Yanis Varoufakis Sums Up Europe In One Sentence

Tyler Durden's picture

This just about sums it all up...

"A clueless political personnel, in denial of the systemic nature of the crisis, is pursuing policies akin to carpet-bombing the economy of proud European nations in order to save them."

so umm you know he's a communist right? SYRIZA in Greece is the "coalition of the radical left" Does that sound like free markets and libertarians to you?  so ummm is zerohedge becoming a bastion of communists now (i jest)? i thought zerohedge was supposed to be about libertarians and free markets. communists do not support free markets.

so, you can love him all you want i have zero problem with your individual preference, because, yes, i am libertarian and if you want to love communists that is purely your freedom to do so.  but if you claim to support free markets and libertarianism then you cannot love the guy, and you cannot love the radical left, communists, or communism, in good faith.

there is no one "right" economic system.  look at the logical end to capitalism leads to monopoly.  communism starts off as monopoly and ends in capialism.  both get corrupt, capitalism at its end and communism at the begining.  just a circle round until human nature changes the cycle will repeats.  by the way, he has stated he is marxist.

Without the coercive force of government, monopoly has no means to exist. Mischaracterize capitalism all you like, but that can never make the impossible happen.

Live like an Apache, die like an Apache. They were the orginal libertarians.

Look what civilization did to them !

In civilization there are two types of monopoly : private and public. The private is overtly violent and makes its laws in tribal clans, the public hides behind a state and a set of rules called Laws. Its the latter that has survived by Darwin's Law! Not the tribal Apache!

Pity for the delusional libertarian. History is a bitch.

Yes it does. It makes you pro-TRUTH as you abandon Truthiness for TRUTHFULLNESS.

Declaration of the truth neither means that you support that which is true, or, reject that which is true.

For instance when I REPORT that Obama is the current USA President, even though I cannot stand the lying, son of a bitch, queer bastard, does not in any way, form, or subseance mean that I support his illegally obtained presidency. Because the truth is that I do not support it.

a financial minister and he knows the meaning
of financial terms, apparently unprecedented in the
history of the European Union? no signatory in
good grace can be or become "bankrupt"; merely
discharge the debts and losses to the represented
and have them put up their assets and asses to the
auction block. if the representatives do so they
never run into those nasty terms economists struggle
with, especially that "bankrupt"
term. ya see, that is a term that his peers have
been desperately trying to extinguish for a tier
o' the financial and, especially, monetary structure.
they have created an entire shadow structure of derivatives
to guarantee that this bankrupt term never be heard of
again, as long as you stay in the good graces of the
monetary and financial authorities who very much would
like to enjoy the fruits of your austerity; for them,
however, the world is an oyster or two and free travel,
wine, dine and nothing but the best that power and leisure
have to offer.

This is a great clip, blindman. Good catch, thanx for sharing it.

From the video clip:

<<MAX KEISER:How many more black holes do you expect to be found in the Greek financial universe before it’s all over?

YANIS VAROUFAKIS: It really depends on whether Germany is ready to let the eurozone go. Taking that bailout loan was the equivalent of collective suicide. National sovereignty is a thing of the past until and unless some new Greek government can simply say No to the bailout loans that are being on offer to the Greek social economy.>> [beginning at 7:30 in the clip]

As this clip is a “retrospective”, it would be interesting to find the date this part was originally aired.

Anyway, some good stuff. Not a bad spend of 8 minutes.

If all EU nations would behave as Germans, EU would be best place to live on Earth.

If all nations would behave as Greeks it would collapse immediately.

the main problem of Greece is that they are not competitive, because they spent future money ( live from debt ). Now they are accustomed for higher  living standard they could afford.

These addicted people simply ask for help, for benefits. But the solution is to live more

The worst thing is that Greeks are supported by much poorer EU countries like Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia, Estonia, Slovakia, Poland, Czech rep. .... peoples in these countries have much lower living standard but they are much more frugal, instead of requiring support  from others they care to work more, to be more productive... and this makes thair job more secure than in Greece.

Simply put lower Greek productivity must be reflected by lower earnings, if they do not accept it voluntarily .... Grexit is necessary...... week Drachma will do this automatically.

Grexit is probably best solution for all EU, I wish Greeks best luck.

Greeks wish to abandon austerity but stay in EU is like children's dream to build perpetum mobile. ....  please wake up, you can't have everything.

Syriza made a lot of promises but I do not believe they are really prepared for Grexit.

Stop with the lazy intellectual bullshit. Just because your radio or T.V. told you that the Greeks are a bunch of underworked, overpaid, retiring at 40 with full benefits, low rent bastards doesn't make it true. This whole Greek debt fiasco is because billions and billions of private debt was dumped on the public balance sheet. In short, big banks, particularly German banks, were made whole at the expense of the Greek populace.

Greece, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Ireland all bailed out massive private entities and the public in each of those countries must bear the burden of that debt. The socialization of bad private debt. It really is some sick sadistic shit.

I'm sure as a true capitalist, you abhor this practice.

Varoufakis is like the boy who blurted out "But the king is naked!  He is not wearing any clothes!"  Can the "adults" in the EU continue to maintain the fallacy of EU prosperity and fiscal soundness when even a child can see that it's fake?

Varoufakis is telling intolerable truths to The Powers That Be:

1. Greece refuses to make more sales of Greek assets to meet the Troika's IMF "privatization" agenda;

2. Greece is bankrupt, like the rest of the PIIGS;

3. Greece will not borrow more from the Troika to keep the pretend and extend game going;

4. Greece will never be able to pay back the "bailout" debts, so they will not be paid;

5. The European Commission, the EU politicians and the Troika are all playing a game of "Everything's fine with the EU economies and finances, go back to sleep";

6. Rome is burning while Draghi fiddles - QE is just monetary and fiscal masturbation;

6. The EC king has no clothes.

How are the Troika and EU politicians going to bluff their way through if the public realize the EU is broke?  How are the markets going to cope if Greek default triggers default conditions on a $Trillion worth of derivatives?
