i always like to recall Bernie Schaffers reference to Groundhog Day, the movie. We have this as well. Mrs. M think I am wrong to worry about this. I disagree. Mrs. M thinks I am conspiracy nut. I will admit to being a bit of a nut but it is not a conspiracy and she doe not see any problem with Common Core yet I do. Tell me what this is.
For my part it does not sit well. What is meant by the statement that 9+6 might make "learners" uncomfortable. The implication here is that learning what 9+6 equals is going to cause some emotional damage to the learner. What the fuck? Oh really. And since when did the number 10 become a friend of the students? Base-10 is metric and that is why Mrs. M thinks it is OK but how many are there in a foot? Yeah 12 so that is base-12. I didn't say it was the best system I do not see it changing. American might be dumb we do know that there are 5280 feet or 1760 per mile. There are 43560 square fert per acre. How feet are in a chain? 66 feet.
All science is done in base-10 but everything else is base-12. Circulating coins are done in base metal but that another story. I think metric is fine and I am not sure why why hold on to on English measurements but we do. But still it has has nothing to do with 9+6. What if it was 9 meters plus 6 meters? Or nine cows plus six more. Or nine of anything plus six more? Is the end number going to change? Not in my world.
You folks be the judges but I call bullshit here for that. That is a waste of taxpayer dollars for crying out loud. We have to pay some worn out old hag to tell our "students" about base-10? What for? You are paying for it too. The train has derailed and went off the bridge with crap like that.

I bet it bothers you as much as it does me that people can find groundhogs cute. The last one I dispatched weighed no less than 25 lbs, the fallen apples must ave made him tasty though as the carrion birds had him gone in less than 3 days.
Now I only wish rodents of the bankster variety were the ones eating my dead apples and digging holes all over my yard, I'd happily give them my usual reception awarded to greasy rat faced vermin.
