Nasdaq Closes Green For Two Weeks In A Row: AAPL Grows By $100 Billion In February

Tyler Durden's picture

The "Institutions" comments to Greece's first draft reforms plan... which appeared to stumble stocks today...

The NASDAQ win streak accelerates to 9 days (2 calendar weeks in a row)... (but The Dow and S&P closed red)

AAPL's Relative Strength Indicator (RSI) just topped 85 - a level that in the past has marked a trend change...

But overall, stocks are holding their "Greece is fixed" gains... with the most totally fucking idiotic meltup at the close...

Nigeria's hopeful comment on an Emergency OPEC meeting spiked oil, which in turn ramped a decent short squeeze in stocks - which took a while to revert when OPEC denied any such talk...

Treasuries rallied from the middle of the Europe session as uncertainty over Greece came back to mind...

EUR weakness provided the impetus for USD strength today but Swissy was once again the biggest loser...

Hhmm...

Oil was the only major loser in commodity land - despite the USD strength - with copper and gold unch and silver leading (having spiked notably early on as Crude dumped)...

Close up on the OPEC pump and dump...

Crude appears to be rolling over again...

And we note that the Front-to-2nd month contango has reached 4 year highs...

Charts: Bloomberg

Bonus Chart: The only chart you need... up 15 of the last 18 days... it's AAPL bitches!

Bonus Bo

Bonus Bonus Chart: Just thinking out loud... weakness into earnings... big new product launch expectations looming... near vertical rally with everyone in the world bullish?

Bonus Bonus Bonus Chart: VIX Term Structure is the steepest since just before the pre-Bullard collapse in October...

Can’t recall an odder trading environment.  The past few weeks most intraday technicals, as well as bellwether currency carries, have be completely overrun by volatility slams that start with a 10:10 anvil drop, then a slow garden hose soaker through to the close.  It’s as if the mere potential of a positive “Greece” or “yellen” headline is greater than opportunity cost of selling even 5% of positions at/near  ‘all time highs.”

back of the envolope math:

if 6 billion people have an extra 25 joobux to spend, thanks to QE - let's say apple gets half of that discretionary spending- (very conservative IMO)

- then it would be worth another 75 billion, so my new price target is $146.3 = 855 billion...

RE

You're watching it.  Did you think it would look normal?

Correct.

This is why you kept hearing, "We will end up like Greece!" by politicians like Mitt Romney in discussing the national debt and the chance of another economic collapse....but NOT, "We will end up like Japan!".

Wanna know why?

Because we will end up like Japan.

Japan has been in recession for over 20+ years.  Declining wages, infastructure, exports, rising costs of rent/social services. Shit we are experiencing now in the United States. BUT the Nikkei hits all time highs, so it's all good according to Krugman and his buddies (it is, after all, their system).

The thing is: we can't tell our people we are going to be in an economic recession for 20 years.  Because then the people might actually be smart enough to burn this motherfucka down.

We are all giddy at the prospect of markets finally tanking and coming back to reality.  But the reality is: the central planners and CBs around the world will ENSURE that this will never happen because, if it did: the people might get the idea that this whole thing is a huge ponzi scam.

There will be a period of great suffering and crisis. It has already begun. Bonds will be torn, people will turn on each other. We can indulge our fear, and the world will sink into darkness. Or we can indulge our hummanity, and emerge stronger than we have ever been. It is the duty of everyone here to lead others into the light. We took the red pill, now we must use that knowledge.

RE

Any major stock market crash would result in a breakdown of the society.

Really goes to show what dumb hairless apes humans are.

Society is already crumbling around it, albeit as a snail's pace (how the CBs like it).......but as long as THAT NUMBER is up......shit's gravy!  Time to buy a house, a car, new televisions.....all with MOAR borrowed money!

We sacrifice so much, just to push those numbers up.....most of us don't even see the gains....all of the productivity during the stock boom we have witnessed over the last 20+ years....most of those gains end up in the hands of a tiny few, while those at the bottom are to be grateful just to have what we have.

All for a stupid set of numbers, which all mean nothing.  Zero.

Mon, 02/23/2015 - 18:04 | 5819916 kurzdump
kurzdump's picture

The numbers of 'hairless apes' will be counted in 1000s by the end of the century.

Once the system breaks down, there will be 7 billion people (zombies) straying, eating up everything edible. There wont be any cattles, no tin cans, no granaries left out. Those who were not killed in the first few months will start cannibalizing. Nuclear power plants will go bust all over the world, great fires in every major city. Winter will be a hard time.

As the spring comes, no seeds will be left, no oxes or horses to help tilling the fields.

Pray for a devastating plague - that's the only hope for mankind.

"...they have 1 fucking product, and they have become totally non innovative."

What are you talking about?

Do you remember that they CREATED these markets?

iTunes....iPod.....AppleTV.....iPhone.....iPad.....Apps......an upcoming iWatch....and now possibly an electric car?

Not to mention all the iterations of the iMac and MacPro and OSx over the years.

ANY company would give their left nut to have had ONE of these innovations on their resume.

I believe they have created what is called "Brand Loyalty" which is what every company in the world strives to do.
Do you call Harley riders 'sheeple' because they buy/ride only Harleys? What about those 'Sheeple' who prefer to drive Mercedes rather than a Chevy?

Cheaper ain't always better.

ps: in a world where AliBaba has a market cap of $228B......I would say that AAPL is under priced at ONLY $750B.

there main revenue driver is the iphone, and when i mentioned how non innovative they have become, yes, they r basically selling the same iphones that they have been selling for years with no new upgrades.

the only difference between the phones r the numbers next to it, for exampl,e i phone 4, 5, 6, but the reality is, these phones r practically all the same, but the stupid sheeple keep buying this communist companies products.

aapl needs to be audited, just like the fed.

I think Apple has accomplished what few companies have, and that is brainwashing a continually enlarging pool of zombie loyalists.  I had a company purchased iPhone and dumped it for a Windows phone and have been happy ever since.  I hated the iPhone for two reasons; First, the locked in feel of the OS.  Second and more importantly, the outright blatant obsolescence of older phones when newer models come out by crippling older devices on the newest OS.  I do not understand how anyone puts up with this.  To go to a store, buy a nice new phone that performs well, and then have it turn into a slow, muddling piece of shit a year later when you install the next gen OS just puts my blood pressure into orbit.

The thing I love the most about Apple sheepeople are how angry they get when you point out their shit is equal to inferior in speed, size, space etc. Its as if you're raping their dog while slapping their mother. Its insane!! I've always found it strange that people act as if they discovered Apple, since my technological leanings never made me buy a certain brand name. Samsung, LG, Motorola, Sony, whatever was best at the time that cost me $50 or less.
