Caught On Tape: Florida Parents Treated Like Children For Questioning School Curriculum

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Mike Krieger via Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

David Bolduc, a resident of Naples, Florida recently sent us a note highlighting a video in which he, and several other concerned parents, were reprimanded and treated like little children in a School Board Workshop as a result of them expressing concerns about school curriculum.

In order to give you some background on the issue, see the Letter to the Editor he wrote to the Naples Daily News on 1/28 to say what he was prevented from saying at the 1/20 School Board Workshop. Letter reprinted below:

Patton the cause

The controversy behind the recent parents’ review of school textbooks lays squarely at the feet of Superintendent Kamela Patton.

Specifically, Collier County School Board Policy 2240 reads, “Furthermore, the Superintendent shall prepare administrative procedures detailing the manner in which students and parents will be adequately informed, each year, regarding their right to inspect instructional materials, and the procedure for completing such an inspection.”

By failing to prepare procedures to implement Board Policy 2240, Patton created the perception the textbook review was a nighttime Watergate-style break-in masterminded by conservative political operative and School Board member G. Gordon Lichter.

I examined seventh-grade “Civics in Practice” and it contained numerous factual inaccuracies. For example, on Page 100 it states, “The Constitution can be changed in two ways; formally by Amendment, and informally by Government.” This notion of dictatorship is enhanced by eighth-grade textbook “United States History,” which states on Page 185, “The President issues Executive Orders. These commands have the power of law.”

While some called us book-burning Nazis, Page 274 of “Civics in Practice” states, “Citizens must be alert to propaganda” and glittering generalities is a “type of propaganda which often uses words such as freedom and patriotism.” This world government indoctrination is augmented on Page 425, where a geographical map of North America eliminates the United States, and places our great nation in nine new “cultural nations.”

For pointing this out, one public speaker at the School Board textbook workshop called us “narrow-minded, racist Bible-thumpers.”

Thank you, Superintendent Patton.

David has assured me that there is absolutely zero racist or religious angle to any of his concerns, and that this is being shamelessly injected into the argument due to an inability to debate the actual concerns.

Without further ado, take a look at how contemptuously and dismissively these parents’ concerns are dealt with at the Collier Country School Board Workshop...

*As a disclaimer, we are not well versed in the intricacies of this debate, nor have we personally reviewed Collier County school materials. We welcome and encourage open debate in the comment section.

It's pretty fucking simple. Public schools are socialist education camps. That's the nature of putting 30 children together with one adult for 7 hours a day, who does nothing but read from a book without question, which was approved by a bureaucrat who hates parents. It's not fucking rocket science, but to understand, you have to first pull your head out of your fucking ass.

Catholic Priest Died For Almost An Hour,Says God Is A Woman Monday, February 23, 2015

[A] Catholic priest from Massachussetts was officially dead for more than 48 minutes before medics were able to miraculously re-start his heart has revealed a shocking revelation that will change everything you once believed.

http://www.shieldspirit.com/2015/02/after-being-dead-for-almost-hour-priest.html

The 71-year-old cleric Father John Micheal O’neal claims he went to heaven and met God, which he describes as a warm and comforting motherly figure.

Father John Micheal O’neal was rushed to the hospital on January 29 after a major heart attack, but was declared clinically dead soon after his arrival.

With the aid of a high-tech machine called LUCAS 2, that kept the blood flowing to his brain, doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital managed to unblock vital arteries and return his heart to a normal rhythm.

The doctors were afraid he would have suffered some brain damage from the incident, but he woke up less than 48 minutes later and seems to have perfectly recovered.

The elderly man claims that he has clear and vivid memories of what happened to him while he was dead. He describes a strange out-of-body experience, experiencing an intense feeling of unconditional love and acceptance, as well as being surrounded by an overwhelming light.

He claims that at that point in his experience, he went to heaven and encountered God, which he describes as a feminine, mother-like “Being of Light”.

