An Egyptian student living in Milan, who walked around the city for five hours dressed as an imam, has released a video showing how he was insulted along the way. Dressed in an imam’s robe and carrying a copy of the Koran, Hamdy Mahisen made the video below, published by La Repubblica, as part of a social experiment to see how tolerant people in Milan are of Muslims. Along the way, he attracted odd stares and insults such as "Taliban shit!". One onlooker said, "Shit, have you seen the Isis?" while another remarked, "Imagine if he has a gun under his tunic".

Let's make some distinctions which is generally unpopular today. What the fake Imam is wearing means something to a lot of people. You cannot go hardly a single day without reading, seeing or hearing about another Muslim atrocity. So, you wear the same things they do and people will react.

The irony is that most Westerners are extremely tolerant of other peoples and their differences but for only as long as they do not seek to impose their intolerances or force their values upon us. Unfortunately, this western tolerance is fundamentally at odds with the intolerance inherent in Islam.
