How exactly do you cook a nutritious meal if all you have are spoiled ingredients? The answer depends upon your definition of nutritious and who is eating the meal……and, of course, your level of hunger and growing desperation. It is telling how much less discerning we become when the hunger pains boom in our belly and our mind becomes ever more focused on the single minded obsession of relieving our pain rather than pursuing our pleasure. Although at some point down the slippery slope relieving our pain is pursuing our pleasure.
If I carefully tend my garden, making certain the soil is thoroughly turned and pulverized, the seeds and seedlings properly planted, the area fertilized, weeded and watered and yet my garden’s yield is poor year after year after year, at what point do I begin to question the basis for my assumptions? And clearly there is an assumption of a better yield if I continue to do the same thing and expect different results.
Perhaps the soil is too acidic or alkaline, the area in shadow too long or the crop selection not suited for the soil or geographic location. The issue might be any or all of the above, or it might be something entirely different. Only a fearless and thorough examination of both the garden and gardener will reveal the systemic faults, and thereby the remedies to be employed.
It is a common belief in the West that revolution, at least when ‘successful’ (which usually means a forced change in leadership) produces reasonably good outcomes for the population at large. I contend this is wishful thinking and a deliberately seeded misnomer designed to obscure and conceal the ugly recognition that most often the new boss is quite similar in method and madness to the old boss. Change via revolution should not be conflated with better, nor should it be assumed better is the inevitable outcome.
The paradox of revolution springs from one central source, albeit a source widely dispersed and with many reverberations. Even if the revolutionaries wear white hats and are genuinely interested in fomenting ‘good’ change, with ‘good’ usually understood to mean ridding the country/region of the parasitic leaches and sociopaths along with the madmen at the top, changing the patsies throughout the governmental power structure doesn’t root out the sociopaths embedded within the country’s elite, essentially the King’s court along with several of the King’s men.
Since the King serves at the pleasure of his court, killing the King does little if anything to root out the source of real power in the country or region. Like ticks dug in deep under a dog’s fur and attached directly to the economic blood supply, the established power base must either be thoroughly dislodged, thereby risking utter economic collapse, or a deal made to accommodate their continuing presence in order to enable the newly crowned King time to organize and govern.
Regardless of whether or not damage was done to the infrastructure and overall economy during the revolution, the new leadership often opts to cut a deal with the existing elite in order to quickly consolidate power and demonstrate to the population some sort of progress towards restoration of commerce and an increased standard of living. This very act of questionably necessary compromise and accommodation means the ‘good’ imagined by the revolutionaries has already been sidetrack and subverted, though by how much remains to be seen.

These issues are further compounded since the global elite do not respect national boundaries in the same manner you and I are forced to do. Money’ is fungible, convertible and quickly moved by those who possess both large quantities and international financial contacts. This means the elite can apply significant external pressure using a variety of means to compel the revolutionaries to concede on many business regulations, tax concessions and the selling of national assets if they wish to receive external assistance from the blood sucking ticks.
Basically the economic hit-men are sent in and the revolutionaries are read the riot act. Play international ball or we will take your ball (and possibly your country) away. Facing Hobson’s Choice, either they dislodge the elite and become the next Cuba or North Korea, isolated from most of civilization and it’s economic and financial opportunities, or they join the ranks of the corrupt and in the process profit handsomely from their hard labors ‘liberating’ the downtrodden. It is easy to see how this self serving decision can be rationalized away.
This scenario doesn’t even take into consideration that in all likelihood the revolutionaries already hitched their wagon to a group of elites (internal or external, it doesn’t really matter) during the early stages of the uprising in order to gain military and financial assistance. That bill comes due immediately upon demand, thereby assuring the economic hit-men easy access to the top. In most cases the ticks are already deeply embedded within the revolution.
This brings us to an important corollary to my theorem. With a global and local population thoroughly conditioned with the slave mentality of respect, or just plain fear, for self declared (elite) authority along with severe generational Stockholm Syndrome, even before the revolution begins to take hold the revolutionaries quickly realize in order to win the population over, or simply to neutralize it, they must employ the exact same herding and bullying techniques as the present, and soon to be previous, status quo leadership uses to control the native population.
Essentially the vast majority of the existing population is already suffering to one degree or another under the present day rule. And they are doing nothing to free themselves from their oppressed condition. Other than the very small minority who will join the rebellion when hope surfaces with the insurgency, the majority will remain either neutral (meaning frozen in fear glued to their propaganda mind control devices) or will rise to defend their shepherd……or at the very least their meal ticket. The ultimate enemy of a revolution is not the oppressive government it is attempting to overthrow, but the general population it is trying to 'free'.
This virtually assures if and when the revolution ‘succeeds’ the new boss will appear quite similar to the old boss, since it is nearly impossible to resist using an extremely effective herding technique once the revolution has gained control of the civilian population using the very same techniques. While some of the citizens will welcome the leadership change, for they labor under the mistaken belief good times are just around the corner, for the most part the recently elevated revolutionary King will face a suspicious and even hostile civilian population, especially if the controlling propaganda memes are interrupted by the recent regime change.
All the more reason to ruthlessly quell dissent and consolidate power by making deals with the elite devil(s) while using strong arm tactics on the general population, something the slave mentality will generally applaud as needed and necessary to ‘restore law and order and make the streets safe’. Ultimately a population conditioned to believe only a higher authority can save them from themselves will beg for an authority, any authority, to fill the vacuum left behind when the last figure head authority was deposed.
While over the ages there have been hundreds of slightly different permutations of the above scenario endlessly played out as one after another revolution rises up only to quickly fizzle out, assuring an endless stream of sociopath patsies rotating through the halls of power, the basic blueprint rarely changes regardless of the social, economic or technological ‘progress’ achieved.

