“I’d Like to Change the World, but I Don’t Know How So I’ll Leave it Up to You”

What a great lyric that is from the late 60′s, early 70′s English band ’10 Years After’.  I believe this describes that uneasy feeling of discontent that sits deep in the stomach, beneath the day to day exteriors, of so many people today.  The world is like a black hole in that it seems to be getting smaller and smaller as the years go by but also heavier and heavier with each passing day.

When I was a teenager and my friends and I were taking reality obscuring substances, one of my buddies (this means you Nichol) would stop us at certain points throughout the night for a reality check.  This was just a few moments where we’d all gather our senses to make sure the world was still right and then we’d venture back into obscurity.  I feel that reality is an old world term.  There is no reality anymore.  With advances in technology came unending possibilities of if you can dream it ‘they’ can make it so.  The ubiquitous flow of information ensures that the truth is always available but never known with certainty.  It means there is no such thing as a reality check.  It’s like that dream inside a dream inside a dream.  Which reality is real anymore?  How deep does the rabbit hole go?

We are raised with pretty standard ideals of what the world is meant to be but these ideals seem to take place only in the movies.  It must be incredibly difficult for our young people to reconcile the two worlds, I know it is for me.  That which they learn as a child and that which they find has replaced it as a young adult.  Our ‘leaders’ our despicable arrogant and egotistical fools who pretend we elect them because we don’t see them for what they are.  But we elect them because we feel we have no choice.  We know what we want the world to be.  We know what it should look and feel like.  And we know it is not the world in which we live today.  “I know I’d like to change the world but I don’t know how and so I’ll leave it up to you”.  And so we continue to move forward down this path each step uneasy as though something ungood is lurking just around the next corner.

We are able to put that feeling out of our minds for the most part but our subconscious is always aware that things are off.  We have all kinds of self help books and new – new age theories that attempt to make sense of it all and explain why we just aren’t happy the way we envision happy should be.   Perhaps the only reality is the reality that the world isn’t what we had hoped it would be and we don’t know how to make that right.  I’d love to say that if we just stand up and do the right thing, act from our hearts and have good intentions that it could change the world.  But quite honestly there are ill-ententioned people that are constructing this new world in which we sub-exist.  It is ‘them’ and us but they’d never say it that way.  Certainly though their intention is not for us to co-exist along side them.

But so we carry on and we, move forward, to the best of our abilities.  We accept the good with the bad and acknowledge that everything is a trade off.  We believe that if we go to college we stand a better chance in life and so we borrow our first 10 years of post college wages to get an edge over the next guy who is doing the same.  When we get out of school we know that it is time to buckle down and get serious.  We put our ‘lives’ on hold in order to focus on the future with the idea that one day we will be sitting on the porch with the person we love, the one we put on hold for all those years and we will then enjoy our life’s work then.

But then we get further in debt because we need a sleeker car and we need a bigger house but it’s ok because we can just work a little more.  And then the kids come and as far as we got to know them they are great, I think.  But it’s ok because they just finished college and now they’ve moved back in as the job market is tough out there and so we’re paying off their student loans.  Eventually they get away and begin their life’s journey and they take their debt with them.  And then we realize, god I’m almost 60.   But it feels great because that means soon I’ll be there on the porch getting to know the one I love again and life will be grand at that point.

But then we turn 65 and we realize all those policies that were implemented by all those ‘well-intentioned’ decisions makers have actually left us with very little.  And we say it’s ok because we’d be bored anyway just sitting on the porch.  And so we take a job waving at people in Walmart but feel like OMG how did I get here.  But the shift ends and we go home anxious to spend time with the one we love because although it’s a terrible thought we are aware we’re both getting long in the tooth.  And so we arrive home only to realize the one we love is now sick and that it’s too late for our days sitting on the porch getting to know each other again.  We do everything we can but we cannot afford to help that person who stood quietly behind us all those years as healthcare costs are unrealistically out of touch with ‘reality’.  And then it hits us that despite taking all the ‘right’ steps to ensure we have a great life we failed to ever really be happy, to really love and to really accept love.  And then it really hits us, this world provides but one shot.

Well then that feeling of uneasy discontent that shadowed us when we were young is now an intense pain in our heart.  And we look out at the world and we ask ourselves how could this have happened? I did everything ‘they’ told me I was supposed to do, I did everything ‘right’!  And it becomes clear that life was a chance to change the world, but we didn’t know how and so we left it up to….

