Thanks Obamacare: This Is What Americans Spent The Most Money On In Q4

Tyler Durden's picture

If readers need clarification on what was the primary source of spending-based "growth" for the US economy in the fourth quarter, the same source that bumped up final Q3 GDP from 3.9% to 5.0%, please ping us: we will gladly explain the chart below.  And just in case it is still unclear what Americans are spending their "gas sasvings" on, here it is one more time.

And just in case the fading impact of Obamacare is not already priced in, here is what Q4 inventories did: rising by $113.1 billion in Q4, this was the second highest quarterly increase in the 21st century, second only to September 2010. It's all GDP-crushing liquidations from here.

So big in fact that even the most upbeat permabull has no choice but to admit the truth:

So Duhmericans revived the economy with $55,000 hospital bills for cat bites, Bristol Myers squibb's sick cult of Metformin Worship (metformin raises insulin which raises LDL)- so they can graduate to Bristol Myers Squibb's $500 statins and $800 blood thinners in the same way that pot graduates users to cocaine, meth, heroine and God knows what else they're calling rat poison mixed with baby laxatives.

Meth causes Hodgkins Lymphoma.

The blood thinners are also for angina, from high triglycerides from SUBSIDIZED high fructose corn syrup, recombnant bovine growth hormone in Kraft DAIRY that gives women PCOS and endometriosis (contraceptives are a $5 billion/year market).  Add cost of Vicodin, morphine and whatever else kills pain.  Ultrasounds are supposed to be $120 but the health care centers charge $600.   Estrogens causes high insulin which leads to high LDL and strokes.  Birth control pills causes strokes in women.    Add morphine for the pain, $1000 ER visits for everytime a preventable cyst ruptures, the insane cost of breast cancer treatment (contraceptives causes breast cancer)... if you think college education was overpriced (and it is) - breast cancer "treatment" (exploitation and mugging AGAIN) is worse.   They won't diagnose endometriosis without a laproscopy and that costs thousands, and won't tell you if your endometriosis shows up on the ultrasound (unless a radiologist fills you in) to force women through fear, to MUG women to get a laproscopy--- and the cure for endometriosis is carnitine on empty stomach, calcium with food and olive leaf extract which costs maybe $200/year if you do them right?   Not $2500 repeatedly per appointment which could be several times per year.

Speaking of which, PCOS and Endometriosis both have the potential to become cancerous which gets even more costly!

BPAs for stomach cancer.   Obvious solution.

What is the cost for cancer cures?  5 or 6 figures now?

Metabolic issues is costly.  Autoimmune diseases cost like $10 billion (I think this is a low estimate)- diet industry racks up $66 billion.  Curing street drug addiction would cure metabolic issues which is kind of not goign to make them profit.

Arthritis costs what?  It's CURED with high dose of calcium and magnesium (the stuff you get from Sams Warehouse and Walgreens).

Rhumatoid Arthritis cured by avoidign high fructose corn syrup and things that screw up your liver.    Kid you not.

FLU SHOTS!  As a child, I took my Flinestone vitamins every day (before there was hfcs in them all) and was NEVER sick.
My parents were not the assholes who took the germs to work to make everyone else sick.

Psoriasis is cured with olive leaf extract or lysine.  I believe they are much better priced than whatever creams are on the market.

Flu shots are basically a way of spreading the flu. They give it to the "popular" people.  MY cure for the flu (besides being horribly hated and wildly unpopular) is to chug down chili peppers with garlic (2 teaspoons at MOST), chase with citrus and nori ginger.   That kicked out a painful nasty bronchial pneumonia I had- no visit to the doctors' office, no prescriptions, NO SIDE EFFECTS.  I hear that oregano oil works really well too, but I never needed to try it.

Then we have botox "for migraines", the "medical" marijuana, testosterone shots, Michelle Obama's lipo, Viagra, Xanax, Paxil for insomnia (withdrawal symptoms were non-existance, the suicidal side effects are existant) and I don't even want to know what else.  Speaking of which, benfotiamine or Vitamin B1 cures migraines.

Let's not forget about Hep C and HPV that spread like wildfire.  SEriously they promote tattoos and infidelity to spread these things.