As disturbing as this concept might be for those minds who consider themselves free, we still live, work and play under a form of slave plantation organization. No - the US is not fundamentally different - though this is most certainly the controlling meme, one of outstanding exceptionalism. What makes the US unique (or at least first) is the rousing success the embedded ticks had in developing the next iteration of the slave plantation system, one where the slaves were given limited freedom of choice in exchange for greater participation and productivity. Even now this experiment is coming to a close as the profits dwindle……and with them the slave’s choices. In a sociopath’s world, nothing assures eventual collapse more than unparalleled success.
The biggest difference between the slave toiling away on a 19th century Deep South cotton plantation and the modern ‘educated’ self determining ‘free’ debt addled office, factory or service worker is the degree of mobility, living standard, and belief in our own freedom. Not to mention our rock solid belief in the ‘guarantee’ of our basic ‘human’ (slave) rights. Ever wonder who exactly is making, and supposedly fulfilling, that guarantee?

I am fairly certain the prior statements will elicit either violent emotional triggering in rebuttal (denial is often the first line of cognitive defense) or a quiet calm as the slave mind quickly overcomes the sudden rise of cognitive dissonance by differentiating itself from the rest of the herd……as it always does in order to tolerate its captivity. Ironically the latter self subterfuge is the favorite refuge of those of us who consider ourselves awake and aware.
From a practical point of view, while the modern slave enjoys many ‘benefits’ only dreamed of by the slaves of the Deep South, the ‘benefits’ enjoyed by the elite modern slave master which are derived from the exponentially higher productivity of the modern slave far exceeds any concessions the master has made to the slave. Concessions I might add that can, will, and are being rapidly rescinded.
Even though “We the People” believe our selves already free, and the level of technology salted throughout our modern lives tend to confirm our delusional thinking, this technology also serves as the robust chain that binds us to our plantation. The massive and still growing global surveillance state (not just in the USA but throughout the world both East and West) assures the controlling elite not only the means to track and eavesdrop, but to implant the latest mind controlling memes and narratives directly into our minds. Upgrades and updates are just a finger swipe away. The endless variety of news and information sources available at our fingertips virtually assures each of us will be told exactly what we wish to hear, see and think.
With the mind of the master now firmly implanted in our pocket or purse, the concept of revolution can be quickly derailed or co-opted among the great unwashed masses. While this doesn’t dissuade the truly disaffected from pushing back at the margins, it does severely limit the number of minds willing to be freed from the controlling matrix. A conditioned mind always returns to its core dependency for affirmation and confirmation of the correctness of its debased state.
It can be competently and convincingly argued, at least when dealing with a mind willing and able to see all sides of the issue, that far from being free and independent, the modern wage slave is far more indentured to his or her servitude than at any other time in history. What this means is that any revolution, in addition to all the issues outlined above, has a much steeper hill to climb than ever before if it is to eventually ‘succeed’.
Just as enlightening to recognize is one simple fact. Similar to the situation where unless all the head lice are removed at the same time, the infestation continues, so too if the sociopaths are not removed in mass globally with one fell swoop of civil uprising, the infestation continues. While the controlling sociopaths share the same self survival impulse as we mere mortals, they do not share our propensity to live and let live. Therefore they will quickly and efficiently sacrifice fellow elite sociopaths in order to sate the blood thirsty mobs, thereby assuring (or at a minimum prolonging) their continued control of the slave nation.
Because the general population lives within the fiction of the controlling meme, meaning the mostly false narrative deeply embedded within our minds of what is real and what is not, as long as the changing of the guard produced by revolution remains within the controlling mind meme narrative nothing really changes for the slave population other than in the most superficial manner. Instead of a ration of 20 units of chocolate each day I have been assured a raise to 100 units of chocolate per week. Thus even when the sociopaths lose they still win.

