Putin Spokesman Says Nemtsov Murder Was "100% Provocation"

Tyler Durden's picture

Just a few short hours after the terrible murder of Russian opposition politician and outspoken Putin critic Boris Nemtsov, US' John Kerry was quick to condemn the actions of the "reformer" and demand Russia's "expeditious investigation," and President Obama has since issued a statement "admiring [Nemtsov's] struggle against corruption." The undertone was clear - 'Putin did it'. Furthermore, President Poroshenko has claimed that Nemtsov was on the verge of "exposing direct Russian links to the Ukraine conflict." As many realise the futility of trying to determine whether it is a Russian act, a CIA act meant to look like a Russian act, or a Russian act meant to look like a CIA act, Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov says the Nemtsov murder was "100% provocation... It looks like a contract killing."

As RT reports,

Opposition politician Boris Nemtsov died in the center of Moscow after he was shot at four times. A number of leading figures from all sides of political spectrum called his murder a "provocation".

Boris Nemtsov, a veteran opposition figure in Russia, was gunned down in a drive-by attack in central Moscow on Friday night. The murder triggered worldwide condemnation and calls to bring the killers to justice.

Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov explains...

Images from Ukraine...

As The Telegraph reports, President Poroshenko has stated that Nemtsov planned to reveal Russian links to the Ukraine conflict...

Iryna Baliacheva, a Russian political migrant living in Ukraine told reporters Putin was to blame for the murder.

"Putin opened Pandora's box and released dangerous powers: non-acceptance of a different opinion (from his), representatives of the opposition were called traitors, while we (Ukrainians) are considered US Department of State agents.

"And now people who believed in Russia's television lies may also believe that some robbers killed him, but I think that this was organised by Putin in order for him to stay in power."

The gathering in Kiev came as Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, said on Saturday Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov was murdered because he planned to disclose evidence of Russia's involvement in Ukraine's separatist conflict.

Poroshenko paid tribute to Nemtsov, who was shot dead late on Friday, and said the fierce critic of President Vladimir Putin had told him a couple of weeks ago that he had proof of Russia's role in the Ukraine crisis and would reveal it.

"Boris Nemtsov, a big friend of Ukraine and big patriot of Russia has been killed. He was like a bridge connecting Ukraine and Russia, he built the kind of relations between our countries that I would like to see," said Poroshenko.

"To me Nemtsov is a symbol of a Russian citizen that connects (Ukraine and Russia) and sincerely respects Ukraine."

"Boris had declared that he would provide the clear evidence of Russian Armed forces' participation in (the war) in Ukraine.

"Somebody was afraid of this, Boris wasn't afraid. Killers and executors were afraid."

Secretary Kerry: February 2015 » Murder of Boris Nemtsov

I am shocked and saddened to learn of the brutal murder of former Russian Deputy Prime Minister Boris Nemtsov in central Moscow. Boris Nemtsov committed his life to a more democratic, prosperous, open Russia, and to strong relationships between Russia and its neighbors and partners, including the United States. He served his country in many roles – in the federal government, in the parliament, as Governor of Nizhniy Novgorod, and as a political leader and activist. In every post, he sought to reform and open Russia, and to empower the Russian people to have a greater say in the life of their country. His absence will be deeply felt in Russia and around the world. The United States urges the Russian authorities to act expeditiously to investigate and bring to justice those responsible. Our thoughts are with the Russian people and with Mr. Nemtsov’s family and friends as we mourn his loss.

*  *  *

Statement by the President on the Murder of Boris Nemtsov

The United States condemns the brutal murder of Boris Nemtsov, and we call upon the Russian government to conduct a prompt, impartial, and transparent investigation into the circumstances of his murder and ensure that those responsible for this vicious killing are brought to justice.  Nemtsov was a tireless advocate for his country, seeking for his fellow Russian citizens the rights to which all people are entitled.  I admired Nemtsov’s courageous dedication to the struggle against corruption in Russia and appreciated his willingness to share his candid views with me when we met in Moscow in 2009.  We offer our sincere condolences to Boris Efimovich’s family, and to the Russian people, who have lost one of the most dedicated and eloquent defenders of their rights.

*  *  *

It appears - no matter who or what was responsible - we're back at near-Cold War levels of hostility between the USA and Russia.

and instead directed their attention closer to the problems at home.

