The NYPD Gives Advice How You Too Can Protect Yourself From The Wreckovery
Despite the fact that the "shadow of crisis has passed" and Friday's jobs data 'proves' the recovery is on track, NYPD has some advice for those who have benefited from the 'wreckovery'...
Thefts of tires/rims are on the rise. Consider purchasing locking lug nuts which may help deter these crimes #112pct pic.twitter.com/CBqBiDiEwi

If you like your rims you can keep your rims?
pods
All rims must have a maternity policy, even -- and especially -- 50's buicks
NYPD gives advice on how to protect yourself....
MOVE!
Got my lug nutz right here, bitchez!

RE: HUNGER GAMES WHEEL THEFTS
-----------------------
This is a joint communication of the NYPD Special 0.1% Protection Task Force & The Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
Please use additional measures (in addition to manufacturers' standard practices) to secure the wheels on your vehicle, in order to deter thefts of said wheels by the 99.3%, who have been increasingly stealing vehicle wheels, especially on expensive imported vehicles, in order to help feed their families.
Thank you.

NYPD promoting rim jobs?
Steal just the rims?
Hell, it's easier to steal the entire car!
Those of you with 'keyless entry' are in for a surprise.
Behold: the newest trend:
http://market-ticker.org/akcs-www?post=229819
I like to say "Locks are there to keep the honest people honest and nothing more."
Having traveled the wild side as a young man I know locks are just a small inconvenience to those who want to steal your stuff.
KD is that you?
You mean putting a computer chip in everything doesn't make it better?
Who Knew?
Noticed uptick on Craigslist
Not that guy!
make sure your rifle scope is zeroed for the proper range......
Is that what a rim job is?
I just experienced my first rim job here in Cleveland. Thanks to the wonderful conditions of our roads, I hit a pot whole that took our two of my tired and my rims. AWD means four new tires and two new rims for $980 each rim.
You are not alone Doc. In upstate New York, the potholes are so large they have names...and they have remained unpatched for 3 years now. The tire place told me they've seen a decent increase in business. Meanwhile the newspapers are running headlines about record overtime pay for state workers and police/firemen. I think Krugman advised the state to just loot everything while letting infrastructure rot (his broken window policy). Yay recovery.
It was a financial institution and there was a debate about the title of the rims...
You didn't steal those rims...
The wheels are coming off with or without locking lug nuts...
Exactly, the guys that know their shit have a bag full of keys, or just pound a slightly oversized socket over the keyed lug and zip it off faster than a pit crew. The only thing a keyed lug is good for is pissing off your mechanic when he really needs it and can't find it.

When running from a bear, you don't need to be the fastest....just faster than the slowest person.
It's cheaper to not have less stuff worth stealing.
There was a spate of smash-and-grab thefts from autos in my neighborhood a few years ago. I had to replace triangular wing windows 2 springs in a row. They never got anything worth taking so it was just a wasted expense. I took to leaving my car unlocked. Now, about once a spring, I come out and the stuff in the glove box is dumped on the floorboards and a couple bucks worth of quarters is gone. No muss, no fuss. And I don't worry about my car actually getting stolen because my wife and I both drive a stick.
You should find the perps, and hire them for neighborhood security. Can't do much worse than the cops.

Once upon a time, My locking lugnut adapter stripped.
Turns out, Sears & Harbor freight sell a set of "hammer-on" locking nut removers.
Bought it, took it home, stripped lockers were off in about 5 minutes each.
Locking lugnuts are less than worthless, because when they gunk up, strip, or rust, you - the honest owner of the wheels & spare - will not be able to change that tire 7 miles outside of crapstone in 40 degree midnight drizzle.
They don't stop any theives, but they WILL stop you.
A-fucking-men.
Bollixed - Well said. The Fed is printing wrenches and the Obama Admin is handing them out.
My son lost the spare off the back of his Honda CRV a couple of weeks ago. Any recommendations on locking wheel nuts?
I favor 12 guage booby traps but he is too civilized.
One, don't own a honda.
That's just askin for your shit to get jacked.
Hondas are fine, as long as they're 15+ years old. Doesn't seem to be much demand even though they still drive fine.
Well, its a 1998 CRV with 265,000 miles on it. Still going strong, just no spare.
The top two most stolen models are the Accord, and Civic.
Buy a used car with a manual transmission. Nobody knows how to drive (or steal) a manual anymore.
Most these people probably never been to the west coast / SoCal.
Not uncommon to see a stolen stripped out car parked behind some alley way.
... don't own a honda
That's too dramatic. Just keep the fucking spare (preferably a small size one) INSIDE your fucking trunk, and ignore the rack on the back door.
I just went to one of the normal auto stores and said "I need locking lug nuts, 1/2" 20 pitch thread." My spare has not been stolen, and it is on the back of my Jeep. It's a full sized spare with a BFG AT, so it's probably a bit more inviting than a donut spare.
Thanks for the tip, but reading above makes it obvious they are only small inconveniences for the thieves. Maybe a Mini-spare in the back and a nice new wheel and tire welded on the mount on the back. I guess the whole back hatch would be gone next.
I torque the shit out of them, beyond what most tools that they can actually get to the lug nuts with could apply by getting a bite on the outside of the lug nut. Part of that is because the shape of the rim means that you're not going to have an easy time getting a big monkey wrench in there. Nothing is thief proof, but if there is an easier, faster target, that is what they'll probably go for. They could come and take the swing arm off, but most thieves probably do not carry wrenches big enough around to do that, and it would be rather heavy and akward to carry away..
A 17mm socket can be hammered on to most locking lug nuts, then you just smack it with a hammer. I have removed quite a few. Never to boost any though, people lose their keys all the time.
Locks and splines... make it hard for thieves...