I listened to Rudy Guliani state live on the radio that very day that THEY deciided to "pull it" referring to WTC 7.

And while I'm here can you please show me the parts of the airplane that hit the Pentagon? Yup, we can COMPLETELY REBUILD TWA 800 that crashed in the fucking ocean yet not recover anything that resembles a commercial jet out by the Pentagon. Never mind all the video surveillence just up and disappeared.

Oh and Jamie Dimon is a CRIMINAL. It's the crimes that matter not which invisible friend in the sky he supposedly prays to. But on that note you do not have to be Jewish to be a Zionist. In fact within Judaism there is a large split and there are plenty of Jews who see Zionism as antithesis to Judaism. There are both more bothering and interesting parts to the narrative... it really hides in plain sight.

THe destruction is graphic and emotional, it is tough for people to not rationalize about it no matter what they see in shows like mega destruction.

 

How about a passport found at the bottom of the tower?

You know what, whatever really happened, the governement had to do something, find (or make out, it makes no differentce really) culprits and take action otherwise...

What was at stake was the illusion of control, had the US representatives done nothing, and say they were clueless about how the thing unfold, your country would have descended into chaos.

As the score settled in, it would have in fact affected the whole world equilibrium.

Ask yourself why you “believe” the US engineered the Kiev overthrow.  Who told you?  Who recorded and released the supposed “smoking gun”?  What was his former job title?

So here you “believe” that a State weenie bureaucrat (who doesn’t make policy and who has no “covert” authority) and a metrosexual career Ambassador of no particular accomplishment (career ambassadors get the posts political cronies and major campaign contributors don’t want, and which the USG doesn’t particularly care about) were so clever they outsmarted the “Chessmaster” who cared so much about Ukraine that he used dioxin to poison another former Ukrainian leader who wasn’t his lapdog.

Okay.  And for your “proof” you probably like to mine quote that “$5 billion”, right?  (Got a Congressional Finding?  Maybe you can do a FOIA request from the Intel Committee...oh, you didn't know EVERY covert action requires a Congressional Finding?)  Well, that $5 billion was the TOTAL US aid provided to Ukraine since its independence 22 years ago, which amounts to about $18 million per month.  The money was used, inter alia, to break down nukes, clean up pollution left over from Commie days, begin to modernize infrastructure, build and improve schools and hospitals, and try to stabilize the financial system.  The funds were handed out during a period when some Ukrainian leaders were favorably disposed toward the US, and some were not.  It is possible, maybe even likely, that some of these pro and anti-Western leaders also skimmed a bit of it for themselves.  That includes Yanukovytch.  He certainly lived high on the hog by local standards.

You have a sum total of zero proof that any US paramilitary aid was provided to those at Maidan.  You have utterances and insinuations coming from Russian media (or from those quoting Russian media) all of which is under either the direct control or influence of the former Propaganda Chief of the KGB, who earned his stripes leading the slaughter that was the 2nd Chechen War, and who also orchestrated the aggression in Ossetia.  Not that it is relevant to Ukraine, but this same figure led Russia’s most recent “coming out” party in Sochi last year, a little gala that somehow cost $50 billion---and that back when the ruble still had some believers---with every last one of the major contracts going to people who just happened to be oligarch buddies of the “Chessmaster”.  Did you notice whether or not any of those contracts went out to competitive bid?

So you’ve hung your hat(e) on a tale coming from a guy who eavesdropped on a private conversation, also picked up other private conversations including one between a UN bureaucrat and the Estonian FM, and who is that guy who previously ran the propaganda arm of the KGB.

And your beliefs “make sense” to you why?  Because it fits your other beliefs, which also came to you from sources about whose veracity you know absolutely nothing?  Is it possible that you’ve built false beliefs on top of false beliefs?  Who’s the sheeplekov?  If the glove DOES fit you have to admit.

Instead of using our two hands to point fingers at the world, we can get to work making what we want to see. People get stuck in the cycle of blame, which is nothing but an energy-waster. Acknowledge the world is where it is and that you've a role in it -  then do something about it. Regardless of how futile it all seems, only crying about it isn't gonna change anything, we either git'er done or we don't.

Your poignant observation applies to me and from what I see to a few others as well.

