Despite Russian Warnings, US Will Deploy A Battalion To Ukraine By The End Of The Week
"Before this week is up, we’ll be deploying a battalion... to the Ukraine to train Ukrainian forces for the fight that's taking place," stated US 173rd Airborne Brigade Commander Colonel Michael Foster said at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC on Monday. Despite earlier warnings from Russia (and claims that NATO had not agreed to any such foreign 'boots on the ground' action'), Sputnik News reports, Foster added, "what we’ve got laid out is six United States companies that will be training six Ukrainian companies throughout the summer."
This comes a week after PM David Cameron confirmed Britain will be sending 75 military personnel to help combat Russian military aggression.
Despite earlier reports from Russia's NATO envoy that, as TASS reports,
NATO has taken no decisions on sending British or any other instructors to Ukraine, Russia’s Ambassador to the North Atlantic Alliance Alexander Grushko said on Monday.
"NATO has taken no decisions on sending instructors," he told the Rossiya 24 television channel. "NATO is implementing the decisions that were taken at the political level at the Wales summit in September 2014."
Moscow will take all measures, including military-technical, to neutralize possible threat from NATO presence in Ukraine, he added.
It seems it is happening, as Sputnik News reports,
The United States will deploy personnel by the end of this week to train the Ukrainian national guard, US 173rd Airborne Brigade Commander Colonel Michael Foster said at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC on Monday.
“Before this week is up, we’ll be deploying a battalion minus… to the Ukraine to train Ukrainian forces for the fight that’s taking place,” Foster stated. “What we’ve got laid out is six United States companies that will be training six Ukrainian companies throughout the summer.”
...
The current plan is for US forces to stay six months, he said, and noted there have been discussions about how to increase the duration and the scope of the training mission.
The current channels for military training set up between Ukraine and the United States would not be used for transferring defensive lethal aid if the United States decided to provide arms to Ukraine, Foster told Sputnik on Monday.
“It would go through something separate... We would not funnel the lethal aid or arms through that [training] event, we would use a secondary method for that,” Foster said, adding that a completely separate process is preferable.

Here is the full interview with Colonel Foster: "If Russia will invade Ukraine, why would we not think they will invade the US next?"

Of course, we already knew American military boots were on the ground in east Ukraine...
But this seems like a direct aim at Putin after the war-mongery rhetoric this morning:

This is as old as the US Army. It's intentional provocation. Grant wrote about it in his autobiography.
I'm not sure I would be excited about being in the first group sent over. The US needs a provocation and a US troop coming home in a body bag would be just the thing.
The Russians ain't the Mexican Army during the Mexican American War.
This is not going to end well. The Russians will hit hard then it will be full on.
We are helping ukrainians survive as a nation against a mass murderer like Putin
Just cause.
You don't happen to have a link to support your mass-murder assertion do you? TIA.
Since when did a troll/whore/shill ever need proof?
Better question: Polly want a cracker?
What is with the Albanian rage against Putin. Its not like the Euros like you that much. Seems to me they are in a tiffy you guys cant stay on your patch of rocks.
And he has the arrogance to have chess pieces as his icon. A guy who can't construct a coherent sentence. When someone sounds confusing, it is usually an indicator that his thoughts are confused.

Did you forget your sarcasm tags? Idiot.
No, he forgot his "I'm fucking insane" tags.
Obama has bombed 7 Muslim countries and destabilized Ukraine and attempted a coup in Venezuela. How dumb you have to be to buy the CIA characterization of Putin as a mass-murderer?
Since the beginning of the week, the three most influential mass circulation newsmagazines of the United States, Britain, and Germany—Time, The Economist, and Der Spiegel—have published cover stories that combine wild accusations against Vladimir Putin with demands for a showdown with Russia.
The most striking and obvious characteristic of these cover stories is that they are virtually identical. The CIA has scripted them all. The stories employ the same insults and the same fabrications. They denounce Putin’s “web of lies.” The Russian president is portrayed as a “depraved” mass murderer.

Barry and the War Department.
The Germans placed Lenin into Russia to undermine the government there as a war measure to weaken it, knowing Lenin would end Russias participation.