Speaking of "expeditious" investigations, what about

the MH17 investigation,

the Cheney-CIA torture files,

the unanswered 9/11 questions, including about Saudi involvement,

Of course Nemtsov's murder was a 'provocation' - just like all the other unsolved murders in Russia. Why so many 'unsolved' murders of journalists, Kremlin critics, etc.? Either the Russian police and investigatory services are incompetent or they're reluctant to finger someone close to the Kremlin.

Hmmm...what could it be?

Indicted war criminals for presidents . The CIA that smuggles drugs and is the biggest wholesale dealer in the world .......The USA is worse than Russia . Russia doesn't go around telling other countries what their foreign policies shoudl be . the USA has a long list of wars from the end of WW2 ..... In over 200 years of existence the USA as been at peace for only 20 Years . So for over 90 % of the times the USA has been at war . The USA pretends to be a democracy when in fact the vote of the citizens don't count anything   . The USA is a plutocracy run by lobby groups and psicopaths

"The USA is worse than Russia."

Is that so?  Is that why 80,458 Russians voted with their feet in a recent year immigrating to the United States?  Or why less than ten(!) folks emigrated from the U.S. to Russia?

Should we believe you or the Russians voting with their feet, Bob?  :-)

According to UN Population Division estimates, as of 2013,  the Russian Federation was second only to the United States in the sheer number of immigrants. This is a fact that continues to elude many Americans as, justifiably or not, Russia is commonly thought of as a place to leave rather than a place to which to move. And while it’s true that Russian citizens are emigrating in increasing numbers in recent years (a phenomenon that has been compared to the brain drain of the early 1990s), significantly larger flows of immigrants from the former Soviet Union have been entering Russia for the last twenty years.

http://thesaker.is/breaking-news-false-flag-in-moscow/

"By the way if, as I believe, this is a false flag, I expect it to be a stunning success in the West and a total flop in Russia: by now, Russians already can smell that kind of setup a mile away and after MH-17 everybody was expecting a false flag.  So, if anything, it will only increase the hostility of Russians towards the West and rally them around Putin.  In the Empire, however, this will be huge, better thanPolitkovskaya or Litvinenko combined.  A “Nemtsov” prize will be created, a Nemtov statue will be place somewhere (in Warsaw?), the US Congress will pass a “Nemtsov law” and the usual combo package of “democratic hagiography” will be whipped-up."

"Already came reports to cancel the liberal march of "Spring", and replace it with a funeral march exactly in the center of Moscow."  Exactly the same modus operandi with which they tried to shake the argentinean government with the death of "Prosecutor Nisman" (which had his "funeral march" profusely promoted by the MSM in "Nisman's honour" and "for Justice"). A march honouring a prosecutor who had only one task: to investigate the terrorist attack happened in 1994 against AMIA, a jewish organization in Buenos Aires. And what did Nisman do? He had all the resources, about 80 personnel under him, and accomplished NOTHING for 11 years. He dropped all leads to "concentrate" in the "iranian" (!) lead 'cause Israel said the iranians did it and the US said prosecution should drop ANY OTHER LEAD and focus on the iranian one. Then Nisman, days before his death, charged - with no evidence of any kind - President Fernandez, her chancellor, a deputy of his Party and a social activist for the cover-up of the iranians (!!!). Then he died (nobody yet knows if he was killed or shot himself), the MSM went violent in labeling the Argentina's President as "murderer", "corrupted", etc., then  the 18F "funeral march" was set and a big circus went on. This happening, among other things, President Fernandez made an important commercial deal with China, so she "deserved" all the rage in Universe. Boy, they're so fucking predictable and they've 0 (ZERO, ABSOLUT ZERO) credibility. So they get the opposite result: Those who they point against become almost instantly the "good guys" 'cause we all see and then know the consequences of the US/NATO "peace and prosperity". I don't know how a different world order is gonna look like, but I'm sure it can't be worse than this deep shit we're into upon the boots of the US Empire of banksters and warmongers.

Isn't it supposed to be give and take?

I suppose, in a normal situation certainly yes.

However, in the Talmudic (thus, Zionist) situation, it is very different:

You have permitted to shed the blood of Goyim / Gentiles. It is permitted to steal and plunder the Goyim / Gentile's possessions and (it is allowed) to cheat him. Concerning the lost property of a Goyim / Gentile, you say that it is forbidden to return it to him. The Goyim / Gentile is suspected by the Talmudist of practicing fornication, adultery, and sodomy. The Talmudist is not allowed to make the Goyim / Gentile any gift, nor is he even permitted to say, "How handsome this Goyim / Gentile is"; it is permitted to you to curse and to despise [Christian] idolatry.

