Unleash The Veto: Senate Passes Keystone XL Pipeline Bill
Following Congress, The Republican-led Senate just passed The Keystone XL Pipeline Bill - as expected:
- *SENATE PASSES BY 62-36 BILL TO APPROVE KEYSTONE, DEFYING OBAMA
Nine Democrats joined all of the Republicans who were present in supporting the legislationNow, it is time for President Obama to unleash The Veto Pen...
The Senate on Thursday passed legislation approving the Keystone XL pipeline, moving the Republican-controlled Congress one step closer to a showdown with President Barack Obama over the long-stalled project.
After more than two weeks of floor debate, the Senate on Thursday passed the bill by a 62-36 vote. Debate on the legislation covered a range of topics, including prairie chickens, climate change and renewable energy.
Nine Democrats joined all of the Republicans who were present in supporting the legislation, which would authorize TransCanada Corp. , the company behind the project, to proceed even though the Obama administration hasn’t completed its review of the project.
The House and Senate must now reconcile Keystone bills cleared by each chamber before final legislation can be sent to the White House.
Mr. Obama has threatened to veto any Keystone measure Congress sends to him.

The Kochs won!!!!! Now if only it was worth building it.
The Cock Brothers?
Try the treasonous government is selling off the country to the highest bidders.
Looting the final act of government. In this case it includes a slash and burn protocol.
RIPS
They're gonna build the pipeline?
Must be the last horse has left the barn.
pods
I remains to be seen if they actually build the pipeline - President PencilNeck has said he will use his veto pen.
Well, fucking use it then, or STFU because threatening to use it is not the same as actually using it.
This is just a show from the red team , cuz when the tribe owants something to pass, IT PASSES
Kochs won? No Obama will Veto...advantage Buffett
biggerst losers of the pipeline are Buffet and Gates (railroad tycoons). Biggest winners are the farmers who can nowfinally get train wagons available and a cheaper transport rate over rail.
Biggest losers may be the fools building the pipeline, as tar sands oil is not economic at $40.00 a barrel.
The struggle to recover 30,000 gallons of oil from a pipeline spill into Montana's Yellowstone River is expected to grind to a near-halt in coming days as warmer weather makes ice on the river increasingly dangerous, state regulators and a company spokesman said Wednesday. It was the second oil spill into the Yellowstone since 2011, when an Exxon Mobil pipeline break during flooding fouled an 85-mile stretch of the river with 63,000 gallons of crude. In a Wednesday interview, Montana Department of Environmental Quality Director Tom Livers defended preparations made by regulators for another accident in the wake of the 2011 spill. But he said the latest spill shows periodic company surveys of pipeline river crossings remain inadequate.
Why are all the news sources I can find for this story are all from liberal biased news rags such as the Huffington post, cnn, yahoo news, and the Winnepeg news? Hmmm you don't think they could have an agenda do you? I also like how depending which site you go to the volume of oil spilled gets worse: Winnepeg - 30,000, Huffington post - 50,000, CNN 50,400. I am not saying that the spill is not a bad thing, but a train wreck occured with a bunch of oil tankers in towe and wiped out a small canadian town, Lac-Megantic, and killed like 60+ people. I would say I would prefer a bunch of dead fish over a bunch of dead people. I know the enviro types out there would prefer it the other way around....sick bastards....
Obammie: "I'm glad to have this opportunity to Veto this bi-partisan legislation that is approved by the American people."
Everyone knows that we can all work together to help out the economy with shovel ready jobs.
We already have a Keystone pipeline. It's a long series of leaky railcars stretching end-to-end from Canada to Tulsa. And, of course, the railway is owned by Buffet.
Exactly right.
The tree huggers have mush for brains, as always.
Yup, unless Buffet has squeezed out every last cent of profit out of his railroads, that project is a no go.
What I wonder is if all these expensive projects like free tuition and Obamacare come into existence solely to create more Treasuries because of the severe lack of collateral.
Hey idiot: the government DOES NOT OWN the country. The landowners do. And if they want to sell it to continue to produce low-cost energy, then Obama should not be a DICTATOR and let them.
But go ahead and keep thinking that government should control everything. It's working out very well so far.
Okay, I see where you are going but in point of fact the government DOES own a huge percentage of the landmass of the US.
Even PRIVATE land might not be so private.
Private land is owned by the landowner (citizen), citizen is a subject of government.
It's all collateral to the bank that foreclosed on the actual government.
pods
Don't pay your property taxes then see who owns what. douche bag
precisely.
Exactly... As long as property taxes exist, land ownership in the USA is a farce.
