Oligarch Rules: Jeb Bush Surrounds Himself With Architects Of His Brother's Iraq War

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Mike Krieger via Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

According to Reuters’ Steve Holland, Bush has tapped a “diverse” roster of former George W. Bush and George H. W. Bush officials to advise his burgeoning campaign on foreign policy, including key architects of the 2002 invasion of Iraq.

The list of advisers provided to Reuters by a campaign aid includes Paul Wolfowitz and Stephen Hadley, as well as former George W. Bush Homeland Security Secretaries Tom Ridge and Michael Chertoff, and Bush adviser Meghan O’Sullivan.

— From the Think Progress article: The Same People Who Lied To You About Iraq Are Now In Charge Of Jeb Bush’s Foreign Policy

It may be hard to believe, but either one of the two status quo choices for U.S. President currently being force-fed down the American public’s throat will be almost unquestionably more imperial and warlike than Barack Obama. The reason is simple. Any society that apathetically stands by as one President after the other tramples on the Constitution will be subject to a litany of increasingly tyrannical, and even insane, leaders. This is why the oligarchy isn’t even pretending that we live in a Republic or a Democracy anymore. They are shoving our pathetic servitude right in our face by putting up these two preposterous and dangerous candidates.

If you still had any doubt, today we learn that Jeb Bush is actively surrounding himself with the exact same people who under the George W. Bush administration, masterminded the terrible tragedy known as the Iraq war.

Think Progress covered this predictable, yet terrifying, reality earlier today. Brace yourself:

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) will deliver a speech on Wednesday that seeks to distance his foreign policy views from the previous two Bush presidents, saying, according to early excerpts, that while he admires his presidential family members, “I am my own man.”

“[M]y views are shaped by my own thinking and own experiences,” Bush will say as he lays out a vision that calls for increased military spending in order to project strength and encourage peace worldwide.

“Having a military that is equal to any threat is not only essential for the commander in chief … it also makes it less likely that we will need to put our men and women in uniform in harm’s way,” he will say. “Because I believe, fundamentally, that weakness invites war … and strength encourages peace.”

Yes, like all the peace the U.S. has unleashed upon the world since 9/11. Such as the creation of ISIS from the smoldering crater your brother left in Iraq.

The remarks come just days after Bush brushed aside questions about his view of President George W. Bush’s wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and as the Florida governor and presumptive GOP frontrunner works to define himself in the early days of the 2016 campaign.

Let’s take some of these characters one at a time…

Paul Wolfowitz – Wolfowitz, who served as Deputy Secretary of Defense in the George W. Bush administration, began advocating an attack on Iraq shortly after the Sep. 11 attacks, established “what amounted to a separate government” to push for war and invited journalists to secret meetings in order to lay out the foundation for his plans. Wolfowitz established the Office of Special Plans in the Pentagon that ignored the conclusions of the intelligence community and fed policy makers and the media discredited claims of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction.

Stephen Hadley – Then-Deputy National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley famously disregarded warnings from the CIA and then-FBI director George Tenet and included references to Iraq’s pursuit of uranium in Bush’s speeches, a claim that proved to be false. Hadley later apologized for leaving the now-infamous phrase in Bush’s 2003 State of the Union address and was promoted to become the president’s National Security Adviser.

Meghan O’Sullivan – Meghan O’Sullivan was as a top adviser to L. Paul Bremer — the U.S. viceroy in charge of the Coalition Provisional Authority that is blamed for mismanaging the occupation of Iraq immediately following the American invasion — and is credited with developing the security agreements and early transfer of sovereignty negotiations between the United States and Iraq. She also served as special assistant to George W. Bush from 2004 to 2007.

In 2003, for instance, Jeb Bush explained to Florida reporters that “in his heart, I know [George W. Bush] is doing what he thinks is right, and I concur with him.” Ten years later, he told an NBC reporter that “history will be kind to my brother [on Iraq] the further out you get from this and the more people compare his tenure to what’s going on now.” And in a joint CNN interview with George in 2010, Jeb said, “I have never disagreed with [George W. Bush]… ‘til death do us part.”

History is being written as we speak, and we can now see that the war in Iraq led directly to the creation of ISIS. Kind indeed.

This is all I have to say about that…

Yup, you will be shown Luciferian candidates A and B for your voting convenience, so flock to your booths and show your support.  They might even throw in some 3rd party wild card candidate that says stuff to make you think there is still some credibility to the scheme - makes it more interesting.

