Elizabeth Warren Opposes "Congressional Meddling" 'Audit The Fed' Bill
It would appear the powers that be are getting nervous. Yesterday, Fed Governor Jerome Powell (and Fisher and Plosser) stepped up the central bank’s push against what he termed congressional efforts to extend political influence over monetary policy, calling them "misguided" and "in violent conflict with the facts." Today we have Senator Elizabeth Warren trying to sound supportive of transparency but proclaiming that she opposes Rand Paul's "Audit The Fed" Bill because it promotes "congressional meddling in the Fed’s monetary policy decisions."
Desperate to appear a huge opponent to Wall Street (and The Fed) Warren begins... (as Bloomberg reports)
while she “strongly” supports greater congressional oversight of Fed’s regulatory and supervisory responsibilities
Then retraces and hinders the efforts to bring transparency:
[Warren] opposes current version of Fed audit legislation because it promotes “congressional meddling in the Fed’s monetary policy decisions,” according to e-mailed statement from Warren office.
Such meddling risks “politicizing those decisions and may have dangerous implications for financial stability and the health of the global economy”
Her full statement read:
"I strongly support and continue to press for greater congressional oversight of the Fed’s regulatory and supervisory responsibilities, and I believe the Fed’s balance sheet should be regularly audited – which the law already requires."
"But I oppose the current version of this bill because it promotes congressional meddling in the Fed’s monetary policy decisions, which risks politicizing those decisions and may have dangerous implications for financial stability and the health of the global economy."
* * *
Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has introduced bill, S. 264, that would require “full audit” of Fed; measure has ~30 cosponsors
The Fed is coming out swinging against Paul's Bill...
Three Federal Reserve officials criticized proposed legislation to expand congressional oversight of the central bank’s interest-rate decisions, pushing back against the bill as it is gaining attention.
Fed governor Jerome Powell on Monday called the bill, known to supporters as “Audit the Fed,” misguided. He said it would threaten the central bank’s independence.
The bill “risks inserting the Congress directly into monetary-policy decision making, reversing decades of deliberate effort by the Congress to insulate the Fed from political pressure in carrying out its day-to-day duties,” Mr. Powell said in a speech in Washington.
Philadelphia Fed President Charles Plosser, speaking earlier Monday on Fox Business Network, said of the bill, “To sort of second-guess and put political pressure on the Fed to make decisions…for short-term political reasons I think would be very dangerous.”
Dallas Fed President Richard Fisher , speaking later Monday on Fox Business Network, said that the bill is about “interfering with the making of monetary policy,” and that the central bank is already “audited out the wazoo.”
* * *
And more are piling in...
- FURMAN SAYS AUDITING FEDERAL RESERVE WOULD BE `DANGEROUS'
- FURMAN SAYS HE WOULD ADVISE OBAMA TO OPPOSE AUDITING FED
- FURMAN SAYS FED `ENORMOUSLY TRANSPARENT'
Perhaps this sums up the opposition best...
If we allow oversight of the Fed, it could become more difficult to funnel trillions to failed bankers.

well that didn't take long
Well fuck her then.
Fuck her, statist bitch. But to have a chance at the dem nomination, she pretty much has to be here.
she IS the problem.
And...capture
Warren is absolutely right – I don’t know why we’re even debating this. Our Federal Reserve was specifically - SPECIFICALLY – set up to be INDEPENDENT. There’s no further debate. Anyone trying to audit our Federal Reserve need to read the law and get an education.
http://accredited-times.com/2015/02/09/breaking-the-cycle-of-poverty-2/c...
Oh MDB, you're playing with fire trying to put sarcasm here.
von Havenstein has your ass kicked above.
And let me add, "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. He has your best interests in mind while he won't let you see anything he is doing."
Independent yet the IRS can audit anyone anytime. Every company in the US can be investigated audited, senate investigation but the FED where does it say that ??
You're losing it MDB. Can see that to make an impact you're trying to use all caps and bold, but it ain't workin'.
As a last ditch effort before your failure, try adding profanity. That's what Dice Clay used to do when he stopped being funny and it worked for a while.
