The Global Death Cross Just Got "Deathier"

Tyler Durden's picture

"X" continues to mark the spot of the death of global investor rationality...

19 "policy easings" since the start of the year have surged global equity prices to record highs but has sent expectations for global GDP growth to cycle lows...

When does the foundation of faith in central planners start to break?

So that means this is a good time to get into the markets while they are temporairly down, right? I mean I don't think we've made a new All Time High for three days, so that means these markets should be going up tomorrow and next week... so I don't want to miss out on this move. Like the big move that is coming soon.

well now i wouldn't say that. suffice to say, i take whatever MSM says and assume they are trying to trick me into something, so i do the opposite.  with regard to the markets, i only invest in things i know really well.  like my own small business, and the small businesses of my friends and close associates.  we do okay, without a lot of counter-party risk. take profits, pay down debt, and stack.

Fonest@r? How about a tangible currency backed by a basket, or just gold, silver & oil.

90% of people over 40 can't use or even understand BTC, especially how their wealth is protected and those that have no internet?

To each his own but bitcoin is essentially fiat. Too much counter party risk, nothing backing it, the exchanges being hacked and millions taken doesn't entail a safe store of wealth. A lot of us here @ ZH called the first 500-600$ bubble top then called it again at $1,100 top.

BTC will have a use one day relatively soon. But it alone is not the answer to the FED, US government or the dollar.

And who exactly are we to trust with this 'backing'?  News Flash!  They fucking lie.  I would like to see some gold and silver coins, backed by the gold or silver in the coin.  Otherwise, the lie continues.

Trust your block chain to back it with something.

The rest of us would like to see a metallic money system again or at the very least a circulating currency backed by gold and silver. Which if you were paying attention the past 2 years, that is what Russia, China, Iran and soon to be in the open, Saudia Arabia are doing. They know the dollar is ponzi scheme extortion and they know who started debasing heir currency to this madness, the reserve currency no less.

I could list a ton of counter party risk to BTC, where as gold has none. So please tell me if you have bought BTC over 260$ where that non-fiat, Fed destroying and humanities chance at financial freedom went.

You might be out currency outright and a lot of stackers are too. The difference being I still have my phyzz, and am cost averaging my PMs that have been on sale for 2 years due to price manipulation.

If you made a fortune, awesome, sincerely. But that just means you rode the speculative bubble correctly. BTC is really no different than world of warcraft gold.

"WHEN THE CORPORATE WELFARE CHECKS BOUNCE"

That would for sure be a moment of change - could even see a little bit of so called "blood in the street" type buying opportunity on Wall Street.

But if you want to see actual blood in the street of every major USA city - cut off the fucking EBT cards for a few weeks.

Some think (I don't BTW) accelerated depreciation is the same thing as welfare - but no CEO is going to shoot up a 7-11 because he has to depreciate the corporate jet over 20 years instead of 10.

Bin Laden died in Early 2002 as he was on dialysis... and anyone familiar to what that means... He had months after 9/11 to live, not 10 years. I mean hell the Osama they killed in 2011 had totally different facial features (not to mention the only person on Earth that grows younger over 10 years, besides maybe Benjamin Button)... especially the ears, as they are like fingerprints. Believe it or not I can remember a time when folk invested in company shares because the company they were investing in was making a profit and was commerically sound. And it was a time when the share price reflected the company's financial performance and it's commercial performance.

I can't even begin these days to try to second guess the reason for share values in the majority of companies, given their financial and commercial performance.

Snowden’s Revenge: New Mega-Spying Project Revealed http://thebea.st/1DxQ9XW is far more interesting news

Thu, 02/19/2015 - 21:13 | 5806167 km4
km4's picture

The revelation follows another a report this week about NSA’s aggressive cyber operations. The Russian cyber security firm Kaspersky disclosed that a secret unit it called the “Equation Group” has permanently embedded surveillance and sabotage devices on computers around the world, drilling down to the level of computer hardware, an especially pernicious and highly-skilled feat of hacking. Clues in the Snowden files—and in the malware Kaspersky discovered—strongly indicated that the “Equation Group” was part of the NSA.

Kevin Poulsen, the renowned former hacker, said the Group’s work was so sophisticated, and so advanced, that it was essentially the cyberwar equivalent to the Manhattan Project.