If they dare make the final election a run-off between Hillary and Jeb, I think the country is in incredible danger of a sudden onset of political instability.

c'mon..... it's pretty common in banana republics and other utterly corrupt countries for the ruling oligarchy families to take turns serving as 'El Presidente'....

of course they're really just figureheads - the real power stays safely in the shadows, out of the light - just in case some disgruntled peasant takes a shot at the 'ruler'....  of course it might also have something to do with undead bloodsuckers needing to avoid avoiding sunlight

Yes, a peasant. That is who it will be.

I do not believe either Jeb or Hillary will be president.  That is too obvious.  That is what the puppet masters want us to believe, fear and rattle online.  We are getting worked up the way they want us to do.

<<- just in case some disgruntled peasant takes a shot at the 'ruler'....  >>

That would make the perfect cover for the next selected president!  Put lipstick on the underdog!

Political instability is in the cards, regardless of Jeb, Hillary, some other dupes or some fool who thinks he can fix things.  Go on a campaign to get people to write me in, be successful, and I'd tell you, and the American people to fuck off.  There is no way I could fix this shit.

well... the GOOD thing for me is that it's unlikely I'll live through the next Prez's term.....    but if anyone thinks it really matters who gets 'elected' in 2016 they're deluded.... it doesn't matter when TPTB choose the candidates you get to choose from.

All that's left of the Republic is the ILLUSION of choice.  The reality of the Republic died some time ago and the succeeding Empire is  collapsing - it'll be over when there's nothing left to loot (and that day is approaching).

If the Hillary queen gets "elected" she will fill both of those requirements, as well as the ability to do nothing whatsoever for the good of this nation.

I wonder how many chest thumpers that screm for change and an end to dynastic political families will hold their nose and pull the Jeb lever if Rand Paul is riding in the sidecar.

I wonder if the latinos will do somersaults for a beaner just like the blacks did for Obama, and keep tumbling for them even if they sell them all out in broad daylight the way Barack has the negro underclass with lousy destructive policies..

Not arguing that point.  -Generally everyone not of the 1% has been cruelly screwed by Barack and Co...

I'm wondering if racial and ideological divisions are already insurmountable.  Look at Obama's approval rating with blacks: the guy couldn't lose the 'base' if he was caught sucking white cocks at a Klan meeting.

I'm wondering if the latinos will vote Goya just because it's got imported beans in it.

I'm wondering if women will fall in line for Hillary or Warren just because they think it will verify their 'equality'.

I'm wondering if the so-called conservatives will fall in line for an ideological bone as easily as did the ideological 'left'.

i'm wondering if voting could work.

..& I don't think voting actually matters.   I think the game is very well rigged and the decisions are made by a very small group of people well in advance.

I'd just like to hear other views on whether -IF the republican system is or if it was functioning- outcomes would be dictated by a winner-takes-all 'victory' for one or another of the entrenched radical divisions within the ideological and racial composition or by consensus building and moderation.  My guess is that 'mandate!' says it all: there are no consensus builders and can be no consensus built...

Again: not that I have any faith in voting or parties or the system as it is presently constituted at all...

Someone will win.  Probably Killery of Jeb.  It doesn't matter.  Voters will be allowed to cast votes on irrelevant crap like school prayer, etc.  But the only two policies that matter, perpetual war and wealth distribution, will not be a part of the debate, and regardless of who wins, those policies will remain the same.

I thought the Bush family was finished in national races after 8 years of unmitigated disaster that was GW Bush.  Endless wars, tax cuts that massively favored capital, 'free trade' policies that benefited a narrow few, creation of the domestic surveillance police state authority and agency, gross spending, and the passage of TARP.

Bush is going to win the GOP primary (racking up donations from Wall Street and getting the key folks in early primary states locked up) and prove yet again you can never underestimate the stupidity of the American public. I would have preferred even Romney get in but he knew it was futile to run against the Bush machine.  More impressive, well-funded, and expansive than even the Clinton one.

ANY candidate who hopes to be successful in America must meet two requriements:

1) domestically - demonstrate a subservience to big business

2) Internationally - demonstrate an absolute subservience to the interests of Israel before any other interest.