If you are lucky enough and have aluminum rims that have been on long enough, they stick to the hub via oxidation and then you need a hammer to get them off. Outside of that they make master lug key sets that most criminals would have if they are into stealing tires. Most aluminum rims are worth $50 as cores and about the same in scrap. A shotgun would be the best deterrent.
A shotgun would be the best deterrent.
WE do not need deterrents. We need PREVENTION.
Since Courthouses are where all of the Criminals congregate (including the Lawyers lest I repeat myself) you all just may want to throw a container of Bleach and Ammonia into an Air Conditioning Air Reuptake vent.
You can do some preventative maintenance. Those fluids do not set off any metal detectors so they are rather easy to smuggle in.
Why target one when you can eradicate many? They are fucking COCKROACHES.
Taking out one is like stepping on a cockroach when the entire building is infested. It does not fix the problem.
They used to hang Horsetheives because your life may depend upon that horse. Well they need to bring that penalty back for car thieves as your life may depend upon that car. Without tires that car is rather useless.
Gas them. It is a proven method of vermin eradication. Pest Control Companies tent and gas buildings daily.
Well...Courthouses are infested with vermin, aren't they?
All thieves need be killed. That is one thing that ISIL has right...
........ I hate to sound like one of those liberal fudge packing sperm chewin' pukes but here I have to take exception with the over simplification, theft is on the rise at street level because so many have lost everthing and are being devolved to the lowest plateaus of survival and it will get worse as time goes by and the comments regarding shotguns I also take exception to, you can't improve society by walking up and blasting away with a shotgun every time someone just trying to make it to the next day decides to play robin hood........ you just can't go using shotguns like that YOU CANNOT!!!
What would Jesus Do
Judge Not lest ye be Judged
Forgive and Forget
.......its the wrong tool for the job
Rakshas, you could just be a real human and that's a good thing.
"I have to take exception with the over simplification, theft is on the rise at street level because so many have lost everthing and are being devolved to the lowest plateaus of survival and it will get worse"
you kill for a car, a tire? - you take a life for that shit? a human only kills to protect a life.
You remind me of a notoriously lenient liberal judge who got mugged in NYC during the 1970s crime wave. At his next court appearance, he announced that this event would not affect his decision-making. To which a woman in the audience shouted, "Mug him again!"
..... Oh shit no under most circumstances - well any circumstance I can think of I would never pull a trigger on a fellow human in need........ that said and to be fair I have never been in the circumstances that are coming our way in the not too distant future; and.... and.... there will be circumstances where yeah there will be a return to unthinkable levels of violence as the theft of even a car tire may constitute a life threatening situation to you and yours.
There are a number of accounts from people who survived the Balkan Genocide and what they had to do....... it ain't pretty
just saw you walk out of a Fudge Packing Club on the eastside-you doing 'undercover research" for a college paper?! ROFL!
Tall tom can be forgiven, he has a devious mind..I think you are better than a monster like obuma having his drones kill the innocent to get a few evil fucks..we ever meet I think we would come to an understanding that target selection is the only thing that makes us justified.
not a fan of random killing that is what .gov is doing(and making too many good kids do it) and I hate them for it..
Inflation personified in a lugnut tire boot = perfect metaphor.
BTW for those who own a Honda car (especially Civic)......watch out.
What would we do without the NYPD?
buy cigarettes a-la-carte?
Das Rayciss.
On the plus side, sales of concrete blocks are soaring.
HAHA, so glad I don't live in that gawd forsaken city. Sure, the smell of manure wafts around from time to time but I don't lock my car at the stores here, and sure as hell don't worry about it ending up on blocks.
agree (and upvoted you) quasimodo, but take it easy..... your wheels go, you buy new ones. they go, you buy more. this is really just a redistribution tax helping to spread the wealth away from the 1%. when you buy so many new wheels that you can't afford weed, then you too are entitled to go out and collect the wheels of others. once you relax and embrace this philosophy, you will enjoy NYC.
NYC has 10M cars and 9M sets of wheels.
Dude, someone borrowed your wheels.
Bolt your wheels on with iPads. Apple products can fix anything!
I'll take manure smell vs inner city shit smells of various type.
Manure is the smell of prosperity and wealth.
A manure smell in a rural area is one thing. A rotten shit smell at an industrial farm or a feed lot with several thousand animals is another.
Sleep in your car with your gun and bear spray.
with any luck that was Al Sharpton's car.
We rimjobbed some folks
With humming spinners.
Remember to loosen your nuts before jacking.
I read it 3 times before it actually clicked. +2!
Beemer wheels - $$
well that didn't take long....Liberals take over...crime coming back!
but you can't eat rims...they barbaric relics
New York has plenty of cool things about it. I lived there for almost 12 years. Yet, I can't for the life of me thnk of a worse place to be from a SHTF perspective than Manhattan Island.
Breathe, bitchez...
6 years after the crisis began, young college grads are flipping burgers part time, living in their parent's home and moonlighting as autostrippers.
This is the Obamocovery
I remember Levi Jeans (who knows that brand anymore) putting a pair on fifth avenue with a sign that said "go ahead and steal 'em" back in the 90's.
I was surprised when the City ordered that "marketing campaign" taken down.
Seemed alright to me.
Not like they were trying to sell jeans like that anywhere else in the country.
and the solution? HANG ALL THESE MOTHERPHUCKERS
and the solution? HANG ALL THESE MOTHERPHUCKERS
This was hot news when "mag" (aluminum) wheels first went mainstream ... about 1985.
I'd guess any self-respecting thief has the keys to the most common 90% of these by now.
Dude!!! My lugs !
BMW up in Jew York. I'll bet the douche voted for Ozero. F him, I hope his kids were late for school and suspended for a year.
That's the first teeter-tooter I've seen in ages.
Someone got rimmed
A 2008~2015(they all look the same) honda civic up my block was missing all its wheels and was up on blocks about 4 weeks ago... was pretty funny, its an unusual thing to see where I am.... first time Ihave seen shit like this in decades.... I thought the market for stolen car parts has all but dried up for the most part... guess I was wrong.
In Chicago the tyranny carried out by the gun and badge thugs is so bad that I have seen cars that have had their wheels ripped off in the night sporting tickets (plural) related to their new condition by morning.
Yes, they ticket the car that they know was ripped off while they were eating donuts, and tazing old ladies elsewhere.
The banksters need to repay us.
The gun and badge thugs are nothing but the "tread of tyranny."
recovery your ass.
rcya.
How useless are cops? Do we really need cops? Thank you Mr. Obvious. Go eat a donut. Oh and, donuts make you fat, I don't know what makes you stupid
If donuts were the most serious issue with he costumed gun and badge thugs, I'd be overjoyed.
No, the problem is their levying Article 3, Section 3 war against the American people that has me concerned.
The banksters need to repay us.
NYC, upon the urging of the NYPD thugs, to make NOT having locking lug nuts a crime punishable with a $200 fine in 3..2..
The banksters need to repay us.

