Fukushima: Playing With Nuclear Fire

Tyler Durden's picture

Three years after the Tohoku earthquake in Japan, citizens and the international community are left wondering if Japan really does have the situation in Fukushima under control... "TEPCO's own engineers are clueless... nobody knows how much [radiation] is washing into the ocean."

Three years and this shit is still oozing... I wish the so called environmental movements could stop their CO2 bullshit crusade and start looking at the REAL environmental issues, among which Fuck-U-shima is on the top right now. Also, they should start geting more conscious about what is put into human food (starting with what is put into livestock food, which is passed on to us).

But then  I guess nobody gives a shit about the Goyim anway. We -are- the cattle, and the tribe stays a long way from Nippon.

I have a friend at one of our nations nuke facilities out in the west of america..he says they have seen no incr in radiation that is high enough to cause immediate health issues on our pacific coast. they have very accurate monitors and it just ain't there. FWIW.

if he sees a threat he will let me know.

(i do not want to be too specific about where he is as  there be those who would like to know and they ain't our friends)

Import Alert #99-33 instructs FDA field personnel to detain shipments from Japan if the food is likely to contain radionuclide contamination. The FDA’s Import Alert #99-33 website contains a long list of seafood species from the Fukushima prefecture that the Japanese Prime Minister has ordered to be restricted from distribution into the export market, including:

Alaska Pollock, ayu, barfin flounder, black cow-tongue, black rockfish, braddblotched rockfish, brown hakeling, salmon (landlocked), common carp, conger eel, crucian carp, fat greenling, flathead, flathead flounder, fox jacopever, goldeye rockfish, gurnard, halfbeak, black porgy, dace, eel, sandlance, seabass, littlemouth flounder, long shanny, marbled flounder, nibe croaker, northern sea urchin, ocellate spot skate, olive flounder, pacific cod, panther puffer, poacher, red tongue sole, ridged-eye flounder, rockfish (sebastes cheni), sea raven, spotted halibut, slime flounder, spotted halibut, starspotted smooth-hound, starry flounder, stone flounder, surfperch, venus clam, whitespotted char. (FDA 2014)

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is monitoring levels of radiation in air and precipitation through its RadNet program (EPA 2013). Ocean monitoring of Fukushima radiation has received much less attention from U.S. government agencies. Neither the U.S. government nor the state of California has an ongoing testing program for Fukushima-derived radiation off of the California coast (California Coastal Commission 2014).

Your buddy has no idea what he is putting in his mouth or his children's mouth. Sure you won't die today unless you are foolish enough to walk near units 1,2 or 3 at Fuky. A bunch of shills are monitoring what's happening and it won't be for decades that people start dropping dead from causes that "could" be associated to radioactive poisoning.

Not one ship was ever able to be decontaminated during the decades of nuke testing, fitting the $6 Billion USS Reagan will be docked at Yokosuka Japan.

Dilution is no solution if you are high up the food chain.

Bioaccumulation undoes the dilution.

Given how high up the food chain humans are, this might be a problem.

The threat is far greater than most of you realize.

As ill and uninformed as most here think the US public about matters financial-  their ignorance of the Fukushima death star is at least equally threatening to their health.

Except at the above-cited http://enenews.com where you get daily-updated credible REAL NEWS, ugly as it is, on this MSM dumb and dumber topic. I dare anyone to spend 10 minutes over at http://enenews.com--and come away laughing (or craving some rad hamachi).

We aren't told the truth about Fukushima's exponential risk to life because obsessively venal, ouroboros-like mil-indus-nuke complex thugs control that slice of the crony capitalist pie.  They have lied through their teeth to American people since mid 1940's about the risks of all things nuclear-- and only concerned about bombs and bucks. And the gall put US taxpayers on the hook for when their malfeasance turns deadly.

But greed having surpassed science at Fuku, nobody knows how to cage the monster. So they just keep lying about it-- instead of trying to marshal the best brains of the world in a concentrated search for a solution.

