I was too busy teaching my son, watching my 3D printer, and drinking REAL beer to see some budweiser commercial tell me I'm not a "real" man for snubbing fake beer while watching dirty whores and meat-heads pound each other over the privilege of carrying a ball that was probably made in China.
Do you have a 3D printer? I was looking into purchasing one myself. Do you have any recommendations?
Yeah... I prefer the open RepRap printers and put together a Prusa i2 kit but it took a lot of tweaking and extras to get it printing smoothly. The community seems to be shifting more toward the delta printers now, so that will probably be my next one.
As far as recommendations, there's so many now it's impossible to keep track of them all and it really depends on how much you want to spend, what quality you're expecting and what kind of hands on involvement your comfortable with.

I've got the Orion Delta. It is ok, but like many of the hobby level ones out there, it is a bit cheesy on the mechanical design. I've had to replace several parts that broke under normal operation, and I haven't used it all that much either. Results are ok, but not great. Note - I'm not a real afficianado, it belongs to a client who wants me to design new control circuits and firmware.
My conclusion (based on very limited experience) is that these things are at the level of home computers in about 1979..... lots of geek hobbyists playing around at the level of playing pong, but a long way from usefully integrated yet. Cool for kid's science projects, though.

German newspaper Spiegel reported that the keylogging virus "Regin" has source code very similar to the "Qwerty" virus.
The new analysis provides clear proof that Regin is in fact the cyber-attack platform belonging to the Five Eyes alliance, which includes the US, Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. However neither Kaspersky nor Symantec commented directly on the likely creator of Regin.
IT security firm Kaspersky identified significant portions of identical source code which is embedded in both programs. The company worked with Symantec to complete the earlier analysis of Qwerty.
The malware has been in circulation for over 10 years and had been deployed against targets in at least 14 countries, including Germany, Belgium and Brazil as well as India and Indonesia.
Both Symantec and Kaspersky did not shy away from superlatives when describing the malware program, calling it a "top-tier espionage tool" and the most dangerous cyber-weapon since Stuxnet, the notorious malware program used to attack the Iranian nuclear program.

You know, about 15 years ago I dated this girl. She was really hot and really smart, but things never seemed to progress, the relationship would constantly get derailed over little things, sometimes I'd do something and she'd be overjoyed about it and I'd do the same thing six weeks later and it'd unleash satan. I spent months analyzing it, trying to figure out the pattern of what I was doing wrong, keeping track of every minor detail, trying to understand her. I ended up asking a psychologist about it, shared my notes, and asked why I couldn't figure this out.
The answer ended up being life altering for me. The girl was crazy, and because of this, her responses were completely random. I was trying to understand a pattern that was as consistent as the numbers that come up rolling dice. Sometimes you can't understand something because it's simply crazy. So you ask "Why, Why now, Who benefits?" and I think about it, and our typical TPTB answer or whatever, but I think we're to the point where it's surpassing that. I think we're just dealing with crazy.
Paranoia knows no limits, and TPTB are getting nervous. We're close to the collapse, and they desperately need wars to cover it up, and people just aren't buying the bullshit anymore.
The fundamental issue I think is how weak their cases are, we're seening levels of hype against Russia we haven't seen since the the peak of the cold war, and the absolute best case made is a handful of soldiers crossing the border into a neightboring country the US just caused a coup in, and the evidence for even that is sketcy at best. No missiles in Cuba, no invasion of Afghanistan, no communist uprisings in latin america (plenty of commie collapse going on there, though!)
They're rapidly assuming everyone is the enemy -- other countries, allies like Germany, their own citizens -- so I'd expect even more crazy spying/cyberwarfare stuff to happen. I commented a couple weeks ago I'd installed a cellular spying notification tool on a disused smartphone of mine, and had a notice of an attempt to compromise the phone in under a day, with enough log evidence to convincement it was very much a real attempt. Now, outside of bitching on ZH, I am about a boring as it could possibly get, with a social life one step above living in the parent's basement. There's no reason for anything like this, yet it happens.
None of this is something a sane, stable government does. So you have to assume the opposite, that the US government is insane and unstable.Crazy. We see it in headlines here almost every day.
I think we're witnessing the equivalent of a nervous breakdown in the US federal government, due to the cognitive dissonance of having completely fucked the country economically and socially to protect it from enemies that never existed, and it's had a psychotic break from reality to keep the myth going on inside it's collective head. I don't condone Immoral and illegal behavior. Sadly it has become accepted by a larger number of people than at any other time in recent history. The media glamorizes organized crime and more recently the bankster lifestyle. Now seemingly, the largest segment of organized crime or at least the most visible.
Law enforcement and the courts really do nothing to curb their illegal activities. So they are being rewarded for it. That environment changes some people for the worse.
So you see more and more scam artists just about anywhere you look. Some of the scams so crude and clumsy it is laughable. What isn't too funny are identity theft, tax return fraud as one example. It is exploding and the IRS does not really seem to be able to do much to curb it. Or could they? Or are they afraid that if they went to positive ID PIN system for every taxpayer that that would get hacked and make it worse?
It does seem as though there has developed a higher level of abandonment of morality. Get rich quick and get out, I think much of the growth is attributable to the fact that corruption is so widespread, so prevalent and so visible that people are De-sensitized to it. There is also a lot of desperation out there going on year seven of a world wide depression.

