Does Kyle Bass Pay His Taxes In Nickels?

Tyler Durden's picture

"Don't mess with Texas," may be a dire warning to most but perhaps after this "don't mess with Taxes" would be more appropriate. In what must have most free-thinking libertarians smirking, a man in Texas was arrested this week for “disrupting the operation and efficiency” of the local tax office - by trying to pay his taxes in $1 bills.

As RT reports,

A man in Texas has been arrested while trying to pay his tax in $1 bills for “disrupting the operation and efficiency” of the local tax office.

Timothy Norris, 27, was trying to pay his $600 property tax at a tax office in Wichita Falls, Texas, last Wednesday when he was told to leave the office by Tax Assessor Collector Tommy Smyth. Smyth accused Norris of creating a disturbance and disrupting the efficiency of the authority as the latter wanted to pay the whole sum with $1 bills.

However, the banknotes were folded very tightly so it “required tax office personnel approximately six minutes to unfold each bill,” Smyth said, the Times Record News reported.

Unfolding the bills paralyzed work in the office, so Smyth asked Norris to leave. However, the latter refused. The Wichita County Sheriff’s Office deputy who was present as the situation unfolded tried to arrest Norris but he pulled away and the deputy had to use force to detain him.

Norris was charged with criminal trespass and additionally charged with resisting arrest. Norris’ bail was announced as standing at $500 for both charges.

How long before it is mandated that IRS tax payments be made with specific notes, pressed in a certain way...?

Which leaves us with one question... does Kyle Bass pay his taxes with nickels?

Meanwhile, in the People's Republic of New Jersey (where people used to pay the 35 cent parkway tolls in pennies just to piss off the overpaid union collectors) there are peals of laughter over a $600 property tax bill.

What about a lifetime of unfair taxation?

To the people here that "own" property, what happenes if you don't pay your property tax, how long do you "own" your land after you stop paying the government lease?

The goal is our obedience.

To defy them is the offense. It has little to do with the money. If we behaved as though their currency had no value, we would devalue THEIR assets, THEIR hold over us, THEIR power.

Maybe the local government could quid pro quo and request that he applies for a visit from the fire dept or police force in writing? This would invalidate his mortgage and insurance as property rights do not exist in the absence of the state. What a bell end, if he doesn't want to pay property taxes, he can live somewhere of low value. That's the beauty of property taxes, you pay for what you get.
