We noted in 2012 that Americans are the most spied upon people in world history.
Top NSA officials previously said that we’ve got a “police state” … like J. Edgar Hoover – or the Stasi – on “super steroids”.
Spying by the NSA is also worse than in Nazi German:
The tyrants in Nazi Germany, Stalinist Russia and Stasi Eastern Europe would have liked to easedrop on every communication and every transaction of every citizen. But in the world before the internet, smart phones, electronic medical records and digital credit card transactions, much of what happened behind closed doors remained private.
Indeed, a former lieutenant colonel for the East German Stasi said the NSA’s spy capabilities would have been “a dream come true” for the Stasi.
NSA contractor Edward Snowden said in 2013 that NSA spying was worse than in Orwell’s book 1984. (See update below).
We noted at the time that the NSA is spying on us through our computers, phones, cars, buses, streetlights, at airports and on the street, via mobile scanners and drones, through our smart meters, and in many other ways.
And we learned that same year that the NSA is laughing at all of us for carrying powerful spying devices around in our pockets. And see this.
A security expert said the same year:
We have to assume that the NSA has EVERYONE who uses electronic communications under CONSTANT surveillance.
What’s happened since these statements were made? Spying has only gotten worse. The government is doing everything it can to completely destroy privacy.
Postscript: Nothing has changed … and it will keep on getting worse and worse unless we the people stand up for our rights against those who want to take our freedom away.
Update: Bill Binney is the high-level NSA executive who created the agency’s mass surveillance program for digital information. A 32-year NSA veteran widely regarded as a “legend” within the agency, Binney was the senior technical director within the agency and managed thousands of NSA employees.

While the spying programs that we have heard about so far deal with the “who and what” and on occasion the “why” of what people on the planet are doing, Treasuremap is the NSA/GCHQ/etc. program to acquire and follow the movements of people (objective is to follow 4 billion folks) simultaneously in near real time. So, Treasuremap gives them the “when and where” aspects of individual lives.
All in all, this gives the participating governments (primarily the Five Eyes countries) unrestricted knowledge of individual lives.
Current surveillance is far beyond an Orwellian state.
Although on a much smaller scale, we need to remember that these type of activities were some of the primary “articles of impeachment” of president Nixon.

No. When I say I'm a "truther" it means I'm interested in and pursuing the truth, where ever the evidence leads. That people say they're "Christians" and then act anything but, is well documented.

That 9/11 was a constructed event that required inside help, that the official narrative is false, requires deeper reading and study. Incompetence or cynical exploitation of a crisis do not fully explain the event. The towers and bldg 7 were demolished, they did not fail (total decimation) due to fires nor fires plus plane impacts. The anthrax attack was integrally related to 9/11 as documented in Graeme MacQueen's new book The Anthrax Deception though the FBI tried to blame a "lone nut". And so on.
If you choose not to study it further that's your choice.
You've got to know your audience and know to how many decimal points they're willing to hear you calculate the value of pi. 3.14 is plenty for most folks and it is the truth.

9/11 is/was a very effective "shock and awe" event. I'm of the opinion that the revelation of 9/11 as I've described -- an inside, devious and constructed event -- is the "reverse shock and awe" needed to break the spell. But I see your point as a practical matter.
I see your point as well. But having gotten nowhere with the JFK thing for decades I doubt the value of the reverse shock and awe. If nothing else people are adverse to being shocked and awed. I just prod them gently as my goal is not to foment some movement to end tyranny today but simply to open people's minds to the possibility that we won't want a new boss if and when the old boss runs the current system into the ground.
I have taken an agnostic position on the causal reality of 9/11. That is - even if you have overwhelming evidence - it's just not going to matter. There will be no "reverse shock and awe". Metaphysical reality (i.e. the actual underlying cause) of 9/11 is unimportant to the epistemology of the event (what people believe). Think about - "WMDs" were proven to be a lie and if you look at the numbers something like 40% of people still believed it after the fact was revealed. Even more frightening, the 60% didn't give a noticeable shit. Yes - 9/11 was perp'd by the US gov't most likely. Even if that was handed to us on a platter - we're still working within the narrative created after 9/11. There is no undoing that. This is why I have never been into proselytizing about that event. However, it is what woke me up back in 2003 or so after I witnessed 9/11 with my own eyes sitting on my fire escape in NYC.

