America, We Have A (Drug) Problem
Prescription drug abuse and addiction is becoming a more common form of substance abuse due to the easy availability of pharmaceuticals from physicians. In most cases of prescription drug abuse, the user was prescribed medication for a temporary or long-term medical condition. Occasionally, individuals begin to use a family member or friend’s medication, leading to steadily needing more of the drug to keep feeling its physical and mental effects.

They can't tolerate being.
"Reality is for people who can't face drugs."
I'm the only one I know who isn't on some kind of mind-bending prescription drug. Just because I get a little down in the cold months and get cabin fever doesn't mean I need a mood elevator like my MD keeps suggesting.
Please refer to the late great Sam Kinnison's routine on "drug problems".
"The Betty Ford clinic costs $10,000. If you've got $10,000 you don't have a drug problem yet."
If you want to pump that poison into yourself, be my guest. Done plenty of it myself when I was younger. I'm not the cops and I'm not your Mom. But if you think it's not going to affect you later, you're kidding yourself. I've paid that price. More than some, less than others, but the piper must be paid eventually.
Speaking of drugs, here's some home video of a banker making his way through a party. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yja2VmZOfdA
At 33 seconds in, you can hear the market open.
Took me a minute to get it, but I got it.
Barry is probably in Bongladesh as we speak.
The only thing I like about zero is that he did not send the Feds to raid Colorado and Washington, which he could have. I haven't partaken in a long, long time, but I have in the past and was lucky enough not to end up in jail over it. Many politicians who still partake and whose kids partake have no problem jailing everyone else. Of course in zero's case it was probably just a political move, but still. The only thing worse than a politician is a hypocrite. And most politicians are both.
Agreed. Not only did he do that, but he snubbed his nose at the DEA by stating that alcohol is more harmful than marijuana (and he's right on that). It's physiologically impossible to overdose on marijuana. Yet, it is classified as having "no medical use" (which is also a flat out lie) and growing it carries stiffer penalties than manufacturing meth (Schedule I vs II drugs). What an insane world we live in. I think it goes to show you how difficult it is to repeal dumb laws, even in the face of overwhelming evidence. Unfortunately, the vast majority of local, state and federal law falls under the "horseshit" category. Lots of work aheaad of us, ZHers.
9.4% of the US population has used illicit drugs in the last month.
SO.... 90.6% have NOT used illicit drugs in the last month.
The 'War on Drugs' is a war on the people and a war on freedom. Period.
As the police state process works itself to completion, things like the war on drugs, etc, etc is just another way to grab more of ownerships' (us - the American gentry) harvest: How: DOT needs dollarsfrom the FED. This requires primary bank broker. Meaning: Margin stands for the primaries who acquire bonds visa via the hypthocation scheme acronymed LSAP at a FED auction, thus prducing the obviously consequential margin stands when the primaries sell them to them back to governemt institutions, and private sector. Result: Always has to be WAR. That is the explicit mission of the FED since it's inception, to finance WAR. Consequeces: ThHe printing required is enormous. This inflates the USD, thus pricing up paper assets as well goods services food and, of course, the latest and greatest handheld, for American households.
The faux pushback, according to FMOC minutes, requires the FED to short gold. When equity classes tumble, the fed shorts treasuries.
Why is the post office lossing money, aside from the fact that K Street Kiddie Lovers on CSPAN are getting fresh oracles daily from UP your Ass? Cause the USPS can only invest in USTs.
To counteract we are told that some 4th world shithole has this or that capability to catapult shit over castle walls, thus wee need more and more bomb and bullet didpensers. THe money ain't in the dispensors, it is in the bullets and bombs. For sure the instruction to every pilot before he starts a mission sorte, is to empty or dump his ordinace before returning (aaaaah cost plus). one sidewinder can pay for a median American home. 50 rounds of 20 mm GE gat munition can pay for a new low end car.
Today, if one says, "The king has no clothes", TSA will have a cattle prod probing where the sun don't shine
We are told that the 4th world shit hole has agents under almost every American bed who desire to fuck fat bleach blond reality TV engorged American wives cause "they hate us for our freedoms and our want our women" (wild and crazy guys). So our very fine Prez, Afred E Nueman, floats the shit, the boys, the girls, the bullet and bomb dispensers along with the bullets and bombs, to said 4th world shithole to protect us from the flyswatters the 4th world shithole's goat ranchers use to control their flocks.
Commodies story up. Afghanistan required 400 fucking million gallons of fuel a day just to top of marine assets. No over the horizon shithole to story up the fear, meaning no Goldstein puppet for Oceania's sheeple to view on their hand helds, is only bad news for Big Box Enegry. But still offers the propect of shilling "homegrown" demon lovers trying to seduce our freedoms away because they hate us for having cooler handhelds than they got, enchance the conseuential merger of US defense firms US home grown terror agencies and our local (civil) police.
Why is oil down the bumbkin in the third row asks?
The only problem with the war on drugs is that it don't take no 400 fucking million gallons of petro to send however many swat teams to some poor misstargeted blokes house and shoot his dog.
Drugs sure enhance orgasms. MAYBE THEY SHOULD HAVE A WAR ON ORGASMS!
Whose fault is it. Just look in the fucking mirror, a-w!
Rand Paul's campaingn advisor is helping Bibi get his game on? Wigs must be expensive these daze.
Link please or did I miss the sarc tag
Personally, I've been waiting for marijuana legalization for 50 _years_ and it's finally starting to be allowed mostly due to basic gov greed (which is FINE by me - whatever it takes).