The gubmint uses the Fed to make policy so they don't have to....by not being transparent the Fed is not accountable and then neither is the gubbermint. Make the Fed transparent and accountable and then the gubbermint MUST do something as far as making economic policy. When this occurs the public will really figure who is who and what they stand for...Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Lizzy Warren and a whole lot more pols don't want this to happen becasue it shits on their parade and charade.
Btw MDB, the Fed is not independent...I know economic advisors who worked in the past for adminstrations and the Fed who have told me the Fed takes its marching orders straight from the White House....if you don't believe that then you are either stoopid, naive or both.
"because it promotes "congressional meddling in the Fed’s monetary policy decisions,"
The unmitigated gall of this statement is breathtaking.
It's only the Congress' Constitutional responsibility to regulate and coin money... that's all.
But, why quibble about something as trivial as obeying the laws of our land.
Article. I., Section. 8. The Constitution of The United States, "The Congress shall have power to coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreigh Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;"
I just reread the constitution and it appears that only congress can control money and therefore by extension monetary policy.
So they got to Pocahontas, too
Probably just a handfull of shiny beads
Ms Judas
"Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has introduced bill, S. 264, that would require “full audit” of Fed; measure has ~30 cosponsors"
Soon to be reclassified as 30 co-conspirators..
Is Warren a membero of the tribe or did they just buy her off with freshly printed bills straight from the fed to her Swiss accounts. By the way is it just me or does Yellens head look like a Melon lol.
Now do you see why we put them in ovens?
Put who in ovens, 1/32 Native-American women college professors with blue eyes?
liberal harvard law prof. puts faith in the plutocracy (the new communism). Now theres a shocker.
I wonder what gibberish spewed forth in class when it came time to teach Article I, Section 8, Clause 5
Lord Acton paraphrased: Power corrupts senators and Federal Reserve bankers equally. The greatest economic heresy is that the office of Federal Reserve banker sanctifies the holders thereof.
Rhetorical question about moral hazards: If a Federal Reserve banker were malfeasant would a Federal Reserve Bank report it?
We dont want Congressional accountability interfering with the TBTF Bank-run Fed's ability to rule

It's Official , Warren is a Bought & Paid far Puppet NOW !

Haven't we all learned yet... politicians are completely worthless, they are all owned by someone and it's not you and I.
They do what they want without fear of repercussions.
fed: "YOU WANT THE TRUTH, YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!"
See thats the problem, the framers clearly didn't state anything about unrestrained fiat printing...
Exactly. We don't use money anymore.
.
"Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has introduced bill, S. 264, that would require “full audit” of Fed; measure has ~30 cosponsors"
Clearly a Tea Party nutcase, some sort of reptilian shape shifter strategy. His wife probably works for Mary Kay and is tied somehow to Wall Street.
HE HAS HIS UNVACCINATED CHILDREN RUNNING AMOK IN OUR SCHOOL SYSTEM!!! ;-)
And just like his daddy, he won't say a word about 911 truth, either. 'Cos that's not important. Naw.
Agree JS Bach. Same as saying "we are getting away with murder and wish to continue with it, now leave us alone".
Second point if you were congress feeding off the broken FRB system, what good would an audit do ? No one in congress will tamper with the hand that feeds them. That's like asking the mafia to enforce the law.
Truly congress audit of FRB will yield nothing. Let it tumble from its own lawlessness.
And let's remember that before there was a fed, there was no income tax and no IRS. The taxing authority exists for this privately owned central bank to collect interest on the currency it issues.
Calling the FED "privately owned" is misleading. The four biggest shareholders of the FED are:
1039502
JPMORGAN CHASE & CO.1073757
BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATION
1120754
WELLS FARGO & COMPANY1951350
CITIGROUP INC.These are the "people" that are collecting the interest on the currency issued, and receiving handouts and bailouts at taxpayer expense, and overseen and regulated by THE VERY FEDERAL RESERVE THEY OWN.
Tinfoil hats aren't cute, and they often make people blind to the blindingly obvious.
In fact it's so blindingly obvious- most people could read it two or three times and still miss it.