Good Point! That is also why I read all of GW's articles, even though I question him using himself as a source. I think it all comes down to what the reader believes. If GW if giving info that supports your beliefs, you will think he is great. If his articles are contrary to your beliefs, he is wrong. I am in the middle, I like some and dislike some. This article, though it has the ring of a conspiracy, is backed by years of exposure that the NSA has yet to deny. Therefore, to me, it is more likely, not a conspiracy, but a fact.

I don't operate that way. My goal is to be correct as often as possible. Therefore I listen to rational opposition and if it is compelling I admit my error. That way I can be correct the next time the subject comes up.

The NSA (& CIA)... but I'll leave that for another day) appears to be untouchable. Politicians melt before them. NO credible, sustained policy appears able to reign them in. Who the hell has that much political clout such that NO politician, judge, bureaucrat or regulator can touch them? They break international laws with impunity and remain untouchable.
It doesn't even limit itself to the U.S. The NSA appears to have working relationships with the UK, Canada, Germany (yes, even after the spying on Merkel), NZ, OZ and France. Again .... who the hell has that much clout such that they can invade any part of the world and get the local spy agencies to go along?

Recently I was investigating NSA proof PCs. Oh, that's tough. Where to even begin to explain how hosed everyone is. Let's just say that the PC hardware, Hard Drive makers, and likely OS providers are thoroughly compromised.
That could very well stem to browsers, keyboard manufactures, mouses, video equipment, routers, firewalls and .... well everything. Intel might just as well change their logo to ..."NSA inside".
Put yourself in the NSA's shoes for a moment. Instead of relying on users downloading your malware ...it's so much more elegant to own them outright from the moment they turn on a new piece of equipment. Yes, I mean embed the spying malware in the hardware.
I'm still trying to come to grips with this. There might not be an escape. What's especially galling about this is that the U.S. government is using your tax dollars (or borrowing in YOUR name) to pay for these activities.
Perhaps the only solution is just to go dark and forgo the Internet and cell phone networks. Yes, it's that bad.

@Cherry You are more or less correct. I realized the extent of our problem when I studied law at an Ivy. I got to see the future fuckwits of the world and how they think and process. First of all, no one here should assume that those lawyers running shit are at all intelligent. They are, more or less, a class of self-interested bots that are directed on their course with selfish rewards by TPTB. This is as Plato described it in his Republic. These guys aren't the ones who whisper in the ears of the leaders (i.e. "philosopher kings" a.k.a. "NWO"), but rather their functionaries who are faithful only through their selfishness. And yes, I'm pointing out that Plato had a bit of an evil plan for society [if you know the roots of Straussianism, then you know the roots of one sect of the AAZ empire].
In any case, there are some lawyers that know the truth, but I suspect you would be able to tell who they are when you talk to them. I'm not trying to excuse the class of lawyers by saying I'm good and some are good - and that you should be fair to them. No. A lawyer at the bottom of the ocean is still probably a good start.