Who the fuck planted Obama into the United States?
The US is becoming more like Kenya day-by-day.........
The same Red Shielded Germans no doubt.
The New World Order placed him here
It wasn't the Germans, it was the Rothschilds (again) and their central banker friends, who were living in Germany, England, US, etc. They only used Germany as the cover story. This way Germany could take the fall while they ran off with the loot.
Regardless, given the developments, it seems to me that it is the US on offense and Russia doing the rope-a-dope defense.
Rope-a-dope works only so long. Eventually you gotta come out swinging, or you run out of time and lose on points.
An asymmetric response (coming out of said defense), would be a kick in the balls. One way would be to cut off the gas to the Ukes and the 182nd in the next few days and... short the Uke currency until it truly goes 'Zimbabwe'. If Russia/Putin can't or won't do that, then you know that there is internal dissent (5th columns sabotage) within the Kremlin itself, or Russia oligarchs are too scared of losing too much in a real war.
Don't kid yourself... billionaires all over the world are the same, insofar their only true allegiance is to their own personal financial empires. They'd rather see their country capitulate than fight, as this preserves more of their wealth. So it is with Russian oligarchs also.
Isn't this the same group that planned the Bay of Pigs?
Langley must be cracking the whip on the dis-info agents lately. It's like Sauromon sending out his orc armies to the far reaches of the Internet.
First, MDB, then Fonzi, now there's Ekm. I'm beginning to believe in reincarnation.
ekm is a Zbig wannabe. An Warsaw Pact exile who wants to exact revenge on the Soviet Union. Check the chessboard avatar, which, BTW, I keep insisting he change to a checkers board, as he's not very good at it.
LOL its just a few different Zio's. No matter whichspeaks, they all say the same thing.
A perfect match would be your face wrapped around a baseball bat
It is morons like you who get millions of people killed....all for your self declared 'Just cause'
And we are helping zerohedge survive on the internet against dipshit commentary like yours.
Much juster cause.
SHOW THE PROOF .. STICK THE PROPAGANDA UP YOUR NOSE. EKM has got to be a Baltic state troll.. who likes other people fighting his battles.
Close, just a little bit worse than a Baltic state troll, he is an Albanian troll. Small country with no balls just a BIG mouth. Ever since Skanderbeg died they have just degenerated from a great people to a pimple on the ass of Europe.

When I read responses such as those below, I am so reminded of Winston Churchill's lonely struggle to awaken Britain to its hour of danger.
I could never understand why seemingly smart people allowed WWII to happen, but now I have gained an insight that is both enlightening and extremely disquieting.
There is little we can personally do except arm and wait for the inevitable outbreak of war once again. It won't be stopped.
Most of his time was taken drinking or waking from his drunken slumber. He did have a good speech writer though.
Oh give up ekm1 you're neither smart or remotely funny....please go take a few lessons from MDB before we have to read your idiot level crap again
Yes and what a great track record the US has in that field.... And actually, you should have said survive as a "state" and not 'nation" since that is a completely different concept. The nation was doing fine, but the election results for the 'state' didn't fit us policy too well....
are you sure your are not referring to Obongo when you speak of mass murder ?
Where do you get the info ? Tell us we need a good laugh
Geez, if you want to join the NWO these days first you have to be blown to smithereens. Mayswell take your chances being an American.
LOL. That is sadly and ironically hilarious. They obviously have better schools on your planet.
This is gonna end so well... now let's see what Russia does in response... they will give the separatists even more tanks? They will send (openly) russian officers to train the rebels?
Yeah, I guess at this point you would see tit-for-tat escalation.
You can send all the advisers you want, but the momentum and ferocity is on the Novorussian side in the east.
These guys will be worse than ARVNs.
I suspect this will either end with Russian tanks in Kiev or a nuclear exchange. Or both.
I better dig out my old fallout shelter plans or take the whole family back to India.
Tit-for-tat can also de-escalate. Especially when the adversaries know what the ultimate tits are.