Boris Nemtsov has been shot dead in Moscow.  He was one of the most charismatic leaders of the "liberal" or "democratic" "non-system" opposition in Russia (please understand that in the Russian context "liberal" and "democratic" means pro-US or even CIA-run, while "non-system" means too small to even get a single deputy in the Duma).  He was shot just a few days before the announced demonstration of the very same "liberal" or "democratic" "non-system" opposition scheduled for March 1."

When I see the Western MSM and its top leaders (and that Poroshenko clown) very quickly lining up in one direction, putting the blame immediately on Putin, I then know that this is definitely a false flag attack.

The US and its EU vassals are at war with Russia. Nothing in the Western MSM will be allowed to deflect from their attack on Russia. If the US is willing to cause the death of 500,000 Iraqis in the 1990's, 1,000,000 in the Middle East and Southeast Asia in 2000-20008, then another 1,000,000 since then, why is one more death a moral problem for them?

In my typo above I did not mean to imply that the US will support mass murder until the year 20,008, although if the US eliminates all rivals to its world hegemony then untold more millions will die in this century to bring about the 'exceptional and indispensable' Pax Americana Tyranny.

The problem is that we will never really know what this was all about. There has been so much dedicated demonization by both sides that regular folks looking on are right to doubt everything.

I disregard my own country's 'line', they have become ridiculously predictable. I have the same disregard for any of the other 'official' explanations. I also have no trust in all the other varied 'conspiracy theorist' types of scenarios.

A few things I do consider are...Putin, I'm sure, does not miss this guy. But he's not a stupid man. Gunning this guy down in the open like that doesn't fit if it comes from Putin...why would that method have been chosen when there are numerous other ways he could have been taken out that wouldn't have looked so bloody obvious? Such a method would serve the anti-Putin crowd much more...like we are seeing in the aftermath.

I've no doubt someone took him out, it wasn't a robbery gone wrong. But you have to ask who it SERVES to do it like this. Does it serve Putin to order a clumsy, obvious "hit" in a very public place? Or does it serve Putin's enemies to stage such a thing and pin it on Putin?

I'm thinking that if it was Putin, this guy would have simply disappeared, or been found floating face down somewhere. A public 'hit' would have been disguised to LOOK like a robbery, or a personal dispute, not just someone popping him off like that in public.

Although this guy dead does serve Putin's interest, the METHOD of the killing serves Putin's enemies more.

And keep in mind that Putin has enemies that are NOT part of the US/West, and that these folks would also benefit from doing something like this and blaming it on Putin, knowing the West will eagerly take that bait and run with it.

This 'hit' was very amateurish, very 'street-thug'. Professionals of the caliber that would be working for Putin would not be so sloppy, so public, and so obvious. So the question I have to ask is who does it serve?

If CIA killed Nemtsov than it would be :

  1. to stop from criticizing Putin

  2. to stop from spreading report about facts that prove Russian army in Ukraine

  3. to stop 1. March "Russian Spring" gathering in Moscow
  4. to stop opportunity to reform Russia and remove Putin regime

It wasn't a murder! Murder by definition means killing someone without justification or excuse, and that the case here was not! There is no more legitimate, valid or rightful justification or excuse than killing a foreign (and from your enemy's!) planted mole, an obvious foreign agent who meant ill to you, your country and your people! That is justice! That is what you do when you find a foreign agent! That is what all free and sovereign people do! You don't let your enemy kill you; you kill your enemy! So fuck that criminal half-breed Jewish scum Nemtsov! Scum got what he was long overdue to get! Hopefully there the true purges will be coming! I am sure there are many more vermin such that half-breed on whom justice is waiting to be served! Let us hope it soon shall too!

Putin's approval rating is around 80% and Russia wants to preserve its image abroad to avoid sanctions. So what does Putin do? Kills a washed up political opponent - something that only benefits his adversaries? Doesn't make sense. Poroshenko was quick to take advantage of the death and claim Nemtsov was "about to prove that Russia was involved in Ukraine", but why would that matter if the West is already certain of that? Mainstream media with a short attention span will be sure to present a narrative of complete certainty that "Putin killed another opponent" and forget the story within a week, even if it turns out to be fake, like when Kim Jong Il supposedly fed his uncle to starving dogs, or when the Estonian FM told Catherine Ashton that snipers on the Maidan were possibly hired by Ukraine's new leaders. What matters is that millions of voters will hear the convenient narrative, and only a handful will hear the truth a few weeks later, regardless of whether it supports or contradicts that narrative. And that's one of the ways to manufacture consent.