Doesn't matter which party.  ALL candidates must meet these criteria or face lack of exposure in Zionist-run media, lack of funds from Zionist-run financial interests, and outright opposition from all these.  A true man (woman) of the people will be marginalised, cooked in a media hate-feast, and possibly even assassinated.

the problem is one of focusing. Either once again there is a plethora of choices on different issues : more or less obamacare, gun law, abortion, same-sex marriage, ..., and it will be business as usual for the elite, as every voter will be compelled to make a vote based on these issues. Or for once someone focuses on just one single issue : for or against oligarchy. This would mean for a lot of voters to forget all the other issues and to focus only on this most important one for the democracy, for a liberal to agree with Ron Paul on oligarchy, for a Tea party-er to agree with Ralph Nader on oligarchy. I don't know whether this is possible, especially since Washington is itself focused on the divide-and-conquer strategy of polarization, but I see no alternative for US democracy.

May you live interesting times...

Now apply that some logic to your own country if you don't want to drown in Marine's version of "Back to Alesia" regressionary logic.

As that country too is currently heading to its own decadence under the aegis of a monolithic elitist executive run by an ENA caste who can't tell asset from debt like their european counterparts.

Oligarchy is now a western disease that is a throwback to feudal times; in that, it is a regression to the Dark Ages of Obscurantism revisited.

No wonder the world is now hooked on toxic fiat, like debased dinari of old,  and cooked on Daech crusader type zeal that lost the "Holy Land" to recurrent ethnic cleansing. The only thing holy is the number of holes the world punctures into the rubble of Aleppo or Baghdad.

Focus on ONE thing is a reductionist vision of a holistic conundrum that has OIL and $ incestuosity all tied up together, under MIC overkill and gun selling to anybody/everybody umbrella; all the while we rape the resources of the world to pollute our environment.

The root of current evil is an unholy alliance around the OIL/Gas PATCH, the mother lode of our global energy construct.

Energy and the irrepressible corruption of human aspirations for its monopoly control is PROBLEM # 1.

Pax Americana is, in its current form, the imperial conspiracy to maintain that status quo of western world's hegemony. Its Charles V's empire, its Napoleon on the march. It's now looking like going full tilt Caesar crossing the Rubicon, destroying the Republic.

And that game goes on and on. We see that only too well in the way the NSA and surrogate UK have pilfered the sacrosanctity of privacy via the massive SIM card manipulation dating back 20/30 years.

"Bring down that Stasi wall Mr Gorbatchev" now has a smell of something truly rotten like in the kingdom of Denmark.

Certainly energy is a (the?) prime motivating factor behind much of the world's problems, but it is not the root cause.  IMO the root cuae is structural - the 'democratic' system itself, which is not democratic at all but rather republicanism.  A republic system of government is a ruse made to appear 'democratic' but which in fact is quite oligarchic in nature.  Republics do not produce oligarchies - oligarchies produce republics.

You sound like a satelite circling the world. Keep circling and you'll get back to your initial point.

That structural thingie is not a problem but an expression of human nature embedded in "civilization".

The pendulum swings but Time's arrow under the impetus of the knowledge meme pushes us more and more towards individual freedoms; which then generates the balancing problem of "general" vs "individual" rights of freedom and the fight around this balance in society, something that is as recurrent as the four seasons.

Today, under the energy limitation asymptote that fight has now gone viral, as there is not enuff energy to allow individual freedoms to expand. The consumerist age of welfare state democracy -- for the first world deniers-- is over as it cannot be exported to the other world 'cos of lack of energy/RM; a PHYSICAL limitation : Too many individuals too little energy.

Something has to give. So we move to tipping times and Oligarchy chimes.

Oligarchies ALWAYS do things by breaking the PAST MOLD; something democracies cannot do. Our current financial, cum energy, cum MIC wars in asymmetric mode, is an expression of that; as Oppenheimer's toy makes the Oligarchy scared stiff.

We are there and its gonna be a rough ride as thats what Oligarchs are : rough riders.

Until we find a new energy horizon for new balance between individual and collective; to ensure an age of security which the world has manifestly LOST today.

That's how the pendulum swings. What we are all bitching about today is :  that INSPITE of the Enlightenment that created such hope in first world of a never ending progression, we stay medieval minded under the veneer!

First Europe imploded in last century. Now in this century its the PAx Americana global construct!

Sisyphus!

To qualify the neo-cons are progressives has to be as awesome a twist to english semantics-- matching the rhetoric of ex-Mayor Giuliani when he says "I love America like a true american"-- it takes my breath away.