And they miss this bit also:
TITLE 12 - BANKS AND BANKING
CHAPTER 3 - FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM
SUBCHAPTER XII - FEDERAL RESERVE NOTES
§ 411. Issuance to reserve banks; nature of obligation; redemption
Federal reserve notes, to be issued at the discretion of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System for the purpose of making advances to Federal reserve banks through the Federal reserve agents as hereinafter set forth and for no other purpose, are authorized. The said notes shall be obligations of the United States and shall be receivable by all national and member banks and Federal reserve banks and for all taxes, customs, and other public dues. They shall be redeemed in lawful money on demand at the Treasury Department of the United States, in the city of Washington, District of Columbia, or at any Federal Reserve bank. (Dec. 23, 1913, ch. 6, § 16 (par.), 38 Stat. 265; Jan. 30, 1934, ch. 6, § 2(b)(1), 48 Stat. 337; Aug. 23, 1935, ch. 614, title II, § 203(a), 49 Stat. 704.).
Yeah, and emphasis mine.
And you've tried to redeem FRNs for lawful money in the district or at a Fed Reserve Bank?
Since FRNs are lawful money they'll just give you more of the same (the circle is the perfect shape when one seeks immunity/invincibility).
After Nixon, the banks weren't required to offer United States Notes in redemption, and after Clinton they didn't even have the option of redeeming FRNs for USNs. Going further into the wayback machine, LBJ killed Silver Notes and FDR killed gold redemption.
Look carefully at the face side of FRN's in your pocket. They all have two very slightly different serial #'s. One for the FED side and one for the U.S. Treasury side. That makes them different but on the same piece of paper. Why would CONgress put that language in a law if you did not have a choice about which side you would be using? Why design a currency with two slightly different "faces". What is the practical difference? Maybe nothing but I smell a rat. I simply put the words "Redeemed in lawful money pursuant to 12 USC 411" when I endorse any checks. The bank honors it. There is now no doubt that I am using lawful money, the U.S. Note printed on the opposite side of the paper from the FED Note. I want nothing to due with the FED. How the bank accounts for things, I have no idea. Don't really care.
The only thing moar worthless than the FRNs in your wallet are the ones you leave in a bank account as the lawful property of that bank.

Correct.
Finding the balance between gold, silver and good farmland is my challenge.
I had a rubber stamp made with USC Title 12 section 411, etc, for endorsing all my checks deposited into the bank.
~"I want nothing to due with the FED."~
I'd like to think you were trying to be punnish there, but I doubt it.
On a different note and for the record, I personally like my Congress on the "meddlesome" side.
Opps. Intended to say "do". That is what I get for working a long day.
I am pretty sure it is not "my" Congress. They work for somebody else obviously. Pretty certain it is not for Americans.
Since when has "reading the law" had ANYTHING with being law abiding??????
FO'B
MDB you are devoid of Fed history.
What is this " Our " you speak of? you own nothing.
all most every politician is the enemy. nothing more to add...
This should put to rest any lingering doubts of Warren being different than the rest of the serpents in office.
Real simple, Yellen got to Warren's box
She knows who butters her bread.
She's just another whore. No different than all the rest.
Well, except for little pocohontas whore likes to pretend to be getting tough on Wall St.
There are one or two exceptions in Congress.
Ron DeSantis ??
Obviously, the 30 co-sponspors are all different. And thanks Ron and Rand Paul for never wavering on this "litmus test" bill. It will be clear who to boot out of office after the votes are in. And of course, that traitor Obama will try to veto it. But maybe can be overturned by 2/3-that would be better than any outcome one could imagine. Our future depends on auditing then shutting down the FED when the audit shows the amounts of illegal transfers to funds to money center banks. Then the .gov will have to operate on tax receipts alone, no debt monitorization. That's why socialists like Warren hate this bill!
The more the FED opposes it the more I believe it has real teeth.
The law of nature is that you own what you can take and keep. It's going to be very interesting when the civilized world is once again introduced to natural law.
ok, fine. how about an independent audit managed not by the fed, but 12 people randomly picked out of the phonebook.
Sounds like a good idea but it appears that the audit will ultimately be accomplished by 10 million angry people with pitch forks and guillotines.

Is that why that raging cunt Yellen gave fellow democrats that heads up about her FOMC meeting prior to the public?
How, hi are you?
...
promotes "congressional meddling in the Fed’s monetary policy decisions."
By no means should the same CONgress that can print money (Article I sect 8) have any oversight over the FED - the same that has been in complete control of the US economy for over a century & is solely internally regulated be answerable to CONgress or the people.