Tylers, would appreciate articles on the biz aspect of marijuana like we see on Dailybell:
http://dailybell.com/trends-and-sector-reports/36048/Cannabis-Sector-Report-US-Cannabis-Industry-Exploding-In-Spite-of-Fed-Roadblocks/
Thanks.
That's only a weeks worth of blow for Wall Street.
"I don't like cocaine but I love the way it smells."
Looks like a Methylamine tanker train.
Trainspotting
We were lucky to get through that period relatively unscathed. I never got strung out on anything because I had to go to work and outperform to get ahead. Anything that takes the edge off or causes hangovers just isn't "fun" anymore. Vacations are a different matter altogether. Work hard, play hard as they say.
The biggest beef I have is that some folks need narcotics to live productive lives. I have degenerative disk disease, several disks in my lower lumbar are almost nonexistent but I still need to work everyday and refuse to join the FSA. So, I have been on methadone for over 5 years, I never get "high" from it and it allows me to be productive. My point is that all of these abusers have fucked it up royally for me. I have MRIs going back 2 decades showing this condition worsening, there is no doubt I need these meds. As a result of all of the junkies getting these meds is a fucking nightmare and at anytime they could cut me off. The hoops folks like me have to jump through are unreal when it would probably be far easier to go to the hood and score some smack. The stories I could tell would make your head spin. Thanks a lot Rush Limbaugh and the other narcotic doctor shoppers who have mad my already bad situation even worse.
NuckingFuts, I know what you mean bro. What else really sucks, is that one could stir in a ball of raw, opium latex into their coffee a few times a day and get relief, but God forbid we grow flowers.
Thanks dude, I agree on the opium also. Let me manage my own health. Cheers to you and your common sense.
Spinal stenosis is no joke - and yes, opioids are taken just to function as normally as can be hoped for.
Nowadays even Vicodin requires a monthly trip to the doctor's office to hand walk the paper scrip to the pharmacy because of all the idiots who doctor shopped, and pill mills in the white trash belt from West Virgina to Florida.
The hysteria over this stinks because we seem to be so short memoried of the housewife pill frenzy in the 60's that we seem to have survived. Valley of the Dolls anyone? Bueller? I also don't see any condemnation of the massive over precription of industrial strength speed pumped into the millenials at a stupendous rate. Anybody else here ever tried an Adderall? It is more than disconcerting to think about what it might do physically to the daily users later in life. Let's talk about the SSRI's that we know were involved in Columbine, something I am sure the fat liar Moore delved into in his crockumentary, not (I did not see it). The Big Three pharmas finance news and sports with their ED advertising, while their real moneymakers are the zombification meds that modern kids are prescribed at the first sign of hormonal activity. It is sad, really sad, and yet the hysteria is over pain meds. I know because the outgoing AG told me so. I hope the door hits him in the ass, really hard.
Thanks for the understanding. And, yes I have tried adderall.... Pure speed. A whole generation of speed freaks coming up, watch out.
I'm glad there are at least a few folks here who, like me know better than the hysterics. It is entirely likely that I will soon be confined to my bed when the ban-happy eco-mentalist moon-bats succeed. It's relativism ad nauseum until it all comes crashing down.
I hope you are making provision as best you can for a disruption in the supply chain. If you can put up with a little extra discomfort now, you will buy some time when scrips are not being filled. Being able to function when things look dicey is worth it imo.
PS - read good things about the Linberta semi-auto shotgun being pimped (50/50 deal) by Bud's Gun Shop. Crazy good price, too. If you have physical limitations, a semi-auto is actually much more body friendly than a single shot. Recoil is dissipated by the gas reloading system.
That would be a SERIOUS issue if/when TSHTF!!!
The way things work, patients can't get more than a one month supply of the more controlled drugs, and you can't get refills. If everything went to hell, someone will only have what's left in their bottle. They could make a run for the nearest pharmacy, but I'm sure it'll be cleaned out, or you'll be fighting others that had the same idea.
A no win situation.
(learn how to grow certain flowers that have medicinal properties would be my advice)
No worries on that score. I am prepared -- but in a way that looks like I am not. You know what they say: A rolling stone gathers no moss, especially when it rolls right over the screaming, starving hoards. (I added that last bit) But as mentioned there are issues with securing a good quantity of reserves with the strict regulations that *exist. So I will be looking into alternatives much like the plant fella suggests. My "other location" could easily be salted with various things that should keep me comfortable until I stroke-out, or fall into a shit-pit in a drunken stupor while patroling the man-traps around the perimeter.
*Don't let anyone fool you that regulations are lax. They are not. It's just a relatively few doctors and bent pharmacists causing all the ruckus. It could easily be stopped but that is not the aim to begin with.
Very heartening for me to here from others. Sometimes one feels like the lone responsible user of narcotics. If they cut me off I am sure I would have godawful withdrawals at this point, after that I either eat a shotgun, move to the black market while I can afford it or move to a country where I can acquire my meds more easily. Not many other choices at this point.
After some of the stupid fucking posters I have been reading here lately it is reassuring to know that there are still some folks who understand and care about their fellow ZH'ers. God bless.
.
And who could blame us? We have a psycho-narcissist leader who blames slavery, Jim Crow laws, Katrina, Sheriff Arpaio, Benghazi, and The Carpenters on Christianity.
Hey now, Karen had a great voice. Coulda hired a better songwriter, but great voice.
on a long enough time line we're all zeros.
Is the goal to leave a perfect corpse and a perfect bank account?
Guess what the whole worlds on drugs and has been since humans began grazing. Get your panties in a wad cause big pharmas tryin to move a few kilos of pyschtropic substances.