Bush 41 made it clear to the Russians that neither the communists nor communism nor Russian imperialism would ever be held accountable for its crimes.  Why then should we be surprised at the criminal behavior of a cabal of "former" communists running the latest iteration of the Russian Empire?  Russia has no history of honest democratic or republican institutions.  The only alternative they have ever known to dictatorship has been chaos.

That Putin almost immediately announced he would be "taking over" the investigation is in itself damning.  I doubt there will ever be an believable resolution to yet another Russian tragedy.  The only things that are certain is that both the Kremlin and Washington will do their best to exploit the event to their best advantage and more innocent people will die for Russia's latest cult of personality.

The murderers of Nemtsov are not not know.  Who decided he should be murdered is unknown. The MSM is having a field day blaming Putin himself

The murderers of Todashev are known.  7 FBI agents and Mass. State police were in his living room questioning him for 8 hours until he was shot 7 times. Once by each of the seven the agents using the same gun.  The order for Todashev's assassination came from high up in the NSA.  Obama did not take charge of the investigation.  The Florida Attorney General did not charge any of the 7 law officers with any crime.

there are already more stories in the Main Stream Propaganda about Nemtsov being killed by Putin  --which no one can prove  --   than there were about the 7 law enforcement officers who killed Todashev.

Todashev was going to be a witness in the trial of the brother who was caught, and the state had to be sure he was going to give the right testimony.   If he wasn't, he had to be prevented from testifying for the defense. Six or seven bullets did the trick.

The FBI told the propaganda writers that he attacked the police with 3 or 4 different weapons and the propagandists rubbed vaseline on their butts,  bent over and printed it.

If you commit suicide by cop, for what reason in your demented logic, do you wait around for eight (8) hours while those officers question you  -- we assume NOT TOO NICELY?

Russia: Murder of Boris Nemtsov Must Be Meaningfully Investigated

The killing of Boris Nemtsov, one of Russia's most prominent political activists, must be promptly, impartially and effectively investigated.

Boris Nemtsov was shot and killed late in the evening of 27 February in central Moscow. His killer, who escaped from the scene, has not been identified.

The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has stated that he would personally control the progress over the investigation.

“In the current climate of crackdown on freedoms of expression, assembly and association, this is a cold-blooded murder of one of those free voices whom the authorities have so actively sought to silence” said Denis Krivosheev, Amnesty International’s Regional Deputy Programme Director for Europe and Central Asia.

“There is already a list of unsolved political murders and attacks in Russia, the investigations of which were under ‘personal control’ of senior Russian politicians. We cannot allow Boris Nemtsov to become just another name on this list.”

Boris Nemtsov is one of Russia’s most prominent and courageous political activists, himself a prisoner of conscience in the past when he was arrested in connection with his peaceful street protest. He was one of those who was actively planning for a large opposition demonstration in Moscow this Sunday.

“Failure to investigate promptly and effectively, and bring Boris Nemtsov’s killers to justice in a fair trial, will be a symbolic indictment of the Russian authorities for failure to respect fundamental human rights,” said Denis Krivosheev.

“Until full truth about Boris Nemtsov’s killing is established, the numerous rumours that we are already seeing will persist, and they may be used by all sorts of unsavoury elements to provoke violence around the forthcoming protest events. It is the Russian authorities’ responsibility to ensure that those behind the killing are promptly found, and that the rights to freedom of assembly and expression of all those like-minded with Boris Nemtsov are fully guaranteed and protected.”

MOSCOW—Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov was gunned down on a bridge next to the Kremlin late on Friday, in what authorities said appeared to be a contract killing.

“The president said this brutal killing bears all the hallmarks of a contract murder and is of an exclusively provocative character,” Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for President Vladimir Putin , told Russian news agencies.

He said the president asked to monitor the investigation personally, and had offered his deepest condolences to Mr. Nemtsov’s family.

It was the highest-profile killing of political figure in more than a decade, more typical of the violent years just after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 than of today.

The White House condemned the “brutal murder” and called for a “prompt, impartial & transparent investigation,” in tweets posted by the U.S. National Security Council.

Mr. Nemtsov, 55 years old, was killed just yards from Red Square and the Kremlin wall in the shadow of the multicolored domes of St. Basil’s Cathedral, as he walked across the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge around midnight, on an unseasonably warm winter night.

Police said the assailants fired at least six shots from a passing white car, four which hit Mr. Nemtsov in the back. A woman he was walking with was unhurt, police said, without identifying her.