IF you were smart, you paid a medical advocate to get these expenses down (they bully sick people who don't feel well enough to defend themselves financially).

Not only that?  THEY'RE EXPLOITING THE SICK TO ROB TAXPAYERS!!!   And Bristol Myers Squibb still missed their profits.

Whose actually doing the quality control?  It's not dimwitted wall street, the lobbyists or the politicians who are not even quality controlling their mind candy.

Then you go to the Far East- the health care sector isn't considered a money maker due to this wacky concept called PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and REAL FOOD.  AND they smoke in Japan.

So apparently smoking keeps the health care costs down.  Who knew! :)

Between 2000 and 2010 and since the Summer of Love; The idiots in the US spent $TRILLIONS  for chemical cocktails prepped by homocidal sociopaths WITHOUT QUALITY CONTROL.
And you really want to know where the AMA, FDA and Big pharma and 'health care sector' get their bright idea to violate AMA Code of Ethics and Hippocratic Oath.

Moronic post. Typical accusations with no knowedge of medicine. I know...you have the herbal religion. Let's just say that if all the "natural" cures worked as promoted there would be no need for a pharmaceutcal industry or even much of a healthcare industry.

Everyone does need to participate in their own healthcare and make judgements about themselves. I do actually take some supplements myself but I base it on the science not testimonials, vague theories, the latest berry-fad or the near religious beliefs of herbalists.

There is no sustainable effective business model where medicine companies, doctors and even hospitals kill the patients.

Also, understand that Obamacare has nothing to do with your health or providing healthcare. It is about control.

There's so much pork in health care it's not funny.  Insurers for one are driving themselves off a cliff with more non relevant data than they need to run their business.  They do their risk fiddling just like banks except when billing Medicare on Advantage care, the up the risk.

http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2014/09/health-insurance-business-is-driving.html

Here's how $70 billion in said fraud was billed to CMS that we just ate...very complex risk fiddlers here that they jumped on.

http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2014/08/cms-discovers-that-insurers-offering.html

Doctors are not the expensive part of health care either.  This post as a great picture that shows the number of doctors compared to the numbers of administrators in healthcare, hint it's not the doctors that are expensive.

http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2014/08/the-secret-scoring-of-americas.html

Bottom line in a nutshell, we have Wall Street type Quants making money with insurers.  Heck I can't even get people that work in the industry to see this fact, they don't want to go there:)  Could be you have a quant modeling insurance policies today that in a prior job worked at a bank or high frequency trading place and you know what they do best on squeezing out profits for insurers, why they hire them, the only thing that's not needed is speed.

http://ducknetweb.blogspot.com/2014/10/data-scientistsquants-in-health.html

Thos are some areas to look at that major media won't dare bring up, and the fact that we have big stock buy backs with insurers that part of your premiums of course pay for.

What is your real line of work? I know...you deliver pizza to the people who work late in the ICU, right? C'mon, fess up. That would match up well with what you wrote.

when you pay twice what the nearest most expensive product costs you are paying way too much. it is as simple as that. the socialist/free market issue is moot. if this is the free market it failed. if this is socialism, it failed.

if you are part of the system you must have an idea where the failure is. the blame is not on you personally but you are part of the failure.(so is my wife, incidentally)

This is true.  My new GF is an ICU nurse too and she has told me about the demands (usually from family) to TRY anything and DO everything possible to keep a patient that is surely within a whisper of death, to keep them alive for just a few hours more.  She has seen this done for everything from serious traffic accidents to terminal cancer patients on their last breath.

My daughter, just became an RN and she has told me of terminal patients, unable to speak, suffering from debilitating pain and extreme discomfort, wanting to die , but family is keeping them alive at all costs, unwilling to just let them go.

I don't want Death Panels, but I don't want to see this either.  My ICU nurse GF, often sees hundreds of thousands of billables attached to these last few excruciating hours of 'care'.

1 glucose = 31 atp, which is needed to get riboflavin kinase (from Vitamin B12 aka. cobalamin) to absorb riboflavin.

This prevents a lot of insulin overshoots.