The army's guardin poppie fields in afghanistan and the CIA is selling crack in LA.
More people die from taliking on cellphones and driving in a year, than have ever died from cannabis consumption. But cannabis is illegal and scheduled as the same as heroin by the government.
Its a fuckin joke, I should be worried cause people are on drugs in a society of surviellance, empty consumer consumption and bereft of community or common hope?
WTF? to be sane in an insane world is to be slowly driven mad. If your not drinkin or taking drugs legal or otherwise, your not paying attention.
Might be "Seasonal Affective Disorder", especially if you live "where the Winter sun don't shine much at all".
Try a Light Box - http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/seasonal-affective-disorder/in-depth/seasonal-affective-disorder-treatment/art-20048298
It's not homeopathy - these things actually DO work for some individuals, and there are a lot of very good references out there, all in the public domain, e.g. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2679625
I just spend a lot of time being active outdoors. Beats the shit out of 4 walls and a light box.
I'm in Canada, so the days are short and cold in January.
Try giving up flour of all descriptions for two week's you will find the depression stop's and the violant dream's
I don't want to alter my state of Consciousness, by ingesting some form of body/mind numbing chemicals, any more than it's (naturally) been altered, aside from the crap in the air, food and water (that ends up being unintentionally absorbed into my system). The massive consumption of drugs in America shows how unhappy most people are. Sad commentary on how malleable the minds of the masses have become.
Cannabis is not a drug, it's health food!
By the way, how did alcohol get to take a pass on the addiction thing? - Don't even need a prescription.
Oh, yeah, and nicotine.
Notice that alcohol and nicotine make corporations and government a fucking fortune?
Make yer own alkyhawl and grow yer own tabackee. Fuck the tax man.
high glycemic foods cause depression. start eating a primal diet with no grains or sugars or high fructose corn syrup and youll be walking on air all day. speaking from experience.
oh you got it! and everybody is now a expert on diagnosing by-polar disorder!
I love adderall. Much better than coke these days.
Thin the herd.
That has to be the most economic use of words ever! CONGRATS!
If you are reading this and do not have 87 billion or more in liquid assets, you are the problem and the problem will be dealt with.
Well, at least its not something like Russian vodka, Cuban cigars or Turkish coffee.
Its just listless statists telling everyone they have a problem ;-)
There is no Drug Problem in the USA.
There is a Drug Withdrawal problem in the USA.
Now that problem will be exacerbated due to the forecasted shortages from the oncoming fianancial collapse.
If any of you are using any addictive drugs, anybody out there that is, then I suggest strongly that you withdraw today in relative comfort. Yes it may be uncomfortable today.
If you are addicted when the shortages of food, water and fuel hit then satisfying those problems will be compounded by the need to satisfy the withdrawals from your chronic addiction. It will be quite a bit more uncomfortable, quite painful actually, at that stage in the progression of this nightmare.
These are controlled substances, the way the business works and the pills are being popped I'd argue there are a few heavily guarded warehouses full of them somewhere. Ever wonder what would happen if someone did a Brave New World a dumped in all in a river? Worse yet switched them over for something else that didn't do what it said on the bottle. Ghetto rumours aboud of efforts to wipe out the junky and wino population with spiked merchandise. Maybe the pentagon should look into that. DEA shock troops guarding fortified bunkers full of vicodine.
On a trip to mexico earlier this year I saw these drugs for sale in super markets without any sort of perscription. My heart goes out to the posters talking about the problems they have in getting the stuff they need for real medical issues especially if your not a shill posting here to move public opinion but you have to ask yourself with million slipping across the border if any sort of drug control regime is actually a massive waste of time. Its a days drive and i imagine a crate of this stuff isn't that hard to hide. Same story with the blow and meth reagents. Don't go to the Obama Care in the hospital go to the Oscar care at the Taco bell parking lot.
As much as I'm not a big beleiver in the shit hitting the fan scenario there is massive scope for abuse of this to the point where it has political ramifications. Uncle Sam the pusher man, forget change, forget hope we got bread, games and dope. The pharmaceutical industries are smart enough to lobby for both sides, I clearly remember Dubya Bush legislating free meds for the elderly. I honestly beleived that might of been his silver lining along with cutting the funding for the population control programs that were piggy backing on "sexuall education". A part of me wonders if Grandpa is now tripping his nuts off, hard as a rock from the premium viagra all at the tax payers expense.
To throw the Bible reference in to go full subversive weirdo I'm pretty sure there is a bit about everyone being on drugs in the Book of Revelation. Not a doomer but you get a sense that mass Drug abuse might explain some of the greatest fuck ups in history. Economically speaking its better than anything, a luxury good that grows out of the ground, addicts everyone, creates its own demand and turns the dependents into maniacs thus rendering it by common sense subject to tight monopoly or cartel control. The Germans had MDMA and Crystal Meth during the war. Having a large section of the population taking that stuff might explain the goose stepping and people in tears of joy at the sight of a Swastika. The coke in the London water supply is starting to show up in tests. Its good to see the City of London have taken the economic crisis in their stride.
I'd argue the stuff needs to be regulated. Its fucking evil. Even if someone can handle their shit many many people can't. The same way we have welfare and college for bums that cant handle a days work there needs to be serious efforts to limit the supply less things take their natural toll and the demand grow magnifying the effects. My shrink says I can't handle my shit but the voice of Charlie Sheen I've been hearing in my head for the last 2 years says I can. I'm living the debate one LSD flash back at a time.
Ignorance has become a chronic illness.
A pill for ignorance would actually be useful.