“Her presence was both overwhelming and comforting” states the Catholic priest. “She had a soft and soothing voice and her presence was as reassuring as a mother’s embrace. The fact that God is a Holy Mother instead of a Holy Father doesn’t disturb me, she is everything I hoped she would be and even more!

The declarations of the cleric caused quite a stir in the catholic clergy of the archdiocese over the last few days, causing the Archbishop to summon a press conference to try and calm the rumors.

Despite the disapproval of his superiors, Father O’neal says that he will continue dedicating his life to God and spread the word of the “Holy Mother”.

“I wish to continue preaching” says the elderly cleric. “I would like to share my new knowledge of the Mother, the Son and the Holy Ghost with all catholics and even all Christians. God is great and almighty despite being a woman…”

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston has not confirmed however, if they will allow Father O’neal to resume his preaching in his former parish in South Boston.

This Monday, Ontario released the new sex 'education' curriculum for schools to start in September 2015.

Kathleen Wynne, Canada's first lesbian Premier is
introducing a hateful new sex education curriculum in Ontario.
Meanwhile, Ben Levin, her former
Deputy Minister of Education is pleading guilty to child pornography and counseling sex assault.

What is the condition of the dead?

Eccl. 9:5: “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.”

Ps. 146:4: “His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts [“thoughts,” KJ, 145:4 in Dy; “all his thinking,” NE; “plans,” RS, NAB] do perish.”

John 11:11-14: “‘Lazarus our friend has gone to rest, but I am journeying there to awaken him from sleep.’ . . . Jesus said to them outspokenly: ‘Lazarus has died.’” (Also Psalm 13:3)

Lazurus never spoke about any afterlife experiences, nor did any of those whom were reserected by Jesus or his apostles.

Is it considered narrow minded to ignore history.  Hitler came to power as a result of an economic crisis brought on by too much debt, and the first thing he, Stalin and Mao did was take away the guns.

Everyone, particularly liberals need to pay at least a little attention to history and educate themselves.  This is a good place to start:http://debtcrash.blogspot.com/2015/02/history-and-introduction.html

Sounds like they are teaching the way things are, rather than the way they are supposed to be.  The government can, does, and has changed the constitution without amendments, to the point where in numerous places, the people no longer have the right to keep and bear arms, nor the right to peacably assemble, nor the right to trial by a jury of their peers.  Executive orders DO carry the force of law, with zero justification.

I don't know what this shit about "cultural nations" is about, but that's probably just FEMA zones.

I'd bet that they teach that it is always the year 1984, too.

In name only.  God’s Word states: “Let all malicious bitterness and anger and wrath and screaming and abusive speech be taken away from you along with all badness.”—Ephesians 4:31.

So can you spare us your profanity and lack of self control?

Jesus said: “Your words show what is in your heart.” (Luke 6:45, Contemporary English Version) Note that what we say doesn’t simply reflect the type of person we would like to be—it reflects the type of person we already are. Even if you use bad language simply because others do it, copying their example reveals that you “follow after the crowd” and that you’re not your own person.—Exodus 23:2.

But that’s not all. Language expert James V. O’Connor says: “People who swear often tend to be disagreeable, critical, cynical, angry, argumentative, and unhappy complainers.” For example, those who curse whenever something goes wrong reflect the belief that everything must always go right. It’s as if they just can’t handle mistakes. On the other hand, O’Connor notes, those who don’t swear “are often calm, . . . mature people who [can] deal with daily annoyances.” Which type of person would you rather be?

As for Christian meetings:  Heb. 10:25  "And let us consider one another so as to incite to love and fine works, 25?not forsaking our meeting together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as you see the day drawing near."

Seems you have a lot to learn about what the bible teaches about being a Christian.

Even Satan knows that God is real.  Didn't help him much.

I think they actually teach socialism because they do not have any intention of eliminating the state as a final goal which, under ultimate communism, actually takes effect. Remember, the fascists were all socialists when it came to economics. The conduit was just theall powerful state and they figured out that actually OWNING everything was a waste of effort when they could just put guns to the "owners" heads and make them do what they want all the while leaving the "upkeep" to the suposed "private property" owners.