Why should the Federal Reserve have any independence when they're handling public funds?
What you're saying is that unaccountable organization can make private decisions about the public's money. That's absurd.
I can never figure out which button to hit for MDB's unlabeled sarc, but I almost always feel like hitting a button after reading.
The bill “risks inserting the Congress directly into monetary-policy decision making
Oh my god, this bill risks inserting Congress back into its rightful place...
Now you went and used the C-word, making you an obvious domestic terrorist. Welcome aboard!
"Strangely, I see NOPLACE where Congress has the power to delegate that authority to an "independant" (and privately owned) Central Bank."
that's because you don't understand that great leaders know how to delegate responsibility. congress has merely delegated this financial responsibility to a professional financial institution, so that congress can focus on the important task of running the country, creating jobs, enabling the recovery, and bringing this great nation to a brighter and more prosperous future than it has ever had before!
Our firm is audited at least once a year...are you saying that our business is not independent from the auditors?
For alleged business people, some of you are pretty fucking stupid when it comes to separating reality from rhetoric.
LOL
MDB, I gave you a downvote just to give ya an even hundred.
Kudos!
Monetary policy. What is monetary policy?
The Constitution gave Congress the right/responsibility/authority to "coin" money. That is monetary policy as far as I am concerned.
Can Congress subcontract that out? Of course it can. That is not a bad thing. But it should damn well mae sure that its contractor of choice - that would be the Fed - has no conflict of interest. What is a conflict of interest? Well....how about when a bank makes a pile of really bad loans - think MBS - and the Fed prints money and buys them (for par?) off of the foolish banks, whioch own and staff th Fed. That would be a conflict of interest. Probably the most blatant in the history of mankind.
Memo to Fauxcohantas: The Currency Act of 1792 provided for the death penalty for dicking around with the value of the dollar. Why did they do that? There must have been some reason. What's that? It was written by dead white European males!?!?! Oh. Of course. We should just ignore the reason behind it. Like.....Lizy babe....ummmmm...when you hire a contractor to paint your house...like....do you.....even go bother to see if they used the beige paint you specified instead of the purple they applied? No??? That would be interfering? I get it.
There is absolutely No solution that will ever come out of D.C.
That applies to all the demorepublicraps. That includes Rand Paul.
I guess her bribery check finally cleared. Welcome to the party, Warren!
I guess she chose to be listened to, and that from here on out certain people can't be criticized.
I held out some hope that she'd be different.
I gave up on her being a legitimate anti-banker a long time ago. She has had literally years to show that her gum flapping was more than gum flapping, and I have seen exactly jack shit come out of her various positions including as a Senator. Just another one who says things that people want to hear while doing the opposite.
But I hear she can make a mean peace pipe.
Nothing like a little smoke to keep those "roving band of marauders" at bay.
I bet you're very disappointed since she's a socialist like you.
Would've been the perfect match, eh?
The word 'socialism' is misused and misapplied too often, like 'inflation' and 'deflation.'
Statists is clear, but socialists must be statists because since money doesn't grow on trees it must be counterfeited into existence via debt. That's the purpose of the FED. Its the dealer/pusher and .gov is the user. Central planners= statists = socialists. Its really very clear. You either favor the individual and freedom or central control by "experts" like those private bankers running the FED. Its the eternal war which never ceases as pointed out by Ayn Rand.
Just like every other critter in Congress, somebody has got the dirt on her.

Basement full of Midget Trannies ... gossip has it.
What about "We The People" then? Why can't we collectively put the pressure on and demand the Fed get audited?
Perhaps we can all pitch in a penny or two and attempt to find some 3rd party firm who's willing to take on the Kamikaze act of performing this audit as their final move.
"We the People" would actually have to know what the Fed is.
As an experiment, tomorrow ask 10 random people that question. If you find one that can answer correctly, I'd be very surprised.
Her supposed diatribes against the bankseters were nothing but a call for the gravy train to stop at her doorstep. Politihacks will never allow a peek behind the curtain if they want to continue to receive huge, legalized bribes - and remain out of the proximity of mechanically unsafe aircraft, malfunctioning nailguns, and defective hot tubs.
