Turkey Deputy PM Warns "The Polarization Of The Masses Frightens Me"
In the face of Turkish President Recep Erdogan's increasingly harsh rhetoric towards The West and slamming the central banks for its "independence" warning that it will "be held accountable" if the decision on interest rates is wrong - which has sent the Lira to record lows - Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc appears to have come out today to try and calm the situation. Fearing that "Turkey could cease to be a governable country," Arinc called for a softening of political language, as he warns "the polarization of the masses, frightens me."

Erdogan's statements on the central bank continue to slam the Lira...
*TURKEY'S ERDOGAN: CENTRAL BANK'S DECISION ON RATES IS WRONG
*ERDOGAN: CENTRAL BANK TO BE `HELD ACCOUNTABLE' FOR DECISIONS
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says the central bank “will be held accountable” if it can’t manage foreign-exchange policy, state-run Anadolu news agency reports.
“The strengthening or weakening of dollar is not something for me to evaluate. If the central bank can’t manage this, then it will be held accountable for it,” Anadolu cites Erdogan as saying.
Erdogan criticizes bank for keeping interest rates too high, saying that “it’s not in Turkey’s interest to remain silent” to results of bank’s actions.
And so Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc calls for a softening of political language... or else... (as Bloomberg reports)
Hatred of Turkey’s ruling party could make Turkey ungovernable, Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc says in interview on CNN-Turk television.
"We get 50% of the vote. But the other 50% is turning to hate speech. We used to go out into the streets and our supporters loved us. Opponents on the other side respected us. Now I sense looks of hatred. There’s a hardening, a dividing into camps. This won’t prevenut us from getting 50%. But it could make Turkey cease to be a governable country"
"The polarization of the masses frightens me"
Says decision on changing Turkey to a presidential from a parliamentary system should be sent to a public referendum even if ruling AK Party has the votes in parliament to enact it without a referendum.
Turkish Spring anyone?

One can't help but wonder just how different the decisions of a central bank would be if there was actual accountability for their decisions...

"The polarization of the masses worries me - when I am in in .01%." -- fixed it!
What is "accountability"?
It is we who shall inherit the earth. Justic for all. The Day of Judgement draws nearer.
The government will "be held accountable"
Be afraid politicians. Be very afraid....
I'm afraid too. But of Mrs K. Not the Turks
Central Banks want to be unaccountable so politicians an be aunnaccountble too. If central banks had rules and were required to be transparent then the government couldn't keep passing the 'economic' buck to the central banks to solve...politicians would actually be forced to make some real hard decisions for once. The dominoes are lining up.
Anyone married over 20 years knows where true fear resides.
"What is "accountability"?"
Just think of it the way Orwell would, you know, the way we do here in USA.
When you make a mistake or tell a lie, you suffer the consequences. Ref Lyin Brian.
i think my sunglasses are polarized (or something) is Turkey going to side with ISIS or what?
Turkey fascilitates ISIS. They are doing the work and taking the hits that would otherwise fall upon his Turkish armed forces.
I'm making over $7k a month working part time. I kept hearing other people tell me how much money they can make online so I decided to look into it. Well, it was all true and has totally changed my life. This is what I do... www.globe-report.com
Modest proposal -- stop pretending that the central bank is anything other than a bunch of bankers becoming ever wealthier by leaching off of your population, and perhaps there would be less "polarization."
Turkish spring? Sounds exactly like America today...