MAD REDUX
The ultimate tit is in the whitehouse. We're fucked, unless the Russkies can totally outmanuver us on this one. Sending a batallion in makes war just that much more likely. We didn't go to war when Stalin was in charge of the USSR, but now Putin is going to do what Stalin, one of the worst monsters in all of recorded history didn't?
That should buy you a few months until the radiation poisoning kills you.
Learn the prevailing wind patterns and the targets. There are safe places. The southern hemisphere is best, but don't plan on getting there. The southwestern part of my state should be pretty good.

Newt: It won't make any difference.
Keep in mind, this is from 1963.

And here is something to keep you awake at night...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_SUNSHINE
On January 18, 1955 Dr. Willard Libby said that there was insufficient data regarding the effects of fallout due to a lack of human, mainly children, samples to analyze. Dr. Libby was quoted saying, "I don't know how to get them, but I do say that it is a matter of prime importance to get them, and particularly in the young age group. So, human samples are often of prime importance, and if anybody knows how to do a good job of body snatching, they will really be serving their country." This led to over 1,500 samples being gathered, of which only 500 were analyzed.[3] Many of the 1,500 sample cadavers were babies and young children, and were taken from countries from Australia to Europe. Often taken without their parents consent and knowledge. Based on the investigation, which was launched after a British newspaper, reported that British scientists had obtained children’s bodies from various hospitals and shipped their body parts to the United States. A British mother had said that her stillborn baby's legs were removed by the British doctors. She was forbidden to dress her daughter for her funeral in order to prevent the mother from finding out what had happened.[4]
Best place to be in case of a nuclear exchange in my opinion is South America.
This is not really a good idea.
This is how Wars start.
If the US does deploy even about a battalion, I would look for a response by the RF, perhaps in Cuba or Venezuela.
Whoever is ordering Miss Barrie to do this must be on crack.
I bet it's Icky Vicky Nudelman. That broad cracks the whip and DC men jump like trained seals.
Tomorrow Netanyahu will tell Barry
"I will call off Nuland in Ukraine if you do just one leetle, itsy bitsy tiny teeny wee thing for me - nuke the sh*t out of Iran"
Nuclear deathwish.
Edit: I say some crass shit, I'm confrontational. When I see a down vote for me pointing out the march to nuclear war sans any politics I know this place has been infiltrated with a class of people that should have been spread across an ass cheek or bedsheet instead of given full mammalian pregnancy fruition and birth.
Don't take it personal,
I got a Florida fudgepacker that always downvotes me too.
Meh, fuck'em, IR. Anybody who ignores history or says "It's different this time!" is betting a lot more than just *their* life on it being different. And my stance on this is that there are no good guys in this, but the US is stirring shit up more than anybody else. I take solice in knowing that if this does wind up with ICBMs flying, Langly and all of the NSA sites are going to get fucking hammered. If they participate in causing a nuclear war, they deserve to experience that nuclear war first hand, fireball and all. I've talked to people who have watched them go off. Unless something has changed in the past 6 months, I still know somebody who has watched them go off. This is not something that any sane person wants.
US military soon to add being defeated by a bunch of ethnic Russian Ukrainian miners and labourers to its Hall of Glory. I gues it's not as bad as being whooped by a bunch of Afghan goatherds or Vietnamese rice farmers.
The US military has not won a single battle (let alone a campaign) in the last 50 years in which it did not have complete air and logistic superiority. Good luck doing it in Russia's backyard.
Washington better off stick to outsourced false-flag avents. Not that it works, but at least they get to save some face.
If you look at it from the banksters' perspective it makes sense. Create an unwinnable war to attach blame for an ultimate dollar collapse. All kinds of profits to be had while bankrupting a country (even more).
Problem with that hypothesis is, the bankers will be every bit as fucked as the rest of us if the nukes start flying. I guaran-ass-tee that the financial centers are targeted, and those ICBMs are fast. But not as quick to get here as the SLBMs. Given the risk, it is not something that makes sense, even from their perspective. The only conclusions are that they have some deal that is dirty as fuck, they are dumb as fuck, or they are ignorant as fuck. History is clear. I'll let you narrow it down.
Its not winning, or losing, its about the heads of the military/security/industrial complex getting their bonuses, and keeping the sheep entertained.