Yep, just like those 'truth' clowns with their anti smoking ads....think they really are anti smoking radicals? Nonsense, they found a great way to get bribes from tobacco companies, BIG mucho dinero!
Maybe she has a point. What has congress done lately that they haven't done for their own enrichment? Eerything in those halls comes with a price tag. Why doesn't she word a bill then the way she percieves fit and let the people decide? Maybe there's a good chance she could, but does she want to?
The doubt seems strong with this one.
As a staunch liberal, I strongly supported congressional oversight and auditing of the Federal Reserve but I now strongly oppose it because Sen Warren is against it.
This was a shrewd move on Warren's part. First she's an Indian... excuse me, Native American. And now she's an Indian best buddy to the banking elite. She's making ALL the right moves here.
If this woman isn't our next president I'll be shocked.
She better get to the wailing wall and adorn her yarmukle, stat.
Obedience is the problem.
The ring of power was really a printing press.
They're all owned and controlled like barking seals by the money.
Sure. Lets just let the criminal mafia who control our money, our future and our way of life go unaudited. Makes perfect sense.

I thought the "Occupy" peeps wanted the Fed audited.....
I think this puts Warren on the wrong side of her Lib base
Not true.
As staunch liberals, we are 100% behind Senator Warren regardless of ethics, morals, integrity and all those arbitrary things.
And besides, the Dem party base is not really interested in anything except free government cheese.
Not true. I personally prefer Kraft. I buy it in bulk with my EBT card.
Classic "problem of instrument" paradox we have here.
"Liberals" occasionally want to play the vanguards of "unfucking" the Government because they need the Government to execute each and every one of their Statist pipe dreams.
On the other hand, they need us to be true believers in the intruments of Government. If the organs appear too corrupted, the people may want to gut the monopoly to some extent that the "liberals" find unacceptable.
The best answer is to have a controlled oposition group to trot out as paragons of "good Government" defenders, say things like "audit the Fed," have them flip flop around for as long as necessary for continuity of Government, then let them die a natural death of popular derision and negative sentiment. Then, have a few soul-lacking Pols invoke the spirit of the "oposition," maintain the status quo because that's how you "honor their spirit/scarifice/whatever."
This is not a comment on people who want to permanently end the Fed. Good on them.
She's a complete phony, talks about ending TBTF then voted to confirm the poster boy for TBTF, Jack Lew. Big talker, but when she has the chance to act, she stands with the oligarchy.
Fuck Warren, fuck Paul, and fuck this bill! Bill is a smokescreen.
We want DEATH for the FED! This bill just gives the Fed an annual physical and colonoscopy. Fed is a malignancy eating away our country. I have no need to check them for cancerous rectal polyps!
She must have been lapping Hitlery's cunt.
You sound surprised that a rich progressive Senator from Massachusetts, who used to represent big money firms, would come out against an audit of the biggest money firm of all.
Did you know there is also gambling going on inside?
^me being funny, don't get offended.
what a disapointment. I don't want to go out with her anymore.

It didn't take any time at all. Don't tell me people actually thought that she was against the banks?
"....against the banks"?
She is an elitist establishment superstar with a touch of feminazism thrown in for good measure. Her largest campaign contributor is the heir to the IBM fortune and is a co-chair of Hitllarie's presidential campaign. Ever heard of Ellen Malcolm? How about Emily's list? I didn't think so.....she is the utimat insider elitistls' elitist....buttressed by the fact that her wikipedia bio is all of about ten words long. Check out Opensecrets.org for Elizabeth Warrens top five campaign contributors. Amazing how so many can be fooled by lying rhetoric spouted by politicians and then repeated by the elitestream media for weeks untill focus group polling starts reflecting the fact that it is established gospel held by Boobus Americanus
She is highly intelligent, and understand the rhetoric of divide on conquer. Unfortunately show knows nothing of value, and even less about how to use her mind.
She is a waste of Oxygen.

For starters, there is a finite limit on Au/Ag, not so with paper Munny!
Exactly.

Get to work Mr. Bullard!
Warren is Dutch for mixed up
Elizabeth Warren Democrat champion of the little people. Protector of the poor and down trodden. LOL. Tell me another good fairy tale.
Who do you believe more Rand Paul or Liz Warren?
Do you think this Congress is not the worst expression of US Oligarchy...?