Selenium drops cysteine levels.  Cysteine increases unsaturated fatty acids, which will increase insulin per sugar intake.

high insulin = high LDL

calcium blocks fat absorbption.  (clears up acne)

Leucine and Taurine (with slow thyroid) = rise in LDL

High Fructose corn syrup pushes up triglycerides.

I just saved you $180/bottle of statins (the CHEAP stuff)

Bloodwork is cheap through Theranos and Life Extention, otherwise the health care system wants to charge between $250-$2500 for the basic panels.

Speaking of which, antioxidants clears up the signaling (involves mesenchymal stem cells)- speeds up healing, tissue organs and repair.

And they shall call black white; GDP growth, on reflection, is massive reversals of growth. In truth, it shrank 7 percent.

Jeff Nielson’s conclusion for the U.S. consumer economy: Death is very near.  Several GDP detonators can be culled from his must-read ZH contributor article today: U.S. Retail Sector Begins Massive Collapse..

Three million less people are now working in the U.S. since the “recovery” began. Gasoline consumption has plummeted by 60% since the “recovery” began.

…In the real world; inflation is 10+% every year. Thus when attempting to “measure” consumption revenues in the retail sector (which is all that our governments ever measure), revenues will increase by 10+% from inflation alone.

…What happens when we do subtract inflation, and then calculate U.S. retail sales? … we see that U.S. retail sales have been falling every year. Indeed, sales have been falling in nearly every month of every year.

It is after years and years of such sliding that we now observe the latest massacre in the U.S. retail sector. … Factoring inflation into the calculation; 2014 U.S. “Black Friday” shopping plummeted by over 20% year-over-year.

Note also that all of these annual plunges in U.S. consumption are cumulative. Since the “U.S. recovery” was proclaimed into existence; the U.S. retail sector is now only selling about half as many goods as when this pseudo-recovery began. What does it mean when a consumer economy (i.e. a dying economy) is only selling half as many goods as previously? Death is very near.

… When we take the 2% drop in December sales (over just one month) and “annualize” it, we see that U.S. retail sales in December fell at an annualized rate of approximately 25%.

… the December collapse is cumulative with the collapse we saw in November (and “Black Friday”).

…We know that the collapse in U.S. retail sales is real, thus the fantastic GDP numbers reported by the U.S. government for the previous two quarters are just utterly ridiculous lies. Instead of “growing” by a (cumulative) 7% over those two quarters (as reported), it is much more plausible that the U.S. economy shrank by 7%.

It was open-border Socialism that shot the goose that laid the golden egg – namely, our free enterprise system that produced America’s economic prosperity.

Healthcare in the US is oligarchy-controlled (privatized), that's why it costs more per patient than in any other industrialized nation. Obamacare simply made it compulsory to pay the oligarchs.

But the root cause remains the same with or without Obamacare - you pay more, because you're paying oligarchs, who run a racket, not a social service. There's a very simple way too see if I'm telling the truth. Check the cost of US health care VS the OECD average before and after Obamacare. There's no change.

Precisely.  Obama's original goal was to take it out of the hands of the Oligarchs but to please the congressional politicians who wouldn't stand for that, the single payer approach was bastardized and stripped of any features that would prevent the pigs from continuing to fill up at the trough.

Single payer would have tackled the HMO oligarchs, but not the pharma industry oligarchy. That's the root cause of the high prices - if medicine, medical equipment and hospital care is priced by oligarchs, it doesn't matter if healthcare is paid out of pocket, or through taxes (single payer), or through employers. The end result is the same. The solution is single payer + to allow imported medicine, generic drugs and true competition on the market. I don't think Obama ever wanted the latter, as he's sponsored by the pharma oligarchs.

More people are getting insurance via subsidies for Medicare.  The problem is what do you get is the issue.  In California where I am, Medicaid is the bottom of the barrell for pay so very few doctors will take it.  There has been a federal subsidy for two years to increase what is paid but that's running out and not sure if the state will continue it.

Keep in mind insurres have hired armies of quants and they design policies so you know what's going on there.  What does Medicare and NHS now have in common?  They are now both run by former executives of United Heatlhcare.  Here's the rub too with insurers that billed $70 billion which may never be collected in risk fiddler fraud.  There are 4 whistle blower lawsuits for this as well.
