working for you?   And how about paying your fair share in taxes?   The Walton family saved billions in estate taxes and continue to game the system - Alice opened a Fine Art Museum in Bentonville - a nice tax write off for her collection.  Want ot 'give back'?  Try contributing to the Walmart Foundation or try boosting employee wages.  That would really help.

Did you add up the Walmart bunch?  And what about buddies Bill Gates and Buffett, who plans on leaving most of his money to the Gates Foundation?  If you combine their wealth, plus the $80+billion in the Gates' Foundation and Foundation Trust, then you are up over $200 billion controlled by these two guys who have similar agendas and designs on reshaping the world.

Here are a few:

http://www.fundsforngos.org/foundation-funds-for-ngos/worlds-top-ten-wea...

According to this, The Clinton Foundation was worth about 74 Billion awhile back.

http://news.firedoglake.com/2013/09/23/clinton-global-initiative-is-mark...

Why not create an annual event that harnessed the desire of wealthy celebrities to get close to Clinton to advance the aims of his foundation? Thus, in 2005, the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) was born.

CGI is not a traditional charity—unlike Clinton’s foundation, it does not dispense money of its own. Instead, it is a series of collaborations with corporations or individuals to solve global problems, anchored by an annual conference that costs $20,000 to attend. In the past eight years, CGI has secured pledges worth $74 billion. (By comparison, the Gates Foundation has given away $28 billion since its inception in 1994.) As conceived by Band, CGI was the perfect vehicle for Clinton. It allowed him to train his intellect on wonky dilemmas—improving China’s power grid, bolstering Mali’s market for locally produced rice. And it placed him at thecenter of a matrix of the ultra-wealthy and the ultra-powerful, the kinds of people Clinton has always taken a special pleasure in surrounding himself with.

More to come.

"This may come as a bit of a surprise, as you can browse through Forbes’ extensive rich list and not find a single mention of the name ‘Rothschild’ in their list of the 500 wealthiest people on Earth. This is because the Rothschild’s wealth has been distributed amongst hundreds of heirs throughout the years, and has therefore diluted each individual’s personal fortune. With this being said, it is estimated that the Rothschild Family as a whole still possess in the region of $350 billion USD in assets throughout the world. Bear in mind that this is a low estimation. Due to their great secrecy, the sheer amount of assets they hold, and the scale of their operations, it is difficult to estimate exactly how much the Rothschild Family are worth. Higher estimates have placed it in the region of $1 trillion USD, making them by far the wealthiest family on Earth."

At the turn of the 20th century the Rothschild clan were seriously estimated to own half of the wealth of the planet. Since then, they have used this wealth to create even more wealth.

That's most impressive, when you do the math:

If you assume there are about 16 million of them in the world, and divide by 8 billion people, you get 0.2% odds for EACH of the 10 that I see in the list. The odds of seeing 10... Wow!

Rich and connected people leave nothing to chance though. Especially if they share other common bonds.

I believe two of the Rothchilds in UK are worth and estimate $70 billion alone. They are so secretive and spread out so many ways who knows where they are and they are secret because they probably fear for their lives. I believe both the Rothchilds and the Rockefellers are well into the Trillionaire status and exempt from existance.

I agree with you.

You might know soybeans, but you don’t know the Rothschilds.  Be careful using the internet as your data source.  It is often about as useful as the National Enquirer.  The absurd claims about this family, their wealth and influence, are indicative of a gross naivete.  This is no longer the 19th Century.

Time and procreation kills all fortunes (as does commodity price tumbles).  The Rothschilds wish they had even a fraction of what the internet claims they have.  They are not poor, but not even close to “trillionaires”.  Even the most senior members of the family still work for a living, though obviously they do not have to do so.  They schlep for HNW individuals to place funds in their bank.  Nice houses, to be sure, but not the all-controlling power brokers the Internet Gurus claim.  That is pulp fiction, not reality.

The Rockefellers, in turn, are a quantum step down from the Rothschilds.  Reality just doesn’t make for good blogging, however.  This audience wants more, so it can feed the voracious hate that seems to sustain it.  Believe the bogeyman tales if you wish, but it makes you look foolish.

Sorry, but I fucking don't.  I care about covering my own ass and making sure my ass is covered and safe for as long as it is crapping on this planet, be that with money, PMs, or bullets.  If Bill fucking Gates is worth 50 trillion I don't care, and as for those 3.6 billion people who dont have a pot to pee in, if you took all the money from the list above and split it amongst them today, 3.598 billion of those still would not have a pot to pee in tomorrow.

Honestly I don't care about who has more money than who, though I'm human and have days I too wish I was a billionaire. But you are completely right. This money is sitting in nothing no mans land, if that was given back to all the small business owners / medium business owners things in this world would be different.

Of course a GIANT portion of that rests with the MIC which is a whole other story. Between the MIC and financial institutions this world is fucked.

No one will march on these people, but every one of us could just say no. Dump you money and walk away from the game. Passing Go anymore mean you are just directly going to some type of jail. This game is rigged....in the words of Cartman "fuck you guys I'm going home"

My bet is the bulk of this money is in investments (perhaps thru funds) in companies that are employing people and providing jobs.  The bulk of the remainder is in properties. Both of these these have gone up a ton, yes, but it is not like most of it is sitting in bank accounts and mattresses all over the fucking planet.

And I agree with walking away from the game.  Fuck buying all their shit.  You wanna help the 3.6 billion?  Buy from local farmers only, and dont buy mass produced shit.  Those fuckers above will go down, and the little people all over the planet will get something, but worrying about the rich assholes above and what they have is a fool's game.