How people can debase words and their meaning from their true purpose in public debate ! (its a humdinger doppelganger here at ZH).

To "love" one's nation like Hitler did; to love it like Cicero did; to love it like Soldier Ryan or like Joe Doe; to love it like Dreyfus or Jean Moulin; to love... how can love be defined by any of the above. Its as different as the soul of man. So how can a man use his "love" to disqualify others? Its sham like mouldy unsmoked ham.

To qualify a hegemonist war mongerer as progressive is an insult to History and societal norms. Period.

Victor Hugo was a progressive as was Jules Vernes. The only wars they believed in were ones about saving the country not invading that of others.

Well if you qualify Johnson, Nixon and GWB as "progressives"...

I can see your point!

Wilson and FDR only joined either at the end (Wilson) or after being attacked (FDR).

You'll have to go back to the civil war to find a "progressive" Lincoln make a fight on the basis of "principle"; no nation half slave half free; which also helped his constituancy of yankee industrialists eager to have federal markets.

I don't consider Truman or Ike as progressives during the Korean and Cold wars, but as traditional conservatives (not neo-cons, like LBJ et al).

The unCivil war was fought over states rights (sovereignty). Slavery was one of the many issues of the day but today it is politically correct to rank it as the foremost reason. Anyone that thinks 600,000 citizens would die over a few remaining slave owning plantations seriously needs to consider the stupidity of it. I will not argue it because the propaganda is so well emplaced that genuine discussion is impossible.

The states sovereignty issue however shows the South was correct in its assumptions. Today our Federal Managers control everything. The states have lost all their sovereignty and are now just map locations. Lincoln was a central power enthusiast and when asked  "Why not let the South go in peace?" Lincoln replied: "I can't let them go. Who would pay for the government?" As then the Souths exports of cotton were a major source of funding and was causing some unemployment problems in the North.

Well look around boys and girls. What a monster we have,,, called the u.s government. Now we're all slaves.

So, who won and even more appropriate,,, who lost?

Obama appointed the very same people who were directly responsible for the 2008 crisis to lead the way... wall street control (via revolving doors) of the government has been finally completed, that's what Obama can consider as "mission accomplished"... are the American people really not seeing that the elections mean absolutely nothing? Jeb Bush is in no way his own man.

Jeb Bush is a signer of the Statement of Principles of the Project for a New American Century which set out to engage in a hundred years war to establish

American global political and military supremacy.

The Iraq War begun under false premises such as that Al Qaeda was based in Iraq (it was not since Iraq was a secular state under Saddam) and the lie regarding

'weapons of mass destruction' by Jeb's brother's government were motivated and carried out by PNAC.

Other signers in the Neocon shadow government included,

Elliott Abrams, Gary Bauer, William J. Bennett, John Ellis "Jeb" Bush

Dick Cheney, Eliot A. Cohen, Midge Decter, Paula Dobriansky

Steve Forbes, Aaron Friedberg, Francis Fukuyama, Frank Gaffney

Fred C. Ikle, Donald Kagan, Zalmay Khalilzad, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby

Norman Podhoretz, J. Danforth Quayle, Peter W. Rodman

Stephen P. Rosen, Henry S. Rowen, Donald Rumsfeld, Vin Weber,

George Weigel, Paul Wolfowitz

to give you an idea of who you are signing on to even allowing Jeb Bush

to run for President.

Other ongoing projects set out by PNAC include destabilizing the Middle East and Mediterranean theater and destroying Russia and China as world super powers –

subjugating all of them in order to create rule by NeoCons of the world through the power of the United States.

PNAC and the PNAC website are long gone in efforts to cleanse the trail from Jeb Bush to acts of the previous George W. Bush regime which in many places

outside the united states has left G.W. Bush as no more than a war criminal.

One can find information on PNAC at wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_for_the_New_American_Century and here at

the Library of Congress archive http://www.loc.gov/item/lcwa00010308 .

Do not be fooled by the disinformation campaign going on. Jeb Bush represents interest that are not 'for the people by the people.'

Don't let the Neo-Cons andthe conservative run Republican Party continue to steal your government from you.

Liars deserve nothing but the infamy and punishments they bring upon themselves.

Even if you agree with some of the intentions of PNAC clearly co-opting Democracy to replace it with a shadow government which is basically a military

industrial fascist force using deception to undermine the Democracy of the United Statesis not the way to go about it.