Perpetual war is the new normal for Oceania.
WOW! The warmongers in Washington DC are really desperate.
Either that or 'relentless' in their incessant march.
It's almost alien (Klingon/cling-on, Borg-like) or reptilian in its singular purpose. To use sci-fi imagery as a metaphor.
BTW, it occurs to me that this ammo scare (5.56mm M855/SS109) may be a cover for redirecting said ammo to Ukraine.
If I were the Rebels or Ruskies, I'd invest more in DRAGONSKIN armor, or have the Chinese crank up their production for knock-off copies. Given that Titanium comes mostly from Russia, I am amazed that its shipment has not been halted to the US already, and redirected to China.
I wonder how long this president will last before someone sends a drone to the white house
I go to bed everynight with the wish that when I wake up I will hear the great news that Washington is gone for good.
I dont think about it every day, but I do recognize that the greatest blessing to mankind would be Washington and Tel Aviv to dissapear in entirity and soon.
Sodom and Gomorrah
Lot may want to grab up the kids and get out of town.
If you are thinking economic collapse, yes, that could happen. If you think the Russians will show restraint in a nuclear exchange, well, I'm not going to say that it's not possible, but that's because occasionally pipe dreams do come true.
With the US / Saudi involvement in engineering the collapse of the USSR VERY fresh in the minds of most Russians, along with US (CIA) material support (at least) for the insurgents in various regional conflicts since that collapse, AND the widespread poverty arising from the collapse, don't expect Russia to be showing ANY restraint.
It is "Time for Revenge", and like the Chinese, they have very long, very clear memories.
Payback is going to be a very "Nuclear Option" sort of bitch . . . . .
Simply astounding what we will do for our TBTJ captors to obfuscate their financial asset ponzi. Everyone should liquidate long duration financial assets and buy gold... It would expose the financial asset ponzi and end the tyranny of TBTF.
It's a testament to how asleep most folks (zombies) are, to this day. We will eventually have to use deadly force to protect ourselves from them.
This is so fucked up.
Of course this is fucked up. We all see it. It is surprising how many of the so called 'sheep' see it for what it is.
Most of the people in the USA do not want a war with anyone, so why is DC constantly waging campaigns? It isn't for humanitarian reasons as the hypocrites ignore slaughters in poor black countries.
War for the satanic nwo/illuminati has one rule first, the rest is after.
MAINTAIN HUMANITY UNDER 500,000,000 IN PERPETUAL BALANCE WITH NATURE
We will turn down an empty glass for you and all the others.
We? I don't think you are high enough on the food chain to stake a claim. Otherwise you wouldn't be spending so much time on this site. But keep believing they will keep a slot open for you in the shelter.
MAINTAIN HUMANITY UNDER 500,000,000 IN PERPETUAL BALANCE WITH NATURE
What a croc of shit that is anyway. Even if it ever did get to that number, these greedy cocksuckers at the top [of which a handful might remain], would just start wars with each other for each others slice of the pie.
6 billion is no different from 500,000,000

What could go wrong? I can't imagine Putin dropping a bomb on that party.
NATO and the USSA haven't been successful enough with their attempts to provoke Russia/Putin into a direct military confrontation. Now they're going to kick it up a notch and try poking the Russian Bear with a sharper stick. They need Russia to respond with open military retaliation. Then they'll begin hysterically screaming to the rest of the world about "naked Russian aggression" and launch a full scale land assault against the Russian homeland.
The West will not be denied in their efforts to start WWIII.
I'm sure the American planners already decided which cities here they are willing to sacrifice. Funny how this works. All we have to do not to have a nuclear war is not to spend money we don't have and to not bring all that sh_t over there. Nah, too simple.
The real crime comes when Russia (once again) refuses to engage in global slaughter. Something tells me this time around the psychopaths in DC might just decide that, since they're willing to expend a couple of cities, they might as well go ahead and be sure they get expended.
Well ~ since we appear to be determined to go full retard here and debate nuclear exchanges...