The guy at the bottom of the graphic has some ginormous blue pills.
I have been saying for years "Don't go looking for stupid people because you will find far more than you bargained for"
Ignorance is curable its the little red pill called education. Its stupidity thats incurable and endemic.
when i say education i don't mean school, though most are trained to equate the two words. they like most are mal-educated by our government schools.
What a joke, the whole point of the .gov schools is to crush your curiousity and turn you into a mal-educated drone full of lies and social conditioned to acquiese to the pyschopaths in charge.
drugs will open your eyes to the lies, but not the ones on the government approved lists.
We doped up some folks.
This schmeil reallly tickles me!
We had a "customer" come into ED a few weeks ago. "Consumed" 28 Targin 20/10 (Oxycodone 20mg / Naloxone 10mg) as a "single hit", and arrived with a GCS around 6. Deteriorated rapidly despite intervention (i.v. naloxone, gastric lavage) and died primarily as a result of opioid induced respiratory arrest (and we suspect an element of aspiration pneumonitis since his WCC and CRP were well up there!)
That's ONE Packet of Targin 20/12, folks. . . . . .
He had no previous D&A admission history, so Psych liaison think this was an opioid-naive individual, hence the severity of the effects. Makes you think though.
No.way could there be a drug problem in America.
Big Pharma would never make anything that would harm people, and the US FDA would never approve anything harmful.
I had surgery after an accident, in Nevada.
Released from hospital the doctor gave me an Oxycodone (OxyContin) prescription "to use if necessary while healing" but emphasized I would need to get it filled in Nevada before going back to my home in California. Because California has disallowed all sales of Oxycondone state-wide (if I understood that correctly.)
So let me get this straight: because some dumbshits abuse it or even rob pharmacies for it, the responsible user has a well-understood and very safe drug completely withheld from him, at least in CA??
How fucked up is all this.
Zero hedge is my drug of choice. I have a COP friend, we'll call him douche bag for short . Douche bag tells me 8 out of every 10 stops he does in a shift, the person behind the wheel is on some form of prescription drug.
Pharmaceutical nation.
I thought at first that the picture on the front of this article was(fittingly) Kudlow (pill popping king?)
One in Four Americans is on Heavy Psychotopics. One in Two on a Presciption. One in three on multiple prescriptions.
Got to keep the loonies on the path.
The lunatic is on the grass.
The lunatic is on the grass.
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs.
Got to keep the loonies on the path.
The lunatic is in the hall.
The lunatics are in my hall.
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more.
And yet, all the proper forms are in order, signed by state sanctioned & certified licensed "practitioners" so they're free to go. Just move along, move along.
Makes ya wonder sometimes if they just hate the competition ;-)
Dont forget about the generation of very f'ing weird kids who grew up taking Ritalin et al. I can just imagine when most cops patrolling the streets are these losers...
Pot smoker and Cheif, Obama, leads the druggy nation. No surprise.
The fact that O smoked pot is almost irrelevant, except for where it shows up his total hypocricy.
Weed's a good thing, in so many ways.
You are getting junked over this? We really are doomed when so many truly FEAR, the greatest gift the creator gaves us, the Cannabis plant!! Fucking Idiots, educate yourself about this amazing plant.
I thought it was Vagina? Didn't the lord give us Vagina and the devil took it away by tricking Eve into eating a Hershey Bar which made her start wearing clothes and going to college?
Shit I'm gonna flunk RE. Might as well just smoke some more weed.
There's no such thing as a "drug problem" until you can no longer get the drug. THEN it's a problem.
What's going to happen is when someone truly needs the drug it will take weeks to get 'federal' approval.
I don't wanna hear a thing about a national drug problem unless the target of our discussion is the normalization of medication dependency courtesy of Big Pharma.
Honestly, I wish I could afford access to health care, because I'd love to have a prescription drug problem. After all it'd probably kill me slower and give me more enjoyment in life than an alcohol problem, but that's what a blue color wage offers.
Grow a little weed and don't cave into envy.
In my experience, weed can only help so much. If you have too much spiritual energy to begin with you'll be drawn to it like a moth to a flame, and then you'll try to dim the excessive brightness with a depressant. Honestly, I wish I could go through life feeling like I was on MDMA, but that destroys you in one of a few bitter ways - either you destroy your brain's capacity to transduce happiness, or you share yourself so much that you load up on diseases that will destroy you.
When it comes to life in this world, you can't swallow the toxin but you can't spit it up either.
Well stated.
If it controls you, you've gone to far. Like anything else, greed & lust or dare I say it, kindness & generosity can be abusive if used improperly.
Moderation in all things. I like sex, like it quite a bit and if there is a chick involved instead of going it solo it is even better. :-)
I have had a few friends whose entire life evolves around the next lay. What they wear, what they drive, how they behave, all tend to be steered by that next bj or roll in the hay. Poor bastards! /s I'm gonna go catch a weed buzz now and do some work. Prolly bang the ole lady tonight. Life is good today.
No pills for me here. I do like some weed but I haven't smoked in over a year and a half because I might get drug tested. I did buy a case of beer tonight though with no problems.
Drugs, sports, alcohol, television... anything to smoke the beehive.
Funnily enough a friend of mine smokes his beehives with cannabis leaf.
You could just about approach them naked after that.
Yes we have a drug problem, its called koolaid an there is way too much out there.
Another problem with a trivially simple solution:
Recycle ALL the drug addicts.
That's funny though - because one of the basic causes of turning to drugs is an inability to fit into a world which is a ubiquitous matrix of lies.