“There are update mechanisms, dozens of plug-ins, a self-destruct function, massive code obfuscation, hundreds of fake websites to serve as command-and-control, Poulsen wrote in Wired. “One of the NSA’s malware plug-ins can even reprogram your hard drive’s firmware, allowing the implant to survive a complete disk wipe—a feat that’s been demonstrated by computer scientists under laboratory conditions but never before seen in the wild.”

By secretly undermining or disabling encryption and other features that provide some measure of privacy and security to everyday computer and phone users, the NSA is arguably undermining cyber security on a broad scale. Previous disclosures based on documents leaked by Snowden showed that the NSA collects information on undefended vulnerabilities in computer software and operating systems, known as zero days, rather than disclosing that information to manufacturers so they can protect their customers.

If a Pubically owned Corporation is not producing Goods and Services then revenues will decrease. (Supposedly GDP is a measure, an indicator, of actual annual production. However I understand that while it is not accurate due to Government manipulations of the data, that it still is an indicator albeit a skewed indicator...)

The wealth, the value, of the Corporation declines due to the decline in revenues from lack of production and consequential sales, added to the affect of Durable Asset Depreciation.

This negative valuation, in a rational world, will affect Stock Prices as the underlying asset, the Publically Owned Corporation, has realized a Capital Loss. As a Stock ideally represents a fraction of ownership in a Publically Owned Corporation then the value of the share will also decline proportionally.

The chart demonstrates the irrationality between Stock Prices and current Market Valuations.

Enjoy your irrational exuberance while it lasts, but, as the Tech Crash of 2000 demonstrated, the irrationality will not continue forever.

And I hope that a troll, as yourself, loses everything that he has so that you may learn some humility.

Tall Tom:

The largest parts of GDP are "Services" and "Government".  Government takes at least as much out of Gross National Income (GNI) as they claim to "produce" in Gross National Product (GDP).

So GDP can appear to grow as Government increases their confiscation of National Income.  Short-term it looks like a winner, Long-Term it is a cancer on GDP.

And flipping and churning stocks, bonds, derivatives, etc all form part of "services". The illusion of prosperity while the reserve currency reigns.

It is all about relative yield.  Zero interest rates and positive cash flow over interest carry means stocks keep going up.

For me that chart is a key exhibit for proof of Zion.

The connected and Amongst get richer, while the sheeple get poorer.

The banksters need to repay us.

No Unix, calm down- pretty sure he said banksters.  It's a fine line, but there is a difference.

As I hijack the thread for a minute.  Have you noticed the increased volume of stories that are breaking that are all headed in some way towards serious disaster.  It seemed to really get underway the first of this month, but yesterday and today there is mountains of material to read and digest.  Trying to get the best of the comments also requires time and effort as the trolls offer the worst crap imaginable.  Middleton was very welcome, in my opinion, to some of the comment sections.  He does know banking.

Several commentors have indicated that something has to break soon, and probably will.  Step back and look at the big picture, all of it.   It might just protect you knowing all of what is going on.  Especially those still in the market, which is like a Greek with money in the bank.

I'm trying to take that wide, long view as well.  It has occurred to me that Valentine's Day 2015 will become synonomous with TEOTWAWKI.

Road traffic is noticeably down (N. GA.) and you can get a table at any restaurant at a moment's notice.  Sure, it's been cold and shitty.  But WTF!

Reggie's too long-winded for me, so I'll take your word for it- I do think he offers oft-overlooked insight at times, though.

From a friend on Facebook.
She runs a green grocer in Chicago and is a community boon. This shows where we are at currently. I feel bad for her....

.
"Chicago friends-I need your help. I normally would never put something like this on FB but our store here is struggling. I know it's cold. I know parking is a beast everywhere in the city but I'm hoping to ask you all for any support you can give. It's sad to see the shop that we and our team have worked so hard to keep running start to decline and it's getting to a pretty serious place. Anyhow, anything you could do to stop by or send nearby friends in to see us would be great. We have always been huge patrons of small local farms/producers and we desperately want to keep doing that. Sorry for the sad message but I think this is the time for candor and really asking for what we need. I thank all of you in advance for anything you are able to do. I am so grateful for what we have been able to do since 2008 and I just hope we can continue doing it. Love to all of you and all people everywhere."

She's fucked. We are fucked.

Well, construction across the river from DC is booming. A few blocks from my salt mine sits a massive new gleaming high security enclave occupied by the FDIC, built a few years back. Last year they took over another 13 story building one block over, and demo'd everything on the block in between to start construction on another high rise that fills the entire block. Smells like collapsing banks in the wind. Thank gawd for Dodd-Frank.