These guys, especially the Repug neo-cons, are what has made Pax Americana what it is.
And this Congress just reeks of that smell.
Now tell me how a Repug is gonna do anything else except protect the status quo that Liz is fighting against tooth and nail.
Are you guys delusional?
Who do you believe more Rand Paul or Liz Warren?
Neither.
I don't trust anyone with two first names, except Rand's dad.
We're delusional and yet you think Warren is fighting for you ha ha ha the hypocrisy it burns!
If you think that the Repugs could audit the FED, then you should believe the Squid can audit JPM !
Warren is the only one who kicks out the teeth of the bankstas OPENLy.
She keeps asking for the TBTF to pay in blood, like her take on HSBC and the lack of congressional supervision.
She wants CRIMINAL proceeding against HSBC whereas this admin has white washed them after payment of fine!
Who says that other than her in Congress ?
Acting class starts at 7...be there.
Hey acting class is for those guys in congress; not me; and don't foul mouth the only congress woman who goes for the nuts of Oligarchy.
You guys can troll and hide your false noses of those who support the scammers and the Casino by saying that whistle blowers are all actors.
I'll believe a man when he says those who fight the TBTF openly are his friends. All else is just smoke n mirrors.
Yeah because she wants to totally socialize the banking system. She doesn't lay a finger on the evil extortionate corrupt political system. No one beats this cheating manipulative hypocrite! She wrote the book my friend!
She would re-install GLass steagall. And you ?
Moar of the oligarchy ass wipe?
Like the guy said Talk is cheap at ZH.
Libertarians are the biggest suckers to the Oligarchy in the name of NO REGULATION.
This FED WORKS for the neo-cons who own the world.
So BEFORE you change the TOOL you have to change the POWER CONSTRUCT.
Power leads the money line. FED is just a tool as the state works for those Congressional fools.
You are in denial of causality.
You statist idiots think that passing laws matter? If laws matter, the bankers would be in prison, not paying measly little fines for stealing trillions of dollars. It's called selective enforcement, you dolt.
Then why hasn't she gone after ol' Silver Bill Clinton who eliminated Glass Steagall and ORDERED the banks to take on leverage & risk & sub-prime loans & ultimately blow-up the financial system? A US$10T disaster and she has NEVER called for any other the political 'trigger pullers' to be charged or jailed! Because she never touches the infected criminal bureaucracy. She is all about big bloated powerful central control! Plus she has an interesting track record of self-dealing larceny! Shge indeed is the TOOL thats needs to be changed! If you think this witch is gonna save u then u r in bigger trouble than u think!
The current "progressive" administration could've re-instated Glass-Steagall, but they didn't... and neither would Warren. Instead of financial reform, we got Dodd-Frank... terrible legislation that was written to be evaded & neutered. The current admin. appointed Summers & Geithner, among others... all Wall St. cronies representing the worst of the 1%. Hope & change, my ass. If you call yourself a progressive, then you've been duped... first by Obama, and now by Warren.
BTW, the Fed is a private bank, accountable to no one but it's owners (global corporate banks that largely constitute/empower the "1%" that Warren and the Occupy folks villianize relentlessly). By not supporting an audit of the Fed, Warren is openly double-crossing Occupy, her base. You do recognize this fact, yes?
IMO, Warren is a sell-out and is now getting in line behind Hillary Clinton (herself a Wall St. whore and neocon).
If there was no Hope and no Change under Pres. Obama, then there will none under any democrat. So-called progressives need to wake up and realize they've been played as fools. A Dem vote is the same as a Repub vote... one party, owned by the banks for the service of established (wealthy) interests.
Say what you want about the tea party, but at least they have balls enough to buck the establishment and affect change. Will progressives buck the DNC and demand real change? I'll believe it when I see it...
"She ( Elizabeth Warren ) would re-install GLass steagall. "
What is the title and the number of the Bill she has submitted to Congress for a vote on said re-insallation of Glass-Steagal.
Better: post the language of the bill in todo for all on ZH to see and parse.
Talk is cheap.
All talk, no action you dupe. 0bozo was saying the same thing when he was running for president. How did that work out?
Now tell me why auditing the fed and opening its books for the world to see would be a bad thing. I'm waiting.