After hundreds, even thousands, of years of failed revolutions and endless rounds of rotating sociopath leaders, maybe it is time to question the very premise of ‘revolution’ and what exactly is happening here. Since you and I cannot force change upon the world with the snap of our individual fingers, the only path out of this paradox is to break free from the controlling meme and recognize our own participation in, and endorsement of, the slave plantation state.
This is not to say attempting to protect ourselves from the manipulated herd or the layers of well armed muscle surrounding the sociopath leaders is pointless and futile. Nor should we passively let go when the gathering tide is tugging at our feet. But to blindly assume any response from you or me is either doomed to fail (for example assuming you can’t fight city hall) or expected to succeed (such as being armed and awake in the redoubt) and all points in-between, is at this point utter insanity on our part. Doing the same thing and expecting different results is - well, you know - insane.
To assume I and millions of others can unravel thousands of years of social conditioning and manipulation in mere months or even years if only we were to do ‘something’ is the very definition of self delusion, serving only to set myself and others up for eventual failure. The source of my urgent impulse to action, which usually consists of little more than high frequency vibrating in place similar to a deer in the headlights (an extremely unhealthy state of affairs I might add) is an at times irrational fear for my ‘self’ once my eyes have glimpsed first light and begin to recognize the layers of (self) deceit and treachery which encompasses the modern slave state.
When this is combined with an often falsely perceived close proximity to the soon-to-be mad-as-hell hungry hoards when first light is involuntarily thrust upon them, this bitter cocktail goads my mind into believing something must be done right now or all is lost later. With the brain now effectively short circuited and disconnected, and the body operating solely on fear induced adrenaline, hence the high frequency vibration, we become our own personalized sub sect of the mindless masses. And right there my friend is the ultimate source of history’s rhyme, the co-opted revolutionary mind leading the forever blind.
The dirty little secret dear reader is glaringly obvious once accepted; this ‘belief’ that we must fight fire with fire, that lines must be draw - this far and no further, that time is of the essence and the end is so near, is part and parcel of the overall controlling mind meme. To paraphrase the Architect as he spoke with Neo, “You think you are the first, but you are not. There is a long line behind you and an even longer line ahead.”
There is an unbalanced equation inherent (more accurately described as deliberately implanted) in our programming which results in a tragically poor yield to our endless revolutions. It might be the soil or the crops, the light or the gardener. Then again it might not. The only apparent choices available to us are a product of the controlling meme and are patently false unless they are recognized for what they are. Only our acknowledgement and full acceptance that we willing participated in this macabre dance can invalidate the false choices and open new doors. Either we create our own reality or we exist as subjects in theirs.
To deny these basic and self evident truths is to deny us our ultimate freedom, the freedom from self. This is the source of our power and the elite know this, thus the reason they are so desperate to ramp up their subjugation and control. Their power is simply our power brilliantly co-opted, and all we need do to take it back is snap our collective fingers and they are suddenly naked and exposed. I love the smell of elite desperation in the morning.
This is not false hope, but rather obvious truth. However, unless “We the Individual” can overcome and surpass our thoroughly conditioned and manipulated ‘self’, the game will never change other than at the most local of levels and for the shortest periods of time. There is a reason we rats are always caught in the trap. When we finally ask of our ‘self’ the only pertinent question that matters - why do I continue to play the fool in the slave master’s game - then we can begin to recognize the only path out of this maze is to be found when we finally look within.

