guessed it!
Me, too. There's been so much hype on this company.

Yeah, well I got her iPhone number. How do ya like THEM apples?
Pfizer, if your stock price erection last less than 4 hours call your closest member of the plunge protection team and have no worries
they use slave labor, don't pay .01 cent in taxes. so how would your company do given these tools?
now ive seen it all. A shiny apple thats all air underneath the skin
There's a reason for that massive gain. It was undervalued on almost every valuation metric before the gain. That's why I bought a bunch of it last year (and sold it maybe a month ago).
itunes is easily the most annying piece of crap software ever written.
lol it is just the worst. editing play lists or libraries is just impossible. it might be the weakest thing apple has ever created.
Even if it was well written, what purpose does it serve?
Why can't I just load crap DIRECTLY on my Apple gear, ala Windows.
Perfect timing.
China just dropped APPL from its state purchase list for espionage concerns.

I'm just as shocked that Eugenia is still available...
I LOL'd
She's cultivated, for goodness sake!
Though it is used correctly, I feel cultivated is more appropriate when describing mushrooms, not women.

I was torn between pets.com and this.
But they have a watch coming that is going to be like a computer. And you only have to charge it every single night. Oh, and it is expensive.

And it'll allow our beloved government to track everything - EVERYTHING - you do. As a staunch liberal, that's like my wet dream!
Earlier today, I had a self-induced, wide-awake wet dream, and, I don't vote. Did they track that and do they want more of the special sauce?
From the maker of various iSeeYou devices, no less.
iDontKnow.
What is it?
Apple's valuation may seem crazy, but looking at other large caps its arguably one of the most fairly valued companies out there today (on a relative basis). They pulled in a 40% profit margin for 2014...
But there is no guarantee about tomorrow and Apple relies on the 'coolness' factor and there are many formerly cool things that no longer exist because the cool wore off. Forward P/E is just a wild guess based on hope.
people were making this argument 800 percent ago
It's not just the coolness the products are generally very well designed and attractive, and tend to work very well together but beyond all that, it's like the roach motel -- once you get in the whole Apple ecosystem, it's very hard to get out.
I saw an article in the paper that there is a rumor afloat that Apple is designing an iCar, to compete with Tesla I suppose.
Gulp . . . I'm in a mixed marriage - my wife's an i-tard. But hell the stuff works for her and I don't have to support it - i just say: I don't know anything about Apple stuff. So it's all cool . . . but a car? Good Lord. Let me guess, the factory will be overseas where all their money is -- that way they can sink all that dough before the US makes them repatriate it and pay taxes. It's a crazy idea - but if they have sense they'd be looking at Toyota (Prius), not Tesla . . . and Toyota is focussed on fuel cells rather than batteries in the next few years.
Mr gave me an iPad because he thought it would be simple as a toaster for someone not as tech savvy as he is. I will say the ease of use is attractive but the functionality is sacrificed. Every upgrade is an intestinal torsion and I usually hand it too him in frustration after I have thoroughly mucked it up. The last one he did and it was beyond that. Not that I have heard more pleasantries from him while working on his PC.
Technology is never seamless. My DNA extractor robot today decided to eat and shred 3 of my serum specimens without even an apology. I view that as a statement of our future.
Miffed;-)
People are so stupid it's incredible. My own relative, 86 years-old, was just conned into buying a $600 iCrapple. She has no idea how to use it but the salesperson told her, "Everyone is buying one. Don't be left out. You'll look old-fashioned."
wtf ?!
Now I understand how these old folks fall for those Nigerian email scams.
Rise of the machines, Miffed.
I don't care for apple's proprietary nature. apple doesn't work with anything else. you want music? you gotta buy it from iTunes. You want an App? You gotta buy it from iTunes. Oh, and every year they change their OS so your old apple crap doesn't work. No thanks. I'll stick with the other guys. Fuck apple.
