The Media Is "Run By A Tiny Group Of Politically Motivated Moguls", And "Controlled By The CIA"
While the US media is delighted to entertain the population with the latest diversionary "scandal" about what Rudy Giuliani may or may not have said about the president, to be replaced with another tabloid scandal in the next week and another the week after, things in the UK have suddenly become quite complicated as the entire facade of the media as one working on behalf of the "common man" and seeking to unearth the truth and publish "all the news that's fit to not anger one's advertisers" has come crashing down, in the aftermath of the Telegraph scandal which started last week when a "Political Commentator Quits Over HSBC Coverage, Accuses Telegraph Of "Fraud On Readers" followed by "Guardian Slams Telegraph Suggesting HSBC Coverage Was Biased Due To Owners' £250 MM Loan From Bank."
Which brings us to the following op-ed by the Guardian's Owen Jones. Ideological beliefs of the author aside, his observations excerpted below are a must read for anyone who still believes anything the mainstream media presents as "fact" or even merely insinuation, and why when receiving information from anyone, anywhere on any topic, total skepticism is the best and only appropriate response.

All of this is not hard to put into perspective. We are on a planet with 7 billion other people that is running out of resources. We have a MegaMoney group of a 100 more or less who control most of the assets on this planet who are desperately building governments to control the masses in any way possible. With so many people and too few resources MegaMoney’s current world order is socio-capitalism (socialism for the masses and capitalism for those with dreams) offers MegaMoney the best bang for the buck. Socio-capitalism has a capitalist who makes his money the socialist rip it from him to pay off the masses. The function of the press today is to continually spew out Socio-capitalism platitudes and manipulation to keep the machine oiled.
MegaMoney has long ago moved much of its control of resources to small neutral governments to avoid as much of the socio-capitalism taxation as possible (I worked on this directly in a big bank before I retired).

TPTB (0.01%) know that the clock is ticking. Current income disparity in the US is now about double that which was present at the outset of the French Revolution; ergo - they are living on borrowed time. The reason that the populace has not demanded a rebalancing is simple - "Bread and Circuses". Keep everyone fed and keep them entertained, along with a healthy dose of "the grass is NOT greener on the other side". And how do you manage the entertainment balanced with fright - you reach to the two areas in which the USA truly is exceptional - Madison Avenue (marketing) and Hollywood (entertaining). In fact - both of these venues share a common root that is - Fantasy. We are exceptional in one area only - Fantasy. And to perpetuate our systemic strength, we need a gullible audience - and for that we need an educational system that strives to impart obedience as an antidote to critical thinking, and management of information - read mass media - to insure that the "dumbing down" vaccine given to all children through their schooling retains potency throughout their adult life. Think of the mass media as a continuous "booster shot". All of this costs a lot of money, but when you control the only international financial system out there (the only true monopoly in the "free enterprise" world), then you can print your way to owning anything, and eventually everything - as long as you keep the masses fed and entertained.
Unfortunately for the top 100th of the top percentile, the their monopoly on the financial system is slowly coming to an end, as the BRICS are, almost daily, increasing the potency of a competitive financial system - and this one is based on natural resources and generated revenue, as opposed to perpetuating debt. And when these systems finally go head to head, the western oligarchs may well find that their 500 year run has come to an end.