I have never doubted that there are an abundance of creative alternatives. What I doubt is the real ability to develop the most important of those, which are alternative death controls. NONE of the things that video discusses are actually possible without better development of integrated evolutionary ecologies of the human, industrial and natural world, which necessarily means that the death controls are central to everything else.
That video relies upon the facts that, so far, somewhat, women with more education, and access to technology, have opted to practice more "birth control." However that euphemistical, backward, language FAILS to comprehend that was actually a manifestation of real death controls. Most of the wonderful statistics of progress in that video can be traced back to the development of fossil fuel use, whose downsides were being deliberately ignored, while those were developed, and whose finite supply was never accounted for properly either. Within the established systems, all of the wonderful progress was based on turning natural resources into garbage and pollution as fast as possible, through fundamentally fraudulent accounting systems that justified doing that. There was barely any better industrial ecology developed, or even discussed, while that would be absolutely necessary for any of the creative alternative technologies to actually work, (which would take different debt controls, backed by different death controls to make that work in the longer term!)
Theoretically, there is surely a potential abundance of energy, and an even greater abundance of information. However, I emphasize that NONE of that can actually be developed without some integrated evolutionary ecologies, which have their death controls as central to all the other controls.
I will admit that I guess I sort of envy those kinds of guys, who can focus on the positive, while they deliberately ignore the negative. Indeed, I appreciate how our entire culture is more or less based on totally doing that, to the maximum possible degree. After all, people who do not protest how criminally insane the established monetary system has become, but rather focus on making money inside of that system, tend to personally do way better. Those who focus on making money within the established systems tend to have more successful careers than those who focus on how that monetary system itself is based on ENFORCED FRAUDS, while groups like the NSA are actually primarily concerned with protecting that system.
At present, we have the PROBLEM that the already existing death controls are based on the maximum possible deceits, while that sustains financial systems based on the maximum possible frauds. Therefore, while I overall agree with the exponential growth of creative alternatives, there continues to be almost totally dismal failure to develop better combined money/murder systems, which are debt controls backed by death controls. Instead, we are rushing, faster and faster, towards most of the awesome technology being applied in the worst possible ways, such as exhibited by NSA primarily protecting the banksters' frauds. Therefore, I believe that there are surely plenty of creative alternatives, BUT, without alternative death controls as the keystone of those systems of alternatives, as the lynch pin to hold all the other possible components together, then we are still headed towards collapsing into chaos, as the established ENFORCED FRAUDS promote bigger frauds, such as NSA serving psychotic "national security" interests, wherein the worse "terrorists" are the people that control the people that control the government of the USA!
I doubt there is a real ability to politically develop alternative death controls either. The mere suggestion of halting the increasing debts by implementing better death controls is too tortuous for most people to allow themselves to begin to try and comprehend. Having children and having wars is so ingrained that virtually nobody can conceive of not continuing to have children. Family values and all that.
I've been thinking about this a lot in the last couple of months since a commenter here named PT mentioned that if one was supporting action on global warming then one should also support a one child policy. That reminded me of the movie Children Of Men and my reply to PT was that one way or another global society will have a zero child policy given the path we are on, and that even if We adopted a zero-child policy tomorrow morning, We would still have huge problems on our hands. That is well depicted in the movie where no children have been born for 18 years yet the masses are have become essentially nothing more than a disposal problem becuase with no children to care for the elderly, one either ends up becoming member of the Elite, a collector of state benefits working to dispose of the human garbage, or one is the human garbage.
That comment and that movie got me thinking about China's one-child policy. I remember when I first heard about that policy how I thought it was horrible and cruel. But the political stucture at the time made enforcing that policy possible. I guess it wasn't exactly fun for the decision makers but they looked at the math and realized that if something wasn't done the future of their country would hit hard limits and the tradgedy that would unfold from that was way way worse. I wonder what China would look like today if they hadn't adopted the one-child policy.
In the West the political tool wasn't readily available so the results were perhaps less spectacular in hard numbers but with the use of technology to control birth and engineering the feminist movement to discourage large families, there was a decrease in the number of children per woman. Problem is the debts incurred by each child grew.
Anyway, the paradox I see is that our Neolithic ways of legalized lies backed by violence would have to undergo a phase of becoming legalized truths backed up by legalized violence if we were going to attempt to avoid the crazy collapse into chaos. The radical truth as I'm coming to realize is that global society would have to literally adopt a zero-child policy today until such time as a one-child policy could take over. This type of death control is better but it obviously would have to be backed up by force which would require it to be a universal law where abortion would become mandatory in the event of conception.
The zero-child policy would obviously be relatively short-lived (excuse the pun!). It would not be necessary had we be more pro-active 2 or 3 decades ago but it would help jump start the move towards the Translithic Society. It would need to be in force for at least 5 years and maybe a maximum of ten years. It would need to have the buy-in of global society so there needs to be assurance that those who were precluded from having children would be compensated so they would die with dignity. Perhaps the policy would be made democratic but using a type of global lottery to decide who is allowed to have children and who isn't.
Nothing that I can think of would bring a stop to the increasing debt faster than a zero-child policy. A one-child policy would only slow the rate of increase and presumably pass into debt decrease at some point. Nothing would "burn it down" faster than a zero-child policy. So the debts are controlled by the lack of births. Of course all of this is politically impossible today but it's theoretically better death controls. People could live decent lives and the human family could continue leaving the gang mentality behind.
And for those who reel at government policy, imagine the feminist movement spreading throughout global society where women universally outright refused to have children...
Of course this flies in the face of everything we were brought up to believe. It's tortuous for me to wrap my brain around it. "I" have two children. But looking ahead to the 22nd century, it's not inconceivable, however, that as industrial civilization collapses, that it will get to the point where people simply become terrified of having children and the zero-child policy will be adopted organically.