That must sound at least a little familiar, right?
Drugs are medicine. Different people need different kinds of medicine, and even aspirin can be misused.
The Strong must prevail, the weak must be removed before they do damage to the Strong.
By semantical definition, there cannot be strong without weak, they are terms that are comparitive and relative to each other.
we cannot have rich without poor, nor strong without weak. if everyone were strong, they wouldn't be strong, they would be normal, same goes for weak.
"one of the basic causes of turning to drugs is an inability to fit into a world which is a ubiquitous matrix of lies"
Drugs are for people who can't cope with reality.
My boss was popping oxycontins daily. When I told him that they were addictive, he said impossible, he takes them every day and would know if they were.
I hate to admit it but I'm addicted to poppy seed bagels. I actually can't get through the morning without one to dunk in my coffee. I love it when the poppy seeds collect in the bottom of the cup and I can eat them with a spoon.
If cigarettes were dangerous they would of banned them years ago.
If cigarettes were dangerous, cigarette companies wouldn't have the money to buy any politician they want. Oh wait.
I'm addicted Chips Ahoa! It's not my fault and people don't like me cause I'm a this or that and I was "disadvantaged" in a society of white priveledge and spiritually walked the Trail of Tears. I want what you got, because you got it as you walked on my back to get which I claim as my birthright.
Chips ahoy will just make you fat bro.
I once met a girl who worked at Einstein Bagels and she would sneak into the ladies room with a large, commercial sized container of poppy seeds and a spoon and skoff down as many as she could to be able to make it through her shift. I don't think she works there any more.
poppy seeds contain so little morphine, that she was likely fired for stealing poppy seeds, rather than intoxication.
OK,
Do like Tennessee use "Collective Punishment" on the people who really need pain killers because some other people have too much fun on pain killers.
"But, Collective Punishment is a crime against humanity and illegal under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Geneva Conventions!"
"Too bad, Tennessee Republicans don't care. Tennessee Republicans want people to suffer. After all, Republican Politicians know more than your doctor does."
"The Tennessee Governor should be arrested for Crimes against humanity!"
Good Idea!
What this article misses is that it makes it seem like the addiction happens separately from the prescription. Instead, the drugs exert their pernicious effects when taken exactly as prescribed.
I'll just stick with my beer.
Yeah, wouldn't wanna taper that GMO corn consumption and miss out on your pesticide intake. Nice to enjoy real organic beer, but they're all en route to ABInBev sellout land.
I'll just stick with my glue
I'm sniffin' Elmer's, don't see what the big deal is all about...
Pink background on that image may drive me to take up some kind of drug addiction!
Geez looks like a slow news fill the front page with recycled crap Friday....
Really the way things are in U.S.A. culture? society? I would be better if more people were on drugs than are presenty.
We lost the war on drugs. Big Pharma won.
Are we talking about WEED here?? seriously?
No, it is impossible to become addicted to marijuana in the medical sense of the word.
"we drugged some folks"
I stopped reading at "non-medical prescription".
Fuckin control-freaks.
If the world would use HEMP and all the many products HEMP can produce, including pharmaceutical, wait... see this film:
"Hemp For Victory"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0xHCkOnn-A
Uploaded on Aug 15, 2010[P]roduced by the US Government in 1942...Interesting to learn that Dupont Chemical funded the anti- hemp / marijuana effort. This is because they had patents on new synthetic fibers and Hemp had a new machine that would put them out of business if hemp were to be used for clothes. Dupont also sold - and still does many of the chemicals to wood pulp producers... so we continue to cut down forests... when Hemp could save millions of trees, be used as an alternative bio fuel and the US could easily grow enough hemp to eliminate the need for oil... so Big oil does not want hemp legal either. Neither do the drug companies... they can't patent it. They would rather keep selling you their drugs. By keeping it illegal the lawyers, courts etc... also make a buck. You can only get high from the female flower - nobody has ever died from smoking a joint. Of course the alcohol and tobacco companies would prefer to keep their monopoly as well. So we have all the BIG Corporate players... against legalizing it. Yet if it were legalized - we would solve many issues and have a multi billion dollar hemp economy as it can be used for 1000's of products. A few other good films to watch are run from the cure & hemp conspiracy - Google it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kybQTt...
And this is the sad reality of most laws under which we slave. In almost every case, they are passed under false pretenses to stifle competition for some particular corporate/union interest. But you know what? People get the government they deserve. As long as we tolerate this crap, they'll keep shoveling more down our throats. Land of the slaves, home of the cowards.
most successful society on planet also happens to be most self medicated hmm....
Define succesful
45 million on food stamps
one in 5 kids living in poverty
declining wages
increasing illiteracy rate
america is far from a success
it is a vindictive oligarchy attempting to dominate the world financially and militarily.
It is a palace of despair. we do what we can to get by they hate us for our freedom.. you have to be on drugs to think homeland security are anything but the gestapo being groomed to be the boots for the NSA. america is sliding into darkness
Succesful at denial and deceit
They medicated the people who had a problem with that
...keeps people from revolting
I won't go to doctors as they aways try and stick you with some kind of medication. I stay away from them unless I break something or need stitching as they have the tools for that, otherwise I am a medical skeptic or maybe lucky, but the days of 'healer' are far gone. The doctors are front men for the legal cartel, we are no longer patients. I am sure there are some good ones around, but they are like cops, you never know if you have a good one or not until it may be too late.
How does one define a "drug", anyway? We are wired to crave chemicals. In fact, we are all chemical machines swimming in a universe of chemicals. Some people choose to live life on the edge and need certain chemicals to do that. Others are content living a quiet life with a smaller set of chemicals. But make no mistake, we all crave the chemicals that come from daily interactions with food, family, drugs, etc. Chemical cravings are what drive us.