Thu, 02/26/2015 - 14:59 | 5832314 artless

Dude, Obama is a plain vanilla fascist just like pretty much every other president anyone can name. Socialism requires the state owning the means of production. All fascism requires is the merging of the state with the means of production and wealth or for the fully illiterate - the fucking government tells private citizens, business, etc what they can and cannot do and enforces the edicts through a monopoly on violence and coercion.

Oh, NO that doesn't sound like anyhting we have here in the USFA. Just remember who this empty suit in The White House said he wanted to be like. That would be FDR. And exactly who did FDR most admire during his time in power. Well, that would be Mussolini and the fascists. And in case you want to doubt me perhaps you should actually go read the words the man wrote himself.

If one studies the socio-economic actions of FDR vs those of the fascists one finds they are nearly exactly alike only varying due to the fact that FDR had to manuever both Congress and the courts as well as that pesky old rag The Constitution. The Euro fascists did not have that problem.

Obama is following the very same path. But then pretty much everyone before him has done similar damage in one form or another.

Common core is a systematic method of alienating parents from the education of their kids.  Common Core strengthens the state at the expense of education.

Well to start, there were only two content experts involved in their development - James Milgram and Sandra Stotsky - and both have not only disavowed the standards, but now testify against them in state legislatures. Also, why would you implement something with 50 million students without ever doing a pilot?

Finally, if you have a couple of hours to spare, here's a great explanation of the "con" side of this argument - I don't agree with everything this guy says, but it's worth listening to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Si-kx5-MKSE.

A little history on government (public) schools. It's very eye opening. I went to my daughters first day of kindergarten and with all the parents still in the room and the very first thing that is done is to pledge alliegence to the flag. Government schools are nothing but indoctrination. If you love saying the pledge and are the patriotic type. Ask yourself, who wrote the pledge, what is it's meaning, and why do you recite it as a 5 year old day after day without knowing anything about it?

Many Germans remained unconvinced, however, by the new race theory. Many Germans were, in fact, untroubled by the legal reforms that had made possible the flowering of the Jewish middle class. Many Germans had even championed these reforms.

What happened to those people?

For the sake of your children, get them out of these destructive indoctrination centers that do nothing more than prepare your children to be slaves to the elite class. Work with parents who are like minded and school them yourselves. With enough parents, you can consolidate your talents and teach and train them far better than any government school. How do I know you can do a better job? Look at this article and I ask you, who loves these children, the government school system or the parents? There are three classes of people today: The elitist, the slave and those who remove themselves from the social grid, starting with the government schools.

I live in Florida. My wife and I have schooled our four sons. One is married and is a CPA. Another is a Russian linguist. One is doing graduate work at a seminary. And our fourth is still being schooled by my wife and I. (Mostly my wife) I work full time. We have sacrificed our standard of living to do this for our children. We have no regrets. We would do it again. There is so much material on the internet to support families who desire an alternative to government schools. Is it a perfect system? No Can it be frustrating? Yes

Socialization has never been a problem for us. It is a problem for the government; because when parents are in charge of their children's social standards, then the government is not and they hate not being in control. When it comes right down to it, the fundamental question to be asked is who has the ultimate right over your children, you as parents or the State. Your actions will answer that question.

Public School should be banned on mental health grounds.

I agree with you that it should. It won't. Quite the opposite. There will be a shooting by a home schooled student and the victims will be other home schoolers.  This will intersect liberal causes, guns (bad), home schooling (kids not protected, not diverse, not edjumicated correctly, food not MichelleO approved). Then in a panic (cough Patriot Act cough), Congress will require public school for every kid. Facts won't matter, knee jerks will.

This seems to be endemic to Florida School Boards.  My wife and I fought the Bay County School Board back in the 80's for their idiotic 'Social Promotion'as they promoted my son from kindergarten, first grade then second grade.  Meanwhile he was falling hopelessly behind all the other kids in his class.  That, and teachers that would push their versions of religion into their curriculum (Santa, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy and Halloween were all satanic and evil things) was one of the prime reasons that I brough my family to California for the best in public education.  Little did I know how fast, and how far, standards had fallen in California...but it was a little bit better than Florida.