If I knew the 70s were making a comeback I would have kept my bell bottom polyester pants
Yo dawg, we stole your rims and tires.
In the seventies New York city went tits up over five billion dollars, whats the price tag gonna be this time ? New york will revert to the rat infested -built on a pile of shit city that it once was....and then the fun begins !
Had a rash of break-in in my underground parking garage 4 years ago. Neighbouring car to my own was one of those broken into. Local crack addicts were looking for cars with aftermarket GPS systems. The kind that come with the mounting bracket for the windshield and you can plug into the outlet in the astray recepticle. My own was untouched as I have neither. I was concerned. Broken carlite glass beads all over the floor. I called the local police via their phone number. Talked to the operator and explained the situation. Told her to send a cop over to make a report as 4 other car's were broken to. My request was met with;
Operator: Sir was it you car that was broken into?
Me: No, it was the neighbouring car. Four other's in the garage within the vicinity were also broken into.
Operator: Sorry sir, we can't send the police
Me: Why not??????
Operator: Because it wasn't your property
Me: What would have to happen in order for you to send someone here to take a report?
OPerator: There would have to be signs of a violent activity
Me: What's that mean????
Operator: Do you see any shell casings or signs of a bullet laying on the ground or something of that nature?
Me: No, looks like they smashed it with a pipe or something.
OPerator: Then we can't do anything. As it's not your vehicle, please let your neighbour to whom the vehicle belongs to make the call to police.
Me: You're kidding!!!!!!
Toronto Cops are uselss. They'll stand there and watch over a hole all day at a construction site, but call them to report a theft and they turn you away.
I believe it's pointless to call a cop about a car theft these days. Fucking police departments have figured out that car owners are typically insured and that insurance will cover the cost of theft and damage, so they don't both responding.