There are tens of millions of people suffering from chronic pain. In the doctors' tool box they only have aspirin, tylenol, nsaids, and opioids. The DEA has demonized opioids and made legitimate pain patients criminals. In the long run it ends very badly. Wish I had a clue bit I do not and smarter people than me are stumped. If they do not decriminalize opioids soon they will incite civil war. Or, invent some miracle drug that works and has less side effects. That is the current status and future.
When smart people have zero options they will find the ultimate solution for a way to avoid societal sanctioned torture. God help the LEO personnel on that day as they will not be coming home. I am such a chronologic pain patient and the problems getting legal drugs are incredible. The trend ends much like fiat money graphics. Even our DEA agents know the truth and can not change the course.
And they think in a world with no secrets we don't know where the factories are located! Ha! Ground zero.
If you are a 5 digit taxpayer and closer to 6 digit payments than 4 digit payments you can get as much opioids as you want without DEA interference.
Cannabis is an excellent pain releiver and antidepressant. It releives nausea instead of causing it like opiod pain killers can.
If you use cannabis you can reduce the amount of opiates needed for chronic or palliative pain releif.
the thing is with genetic engineering we could be growing carrots with opiods in them.
The DEa is figting a losing battle. Its not about drugs, its about control and manipulation
If marijana were dangerous you wouldn't need the dEA, the dead bodies would be stacked like cordwood
Marijuana isn't dangerous, but the DEA is.
Shut up man. Everyone knows shits over and the uprising starts when the motherfuckers start speculating on skittles. Price of fruit flavoured candy has correlated with every major outbreak of unrest in the last two hundred years. Why do you think the ISIS slogan is "Taste the Rainbow or DIE".
How do these people function?!
I take a vicodin and I'm out for two days (sleeping) and can't shit for a week.
cracked 3 ribs once, the doc gave me vicodin. on day 5 of taking vicodin, i realized that it hd been 5 days since I had hung a rat. Where the hell was all that food I ate going. There was absolutely no intestinal distress, my appetite was magnificent, but i felt nothing in my abdomen. I quit the drug in alarm, plugged up the shitter the next day, and thanked God nothing bad had happened as a result.
a good doctor will prescribe a stool softener or laxative when prescribing opiods.
all opiods cause constipation. They relax the smooth muscles of the intestinal track.Thats why they used to use codiene for diarahha -
see
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7002706
its normal, happens to all who take opiods
Here's my story.
I had/still have episodes where a sort of temporary grey fog will cloud my vision.
It's not a comfortable thing while driving. So I told my doctor of 20 years about it. He referred me to some specialist.
Go to the specialist. He's got all these 'Bio-Ethisit" shit framed on his wall. It's 2006 and he's using 'state of the art' tablets to tell him what's going on with me.
First question: "What's your name?"
My reaction is you have all this fancy technology and it doesn't tell you who the fuck you're seeing at the moment?!
I tell him, and scold him for his tecnological shortcomings.
He does his questions and answers, does a few tests and says I need to take this pill everyday because I'm depressed.
I'm thinking: "Depressed? I traded away a $120k/year job for a $30k/year job to become a CPA, and I have absolutely no hope to make my 500 minimum audit hours to get my license...yeah, maybe I am depressed."
He says "you must take one of these everyday.
Fine, fuck...now I'm a pill taker. But I HAVE gotten older, its probably normal fate for old fucks.
I take the first prescription daily..then I run out because I'm not paying attention to it.
Day One of Missed Pill
I inform the company I'm working at that I'm feeling weird around 1 pm.
1:15 pm call wife to come get me.
seven days later...find myself world champion on some free poker tournament game...think for about an hour that I was in Vegas and my winniings were real
REAL DEPRESSION!!!
Wife comes home, bitches ass back into action...haven't had a pill since.
And i don't consider myself depressed, anything but...weird, fucked up, but I have a generally positive outlook on local life, even though our war criminal government does bring in other thoughts.
End result is....you've got some old guy who occasionnally, though temporarily, can't see, driving through your streets and flat assed refuses to take his meds. (well, i do take my BP and Cholesteral pills).
I like your post OldPhart. When I do not shave for a few days there is grey in my beard. I had a big idea of getting some sex tonight. She kept telling me that she is 34 when know she is 33. I got shut down with my brilliant idea anyway so nothing will happen. Well you know how that goes. She is not going to cooperate tonight . OK. I understand. Maybe next week?
Pretty wild documentary...

only users lose drugs -- unless i have played a trick on one of my flock! My noodly appendages know no bounds after all, and when I get bored i enjoy hiding opioids from pill heads, weed from pot heads, and rum from pirates, of course!
Whatever leads to it, true addiction is scary shit. Thank your blessed stars if you haven't had to deal with it, or if it only starts/ends with something like nicotine, or if you live in a society that doesn't initiate violence against its victims. It doesn't help when society's response is institutialized violence, when perhaps institutionalized love might be the only legitimate helpful act.
And FYI, marijuana and psychedelics are as far as I know the only drugs you can't get truly addicted to. Physical addiction is real and scary and some of the drugs involved are nicotine, alcohol, amphetamines, seratonin reuptake inhibitors (coke et al), opioids, and some pharmaceuticals that work on the same areas.