Hmm...so, we all have equal rights, but we can also grant ourselves powers beyond that of others. Mmkay.
Recently someone posted Lysander Spooner's letter to Grover Cleveland. I would suggest reading it if you haven't yet. The prose is lovely and the truth spoken is profound.
Why do all these mental constructs and fictions have more rights and powers than actual flesh-and-blood human beings? Let's come down to earth and live in reality. The truth is deceptively simple, living it ain't (apparently).

Thank you. And I too enjoy the comments. For me there is always a bellringer or two, a gem if you will, found beneath my articles. The feedback I get may not always please me, but it is what I need to hear.
CD, I've read your articles over the years and always enjoy your insights. Being a contemplative person, you mesh well with my personality. However, I do note a somber theme in all your work that sometimes can be a bit disconcerting. Awakening and contemplation does not necessarily mean a lack of lightheartedness or joy.
When I finally made the trek to escape my conditioning and domestication, I do admit I pass through a plethora or emotions. Anger ( fuck the world for duping me.... You assholes are gonna pay damn it) Sadness ( oh my God, I wasted my life living in a fantasy world.... Ok now back to anger) Fear ( Holy Shit, all my investments are in worthless paper... Ok once again we return to anger) Guilt ( if I were smarter I would have seen this sooner and acted more swiftly.... Ok, back to anger mixed with a little despair).
Finally, after all this I believe I am more happy than I ever was in my entire life. I savor things rather taking everything for granted. I look to myself more instead of relying on authority. It is as if I had been blind all my life and now been given the gift of sight. For me, there is a joyousness, and unburdening of the soul when when no longer live in pretense, even though it means the future is questionable and tenuous.
I see a sadness in you that I haven't yet understood. A heavy heart burdened and resigned. Walled off for safety. Perhaps just a persona.

No offense taken. And I am happier now than I have ever been.
But the inner reaches of COG are a bit guarded and I use ZH and TIF to open up a bit and expose a side of me rarely expressed other than to my closest confidant.......which in my case consists solely of Mrs. Cog.
I endured a brutal brutal childhood, one no child should ever experience let alone witness. When I finally escaped I spent the next 17 years self destructing, then the next 15 years trying to discover how to live in this word without all my hangups, dark corners, scapegoats etc etc etc.
It was only when I began to really look within around 12 years ago and explore those things which I had spent a lifetime running from have I begun to find some inner peace. Mrs. Cog has been the cherry on top of my ice cream. I had resigned myself to being alone the rest of my life since it is so rare to find someone willing to not only support your own inner explorations, but is also willing to explore their own on a continuing basis.
Mrs. Cog and I are from very different worlds, which I think helps us expand our horizons. She often explains to me the thinking of those who still live in the world she has abandoned and I do the same to her. It's pretty neat actually.
I do not wish to fear monger when I write. But neither do I wish to come across as anything other than dead serious when discussing the deepest darkest reaches of our minds and souls. One thing I promised myself when I began to write was to always attempt to take the high road, particularly when responding to comments. I know all too well how to occupy the gutter. I wanted to see if the world was any better when the high road is taken. I am happy to report it exceeds my expectations.

- Exactly, we don´t need a JAR(Just Another Revolution) we need to fundamentaly rethink our individual "Social Contract" with the rest of humanity. All the past revoltions have done so far was to change the color/form/fitting of the chains but never have put the existance of the chains them selves into question. All societies so far have been based on coercion as a "necessary evil", even the American Revolution though started out pretty decently ended up in a JAE(Just Another Empire). We need a MOAR(Mother of All Revolutions), start basically from scratch, in terms of relationship between individuals and others, and not just replace the name tags on the buildings.
I posit that it starts with the relationship with oneself. Seeing and knowing the programming, both cultural and individual, for the lies they are and the depths that they permeate consciousness ( most important), is the missing ingredient for meaningful change. This is the next big step in the evolution of the species, if we survive.
Yes you are correct, it does start with the SELF, no matter how much freedom you are being offered if you internaly see your self a Slave you will be a Slave no matter what. As long as people believe that Gods/Kings/Presidents etc. are inherently wiser more powerfull and have a "right to rule" solely based on their Title then nothing will change.
Perhaps the "Elite" are slaves as well, and just give the illusion of being "owners" of the plantation.
At times, I would not be surprised in the slightest to find that we are someone's ant farm, or a character in a simulation like the Sims.
In fact, it would explain a lot.
The levels of the pyramid continue to narrow all the way to the top. In a prior piece I discuss how the 0.1% rule the 1% who rule the 20% who rule the rest....with various sub and sub-subdivisions up and down the class system.
And I always enjoy exploring the concept of 'our' reality not being what we think it is, but rather a part of someone (something) else's.
And rightly, almost inevitably, so. Do you really think that the majority of people can rule or govern themselves. Take off the dark glasses and look about you. The evidence is everywhere.