I have the exact same problem with them. Add to that the fact that you pay almost twice as much for Apple, as compared to non-Apple, on a performance basis (GHz for GHz, GB for GB), and I'll stick with the WinTel based tech, buggy though it can sometimes be. I went from Win98SE to WinXP to Win7. The real secret is knowing which Windows versions to avoid. Also, ALWAYS max out the system's RAM.
windows 7 works fine. with a workstation xeon and ECC memory, i have never had a crash in 8 years. never.
that said, i'm building out linux machines, and they work just as reliably. for free.
Yes, it's like an abusive relationship--the victims are scared to leave and make excuses for the abuser. But at least the products work and look cool.
Is that like "My pimp dresses smart, and he doesn't smack me around every day"?
Bring back the Psion 5mx. It was awesome and it made for a great Surveying Data Collector.
However, I might just buy the gold Apple watch...I've always wanted a gold watch...
Apple is one of the cheapest stocks out there compared to everything else, back out the cash, and it's even cheaper. ZH has been 100% wrong about this company from day 1.
If you really understood Apple, you'd understand why they CAN'T "back out the cash".......
because it's overseas and it gets taxed if they bring back here? ok, tax it first then back out the cash, give me a fucking break
see: Fight Club Rules
Indeed. All the trash companies they could be beating up on and they choose a successful one. ZH must still be short on AAPL...
You are correct. But you could also see AAPL as an indicator of something else: debt slavery's success in achieving peak stupidity.
I also find it odd that ZH picks on a company with a forward PE of 14. I mean good lord, how many stocks out there have absurd PE ratios or none at all? But you pick Apple that has the best balance sheet in the history of the world and you point to the last all time highs when it had a ridiculously cheap PE ratio. I got an idea, when a company's PE ratio is that low why don't you recomned buying?? (crickets) You know, maybe make some fucking money.
Do you not feel the Idiocracy setting in when you have a cellphone company reaching the highest market cap ever?
This. I brought this observation into conversation last week. Some got it. Most didn't.
Not aerospace. Not engineering. Not energy. The largest company on Earth got that way by convincing billions of people to gaze at a tiny little screen all day. Drones on phones.
Fuck going to the Moon, or Mars, I can't even get down the sidewalk without them thumbstumbling all over the damn place.
I'm with you ,,, there are so many where the P/E is "not a meaningful number" and so many are well known... I buy used iCRAP and resell it overseas where it still has some value... but I would never use iTunes ,,, I carry a generic iPod that you can drag and drop onto... A MILLION TIMES BETTER THAN iTunes method...
LOL- yeah, we hear that same speech at every top- "But, but... It just HAS to go higher, because it's cheap now...."
BTW, everyone gets freaked out when Intel's profit margin drops towards 50%- don't get too comfy with 40%.....
If you think Aapl is expensive, I suggest you look at Home Depot.
Home Depot is also up 76% from it's highs in 2012.
Take the market cap of both HD and AAPL and divide by 2014 profits:
HD: 25.47
AAPL: 19.3
Which do you feel is the most overvalued?
What? No housing boom? Where the hell is Greenspan when you need a new housing bubble?
Nail guns are getting pricey.
apple major problem is its a one trick iphone pony
IMO-and I have mac powerbook, 2 ipads 3 ipods and a wife who has iphone 6--Apple is going the way MSFT went--getitng too comples. USe of its equipment was intuitive--was--if you looki at msft office pro porduct--it doems 25 million things--execpt its hard to do second level excell and word processes--making a chart used to be easy--no longer.
thats ok for power users but aI am not a power user.
Same with ipad--getting too complex, but the thing that really pissed me off is they do not make Ipod classics anymore--go use itouch they say but I touch is harder to use physically larger and has a fraction of classic memory. I have a big itunes library built over many years.
now I need to and will spend time to find an alternative.
I go back to teh IIe and also the original square macintosh-which aI preferred over DOS then windows 3.1 especially excell which was very easy to use
So many typographical errors... looks like a job for the iPhone to force another update on its users to fix.
wasn't much hype going on went it went down below $400 pre split, nothing but negative hype
Inside Jobs company.
aol?
1996
Shoot...I was wrong. I guessed Unilever....maker of vasoline.