Quitting the addictive forms of SSRIs (e.g. Paxil) is quite an experience. For about a year afterwards, along with worse depression than you ever had, you have powerful electric-pulses shoot through you at random times. You also get the night terrors, where as you drift off to sleep you go into sleep paralysis and cannot move (even to open your eyes!!!), and are convinced that there is something hideous sitting next to you. Really, this is a standard withdrawal effect: night terrors and sleep paralysis. For people whose brain chemistry causes them to naturally have sleep paralysis and night terrors, the "cure" is - you guessed it - SSRIs. There is a long history in Western art of depictions of this: a sleeper with a monster sitting on top of them or next to their bed.
At this point I'm sticking with white wine in moderation.
Thanks for sharing. I am lucky enough to have purposely avoided such scenarios yet unlucky enough to have loved ones fall into the trap because they blindly believed in 'doctors' who recommended debillitating drugs in the name of temporary convenience and probably kickbacks. That which can't be sustained won't be.
Actually I think that antidepressants are worth the trade-off for some people. They will make you fat (30+ pounds is typical; the drug companies and doctors lie about that) and they triple your risk of diabetes (even apart from the weight gain), and for men there are libido problems. But if you're depressed enough, they might be the thing. I know people who are better off on them. I might take them again. The thing is, the risks aren't disclosed, and the addictive nature of some versions isn't disclosed.
I don't have much experience in that arena but I can't help but feel those are more symptom management drugs than a cure. LSD and Psilocybin research is making a legal comeback and at this point in my life with everything I've experienced I'd be more apt to recommend the psychedelic route than managing symptoms that may be quite legitimate to have in our crazy society with what I would consider to be a batshit crazy normalcy bias.
I agree that psilocybin looks extremely promising. The problem is legality. I'm not willing to take any sort of illegal drugs; I have too many responsibilities to risk the jackboot of the police state. But if you can get to Johns Hopkins, here is a clinical trial of psilocybin that is currently recruiting: https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02145091. Here is another one in Madison, WI that is currently recruiting: https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02163707.
As someone who has successfully flaunted the law in regards to psilocybin (long long ago in a faraway galaxy, well beyond the statutes of limitations of course) several times with many friends, I would highly recommend it for just about everyone not obsessed with having a manifest destiny bad time. It can be quite the life changing soul calming experience.
One doesn't even need electricity in order to grow big laughing mushrooms indoors.

and I bet none of them drink alcohol ???????!!!
well as a seller of poisons knows, everyone picks one.
at the root of drug use is: our lives are dull boredom for many..some escape into sports some work some into alternate religions some into alcohol and opiods or the weed or all the above.
If you are an elite the thrills and excitement of fucking over millions of dupes keeps them in the game, with little risk when they become sexual deviates or drug users or pediaphiles and murderers it seems..
freedom for myself starts with TRUTH. here's an example:
using sexual organs is basic biology: put a dick in an ass..is not the design..therefore those sexual deviates violate the design and should not be accepted as normal..yet millions of us see it not as biology but as a Human right. you see this is not about some moral judgement ..it is basic truth..of the biology.
I think this is a good test for anyone to see how far from truth one has fallen..the homosexual lobby would put the argument not on biology but on the level of human rights vs religious nut cakes..the results are STD that have been a curse to mankind ..wanton sexuality over the ages of all types produce and spreads disease (a truth most would not support, but it's not about your agenda, it is truth) and should not be supported by society that wants healthy people.
Truth is often a shock, it is not for those seeking chemical or societial boosts. that is why so few of us seek it.
H.P lovecraft apparently had such problems as a child, the experiences inspired his writing. Similar stories first described on ancient messopotamian tablets referred to "Ghost Wife" and describe various rituals to cure it. Methods seem to have been applied throughout history some mystical some medical.
Very very curious to see how effective the SSRIs are at curing something that seems to have afflicted humanity through the entire course of its known history and fed so much into forming many if not all super natural beleif systems. Some might describe religion itself as an incurable mental illness, take that as you may it does many people much good.
If Paxil is causing it that is a very very distubing idea particular from the perspective of people who viewed the orginal cause as spiritual in nature. The fundamentalists are going to have one more reason to take a shot at modern society. Alex Jones has already been laying it on that the SSRI's have something to do with the school shootings. Vaccines causing the autism that has led to a rise in children being treated by the stuff. Sounds like a plot from a bad horror movie, spike the kids, dope em up and summon evil spirits to cause mayhem. Make a man glad Superstition has been banished from the world.
What crap.
I have a relative by marriage who is an engineer for the state; he is the best kind of human being; he is the guy at the picnic who goes off and moves all the chairs before anyone knows it needs doing. He had terrible, terrible back pain, and innumerable back surgeries, and now he is a true addict. His wife is divorcing him and the kids approve of this, because, tragically, despite being a wonderful human, he is, due to his addiction, a terrible husband. And a terrible father: last year he blacked out while driving one of the kids to school. He is now living in a hut on his wife's mother's property. Anyway, the medical system will addict you, with all the best intentions, and then you are truly fucked. It is awful.
That is the idea isn't it ? The Medical-Pharma Industry wants to have drug-dependent customers and pays doctors to be pushers.
yep, thankfully I'm not on any meds, though I do drink a lot of coffee.
Coffee, cigarettes and work.
Work to me has become an addiction. Gets me out of the house, and away from the wife. Ah, the wife.
Achieved Pro Level with alcohol, and retired a Champion.
Been invited back to the ring many times, but alas, those days are over.
Now it's work.
And the people I work for, are perplexed, to say the least.
Here's a story.
10 years or so back, busted DWI. Sent to a "rehab course" . Pathetic group of losers in that room. Me, being the latest addition.