Another example of how little Japan or US.gov actually cares about the health and welfare of their people.

6000% Increase in Cancer Rates at Fukushima Site

Global Research, February 06, 2015

As reports from individuals like Chieko Shiina, a supporter of the Fukushima Collaborateive Clinic talk about exploding rates of thyroid cancer in children, as well as an epidemic of leukemia, heart attacks, and other health problems, the Abe-led government and US continue to sweep the fall out of the Fukushima disaster under the rug.

Cancer rates have exploded at an increase of almost 6000% in areas near the reactor meltdown. Aside from people-on-the-street interviews that a rare media outlet like “Hodo station” will report on, mainstream media stays completely silent. One Japanese resident, Carol Hisasue, laments that as the incident has disappeared from the media, it has also disappeared from people’s consciousness.

So why does Fukushima continue to be a see no evil, hear no evil event?

Dilution does not work with radionuclides. One gram of cesium 137 has more atoms in it than all the grains of sand on all the beaches on this planet. A small particle of it will have trillions of atoms that will bombard your cells until cancer developes. Nasty, nasty shit. Fukushima could very well be the end of life on this planet.

Very good post Pine!  There was an article in 2013 about dying Pacific sea life (I believe it was titled "The Ocean is Broken" & was originally published in an Aussie paper) which received a day's fanfare even on the US evening broadcasts just to be forgotten within the next 24 hrs by the media.  Since then, there are weekly reports of mass die offs of one oceanic species or another, yet the scientists consulted by media continue to tow the party line that none of these are related to Fukushima.   I would not be surprised to find out that there is a huge under-reporting of thyroid related problems along the Pacific coasts of the US & Canada along with increases in cancer in the past 3 years due to the initial spread of airborne radiation one year prior.   Moreover, should cesium get into the food chain, loads of problems will ensue for a good deal of the population dependent on food supplied by 3d parties.   Best option for those in areas not in areas like the W. Coast would be to grow their own food and raise their own protein sources to avoid what most certainly will be a wave of early deaths due to people eating contaminated food.  Fukushima may not be the end of ALL life on the planet, but  a lot of people have contracted/will contract cancers  proximately caused by the disaster and a lot of those people will die earlier than they would have without cancer.

Yup. The reality is that the tragedy of FUKU will be with us for about two generations while the tragedy of runaway global warming would likely last orders of magnitude longer and affect >90% of all species on Earth. FUKU would barely register on the 6th mass extinction spiral.

Is there a comparison between the total amount of 137 ever released, mainly from atmospheric testing and Chernobyl, and what the total, either to date or expected, is from FUKU? I would expect to see that there is definitely a spike as a result of FUKU, and I don't doubt it's mega-nasty for those that suffer as a result of elevated exposure, but, with a half-life of thirty years and that apparently we can excrete it from the body through urine, I'm not seeing that it will result in the end of 7+ billion humans and "life on this planet".

Is FUKU going to belch THAT much more 137?

Sun, 02/22/2015 - 06:46 | 5814554 pine_marten
pine_marten's picture

It is not just the c137.  There is strontium 90, uranium and plutonium and hundreds of others.  300 tons of melted fuel that continues to fission.  Fuel pools that burned.  It is orders of magnitude worse than all the testing combined.  Because a clean device which used about 100 kilos of material converts most of that to heat in an instant whereas FD is a slow dirty burn that will last for centuries.  By now every single person in the Northern hemisphere has taken in these hot particles through food, water or breathing.  There are literally thousands of billions of leathal doses loose in the biosphere now.  Lastly, any comparison to "man made" climate change is disingenuous at best.

I just don't understand human beings.  Why do most of them actually support the domination and destruction of mankind by human predators just because they pretend to be some absurd fiction?  Makes no sense.

honestann's picture

No, it doesn't work for them... at least in the sense that they'd live a much happier, healthier life if these human predators did not dominate mankind.