What actually happens will be due to the conservation of energy continuing. Human beings never violate that, they only appear to. My view is that the universe is already perfect, in the sense that we already participate in the flow of energy conserving itself. The more there are non-linear functions through which energy is conserved, then the more life and consciousness.
Since I believe that ENERGY IS SPIRIT, pretty well everything that old-fashioned moralities promoted can be seen as manifestation of THAT, including that energy will flow along its path of least action, or least resistance, which is the human path of least morality. Organizing resistance, to change the path of least resistance, is possible. That is basically the structure of life, from photosynthesis to respiration, channeling the sunlight through steam, smoke and sugar, to bounce back out into space at a lower frequency, after going through the cycles of life, including human beings.
Human cultures are emerging as evolutionary ecologies, where the main messages & media are the memes in neural networks, rather than the genes in the DNA. That cultural evolutionary ecology has been way faster, and way more self-driven. Ideally, we could understand human artificial selection better, to self-select more for the emergence of better integrated memes, in an overall better integrated artificial selection, which better understood its role in the overall infinitely bigger natural selection processes.
Theoretically, the most efficient and effect death controls are those which are euphemistically called "birth controls." However, those tend to NOT be properly placed inside their real context, which is as forms of warfare. At the present time, the overall averages of rates of reproduction are very misleading. When one looks closer, one sees that there are still some cultural groups reproducing at exponential rates, while other are reproducing at less that replacement rates. To over-simply, the rich are committing suicide, while the poor are declaring war upon the rich, while the richest of the rich are preparing to mass murder almost everyone.
Unless more radical truth allowed "birth controls" to be perceived as actually being forms of death controls, which should be understood with the overall military context, then we collectively can still not negotiate better artificial selection parameters. Therefore, we are still stuck in the serious and deepening ruts of overshoot in a nutshell: exponential growth based on being able to strip-mine the planet, rapidly reaching the point where that collapses into chaos and mass murders. Attempts to mitigate that, or prevent it from becoming as bad as it otherwise could be appear worthwhile, but a lot of those end up being biological equivalents of the Jevon's Paradox.

As you stated, MEAN BUSINESS, there are no practical political ways to prevent the established systems (especially since there is almost nothing publicly significant to resist them that is not controlled opposition), from continuing to do more and more of what they were set up to do, faster and faster ... Human evolution has become increasingly paradoxical due to the degree that people have become more self-conscious about that, which tends towards discovering that there have developed almost infinite tunnels of deceits which control what civilization actually does.
Most of our recommendations are based on appreciating the degree to which there ARE systems of artificial selection, which theoretically could be improved. However, IN PRACTICE, entities like NSA are parts of a fascist secret police force, which is working to protect and maintain the established systems of a runaway fascist plutocracy juggernaut. IN THEORY, both that fascist plutocracy and its fascist police could be retooled to work towards different goals than to enable the social pyramid systems to have the pyramidion people get even more spectacularly wealthy. Ideally, that could be by perceiving that the social pyramids are actually toroidal vortices. The bottom and top of society is already connected. However, those connections tend to be deliberately ignored and denied, because of the history of successful death controls done through the maximum possible deceits, to back up debt controls done through the maximum possible frauds, AS SYSTEMS OF LEGALIZED VIOLENCE BACKING UP LEGALIZED LIES.
To some degree it will become possible to perceive more radical truths, which would enable the legalized violence to back up policies which were more based upon legalized truths, rather than legalized lies, at least relatively speaking. Theoretically, the kinds of spying that NSA is doing could be done for different purposes, which made more sense in the longer term. The hidden nature of human ecology, and inside that the political economy, could become more widely understood, and therefore, greater use of information enable higher consciousness about that, so that the overall artificial selection systems, with their death controls at their core, would be done better, and especially done better because they were less dishonest about themselves, and so, operated with less evil deliberate ignorance towards the bigger picture of the environment in which natural selection always operated.
The history of human civilizations being dominated by the biggest bullies, and their bullshit, has inverted and perverted our understanding of almost everything! One of the most abstract ways that manifested was that the meaning of the concept of entropy was inverted by the entropy equations in thermodynamics and information theory having an arbitrary minus sign inserted, so that the measurements of power and information would end up being expressed as relative positive values, rather than as relative negative values, which the mathematical physics itself discovered, and should have demonstrated, but for the ways that the history of the philosophy of science was dominated by the biggest bullies' bullshit world view, the same as all other social enterprises were.