Putin would get 10x more mileage out of the affair if he were to nuke Tel Aviv... The problem with that would be that nukes start flying EVERYWHERE... [I mean ~ fucking Feinstein, upon hearing the news, would charge right in there & push the buttons herself ~ & NOT because she was worried about California]...
Instead ~ if it turned out to be some American city, the 'retaliation' factor would likely be muted as soon as everyone woke the fuck up [NOT because cities were getting nuked, but because March Madness was getting pre-empted]...
Those two hypothesis really should tell anyone they need to know about the conflict.
See what happens ---> http://nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/
I am not responsible for lost productivity...
"and launch a full scale land assault against the Russian homeland."
Which will quickly become a full scale, shame faced retreat. You don't fuck with Russian in their own back yard.
What morons. How fucking stupid are the dipshits in DC and the military?
Okay, it's obvious how stupid they are, but this could be more dangerous than all of the economic theft they've done over the past few decades, by far.
Hang this buzzard around the neck of US State and civilian advisers in the Pentagon .. not sure how many good guys are left in general staff at Pentagon .. mot have beecome career uber alles .. but look up Thomas Barnett .. Pentagon civilian adviser .. advised Clinton and Bush now working provate .. but he advanced . or shilled The Pentagon's New Map .. its a theory and a plan posed after end of Cold War about how the US .. West could not let the grass grow under its feet and had to take the bull by the horns and just take over .. has not worked out well... Balkans .. Syria, Libya, Iraq .. Egypt managed to slip out of the noose thanks ot its military .. ours . is a cluster fuck . regaulars.. the real money and effort is in special operations out of Tampa and international spec. ops... some units still good .. but a lot a... A LOT are hollowed out.. this is not going to end well. The disinfo artists are now claiming taht Russia was responsible for some break down in internet cable system in Arizona .. the game is on .. have your iodide pills ready. This guy is a real dick .. but if you read his ideas.. you know where all this is headed... http://thomaspmbarnett.com/the-pentagons-new-map
I watched a few of his videos from 2011 on Youtube about the Pentagon's New Map.
Odd what a difference a few years make to show just how much he got dead wrong. He actually called Libya a "success" in 2011.Too bad I can't offer him a one-way plane ticket to Benghazi or Tripoli so he can witness up close and personal his "success" today.
Guess the morons in DC feel pretty good about their bunkers, and dont really care much about the rest of us.
Perhaps, but you can be sure they played out every scenario and contingency. It's what the DOD does. The entire Deep State is on board. The real question in this Texas Hold 'Em is how Russia will respond, other than with rhetoric, more military drills and threats.
It's difficult: if they do nothing, the Provocations escalate relentlessly. If they respond military/symmetrically, the US gets what it wants: ongoing encirclement of Russia since WW2.
But time is running short for both sides: for the bankrupt Ukes, Putin and Russia on defense, the BRIICS under currency and economic pressure...
Tough (slow-boil) situation, hard times, harder choices.
Another "Red Line" of Putin's (according to many posters) is getting crossed in a week. Just like Libya was a red line not to be crossed. Just like Syria was a big red line that Putin would go to a hot war over.
Russia/Putin brought this upon themselves. No fortitude, no actions, just hot air regarding Iraq, Serbia, Libya, Syria and others. Russia watched as important allies were eliminated one by one. Even with Ukraine Putin would not act. The NATO countries and Israel have learned they can persistently push Russia back to within it's borders.
Considering the econimic issues in the west if Russia had grown a pair many years ago then Russia would be in a very strong position now with control of key middle east associations.
This is not chess playing, it is weakness and taking short term profits by the Russia elite over the survivability of Russia.
If EUke falls then Crimea will be subjected to covert attacks that will distract Russia and make them look weaker.
Uh...yeah. Great thinking if you're a war mongering psychopath.
Go back to watching war documentaries on the History channel in your war room. We don't need "thinkers" like you in the general public. but thanks anyway...
I think he should put up or shut up: enlist. I'd love to "Thank you for your service".
But the war mongering elite never do.
Why would they? Goyim fight and die with such willingness and ease. Hell, some of them even like to kill, and the Army has devised training programs to ensure that the majority of the 'troops' can be turned into remorseless killers. Compared to WWII soldiers (draftees from most walks of life aside from first wave of volunteers) this bunch has no conscience.