Che Guevara often boasted that he shot many people in the back of the neck whilst going down the prison stairs to the interrogation rooms.
I ask the parents of children wearing Che's likeness if it's their pride in his accomplishments, that of murdering thousands of people without trial, is why they have their children advertising his memory.
It´s funny how when you murder 1 to 100 people you end up in prison for life or on death row but when you murder 1000s or millions you end up on T-Shirts

That is one of my all time favourite quotes! In my view, when one DOES question the very premise of ‘revolution’ the best answer is that "revolution is re-evolution." Revolution is NOT merely any violent change, but rather a creative synthesis. Previously divergent radiants of evolution re-converge, to become a new basis for future adaptive radiants to branch out from after that. (The most significant example of that was the development of photosynthesis, and then, the eukaryotic cell.)
“We the Individual” can be expressed as the facts that human "individuals" are ancient ecologies. There are about 100 trillion cells, surviving through many generations. Each cell itself is another even more ancient ecology of organelles. The total genome of all the other organisms that live within and upon the individual is bigger than the genome of that individual's DNA itself. Human civilizations are even bigger ecologies, built with those previously existing components.
Human consciousness is an almost infinitesimal slice of the subconsciousness and supraconsciousness, of the ecological relationships that individuals were born embedded within. The paradoxical ways that our social pyramid systems work is that they require that the vast majority of people be kept ignorant and afraid, so that they can be controlled and exploited. Every effort is made by the ruling classes to try to keep those that they rule over unable to understand the basic principles of philosophy, or genuine spirituality. It was not an accident that most people are taught to believe in things which are almost the total diametrical opposite to the way things actually are.
There tends to be nothing wrong with the ideals of a democratic republic, operating through the rule of law. The problem is that the ruling classes have been able to brainwash almost everyone else to believe in bullshit which is backwards. Evolution naturally selects for dynamic equilibria to manifest. Violent political revolutions are dramatic changes in state of the previous systems of death controls. If those revolutions are to become more successful, then they should be based on intellectual scientific revolutions. "The Paradox Inherent in Any Slave Nation Revolution" is that there must necessarily be some systems of death controls, and revolutions are changes in the dynamic equilibria of those systems, which may reach the level of changes of state.
"The paradox of revolution springs from one central source," which is that the death controls are the most important and central controls, after one has life. Therefore, any genuine revolution, which becomes more than a temporary rebellion, must develop some new system of death controls, which back up some new system of debt controls, manifesting through the combined money/murder systems. Political revolutions tend not to become successful unless some significant groups of those who were supposed to repress those revolutions decides to join that revolution instead. (There are far more examples of temporary rebellions that were crushed, than there were successful political revolutions.)
My view is that militarism is the supreme ideology, because the most important thing that people do is kill each other. I focus my attention upon any possible ways to develop overall better murder systems, which then could back up better money systems, (since money is measurement backed by murder.) Of course, since the history of Neolithic Civilizations have been that the most successful death controls were done through the maximum possible deceits, which then was the foundation for the financial system to become based on the maximum possible frauds, it is practically impossible at the present time to imagine how either the ruling classes, or those that they rule over, would ever be able to develop greater use of information enabling higher consciousness about the human death controls, or murder systems, whose ideology is militarism.
But nevertheless, I continue to maintain the notions that real revolutions are changes in the death controls, which then change the social rates of robbery, within their overall environmental circumstances. I have been promoting the notions that future political revolutions should face the facts that governments are NECESSARILY the biggest form or organized crime, controlled by the best organized gangs of criminals. I believe that it is imperative that a quantum leap in political science takes place, which then applies to the combined money/murder systems.
The essential political problems NOW are that the death controls are operated through the maximum possible deceits, which back up financial controls based on the maximum possible frauds. Within that context of organized crime dominating everything, there is almost nothing but controlled opposition to oppose them. Paradoxically, most people who talk about "freedom" or "liberty" never bother to reconcile those concepts with the principle of the conservation of energy, which is the foundation of all other scientific understanding of everything. I believe that reconciliation is possible to do, but that requires profound intellectual scientific revolutions, which amount to a creative synthesis of ancient mysticism with post-modernizing science.
The BIG PROBLEM is that we now have electronic monkey money frauds, backed by the force of apes with atomic bombs. The level of revolutions which would be necessary to survive those developments goes off the scale of anything in previously known human history. As I said, the only good comparison which can be made was the development of photosynthesis, which drove the biggest re-evolutions in the history of evolution that we are currently aware of!
If one is serious about Neolithic Civilizations going through revolutions to become Translithic Civilizations, then the necessary crucial core to those processes are changes to the death controls. Militarism continues to be the supreme ideology, because it deserves to be. Weapons technology continues to be a practical priority. However, the FACT that there are weapons of mass destruction forces revolutions in militarism, to change the ways that the death controls are done, which requires profound paradigm shifts in the ways that we think about "death controls," which is the essential aspect of the real, radical revolutions which we need, IF we are going to survive the development of those weapons of mass destruction.