Police said they had deployed extra officers and issued a special citywide alert for the killers, who remained at large early Saturday. The area near the Kremlin is one of the highest-security locations in the capital, with dozens of video cameras and other monitoring devices installed.

An antigovernment march that Mr. Nemtsov and others were planning to hold in Moscow on Sunday was canceled and will be replaced by a memorial march, said former Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov, now an opposition leader.

“He got lots of threats, mostly via social networks, anonymously,” said Ilya Yashin, a longtime ally of Mr. Nemtsov. “I have no doubt this was a political killing. The only threat to his life came from his political activity. He had no foes other than political ones.”

He said Mr. Nemtsov didn’t take the threats seriously. Mr. Nemtsov’s lawyer, Vadim Prokhorov, told Russian news agencies that a report was filed with police several months ago, but nothing came of it.

Several prominent critics of Mr. Putin and his government have died violently since he came to power, including human-rights activist Anna Politkovskaya, who was murdered in Moscow in 2006, and Alexander Litvinenko, who was poisoned with radioactive polonium in London the same year in a case for which British investigators have said they have evidence of Russia’s involvement. Moscow has denied that.

Mr. Yashin said Mr. Nemtsov had been working on a report to be called “Putin. War,” alleging that Russian troops had been fighting alongside pro-Russia separatists in Ukraine—something the Kremlin has denied.

Sergei Mitrokhin, leader of the opposition Yabloko party, called the killing an “act of political terrorism.”

“This is a challenge not just to the opposition but to the leadership of the country,” he told the official Tass news agency.

If I were really scared, I doubt I’d lead an opposition party; I doubt I’d be doing what I do.

—Boris Nemtsov, in remarks made to the Sobesednik weekly early in February.

Mr. Nemtsov was one of the most prominent of a generation of young pro-democracy reformers who came to power after the collapse of communism. A Kremlin insider in the 1990s, he served as deputy prime minister and was once considered a potential successor to then-President Boris Yeltsin, but fell out of favor under the leadership of Mr. Putin.

In recent years, he had been the target of pro-Kremlin activists and was at times arrested for participating in antigovernment protests. He was among the leaders of the anti-Putin demonstrations in 2011-12.

Mr. Nemtsov was one of the few prominent politicians in Russia to criticize the Kremlin’s policy in Ukraine and last year’s annexation of Crimea. Afterward, he was branded by pro-Kremlin activists as a traitor and a Western agent.

In 1991 he was appointed governor in Nizhny Novgorod, where he was known for a populist touch. After becoming deputy prime minister a few years later, he ordered bureaucrats to give up their Mercedes sedans in favor of locally produced Volgas.

After Mr. Putin came to power in 1999, Mr. Nemtsov and the other 1990s-era liberals were gradually pushed out of power, losing seats in parliament and being driven into open opposition.

Mr. Nemtsov grew increasingly critical of Mr. Putin’s crackdown on private business, political opponents and media freedoms, and found himself steadily pushed to the margins of the political system.

Once a member of the national parliament, he was most recently elected to the city council in the provincial city of Yaroslavl, but pro-Kremlin legislators there were pushing to have him ousted.

A native of Sochi, he had been especially critical of what he called corruption and waste in the $50 billion project to host the Winter Olympics there last year.

Mr. Nemtsov was one of the few prominent politicians in Russia to criticize the Kremlin’s policy in Ukraine and the annexation last year of Crimea from that country.

In comments that now seem a chilling foreshadow, Mr. Nemtsov early in February told the Sobesednik weekly that his mother often expressed fear that he would be killed for his opposition activities.

“‘When will you stop cursing Putin? He’ll kill you for that.’ She was completely serious,” he said. Asked if he shared that concern, he said, “I’m not scared that much (as my mother)…If I were really scared, I doubt I’d lead an opposition party, I doubt I’d be doing what I do.”

Hundereds of thousand of innocent people have been killed, tortured, slaughtered, destroyed, raped, put in illegal penitenciary facilities without charges, acces to Justice, etc..... Hundreds of villages and cities have been destroyed, cultural heritages have been looted or erased, money and resources captured... Presidents have been murdered, elected governments have been thrown... An incesant flow of blood has been reaching almost all corners on Earth since the US has crowned itself (helped by an exhausted Europe) as the Emperor State of the World. Rivers of blood that keep flowing to these days.

Victims worldwide, including US citizens, of course. And probably this Nemtsov too.