See the Army has figured out that letting trainees kill people in video games (advanced simulations) helps to reduce their reluctance to kill. This is well documented and perhaps the rise of first-person shooter games was not just a coincidence?
Hmm.
Are you fucking insane? I was aboard a nuclear submarine during the Cold War. It's not a matter of if this escalates into conflict, but when. And the losing side will be left with no choice but to go nuclear. Then Europe is gone, promptly followed by the United States and Russia. Nobody lives. Everyone dies. My hope is you are at ground zero, just so you can feel your eyes melt. But you wont be able to scream, because your entire respiratory system will be char-boiled in less time then it took me to complete this sentence.
Its OK, there is always duck and cover to fall back on.
Ground Zero aint bad at all...hell I Would PRAY for a ground zero burst, anything outside of the heat and winds is terrible, slow death.
I have to agree with you 100%...
When you sit aboard a nuclear sub and happen to be the ship's yeoman, you get to read all sorts of interesting documents. I particularly enjoyed the ones in the bright yellow binders that were all about possible nuclear scenarios, fall-out patterns, and targeting to cause maximum damage to cities, infrastructure, and basically everything else that would happen once the ICBMs left their silos.
Everyone dies, if not immediately, then a lot more slowly and painfully from radiation poisoning.
Radiation poisoning? Are you kidding?
What will kill the most people is the failure of the supply chain and water supply system. Tens to hundreds of millions will discover they have no idea how to get food or clean water.
I live very, very close to a major ground zero. It's exactly where I'd want to be too. My roommate tried to convince me to flee. I told my plan is to flee even closer to ground zero if I possibly can.
According to my research, I live w/in the instant vaporization zone of a Topol-M so it's all good.
The elites within those elaborate bunkers had better enjoy them for the next 100,000 years.
I was there too, Cheech. It's been happening on this planet for 10's of thousands of years. Rinse, repeat. Tell ya what, if I have to choose between all out nuc war and my grandkids living as slaves to the bankster class for their entire life, I choose nuc war.
Seems that we had some guy say the same thing about 240 yrs ago. Patrick Henry. And I will bet you that Putin is saying something similar.
"If Russia will invade Ukraine, why would we not think they will invade the US next?" Hmmm, quite possibly logistics? What a fucking idiot.
Please, someone needs to slip as much LSD as they can find and slip it into the Colonel's favorite beverage...
Because if this is how he really thinks, he'll be the one firing the shot that sets the entire world ablaze.
I have not heard anyone in US military speak in years without bad gut feeling about.
2012 BHO lying to Medvedev.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uI0DYcHtTlI
Reading some of the responses the good thing is that those who before claimed Putin was a scary guy are admitting he will not act and there is no red line (other than Russia's border). (And this includes Iran after Syria.)
First lets dismiss your claim of having been on a nuc sub.. You have no concept of what ground zero is like. You are not going to stand there and "feel your eyes melt". It will not be like Indiana Jones.
Then lets look at your logic. You say it is certain the conflict will escalate, it will become direct and the losing side will definently go nuclear. Well then, would it have not been better for Russia to have grown a pair and protect Iran or at least grown a pair when Libya was attacked? What is the plan?
Let us not forget all the people in the countries/allies that Russia let be murdered and their countries destroyed. The actions of Putin have not gone unnoticed by China and I doubt China will step up to assist a Russia that sacrifices it's allies without firing a shot.
At least we can forgo the noise about Putin being ready to directly confront NATO at any level. You can go back to claiming his allowing all allies to be destroyed, the ME taken control, new NATO bases next to Russia and possibly being kicked out of the Swift system is just great chess playing by Putin.
Do you really want to go down this road Stumpy?
>First lets dismiss your claim of having been on a nuc sub..
I served aboard two US fast attack submarines, as a nuclear reactor operator. All I need to do is give my real name, and in a few minutes you can verify my service by simply using google.
So let's press on...
>At least we can forgo the noise about Putin being ready to directly confront NATO at any level.