While our battles with the Board was going on, the State of Florida decided that teachers had to pass a test for licensing and all teachers in the State had to take the exam.  There was something like an 80% failure rate.  What did Florida do?  Lower the passing grade to something ridiculously low...like around 30%.

I have little respect for teachers.  They're overpaid public employees even at entry level wages (I've done their taxes) and there's absolutely nothing saintly about them.

Sidenote:  The Board closed an old school.  Our school had a playground that was a patch of weedy sand.  As PTA President I got a group of parents together and we went over to the closed school, dismantled their playground equipment and erected it at our school over a weekend.  Got called before the school board for suspicion of theft.  In their decisions before getting to me, they decided to demolish everything at the closed school.  Then they went after me for unauthorized transfer of school property.  I pointed out that they had just decided to demolish everything and I had saved them a few bucks on the playground demolition.  That completely stumped them and the people in the audience had a good laugh.  They decided I had done nothing wrong.

I remeber when I was in public school - like 3rd grade - my advanced reading group needed a book to read.  I suggested "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe".  However, the book had to go through a review first because apparently it could be considered religious (I was obviously religious, even at that age).  This was in the 80s - I can't even imagine how bad it is now.  It was bad enough when we got put in "group projects" and I, an always A student, would get put with mouthbreathers and had to take a C average because "that's what life is like'.  Fuck no it isn't - I don't need to be dragged down by this group mentality.  Upgrayedd out...

from the article: ..."According to school board policy, "the presiding officer may interrupt, warn or terminate a participant's statement when the statement is too lengthy, personally directed, abusive, obscene or irrelevant."

The federal lawsuit Seegmiller filed states that violates state statute that "members of the public shall be given a reasonable opportunity to be heard on a proposition before a board or commission."

Seegmiller was interrupted several times by the board chair, Kathleen Curatolo..."

Kathleen's performance is a great case study for any Communications class.  Rather than pulling a sister Mary Elephant "SHATTUP!", she remains in character and displays an unusually high level of passive agressivity.  She may be able to deflect the angst for the moment, but she does nothing to eliminate, diffuse or at least appear to understand the rightful concern of those participants invited to speak.

The funny thing about it is she'll always have a job in government as long as we have one.  She'll use this episode in her resume.

Biggest joke of an excuse for "raising the bar" in education I've ever seen.  It was so bad at our kids private school, yes you read that right, that we pulled our kids out and are home schooling them.  Common core is pure indoctrination and is jammed full of mistruths, it tries to reshape history and has a green initiative sprinkled in each corner.  This is and will destroy our future generations, don't take my word for it, do your own homework.

Good on you, Formula!  We also pulled our kids out of Christian private school after five years, when we realized the kids were learning WHAT to think, rather than HOW to think.  I homeschooled them, with almost no help from my wife, for nine years, while working full time at home as a software engineer.  I may have made some mistakes along the way, but my kids were never labeled by the State, medicated by the State, or indoctrinated by the State!  It was the toughest thing I've ever done in my life, and there were a lot of bad memories from some of the fights and arguments with the kids and wife... but those memories are ALL MINE!  I OWN them, and I'm proud of them, and proud that my kids have the ability to think for themselves... even if my daughter's spelling is a bit lacking, having made the wrong decision to skip third grade phonics!

mrpxstin,

I'm not sure who you were replying to, but it kind of sounds like you were accusing me of being a child molester because I sacrificed nine years of my life and career to make sure my kids weren't brainwashed by the state, or even by my own church.  I bore the expense myself, while paying my property taxes so OTHER PEOPLE'S kids could go to public school for "free".  So, if that is what you were trying to imply, I'm sure that 95%+ of ZH readers would join me in tellying you to GFY.

But in case that isn't subtle enough or couth enough, please look at the above link, and then tell me where the REAL molesters are!