The world is almost totally dominated by professional liars and immaculate hypocrites, BOTH in the dominant systems of organized crime, AND their controlled opposition groups.
To be realistic about revolution, and especially so, the more radical that revolution must be, is to focus on the crucial issue of the death controls. The development of militarism was NOT a mistake, and that can NOT be corrected by having no more ideology regarding the human murder systems. Rather, systems of artificial selection were driven to develop by natural selection. Human cultures ended up focusing upon their greatest concerns, which were the ways that human life manifested chronic political problems, which required the development of death controls, which were historically operated most successfully through the maximum possible deceits about themselves, which kind of human ecology then became the foundation upon which was built a political economy based on the maximum possible financial frauds, which frauds were enforced by governments, while being defended and promoted by the biggest bullies' bullshit social stories, which are currently the banksters' social stories.
Most of the reactionary revolutionaries denounce the sociopathic psychopaths, WITHOUT admitting that there still must necessarily be some human death controls central to all other social controls. The typical pattern is for the reactionary revolutionaries to NOT propose better death controls, but rather to promote the impossible ideals that there ought not be any death controls at all, or at least none that human beings are conscious about operating. However, I am interested in real, radical revolution, and therefore, I promote the ideas that we should operate better death controls, which make greater use of information, which enables higher consciousness with respect to accomplishing those necessary purposes demanded by the facts of life, that there ARE, and MUST BE, death controls.
I rather enjoy the sublime paradoxes that my notions regarding real, radical revolutions, are the most consistent with what actually already exists and works, but which the established systems of professional liars and immaculate hypocrites, in BOTH the ruling classes AND those that they rule over, are unable and unwilling to perceive as ALREADY being the case. I promote cognitive dissonance on steroids, (in the metaphorical sense that steroids are the equivalent of nuclear weapons in the areas of competitive sports.) At the present time, human ecology operates through groups of people who have embodied the trophic layers in other ecologies. Thus, we had the people who acted like the predatory parasites, and the people who acted like the productive prey. Most of the ineffective bullshit about "revolution" continues to be promoted by the people who are the productive prey, that has too little sympathy or understanding for how and why the people who are the predatory parasites operated.
OF COURSE, human beings are basically a "slave society" because human beings can not create energy out of nothing, nor send energy to nothing. We can only act as entropic pumps of energy flows from our environment and back. That tends to be deliberately misunderstood by the people who fill the niches of the productive prey, who tend to blame the predatory parasite people for ALL the problems. However, there are chronic political problems inherent in the nature of human life, which will always continue to exist as long as human beings survive, which means that, as long as there is that life, then there must be the death controls of that life. I don't hear anyone espousing armed revolution in the USA. I hear some espousing readiness, in case the central government breaks down, which would be an emergency. It seems to me that an intelligent man would attempt to be somewhat prepared for an emergency anyway; a big storm or a prolonged electrical outage is also an emergency.
I assure you TGR, I wouldn't hesitate to espouse violent, armed revolution in the USA if it came to that. But among the many ways to repair or reconstitute the U.S. and retake what the oligarchs have stolen and continue to steal from us, armed revolution is always the most painful for the helpless and vulnerable, and always the most costly to the innocent in terms of human suffering and life. I'll risk my life for my country's freedom, but I am in no moral position to impose certain misery and potential death on others 'for their own good (or freedom)' as a consequence of my actions. The second I make that choice for them, I have become the psychopath I'm trying to eliminate. As much as we bitch about the country, it's not THAT bad yet.
If someone decided today that they were going to make that choice for everyone else in the U.S. and start a violent, armed revolution, I would feel morally compelled to engage in violent, armed resistance against them.
I contend we are somewhere in the vast area between the extremes of "Let's vote and use the laws to fix the country" (useless) and "Let's just kill all the psychopaths and oligarchs and start over - anything is better than this" (too costly for everyone 'helped'). It's not that simple and binary, though. The other much more immediate possibility (among many) is the one you stated. I can see a lot of reasons for the government to collapse for reasons that have nothing to do with anyone's desire for revolution or change. Sad to say, we could be about to witness the results of that happening in Greece and Ukraine. There's about a half-dozen other countries right behind them. The U.S. isn't in great shape itself - it's just that we're not the most broken one in the scrapheap.
I doubt the challenge for us in our lifetimes will ever be whether or when to start a revolution. I think the challenge will be how to react when psychopaths seek to exploit people and consolidate power a little bit at a time as the current governments and society slowly crumble around us. It's happening right now and we're not reacting - most people don't understand the nature of evil or see psychopaths as the clear enemy.

