"Success is anything but certain," warned Germany's Merkel during the uncomfortably un-united joint press conference as both the leaders appeared to be able to agree on only one thing - that a military solution will not happen. This was followed by what appeared to be President Obama conceding to Merkel that the provision of arms to Ukraine was kinda sorta 'off-the-table' - though still under "ongoing analysis." Hopes remain for a diplomatic solution and President Obama even concluded, "we are not looking for Russia to fail. ... Our preference is for a strong, vibrant, confident Russia." Other items that caused some tension included Iran, Israel, NSA "trust" and US asking for "benefit of the doubt," and Greek anti-austerity plans...

The same people who "have never seen a war they didn't like" (since they will have plans for very comfortable relocation should things escalate beyond their comfort zone).

Speaking of the 5th column in Russia. Recently, I came across the online discussion of some ethnic Ukrainian doctor in the Russian far east region. Apparently, she posted some nasty anti-Russian comments online. That propelled her patients to leave due to the reasonable fear for their lives and safety. The general opinion is that people don't want to be treated by the fascist doctor.

If you were an ethnic Russian, would you see a doctor who openly espouses hatred against your race?

Who even cares, Volkodav. Ukrainians are the only ones that have the right to decide what Ukraine is or will be, not lawyers, politicians or historians. If they want to consider themselves another planet, then why should any of us care?
There are millions of ethnic-Russian, Russian-speaking people that have lived their entire lives in Ukraine and consider themselves Ukrainian. They don't want to leave their homes and move to Russia, they want to stay in their homes in Ukraine and not be treated like garbage by Kiev. Plenty of ethnic Ukrainians agree and have not been convinced to hate Russia or Russian-speaking Ukrainians, despite the constant brainwashing they're subject to by Kiev to think otherwise.
Regardless of what we hear in the media, I have to think that most Ukrainians have the common sense of these people in Zaporzhia. I'll trust a tomato farmer hands down over a politician any day. I don't even want to argue about if there is such a thing as an ethnic Ukrainian or not because it never justified the coup and war. The coup was never really about 'ethnic Ukrainians' trying to preserve their culture - that was just an excuse the criminals used. The coup was about what some rich U.S., EU and Ukrainian oligarchs want for their own benefit that some other rich Russian and Ukrainian oligarchs had or controlled. It was a gang war disguised as some kind of Ukrainian nationalism/freedom movement. It was all a lie.
I will never for one day believe that the majority of Western Ukrainians felt it necessary to stage an armed coup and ethnically cleanse Eastern Ukraine to preserve some kind of Ukrainian identity and free themselves from the clutches of evil Russia. A few of them? Sure. But I'll bet it would be fairly easy to find a Western Ukrainian tomato farmer that recognizes it all as bullshit and never saw the need to de-Russify Ukraine and start WW III for that purpose.
I believe most Western Ukrainians know damn well they are being used as tools by both the West and their own oligarchs. The eastern part of Ukraine were Russians. When Russia went into Crimea, did anybody die? Did anybody rebel? They are RUSSIANS! It's like the east side of Niagra Falls "invading" the west side. There is no Russian "invasion" - this was even confirmed by Ukrainian officials... why would they lie, huh? There certainly is Russian support of the Eastern rebels, but there is no "invasion", that's just rubbish. If there actually was a Russian invasion Kiev would fall within 3 weeks... Now the real question is HOW this mess was created in the first place. I don't recall Russia suddenly deciding to add new territory, e.g. annex Crimea? Yes, what they did was wrong BUT they only acted in the context of earlier events in Kiev - today Ukraine is being governed by 2 individuals (Yats and Poroh) both hand picked by the US. There were no rebels prior to US meddling. They should have kept their noses out of this.