It only works with certain android phones with a subset of Qualcomm chip sets, but I happened to have one (Galaxy Young, a super-cheap samsung android throwaway.)
There's a second app, IMSI-Catcher Detector, that is similar as well, but SnoopSnitch seems to be a bit more broad in the feature set.
I let it run for a few days on a personal phone sim, and nothing came up. I swapped it out for my business phone sim, and got a hit within a few hours. It's interesting because I kept having my business phone spontaneously reboot every couple days, and I suspect this was connected. SnoopSnitch reported that I was getting sent a binary SMS (which is highly unusual for SMS) from a particular number. I googled that number and there were dozens of complaints of people getting "gibberish" or blank texts from it (which makes sense given it's a binary payload.) No one knows who or what is behind that number, but the next discovery I had is pretty big clue.
All that was intriging, but to me the most intriging part is... So my cell provider, like many, documents every single SMS recieved, the time it came it and the source number for billing purposes. This text message... never appears on the bill.
You realise phone providers use multimedia SMS's to configure your phone network settings "Over The Air"... Google "OTA SMS".
They probably discovered an unconfigured device and were trying to set your phone to work with their gateways.

Sometimes I agree with your analysis and think that yes, this is insanity or TPTB are cracking up. Then I look at it another way. It's all going according to plan. Follow the money and you see that psychopaths who drean this shit up AND THOSE WHO FUND THEM or are connected to them socially, economically, and politically just seem to get richer, more powerful, and never seem to miss a beat while everyone else seems to experience hard times. There have been quite obvious examples of true insanity. We can always default to Adolf and the tragic farce of that time. While current powers definitely utilise similar methods (propaganda, demagoguery, police state tactics, Keynesian economics, etc) I believe the motivation is far less a force of a collective insanity. Honestly, I think if things were going to plan, none of this would be happening, and the theft would go unnoticed. I think what we're actually seeing right now is a mad scramble to grab on to whatever they can before the ship sinks, Increasingly the moves seem ad-hoc to me. Yes, you can argue that there is some grand plan by complete psychopaths to collapse the system so they can roll out a new one, etc, but when I look at it with fresh eyes, I see a system that's already collapsed, and yet the Fed, ECB etc are scrambling to save it. There's an inherent conflict in that. It could be that the puppets are just ill-informed as to the plan, or it could be that there's more than one faction in play here, and one wants more time and the other less. But looking at it right now, collectively the behavior is, well, crazy. I think if there is/was a plan, we're so far off of it that they're having to wing it, or the plan has simply failed and they're trying to come up with a new one in real time. Unless the plan was simply create unorganized chaos everywhere, there's no plan that's working. (And if that indeed was the plan, well, that's crazy as well.)
My sense is yes, was there was a plan for some sort of unified global control, that had been in play for the better part of one hundred years, but that today's world reflects its failure a few years short of the goal, and the players are getting increasingly desperate to force it to happen and getting crazier and more frantic with each passing day when it doesn't, and that as the insiders themselves have lost faith as they see this and they are quietly (or not so quietly) packing their own lifeboats to the limit before the big ship sinks. Yes, opportunists will surface during and after, but this is looking way less like a unified master plan and a lot more like and insane clusterfuck that's out of control.
You're providing good examples of this, clearly different factions benefit from the presence or absence of the pipeline -- they're not unified in the outcome. There are other signs of a breakdown in cooperative efforts within TPTB as well, and I think they add up to this craziness. Sort of like the TPTB have a sudden case of multiple personality disorder, which may be syptomatic of a loss of leadership with a single focus which has been replaced by a committee with dozens of conflicting interests.
My takeaway with all this wordiness? This much crazy means chaos will reign, so be prepared, be flexible, stay loose and frosty. Bumpy ride ahead.

When trying to analyze TPTB's actions, you MUST understand their true intent. Otherwise of course their actions will seem random.
Most people can't emotionally handle TPTB's true intent, and so end up concluding that they are acting randomly, crazily, totally disorganized 'every man for themselves'.
But it isn't so.
Their plan is and has been for at least 50 years, to depopulate the Earth. Down to around 500 million or even less. They believe it's crucial for the survival of Earth, to eliminate about 6.7 billion people, the sooner the better.
This mega-death has to be done in a way that doesn't obviously originate from TPTB, otherwise they risk losing control and finding their own few thousand selves swinging from lamp posts. And so, the plan *requires* a great deal of chaotic progressive collapse, that superficially appears to be 'just one disaster following on from another', as a kind of self-sustaining natural chain of events beyond anyone's control.
Except in reality, it's deliberate. There are *some* random events, but most of it is going as intended. The next stage is war combined with epidemics, combined with 'innoculation compaigns' that are actually delayed sure-kill shots, producing extremely high mortality from apparently unrelated natural causes such as cancer, spread over a few years after the shots.
The destruction of America as a free, informed, well armed and industrially capable society, along with the Internet, is also part of the plan.

From what I have seen on Russian TV, spoken by Russians, they are very aware that all of their cheap foreign credit was cut off to their economy with the banking sanctions. Their businesses are left with taking out 17% plus loans in Rubles. Hence Russia will probably be dropping the shit out of its interest rates. But they pulled no punches on the descriptions.

Regarding what's happening in Ukraine, the US media provides nothing but bullshit. The coverage is one sided based upon misrepresentations, omissions of truth and distorted one sided coverage. Only the news that fits the fabricated narrative is allowed to be on the air. So when RT shows Kiev forces shelling civillian areas, using heavy artillary and white phosphorus, this is something the US mainstream media cannot show as it doesn't fit the narrative. Kiev is good guys, DPR is evil bad guys supported by Russia, Putin=Satan.
I'm beginning to think Russia being badasses is all a fantasy by all of us and not anything near a reality. They still have a fucking US Embassy in Russia?