Personally, I believe that, in most USA elections, fewer than half the citizens vote, and in most "non-Presidential-contest" elections, only about one-quarter of the citizens vote, AND that this is the "proximate" reason that the USA Supreme Court consists of 6 Roman Catholics and 3 Judaists, with not one Protestant, Buddhist, Muslim, American Indian, Agnostic, Atheist, Hindu, etc., represented judicially.
I also believe that humans are wired to be tribal, and that the people who actually vote clearly identify themselves with a tribe, and vote to support other members of that tribe. For the rest of the people, whose tribe does not define itself as being "different" or "apart", there seems to be less inclination to vote, and less voting. (Also, less inclination to run for elected office, and why not, because who's going to vote for them, if they don't have a tribe to vote for them.)
I imagine such systems actually exist in many other countries also.
I don't know what could better this system, but I always vote, and always try to pick out a candidate or two to support with time, and a little money if I can afford it.
My hope is that, with science forging ahead at leaps and bounds, some of the people at the top will figure out that their grandchildren would be better off in a world of smarter (and fewer) and more empathic people, and genetic technology will be improved so that our grandchildren are in fact smarter and more empathic. Not the American Revolution. Though not as clear cut and clean, as made out to be by the indoctrination centers, we Americans experienced about 123 years of freedom, form 1890 to 1913 (US sold to the banksters).