Go to other parts of the world without property taxes and you have true land ownership.
Americans merely rent their land.
And you're saying this is right, douche bag?
What landowners? There are no landowners in the US. Only land renters.
A latvian: What about the landowners who do not want to sell. Such as the native americans who do not want to allow the pipeline to cross their lands? Not saying the pipeline is good or bad but what about the right of the landowner to say NO.
On the pipeline, will it by double walled? The pipeline was to cross one of the most important underground aquifers in that part of the country. Problem being that in the tribal areas reports were that a unusually large percentage of rain water percolated into the aquifer.
Forced sale of land for private industry is just about as wrong as it gets. It's one of the many many things SCOTUS has gotten very wrong over the years.
The government may not own all of the land in the country.
However utility companies can get a right-of-way for public interest powerlines and pipelines for water, oil, gas transport. There is a cash payment to the landowner that they can use to buy even GOLD if they want to bury that on the property.
If there was not such capability then dumb ass latvians would keep the country in the dark ages using horses and cow for transport.
Nice job insulting one of the few EU member states who, after 2008, got off the teet of free money and actually started working for a living, resulting in one of the biggest economic success stories in modern times.
Where are you from, Greece?

It's worthless now... he who hesitates....
No.
The Saudis won this round.
capltd,
Probably only the first of the ignorant posts.
Kochs have no interest in the ownership of the pipe and very little, if any, interest in the oil that will flow through it.
Don't let any facts get in the way of the story.
Good then we can blame Obama for $5 / gallon gas in a year or so when the House of Saud completley bends us over a barrel (no pun intended) and we don't have the XL pipeline in place to help alleviate foreign oil. Face palm...
What the fuck are you talking about? Oil independence threatens the petrodollar, doesn't it? Or maybe you've never heard of it.. ?
I've heard that a dollar spent on oil in the US or Canada is spent on petro.
Were you raised as a muzzie so that you feel sorry for their loss of market control?
No, the dollar you spend on petro is in a fact worthless piece of paper. The fact that it holds any value at all is owed to the PetroDollar regime set up in the early 1970's shortly after Nixon closed the gold window. Our many military forays in that desert hell hole, playing ball with the Saidis, and derailing all common sense measures that would take us toward energy independence is all part of the scheme to prop us a currency backed by $18 Trillion in public debt and, arguably, $100+ Trillion in unfunded liabilities.
I may be mistaken but i thought all the XL pipelie did was sell more oil to the chinese, in order to make our rulers more money at our expense?
It is, but hey, some people never let facts get in the way when there's an opportunity to look like an ass.
get the shit to cushing refine it and ship whereever, but first they must get taxpayer to subsidize.
all along since frac ramp the refiners have been exporting refined dstilates. same game moar oil.
price will be the price based on w.t.i.
new game - same idiot horse shit.
No subsidy for building a pipeline. In fact the pipe will pay a whole lot of property taxes to keep the pols happy.
More jobs means more payroll taxes.
Refineries pay taxes. Shippers pay taxes. Oil sellers pay royalties and taxes.
No tax on imports from the sheiks.
XL pipeline is for exporting oil?
Funny how I've never heard that...
The crackup of the OPEC control would have happened several years earlier if the pipe was operating.
Obama admin is a muzzie sleeper cell.
Not to worry though. Hillary Clinton has the daughter of the Queen of the Muslim Brotherhood as her first assistant. That woman is the Weenie boy's wife.

Does he run out of ink to write executive orders?
Whatcha' wanna bet the empty suit signs it?
I don't recall that he has ever done anything that a majority of Americans supported. My money is on veto.
Give me 100 to 1 odds and I will bet $10 that Obonzo WILL veto it. I need this kind of "leverage" in order to be induced to take your bet.
The Senate still passes bills?
Only when they know for absolute certainty that the bill will either fuck Americans or get vetoed. I think they're safe on this one..
Hey Zero! While you're at it, just go ahead and raise the gasoline taxes "ala" that blood sucking mosquito Pelosi.
"We have to pass the bill before we know what's in it." We'll have our interns check it out!
WHERE IS MILLION DOLLAR BONUS ?
Coaching Sarcastaball.
i propose solar arrays every so many miles to help keep the energy cost(s) down (pumping stations) and of course heating the oil along the way for better flow in the winter month. AND solindra(sp) would be solar panel provider. signed in a heartbeat...
Just more Zionist theater to piss off the neo-con supporting sheeple in preparation for the 2016 sheeple census.
The banksters need to repay us.
I like how no one discusses how fascist is needing the DC US to grant permission to build a pipeline.