kurdistan has a nice ring to it
It's not hard to get 50%+ of the vote when you control precincts where 110% of the registered voters consistently turn out to vote for your preferred candidate.
What about the Gulf of Oman guys playing games? You have to traverse rhe Red Sea to in order to deliver your "Black Gold " via the Mediterranean to Europe.
This whole (global)scenario is so reminiscent of the conflicts that led to WWI.
I'd pay good money for a 'cage match' between "Condi Rice vs Susan Rice".
The take on that PPV would retire a lotta debt!
Reminiscent of something like a setup for a order-from-chaos-then-extend-and-pretend kind of scenario to salvage a (banker) empire that is on a downward trajectory?
"Random" Google find:
In 1914 Britain was a country where 4% of the population accounted for nearly 90% of the entire capital wealth, and where by contrast 30% experienced poverty. There were serious tensions within society. Trade Unions were demanding a redistribution of wealth. Ireland was demanding Home Rule; and Suffragettes were demanding justice. In the first six month of 1914 almost 5 million days were lost through strikes, and the prospect of civil-war in Ireland was only averted by the outbreak of WWI.
The war led to an unprecedented degree of government control, which until than had been remarkably unobtrusive. The Defence of the Realm Act equipped the government with unlimited powers. The government closed the Stock Exchange, controlled the means of production, imposed drinking hours, told the people what to think, and conscripted men into the army. With Lloyd George as prime minister the production of munitions became immense. On one day in September 1918 the British army fired off 943,000 shells.
The human cost is still difficult to comprehend; 30 % of all men aged 20 to 24 in 1914 were killed. 20% of the peerage who served was killed (a death toll greater than at any time since the Wars of the Roses). Ten years later 2.5 million men were receiving a disability pension (40% of those who served).
Initially the end of the war bought a speculative boom fuelled by a belief that the pre-war demands for British goods would return. The economic collapse began in 1920 with a contraction of the 'old staples' creating almost 2 million unemployed by June 1921. Millions of days were lost in strikes. To restore confidence Britain attempted to rejoin the Gold Standard which further eroded Britain's competiveness, and led to the General Strike of 1926.
Uh oh time for the shit to hit the fan no abreviation needed on this one. Maybe they WILL actually hold YELLEN and co acct for this

Yeah the central banks are the reason and not the constant and growing rhetoric by Erodgan the past year about how anyone (including his own ATK party) that does not support him and is an enemy of Turkey. Let's not forget his reaction to any kind of gathered protests either in Istanbul or Ankara recently including riot police attacking them with rubber bullets, tear gas, and mounted police units or the reports of mobs of gangs stabbing and beating protestors.
His efforts to ultimately turn Turkey into a presidental system instead of a parliamentary democracy where the president has much broader powers including vetoing legislation are what has provoked the real backlash in Turkey. Not only in the West have his numbers taken a real hit. His numbers in much of the Arab world in terms of popularity and Turkey's have taken a hit too.
Mr.Erdogan, you can only play both ends against the middle for so long before it collapses in on you.
gas the currencies money war now
The shadow of crisis has passed? Who's he kidding? Seems like there are more crises occurring simultaneously than ever before.
The shadow of the crisis has passed and now the crisis is here!
Hey Mr. Arinc,
You will be even more afraid the day you wake up to find Erdogan bugged out on you during the night.
Plan accordingly.
Think any meetings are happening among certain NATO members as they watch events in Turkey and Greece?
Or the meetings between Turkey, Greece and Russia
Turkey has mostly muslems of some sect. The muslem religion repeatedly produces violently insaane components of its followers that are filled with hate. That is what depuity prime minister Arnic is trying to say.
“Mostly?”
Turkey claims secular status with no official state religion; the Turkish Constitution provides for freedom of religion and conscience. For decades, the wearing of the hijab was banned in schools and government buildings because it is a symbol of political Islam. However, the ban was lifted from universities in 2011, from government buildings in 2013, and from schools in 2014.
Freedom of religion is fait accompli when 99.8% of the population is Muslim.
In 1453 Turks ended the Muslim's 800 years war with the Greek Empire… Hagia Sophia, the most beautiful church in Christendom became a supremacist mosque.
Every May 29th Turks celebrate the catastrophic Conquest Of Constantinople and the Muslim Lust for Slaughter, Enslavement and Plunder.
There was a sister church to Hagia Sophia built by the Emperor Justinian, nearly bankrupting the Roman Empire in the process of building both churches. The Basilica of St. John in Ephesus stood as a Christian church for 700 years before Turkey converted it to a mosque. Forty years later, it was destroyed in an earthquake. Hagia Sophia, itself, was a Christian church for about 1,000 years before being converted into a mosque. About 400 years later, in 1894, a magnitude 7 earthquake killed almost 1,400 people and nearly brought down the building. In 1935 (39 years after the big quake), Hagia Sophia was wisely converted from a mosque to a museum.
Sibel Edmonds got it right.