Yes, domination is not destruction.  But you need to be extremely careful with these concepts.  You can't just yank them out of context and justify them wholesale.  For example, as an engineer and product developer, I absolutely want to "dominate" atoms, and make them conform to the configurations I choose.

However, you can't just take that observation, then say "hey, look, domination is good", because you've totally perverted the concept by pretending that "just because one implementation of domination is okay or good, therefore all implementations of domination are okay and good".  That's a complete perversion of the mental-units that are fundamental to the operations of any advanced consciousness (which humans pretend to be).

The terms "social" and "social beings" are great examples of UTTERLY corrupted concepts.  The fact is, "social" doesn't exist.  What does exist is more than one individual.  Just because you can find more than one physical object that looks similar (multiple rocks, trees, sheep or humans) does not create a new entity.

To be sure, there are more than one "rock" in the universe, more than one "tree" in the universe, more than one "sheep" in the universe, and more than one "human" in the universe.  But that means nothing.  100% of ALL actions are taken by individuals.  And just because (to choose an example) two humans can carry some heavy object that one cannot carry alone does not change the fact that 100% of ALL actions are taken by individuals.  If you doubt that, just see what happens when ONE individual drops his end of the box of nitroglycerine.

All this emphasis on "society" is nothing more than a sith mind trick to scam individual humans into allowing human predators take control of their lives.  Period.  If you want to accept being scammed in this way, you obviously can do so.  Nothing you can or will ever say can make my accept the con, or accept being dominated by others.  All it takes is one finger of one individual to pull the trigger, and that's what I will do if any other individual tries to tell me I must do this or that, or not do this or that, because "humans are social beings", and therefore now I must obey some human predator (yet another individual, even if he or she hides behind a bunch of fictional titles).

I am not a social animal.

Sun, 02/22/2015 - 04:59 | 5814455 honestann
honestann's picture

Oh, the predators are real, totally real.  As are their weapons and paid thugs.  What is an "absurd fiction" is "government" and "corporation".  Which is why they are, "officially" (in fundamental law) called "fictitious entities".

Which is why I say "predators-DBA-government" and "predators-DBA-corporation".

The predators are totally real.  But think about it.  When a pack of predators (all real) slaps a label with ink smeared into the shape of letters "USA" or "Haliburton" or "Monsanto" onto the pieces of paper they soil... no new entity popped into existence.  The predators are real, their weapons are real, the destruction they cause is real... and that's the problem.

What is not real is the pretend fiction called "government" or "corporation".  They are just made up vaporware and nothingness.  Only the predators exist.  Or if honest, ethical, productive, benevolent indivuduals slap a label on themselves (say, "Organic Goodies"), they too exist, but their fiction doesn't exist.  Only they do.

So what's the problem?  The problem is, humans are brainwashed to accept endless abuse from predators who hide behind a fiction label.  Crazy?  Yes.  Insane?  Yes.  But true.

I guess the bottom line is this.  The way humans are wired (have been brainwashed), if a pack of predators was even 1% as revolting and destructive as the predators who hide behind the fictitious labels "government" and "corporation", other humans would lock, load and blow them away.  But given the brainwashing, they have essentially free reign to destroy everything good.  Which, as you point out, is precisely what they're doing.

Next month will be 4 years since Fukushima disaster.

Quick recapitulation:

Two of four reactors suffered complete melt down, one partial meltdown and fourth which was not operational at that time still has big spent fuel problem which cannot be removed, posing threat of explosion if another disaster hits.

In four years what they accomplished was merely pouring water on cores of melted reactors and pumping it into hundreds of storage tanks build in the vicinity of NPP while having no clue what to do with it.

Because, guess what, the vessel containment of melted down reactors has failed, developing concrete cracks as well damage of pressure tubing during disaster and in aftermath. Through those fissures highly contaminated water’s pouring massively into ground water system. The fact of bridging containment vessel (prelude to China syndrome) alone leads to horrifying conclusions that the problem is unfixable at all short of currently impossible task of removing all melted nuclear fuel from vessel. The truth that anyone involved in mitigation of this disaster wouldn’t even utter.