The "professional" running the group ( an accomplished drunk, by the way, no shit) asks me to intro myself, and why I'm here.
I bellow, My Name, and I'm here because I couldn't afford a better lawyer. She responds, that's cynical.
I retort, while pulling back the curtain, " does anyone see any Mercedes or Lexus in that lot? Pickups and junkers out there. I rest my case"
I swear, I got a standing ovation. I also got "released" from the course 3 weeks early with glowing reviews.
The zombie apocalypse will happen when we have a Venezuela style disruption in supply and distribution of opioids, antidepressants, benzos, alcohol, tobacco, etc. I saw shades of it in the aftermath of hurricane sandy. Hedge accordingly.
90% of the people in your county jail are there because they are addicted to one or more of the following: Alchohol, Crystal Meth, Cocaine, Heroin, Pills, and Weed.
Instead of offering these people treatment, Jail becomes a revolving door for them because the county makes money off of them every day of their stay.
If the inmate broke their probation agreement; by say driving with a broken tail light, they are arrested and not even offered bond. After a few weeks in jail, they maybe offered inmate work, allowing them more food.
No pain pills here. Two back surgeries, a spinal tumor (still there), one torn and another bulging disc, and just about two weeks ago I got KO'd by Lyme's...again. I woke up that morning and literally couldn't walk. Now I've got Lyme arthritis that is excruciatingly painful. I work full time, so I can't be all drugged up, and I never got any relief from prescription drugs when they were doled out to me years past.
What's my secret, go-to remedy you ask?
Kratom. It's the shit!
Even if you don't do drugs you may be surprised to know that you drink it in your water. Check out how incredibly normal it is for tested water to contain all sorts of drugs because people stupidly still flush them.
But on topic - this is old news. We lost control of our bodies a long time ago. Clearly you're not a woman.
I hadn't noticed your "handle", if that is you, you have been sorely missed.
Yes, polluted ground water indeed. Pharmacies will let people turn in their unwanted prescription drugs and they will dispose of them properly and not just flush them.
The local police here have a program where they will receive narcotics that the pharmacies will not take and dispose of them as well.
I am no "greeny" by any stretch, but I refuse to flush pharmaceuticals down the drain.
What should also be a concern is the number of people on mood-altering drugs that are being prescribed for other issues - Anti-Depressants for fibromyalgia pain, diabetic pain (Lyrica, etc.). I recently saw an ad for a non-hormonal menopause drug and looked it up to see what it was all about - it's an anti-depressant that happens to help with hot flashes. Just a few examples from a long list.
Critical thinking is the real national shortage. Nannies, not so much.
The DEA has gotten so unreasonably strict with controlled medications, providers are about scared to death to give them to patients, even when they may REALLY need them. They have thoroughly invaded the provider/patient relationship.
The provider is sort of over a barrel, because they tend to take what patients say on good faith. For example, out of 10 patients, ONE of them might be lying to get medications for abuse or to sell. Experienced providers are usually pretty good about seeing through bullshit, but certainly some of them get through the best BS detectors. When that does happen, and the patient is arrested for selling drugs, or worse - dies by overdose, Law Enforcement will be all up their ass, and a few 'Saul Goodmans' will be lining up to take their piece of the action. A provider could lose their license over such things. That's their livelihood:gone - around a decade of education at a GREAT expense:wasted.
Ironically, providers are gonna be under increasing amounts of pressure to throw pills at problems with 0bamacare taking effect. Recall, granny might need to just "take a pill", rather than having that surgery when she's 85 or so years old.....
marijuana is a better and safer drug than alcohol
Federal judge O'Connor in Fort Worth, TX just ruled that medical records concerning controlled substances have a "reduced expectation of privacy." whatever that means, so the current DEA thugs er agents can come look at your medical records whenever they want or for whatever reason they want now. HIPAA no longer exists. And don't think that this is restricted to controlled substaances. They could look at YOUR records just to see you aren't taking controlled substances. After the fiasco with this doctor, no doctor is going to refuse the DEA anything.
In this case, the DEA hit the doctor with a gag order, 1st amendment violation, looked at charts without a warrant or even subpoena, 4th amendment violation. They demanded to speak to the doctor, 5th amendment violation. And the DEA pretended to be Texas Medical Board personnel, a felony under Texas law. And no arrests of the doctor or his patients were made.
The DEA and prision industry are wanting to replace their golden ticket now that pot is being taken away from them. So they push people off the pills knowing full well that some/most of these people will turn to cheaper heroin, but they won't admit it. They claimed to be shocked, shocked that people would turn from Vicodin to heroin, something any city cop would have told them.
DEA's budget is around $2 billion and in the last few years, they have shook nearly a billion off of pharamcy chains and UPS. Fedex is the latest target, and the DEA is looking at $2+ billion in fines if it wins.
So spare me the tale of addiction, a pathetic excuse used to blame doctors and big pharma for people taking too many pills or handing them over to their friends. The addiction "epidemic" if there is one should be countered with an epidemic of rehab and treatment. Has that happened? Has there been a similar surge in drug treatment centers to counter this epidemic and if not, why not? Because there sure as hell been an uprising in DEA raids and fines.
If a person gets a DUI, is it Budeweiser's fault or 7-11s? And how come there is this prescription drug epidemic at the same time there is no issue with alcohol?
The problem with this epidemic and every other crisis is the government's solution always invloves their having more power and taking away our civil rights.
The war on drugs is really a war on civil rights.
ibogaine can cure addiction
Government is certainly dangerous in these matters. What is worse though, is the utter ignorance and depravity of the American people.