Our experiences and our decisions in respect to how we wish to continue play a big part.  I wish there was an effective way of passing what took us a lifetime to learn to the young.  But then, they would not have the opportunity to learn for themselves, experience the pain and the pleasure, reap rewards and consequences of what they do.

There is more to this life than meets the eye, of that I am certain.  This plane we live on serves a purpose, for what I do not know, but methinks much like you in respect to truth.

THIS IS THE WAY THE WORLD REALLY WORKS

 

-          The luckiest, fittest, smartest, with the capability for ruthlessness survive – always have – always will

 

-          Resources are finite and therefore ownership is a zero sum game

 

-          The strong always take from the weak – if they do not then that is a sign of weakness and a competitor will take from the weak and will usurp the formerly strong dropping them into weakling status

 

-          Humans tend to group by clan or on a broader basis by nationality (strength in numbers bonded by culture) and they compete with others for resources

 

-          Competition always exist (I want it all!) but it becomes fiercer when resources are not sufficient to support competing clans or nations

 

-          Tribal societies understand these dynamics because they cannot go to the grocery store for their food – so they are intimately aware of the daily battle to feed themselves and the competition for scare land and resources

 

-          Modern affluent societies do not recognize this dynamic because for them resources are not scarce – they have more than enough.

 

-          One of the main reasons that resources are not scarce in affluent societies is because they won the battle of the fittest (I would argue that luck is the precursor to all other advantages – affluent societies did not get that way because they started out smarter --- rather they were lucky – and they parlayed that luck into advances in technology… including better war machines)

 

-          As we have observed throughout history the strong always trample the weak.  Always.  History has always been a battle to take more in the zero sum game.   The goal is to take all if possible (if you end up in the gutter eating grass the response has been – better you than me – because I know you’d do the same to me)

 

-          And history demonstrates that the weak – given the opportunity – would turn the tables on the strong in a heartbeat.   If they could they would beat the strong into submission and leave them bleeding in the streets and starving.    As we see empire after empire after empire gets overthrown and a new power takes over.   Was the US happy to share with Russia and vice versa?  What about France and England?  Nope.   They wanted it all.  

 

-          Many of us (including me) in the cushy western world appear not to understand what a villager in Somalia does – that our cushy lives are only possible because our leaders have recognized that the world is not a fair place --- Koobaya Syndrome has no place in this world --- Koombaya will get you a bullet in the back --- or a one way trip to the slum.

 

-          Religious movements have attempted to change the course of human nature --- telling us to share and get along --- they have failed 100% - as expected.   By rights we should be living in communes --- Jesus was a communist was he not?    We all know that this would never work.  Because we want more.   We want it all.

 

-          But in spite of our hypocrisy, we still have this mythical belief that mankind is capable of good – that we make mistakes along the way (a few genocides here, a few there... in order to steal the resources of an entire content so we can live the lives we live) ---  ultimately we believe we are flawed but decent.  We are not.  Absolutely not.

 

-          But our leaders --- who see through this matrix of bullshit --- realize that our cushy lives are based on us getting as much of the zero sum game as possible.   That if they gave in to this wishy washy Koombaya BS we would all be living like Somalians.    

 

-          Of course they cannot tell us what I am explaining here --- that we must act ruthlessly because if we don’t someone else will --- and that will be the end of our cushy lives.   Because we are ‘moral’ --- we believe we are decent – that if we could all get along and share and sing Koombaya the world would be wonderful.  We do not accept their evil premises.

 

-          So they must lie to us.  They must use propaganda to get us onside when they commit their acts of ruthlessness.

 

-          They cannot say: we are going to invade Iraq to ensure their oil is available so as to keep BAU operating (BAU which is our platform for global domination).    The masses would rise against that making things difficult for the PTB who are only trying their best to ensure the hypocrites have their cushy lives and 3 buck gas (and of course so that the PTB continue to be able to afford their caviar and champagne) ….  Because they know if the hypocrites had to pay more or took at lifestyle hit – they’d be seriously pissed off (and nobody wants to be a Somalian)

 

-          Which raises the question --- are we fools for attacking the PTB when they attempt to throw out Putin and put  in a stooge who will be willing to screw the Russian people so that we can continue to live large?      When we know full well that Putin would do the same to us --- and if not him someone more ruthless would come along and we’d be Somalians.