On the top of it after four years TEPCO does not have good account of state of melted down reactors or complete list of damages, since supposedly world leading powerhouse robotics nation cannot produce one dammed good robot that would work in such extreme conditions. Several attempts to deploy robots have been proven complete failure.

It is shocking but they simply do not know what to do. They are in loss, confusion and panic.  There is neither plan, nor technology invented yet to tackle the problem. In desperation thousand retired workers indebted to Japanese mafia are being sent there into these reactors, for two minutes each, to senselessly die on orders of Japanese Oligarchs. It is that bad.

Since rate of process of removing radiation from highly contaminated water is many times lower that rate of pumping newly contaminated water into new, freshly built storage tanks, the whole effort is hopeless from engineering point of view. All this is just Sisyphus work, which lead to nowhere since they have to keep pumping water to cool and moderate fission material inside leaky damaged reactors so they will not blow up again.

Now many those tanks are also leaking profusely back to ground water adding to chaos. All the contaminated water leaked from reactor vessels and storage tanks ends up in the ocean continually bleeding radiation and all frantic attempts of preventive measures such as “ice wall” utterly failed.

Japanese MSM media, in 1984 style propaganda of changing past to control present, covers up gruesome reality of the Fukushima situation with its human implications, not to mention ignores severe problems with remaining 100 aging Japanese nuclear reactors put offline after 03/11/2011.

The official talk about Fukushima NPP decommission process planned for about four decades supposedly already started is a cruel fairy tale in context of utterly hopeless situation on the ground. The apparent inertia and indifference of the government, busy destroying Japanese economy with QE, cannot be explained in any other way than deliberated criminal, genocidal act against Japanese nation and world community unless you believe in fairy tales.

http://www.straitstimes.com/news/asia/east-asia/story/fresh-nuclear-leak...

TOKYO (AFP) - Sensors at the Fukushima nuclear plant have detected a fresh leak of highly radioactive water to the sea, the plant's operator announced Sunday, highlighting difficulties in decommissioning the crippled plant.

Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) said the sensors, which were rigged to a gutter that pours rain and ground water at the Fukushima Daiichi plant to a nearby bay, detected contamination levels up to 70 times greater than the already-high radioactive status seen at the plant campus.

TEPCO said its emergency inspections of tanks storing nuclear waste water did not find any additional abnormalities, but the firm said it shut the gutter to prevent radioactive water from going into the Pacific Ocean.

The higher-than-normal levels of contamination were detected at around 10 am (9 am Singapore time), with sensors showing radiation levels 50 to 70 times greater than usual, TEPCO said.

Though contamination levels have steadily fallen throughout the day, the same sensors were still showing contamination levels about 10 to 20 times more than usual, a company spokesman said.

It was not immediately clear what caused the original spike of the contamination and its gradual fall, he added.

"With emergency surveys of the plant and monitoring of other sensors, we have no reason to believe tanks storing radioactive waste water have leaked," he told AFP.

"We have shut the gutter (from pouring water to the bay). We are currently monitoring the sensors at the gutter and seeing the trend," he said.

The latest incident, one of several that have plagued the plant in recent months, reflects the difficulty in controlling and decommissioning the plant, which went through meltdowns and explosions after being battered by a giant tsunami in March 2011, sparking the world's worst nuclear disaster in a generation.

TEPCO has not been able to effectively deal with an increasing amount of contaminated water, used to cool the crippled reactors and molten fuels inside them and kept in large storage tanks on the plant's vast campus.

Adding to TEPCO's headaches has been the persistent flow of groundwater from nearby mountains travelling under the contaminated plant before washing to the Pacific Ocean.

The International Atomic Energy Agency recently said TEPCO has made "significant progress" in cleaning up the plant, but suggested that Japan should consider ways to discharge treated waste water into the sea as a relatively safer way to deal with the radioactive water crisis.

Regime change is coming to Japan.