If you think I deprived my kids of activities, let me just tell you that my kids got to lobby at the state house and the UN, work on a re-election campaign, fly an airplane, and take classes from such brillian people as John Stormer.  I could go on and on about stupid homeschool stereotypes, but anyone who knows anything about homeschooling knows that there is a LOT MORE crap going on in public schools than in homeschools.

Liberals from "up north" have come down here, and are turning my state into the shit hole they left behind in places like Massachusetts, Illinois, Wisconsin, Conneticutt, New Jersey, you get the picture. Did you notice the Chairperson's voice? I hear the unmistakable nasally accent of someone from the Shitcago area, possibly Wisconsin or Minnesota. The birthplace of American socialism. Scum like this have agendas. They want to brainwash children into big daddy government {Socialism}. Death to them. Little tyrants can't stand any criticism, or questioning of their authority.

They did the same thing to Colorado. So many Liberals migrated from California their tuning Colorado into California #2.

Yeah, because Florida was completely filled with rocket scientists before those dumb liberals got there.

Hey bootlicking bitch; Never said it was full of Rhodes Scholars, just implying that it was ALLOT MORE live and let live until the "oh how I love big daddy gubmint, can I have some more please" types arrived from the above mentioned places. This place is beginning to look more like New Jersey with each passing day. When they repeal the stand your ground law, and install a state income tax to pay for the metastasizing cancer known as gubmint, I will bail for Orange Beach Alabama or Buloxi Mississippi. Texas sounds good now, but will it be Aztlan in ten years?

Communists/Socialists are NOT liberals.  Yes, Minn/WI was the birth place of American Socialism (sort of), but also the Progressive Party and others who were against corporate governments ripping people off and taking them to war.  These are AMERICAN traditions of challenging the powers that be.  8 hour work week?  You can thank anarchists in Chicago, some of whom were hung.  I really wish people would take a moment to understand anything about communist theory - I'm not saying that the traditional form applies appropriately now.  However, you will find that almost no liberals or democrats are real commuinsts - it's only comrades and allies on the right who label it that (probably because of a history of red-baiting from the right in the US).  You're welcome to call obama a commie if it makes you feel good, for example, but it's not helpful and it's not accurate.  How would you feel if people called Bush a libertarian - you'd say "you're a moron, he's so far from it, he's for big government!".  Think about it - I'm not asking you to be nice to dumbass liberals who think they're socialists when they're not - I'm just telling you to consider that to defeat the statists those of us liberty minded folks on the right and the left need to find commonality.  Accurately labeling statist as such (and not as communists or whatever) would be a great start.

I mean you're railing against "little tyrants [who] can't stand any criticism, or questioning of their authority".  When I was an actual communist in an actual communist group, people had to defend their arguments with reason.  That reason had to persuade a majority of the group.  If someone's reason didn't stand up, they weren't allowed to fall back on their "authority" because reason is the only authority.  Leaders could be automatically recalled by a vote of the members - this kept leaders from being authoritarian morons.  The USSR was state-controlled capitalism - not dissimilar from the state of the US these days, but that's because of the oligarchs and corporate elite - NOT because Obama is a communist, which is a ridiculous position.

Fuck you too MFer. ONCE A COMMUNIST, ALWAYS A COMMUNIST. "Take a minute to truly understand communist doctrine" HAHAHA! I truly understand communist doctrine you pinko asshole. But you were right about one thing, no one is a classical liberal today, just like there are too few classical conservatives. Today we have Neo-liberals, and neo-conservatives. They are both cut from the same cloth. No go back to masterbating to pictures of Clinton and Obama, your fellow comrades.

Your emotional outbursts and the lack of any substantial arguments says it all. The propaganda has worked.

What’s ‘communist’ about Clinton and Obama (apart from FOX News using those terms to describe them)?

I’m not a communist – an anarchist, yes. But at least I know what communism is, and what you’ve got in US is not it.

100 years ago communism and socialism were synonymous.