Warren "The Crook" Buffet will hand Oboner the pen.
Obama must keep his master, Warren Buffet, happy and veto it.
Berkshire gets a lot of money using the train for transporting oil.
Why bother with a veto?
These folks are determined to build the stupid thing, so let them. Then when oil goes to 20 dollars a barrel, and the project gets mothballed, the politicians who wanted it can explain to their constituents what happened to all those 'jobs'. And why they are now responsible for repaying all the debt incurred during the construction. Because SOMEONE will have to pay, and surely it won't be the banks that lent the money...it'll be the dumb fucks who WANTED it built despite the current realities of the oil market.
The "dumb fucks" are the taxpaying voters, of course.
So, what's the next project? High-speed rail? Sure...go for it, why not?
The "dumb fucks" are the taxpaying voters, of course.
that assumes we have a say-i think not, money to be made by oligarchs with backstops at the bank lvl.
Heh, BO.
You can see the see the dumb ass when you look in the mirror.
There is no tapayer financing for the XL pipe.
Taxpayer voters will benefit from the taxes paid by the pipeline to support the local schools and government.
If you don't think the taxpayers will end up stuck with the tab when those loans go bad, then maybe you should take a look in that mirror yourself, friend.
eminent domain, epa, hs, nsa, host of other agencies, what a clusterfuck. how does anything happen in gaultSA land of the plutonic oligarch rulers. oh yea they get to set the pricing, just like the aca. shake down coming...oil shakeout, then shakedown at the pumps...
Yes, they passed a 6 year old idea!! Now that's progress...
The repubes spend so much time selling out our country to the Chinese we should just take them off our payroll and put them on China's. I mean official payroll, not the millions they already collect in bribes, I mean donations.
That was your boy William Jefferson Clintoon who was on the take for the Chinese contributions. Revered leader of Democrats. Check out his use of Air Lollita.
Republicans have some choices here -- squeeze 5 more senators (probably won't work)
Squeeze the State Department -- call whomever is working on it to Congress EVERY week to give updates
Do the Harry Reid -- basically ignoring Senate rules and doing what you damn well please -- Harry rammed through several things with just a simple majority vote
Attach the Keystone to another bill the Dems want to see passed
Re-work the langauge allowing Keystone to proceed entirely within the US (thus bypassing the State Department) - basically saying it can be built up to within 1 foot of the Canadian border. Then wait for the next election.
Well said. They will attach it to something Barry Soetoro absolutely has to have,
like, EBT payments.
Add Obammie Phones to the EBT payments.
Probably an amnesty bill that even both the Demofarts and the Republiturds want.
Not even OflaminghomO could veto that.
The big question is whether the State Department can sit on this through to the November 2016 election so that Hillary does not have to take a position on it.
That's not 2/3rds vote to override a Veto. Correct???
Not clear yet. Some were not there to vote, and votes often change when it really matters.
Might be close.
you guys are not very respectful of the office of the president
repeat after me
I pledge alliegance to the american fag
and to the public terlet in which he waits
Oil will be 4ever below $50, so is Canadian Fart gas and oil gonna be OK at that?
This is much more about transportation costs and safety than the price of crude. Canada will benefit substantially by the cost savings. As long as there is demand for oil, pipelines are the least awful alternative.
Warren B is not going to like this.
Keystone already pipes oil from Alberta to the Texas coast for refining. Has been since 2013, arguable 2010.
This length of pipeline shaves about 1.50 off a barrel.
Barry doesn't want this because his deal with George Soros and Petrobras for deep sea oil gets fucked and Barry loses his kickback.
We kraken'd some folks.
The illusion of power continues.
Bad for Canada, dangerous for the USA, but I think BP drilling in the Gulf of Mexico is worse. And now the oil industry wants to drill off the Eastern Seaboard. Imagine if we get a BP up there, and the ocean bottom of the Grand Banks gets covered with a blanket of oil and dispersants.
Oh yeah thegreatrecovery ya sure wouldn't want the poor people of the world to have their quality of life improved by cheap hydrocarbon energy would you? No can't have that.
FOAD progressive scum.
Grimaldus
[edited by author] I don't want to take anyone's job away, but I do like to eat fish, and I also think that biological diversity is more important than maybe anything else, in the long run. I fear that the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico will have long-term negative impacts both for the fisheries and for the biological diversity in the Gulf of Mexico, and I would not like for the same thing to happen to the Atlantic coast.
Fuck the Keystone pipeline.
I'll take the "penis mightier" for $1000, Alex.
Fuck the pipeline. Americans deserve all the oil spills and wasted money associated with hauling oil over rail.