Thomas Jefferson felt that government was a necessary evil and that the smallest possible government was the best. Along with private banks sould never produce currency or coin of the land, and people owing land such as farmers, bankers, with a material steak in the economy should vote. He was right.
From my limited knowledge of history, it seems to me that the only "sucessful" revolutions were just inter-elite squabbles with the American Revolution being one of them. All of the revolutions in the 18th and 19th centuries were lead by a masonic illuminust elite of the enlightenment. The elite of the colonies did not want to share the profits from the empires they created with their cousins back home. The "peoples" revolutions of the 20th century were led by an educated elite. We are now in the counter-enlightenment to bring back feudalism with a coporate technological paint job. I can't think of a sucessfull revolution by slaves? The limited slave victories of the labor movement of the 20th century US were fleeting and were crushed within 50 years. That war was lost in the 80's when the elite convinced the house slaves (middle class) that they were part of the elite and they ruthlessly crushed their slave bretheren outside the house. Those dumbasses still believe that they are part of the elite. The house slaves became "investors". They didn't understand how that was an even more efficient way to harvest their productivity. Everything they thought they had was stolen from them in the 2000's. They just haven't noticed yet. When they try and cash in on their promised retirement, they will realize they have nothing but not understand when they were robbed,how and by whom. There will be nothing they can do about it. If we are trapped in any belief, it is in the belief in the need for / usefulness of a “government.” Those trapped in this belief are also trapped believing that some large, organized force is required to oppose the current one. Until very recently, this was arguably true. Seizing the reins of power required fielding a force of armed men, physically grasping and holding media outlets and government buildings. This 3GW notion of power and warfare peaked with WW2.
Frankly, the outlook for the sociopathic oligarchs has been downhill since then. Vietnam was a watershed event, forcing the mighty US military to rethink its notion of “warfighting”, giving rise to “Special Forces” whose mission was in large part to “win the hearts and minds of the people”. This approach failed spectacularly in Afghanistan and Iraq. As I have stated often enough here at ZH, the mighty US military, in a decade, with tens of thousands of armed men and $Trillions of dollars, was unable to occupy and subdue a province the size of Texas. Abject failure.
The problem for TPTB is there is no top-down organized way to fight a 4GW conflict. You can drone “leaders” but new ones will always rise up to take their places. You can use the CIA to buy off the opposition’s leadership, but not so much when you have run out of money and / or your currency has collapsed. The top-down power structure is stuck in their own world view: their own powerful omnipotence, their place in history. It is impossible for them to believe they might fail. This much is plainly evident from their handling of virtually everything, their ever-ratcheting attempts to manipulate economies and events.
But when individuals hate you so much they are willing to die resisting you, you are a failed state. Period. Scale the failure in Iraq and Afghanistan to CONUS and it is easy to see we have already won. The state is spending itself (already has spent itself) into oblivion. And as for the notion of the power of the surveillance state and the police state, success of those would require the flow of information to the public to be returned to its former, state-controlled self. A single disaffected individual decides he’s dead already, shoots and kills two NYPD officers in their car, and the police union representing 50,000 NYPD cops calls a work stoppage. SOME POLICE STATE. This is the leverage available to 4GW warriors. It is impossible for any state to resist.
This is not to mention the economic impact of several recent high-profile police encounters. The individual in Pennsylvania who recently shot two cops, killing one, sparked a multi $Million dollar manhunt spanning weeks of overtime and hundreds of “officers”. The NYPD work stoppage probably cost NYC hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not more, in lost “revenue” from citations and arrests.
I reflected on the “Hunger Games” series, and I believe it is a Psyop designed to keep the people believing in the need for great, public, all-or-nothing resistance. It would be physically impossible nowadays to keep an entire nation subdued in this manner. That is to say, impossible as long as we are armed and have access to independent information sources. The only way we can be controlled en masse is through fear and a sense of hopelessness. And that is what television is for.
It has been adequately documented in innumerable places that the current political system, and the courts that go along with it, are completely co-opted and useless. There is no political solution to our current dilemma. But there will be no need to field an army, complete with “leaders”, against the current power structure. In fact, it would be very counterproductive to do so. Every individual should continue resisting individually in as many ways as possible. “They” are broke, so any way you can make them spend money should be given top priority. War is economic, and “they” are visibly losing. Printing money to stay alive is the final phase of a failed state.
Keep resisting. At some point, stop believing that you as an individual must survive no matter what. On a long enough time line, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

Having watched one of Hans Herman Hoppes' seminars, I saw that he was incapable of providing a way to deal with the issue of abortion, or put another way, the eliminaiton of an unborn child. He doesn't believe in absolute right or wrong which position is a very slippery slope into tyranny.

I think nmewn is correct in the sense freedom of mind is the most important concept. It is foundational and without this no true freedom can be achieved. A slave on a plantation is judged not free strictly by appearances. He is obviously fettered, shackled and dependent on his master for life. However, this individual may be free of mind. This we cannot know but assume he is entirely dominated body, soul and mind.
There is no guarantee a mind will be owned when the body is enslaved. I put to you an individual in an office building working at his daily job could be less free than the plantation slave simply because his mind is enslaved while his body is not. This is one part of ourselves where we have power as long as we have courage not to relinquish it.
Obviously, it is best to have freedom in mind body and spirit. It is then and only then, when we can experience our humanity fully. I look to those in history who have paid the price for this in blood and pray if this ever would befall on me I will have the courage to follow in their footsteps.

The only "guarantee" resides in the physical, among all of us (as in the body can be easily enslaved) only when they break your mind is anyone genuinely enslaved and I'm not sure that can even happen. The will to resist is always there, just underneath the surface, waiting for an opportunity to act. As the days go by the insult to ones physical freedom grows. To the physically bound it becomes all you think about, everyday you think of what was stolen by a "guarantee" or a promise now compromised.
Simply stated, it is the nature of man to be free. It is the nature of governments & "authorities" to whittle away at those freedoms. Sometimes with a guarantee or the promise of this or that to help the bitter tonic go down easier for the intended.