i nailed it before clicking the link, im such a savy ZH reader!
Can't be Southwest (LUV)...it quadrupled and has a monthly RSI above 93, pretty much a world record in terms of overbought territory.
worst flight of my life- southwest airlines to denver. sat next to a 400lb asshole on his phone entire flight. took up half my seat. turbulence was fking scary as hell.
oh, and the stock? its prob a nasdaq or s&p ETF. everything is 70% over valued. everything
You know the flight is going to be bad when the person next to you brings their own seatbelt extender.
Happened to me between Santa Barbara and Salt Lake (Bombardier CRJ700).
The 400lb asshole next to me on SWA spent the whole time eating food he brought on board. I wonder if it was the same guy.
Bank of America? Oh sorry I thought that was price.
Let's do another: This company loses money on every sale but makes it up on volume. It has a current market cap of $180B.
AMZN
Does that stand for 'amazing'?
I think appl makes it off volume too!!
and off Chinese workers
http://www.bbc.com/news/business-30532463
Yes but when they put every other retailer out of business, they can jack up their prices, so that the last 20% of Americans that have jobs will have no choice but to order stuff from this glorified middle man.
It seems like I've been hearing this for at least the last 5 years, and just like the US economy is just about to turn the corner, Amazon's margins are about to go up.
I remember back in 2011 all the asshats on CNBC led by that king of "free markets" Mr Kudblow were all talking about real growth, not just EPS through stock buybacks would lead this country out if its malaise. Well 2QEs later and a trillion in buybacks we still have no real growth, if one takes away all the funny money that has been printed worldwide.
If you study monopolies in a free market, what you describe has never happened.
We have "free markets"?? That's news to me.
I got this... All of them?
One moar: This company has a p/e of 72 and claims to have moar users than there are people on the planet.
FB?
"claims to have moar users than there are people on the planet."
You have to count "bots" to get to thier number. I am sure those "bots" signed them selves up too!!!
worth every penny because Sucker-burglar is such a great CEO!
Hmmm, either FB or Youporn.
pods
PG (they make TP)
That Taco Truck company?
Fuck me. I figured you were referring to the generic food truck craze, but with that many upvotes I had to google it.
Fuck me twice, what a joke. But the Grilled Cheese Truck is way moar awesomer.
Still cheap .... Where's Reggie? Cough, Cough.
Ah cmon, the iCar is out 2020 and will redraw the car industry. Be ready to get electrified by something you have never seen before.
Teaser: its running on batteries and can be controlled from anywhere in the world by an ipad. Totally secure. Even obomba will have one!
Just wait until they introduce the newer i-phone it's coming out in a new color (heliotrope). Worshippers are buying their new camping tents as I write.
Once the appl car hits the street all bets are off...This bitch goes straight to the moon!
Who gets the ticket for speeding?
Finally, flying cars... about damn time.
on other news...at 12:00, VIX spiked, treasury yields go up 1 bps in a straight line.
what happens at 12:00? NY FED securities lending of treasuries to primary dealers.
conclusion: rigged market, primary suspect = one (or more) of the primary dealers
good job, NY FED
what happens at 12:00? Liquid lunch
Me and My EYEphone.
That trend began was when the world learned AAPL is in bed with NSA. It's worth a lot of money to be on Uncle Sam's team

OT but what happened to VOL? LewYellen keeping ZIRP/USD in hand, Valuation/Macro disconnect, Chinese are back, Japan has growth, Greeks are I suppose content, peace looms in Ukraine, Iran has a nuke deal comingl, ISIS is a media roos and ECB funding is iminent but why so quiet? Have the 1% decided to sit on thumbs and take a holiday? Let's just run in place for another 6 years, hey? Did I just answer my own question?
If ZH is hinting that a 15 future P/E is absurdly high, it's not.
LOGI Logitech, they make docking devices, I phone speaker systems, they always have some far out high tech gadget in development, (which never quite makes it into production, they had some sort of partnership with google TV for a while) they sell the sizzle to shareholders, because they're swiss they aren't that transparent, they trade as an ADR. they make their money selling accessories, including television remotes. management has always been able to game the currency exchange. their products are made in China.
laughing my ass off, forward PE of 14, gimme a break
I would have said Blackstone.
Thats it, I am buying a food truck.
GRLD
PeterNorth Enterprises....that's what PE stands for, no?

Cheese Truck Inc?
Well we really all NEED that stupid fucking watch thing that they're bringing out next.
Wait for the round-the-corner lines of mindless fuckwits on the evening news. Then for it to die on its face as the real sales become apparent.
Bullshit can only walk on water for so long....
The Apple car will have a back door, right?