 

-          Should we be protesting and making it more difficult for our leaders to make sure we get to continue to lead our cushy lives?  Or should we be following the example of the Spartans  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZeYVIWz99I

 

-          In a nutshell are our interests as part of the western culture not completely in line with those of our leaders – i.e. if they fail we fail – if they succeed we succeed.  

 

-          Lee Kuan Yew is famous for saying ‘yes I will eat very well but if I do so will you’   Why bite the hand that whips the weak to make sure you eat well....  If you bite it too hard it cannot whip the weak --- making you the weak --- meaning you get to feel the whip….

 

-          Nation… clan …  individual….   The zero sum game plays out amongst nations first … but as resources become more scarce the battle comes closer to home with clans battling for what remains…. Eventually it is brother against brother ….

One thing you left out (out of politeness, I suspect).  The real secret of life:

Choose your parents well.

Where you get whelped, and with what sort of traits, pretty much defines the parameters of your existence.  Fair ain't got nothing to do with it.  We can bitch and moan and whine, but it is what it is.  We can call it the fault in our stars, the fault in our genes, or just the randomness of a Universe whose laws really just work at the micro level, but it is what it is.  Never was any different, never will be.

I recently inadvertently heard a radio story about a hospice for Veterans in NewYork.  One featured speaker was a hospice nurse.  She said that anyone who takes the life of another; be it to protect a home, country, or any other reason, is dealing with that at the time of dying.  It ALWAYS comes back. 

 

I was heartened by that.  It is nice to know that people who harm others, taking their life, are faced with their actions and must suffer with them. 

 

It reinforces the karma theory.  All of us will get back what we gave in life.

We were intentionally bred to need that sense of certainty and security. It is what stopped us from creating our own reality and instead choose to live in someone else's.

'Reality' is that there is no certainty for anyone.

If you want to create your own reality you need to accept that if you make your own choices you will inevitably make mistakes along the way. We are brainwashed to fear doing the wrong thing. Yes mistakes can be painful, and deadly, but the more mistakes you allow yourself to make the better you get a dealing with them until eventually you grow to appreciate the lessons you learn from your mistakes and look forward to them because you realize the most meaningful moments and lessons in your life grow out of mistakes that overturn your rigid sense of certainty and correctness.

At this point in my life I realize a 'certain' life would have been the worst choice I could have made and thank my lucky stars for all the screwups I inflicted on myself. I am a far better person for them.

We don't need to defeat those responsible for consensus reality in our society. We only need to learn to think for ourselves and go about our 'own' business instead of their's. Can't pretend this is an easy row to hoe but it is the only way out of the mess our society has become.

Excellent!! Much of what was said could apply to anytime in history. BUT, because "what is happiness". But now is probably most comparable to the times when an empire is truly failing, which does not happen that often. And it seems it is different than the normal malaise because the uneasy feeling crosses all generations if the person has done any investigation at all. I do sometimes wonder though if I am crazy and maybe 45 y.o. men have thought the way I am thinking for the last several thousand years. But, go with the gut it seems to always know what is right(whether you are 8 y.o. and it says that the ramp is too steep and you will crash and burn on your bicycle or you are 35 and it says not to take the job). It may be a lot like Mr Cog says and I must first change myself before I change the world around me.

If you don't (which I think applies to most round here) then you get into that weird situation where you on the one hand live in a fake matirx one way or another, to a certain degree. The article resonates with a lot of people. Many good comments here.
Once your eyes are opened you are indeed free but what may be the greatest challenge in this life is where to compromise.

Downsizing and making life simpler is an option. But so is selling services to the rich and slowly accumulating hard assets. The attempt to get rich in a rigged game is also possible, but you'll trade a pece of humanity for it.

The fact is we evolved here and will continue. We evolve mostly by learning through pain. "No pain no gain" is a saying I still appreciate. I consider conquering obstacles to a better life evolving and that is enough for me as such brings better posterity.

There are those that by word or deed help shape the world for the better and lets be frank, it is better for most of the worlds population in the last 100 years.

But right now in America you must outcompete to have material wealth which lends itself to freedom. It is a jungle out there. While I prefer collaboration the cycle right now is competition. The predator is showing signs of being fat and lazy so the prey can sell back into there own pocket what was stolen. Or downsize... I don't condemn any man for taking either path in a barbell economy. But fence sitting in the middle will not encourage happiness.
