BABA Bye Bye: Chinese MegaCap Plunges Below Post-IPO First Print

Tyler Durden's picture

Alibaba is down over 10% this morning following a disappointing earnings release. This comes on the heels of selling pressure after the Chinese government released its report claiming significant "issues" at China's richest man's company. A combination of weak revenues, a 28% plunge in net income, slower than expected growth on its Tmall platform (and disappointment at the progress into mobile advertising) have sent the stock tumbling back near Facebook's market cap.

BABA is now trading below the opening print on IPO day...

As Bloomberg reports,

After September’s IPO and a record 57.1 billion yuan in transactions during a Nov. 11 promotion, Alibaba faces a decelerating Chinese economy and scathing criticism from the government for alleged lax oversight of its websites.

“The revenue increase was much lower than people expected,” said You Na, an analyst at ICBC International Research Ltd. in Hong Kong. “As more merchants start advertising on its mobile apps, revenue growth could slow as ad space and the fees it charges will be lower than what they charge for on desktops.”

Point is clear, all the insiders that had to get rich off the IPO got rich.

Now the sheep holding on will get sheared.

Ma has already invested close to 1.5 billion USD in the India e-commerce market (plans a total of 10 Bill), he is off and away, the sheep get the hindmost.

Ali Baba should merge with Ali G and float a new company called Borat. That will be a sure winner on Whore Street.

Ever since Amazon allowed sellers fro China to list their 'stuff' on AMZN web site I bet they had to hire a dozen people just to monitor the fake crap coming in from China on their web site. When I see a "genuine" silk wedding gown for $6.95 with "Free Shipping" from Guanzhou I get suspicious.

I bet this all makes for one NERVOUS FUCKING WATERHEAD this morning.   His little monkey ass best be heading back to Talos4 before they fucking dissappear him.   They've been on a bender lately anyway, "discovering" all sorts of top politicos, generals and businessman that are suddenly guilty of treason.

It's grand to be on top in China, but man, that's one hell of a fall if you step wrong.  No golf-outing prisons there.

So investors are disappointed with growth in advertising revenue?

Isn't the point of Alibaba to sell products.

Oh I forgot the entire purpose of the internet is to generate advertising revenue with ads nobody looks at.

AS IT SHOULD.  After all, the play/shift of wealth was to move it to a country that would do a better job of protecting their wealth.  (You know who's wealth.)  AND, it is looking like that one has come back to bite them in the arse.

Even then, this company is a joke.  It may work for those people over there, but the people just might realize that the service was built to be more then just a service.

It still makes me think of "Human Farming".

Pens,