Post-modernizing science can be better synthesized with ancient mysticism if one perceives that ENERGY IS SPIRIT, while entropy is the apparent distribution of that energy in time and space (and presumably other dimensions.) We understand all general energy systems, and especially human civilizations, in the most backward ways possible.
It has been quite the paradoxical process whereby human intelligence was the internationalization of natural selection, which then developed forms of artificial selection through warfare, wherein social successes were based on deceits and frauds. Theoretically, we need a quantum leap in the human consciousness about all of that. However, in practice, what will happen will continue to be the conservation of energy through systems which follow their own paths of least morality, wherein organizing better resistance to change those paths will continue being extremely problematic.

Moving away from extreme dishonesty towards greater degrees of truth is a transitional period that still would require lots and lots of violence. A retooled NSA would, for example, discover the pregnancy and move to destroy it. Sounds counter-intuitive and cruel, but the dissemination of the information that the pregnancies will be sought out and destroyed would increase overall consciousness that death controls must exist, and that "murdering" the unborn is a better death control than mass murdering our sons and daughters. I guess the irony is that mass murder murders every one of the unborn anyway. It seems logical to expect that as the amount of dishonesty decreased, the amount of legalized violence needed to operate the death controls would also decrease. Better information would leave people to take responsibility for operating their own death controls instead of passing the dirty work off to gangsters and pretending to take the moral high ground.
I wonder what the pope would say about this! I remember reading a long time ago someone that said humanity would be better off putting the bible back on the shelf for a while so we can tackle the environment problems. I guess it's been crazy making days over there in Vatican City.

That said. The trick to get us all out of this trap maybe a simple change in thought patterns. TPTB enjoy all the friuts of labor. Then use them against us. They trained everyone to go to work for them. Thats where all the best $ is. That so needs to be withdrawn en mass creating the stall. They only need a rather small number of people working for this system to keep working. The mic,energy,food,$, and transportation. As long as those monopolies all stand they stay in control.
The global stall would grind all of these monopolies down very fast. All the monopolies depend on each other. What we need is to take control and monopolize control of our labors production and use. Set aside all our pettyness and focus on things that truly matter.

The new narrative should be "Americans are well aware of the gross criminality of its government but they also now realize that they are powerless to do anything about it." Americans realize that CONgress, SCOTUS, and the EXECUTIONER-class live in a completely different world than the rest of us. benb, spot on. For most it is something between, "I have nothing to hide" and "it has always been like that". Few of these sheeple have an idea just how pervasive, evil, omnipresent, un-abolishable, powerful, cynical these bastards are.
As a start, I recommend watching "Citizen four". Although I knew the stuff already from a technical point of view, it was nevertheless very instructive to see what it means realiter when a tangible person comes into contact with this empire of darkness. As an example, the "selector" facility the NSA disposes of allows them to watch everything electronical that has anythng to do with you online in real-time when THEY chose to do so. It is ABSOLUTELY SCARY, DEPRESSING STUFF.
So how does this get resolved? Burn down the system? Great idea too bad it would not work. The E German system is still around now. It outlasted the E German gov.
Any real reforms need to start with accountability. Burning down the data base would be a free pass on all the evil stuff they have already done. The only record of thier actions is that data base. The issue is the tool is being used for evil. It is a powerful tool and it aint going away.
I get this is not a popular view. But long term it is the best way to deal with it. There is no better tool to clean out the rampent corruption. The truth is a very powerful thing in the right hands.