Here's an exercise for you. Its a simple one. It's called a side by side comparison
http://www.newrepublic.com/article/116967/nato-no-position-protect-easte...
http://www.globalfirepower.com/country-military-strength-detail.asp?coun...
I give NATO about 24 hours before the US will have to step in. By that time, NATO as an effective fighting force will be out of the picture.
Last but not least Stumpy, show everyone you have a pair, enlist today.
Upvote for you sir.
WRT to the commenter above you: I've never known someone who spouts propaganda that thick to be in or want to be in the military.
Because that takes balls, whether you're a mercenary occupying other countries, or a patriot defending your country from foriegn invaders.
Please note that I do not consider the current USMIL to be anything but the former. Nonetheless it takes a certain amount of courage to sign your life over for years to some other person's control, or maybe it's youthful brashness.
But one thing I do know is that war's biggest cheerleaders are those who have never experienced combat, or those who have not known combat veterans or done any historical research.
Here's a great start for learning what happens to armies that invade Russia:
Fighting in Hell: http://www.amazon.com/Fighting-Hell-German-Ordeal-Eastern/dp/0804116989
"Based on the recollections of four veteran German commanders of those battles, FIGHTING IN HELL describes in detail what happened when the world's best-publicized "supermen" met the world's most brutal fighting. It is not a tale for the squeamish."
Warhawks don't like true first hand accounts and never subject themselves to real danger.
REMF writ large. And in real life when I hear some dipshit spouting off about the 'evil Putin' I just laugh, shake my head, and walk away.
Exits comment window laughing and shaking head at the commenter above you, after downvoting him of course...
Speaking as former military, one of my favorite movie scenes is Kelly's heroes where they confront the SS tank commander just before they blow the bank. Telly Savalas' comments were great.
Hey, if Russian landing craft come ashore in the US, I have no problem going to war.
But this overreach since 1945 has been too much, and too much has been wasted.
Korea was the last time we fought an invader under the UN. That was, to this day, a no-win situation as there is still only a cease-fire in effect!
Come on............ I was told if I hid under a table I would be OK.
I know that submariners are subject to some pretty awful mess, but besides the shortcomings of your particular galley, won't our entire respiratory system be char-broiled?
I see several possibilities, which I don't claim to be exhaustive by any means.
1 - Russia is following the Sun Tsu doctrine of appearing weak to lull an enemy into a false sense of security, while also refusing to engage in any meaningful way. This seems most likely to me considering the way they artfully thwarted the US's attempt to engage in a full-scale invasion of Syria.
2 - Russia knows that any confrontation with the US will rapidly escalate to full-scale nuclear war. which they want to avoid at any cost. Just like they knew this in the late 80s when, the people who are now the leaders of the nation, managed to stop a military initation of a first-strike launch and chose the disintegration of the Soviet Union over mass murder.
3 - A combination of 1 and 2, where Russia is buying time to win over Europe by refusing to retaliate to blatantly obvious provocations, proving to Germany (in particular) that they are a saner, safer option than the USA. Thus, even if the conflict does eventuate there will be no push from Europe to go nuclear to save themselves, meaning that the USA will have to attempt to engage Russia in a convential attack from the East rather than the West - meaning they have to go through China first.
... berf.
If a wider war happens - something larger than the Balkans or Georgia, then its only because each side wants a wider conflict for their mutual internal consumption.
Sadly it seems Putin's internal dissent mirrors that of Obama and the Democrats and the Fed.
Watch Belarus and Poland.
Draft begins next door.

That Nobel Peace Prize is going to get worn out.
I suspect we have been wrong about that. It must be the Nobel Pieces Prize, 'cause Bath House has blown everything he's touched to smithereens.
We would all be so much better off if he stuck to just blowin' Reggie.
Well, Nobel did invent dynamite afetr all....
We need a Nobel War prize, then we could stop pretending to destroy countries to bring them peace and freedom.
It would (will?) certainly be a major blow to the credibility of the Nobel Committee should their Peace Prize Winner be the one who deliberately lit the fuse to start WW3
(Not that any Committee members will be around to ponder this turn of events once things "get underway")
They gave him that because 'everybody is equal and everybody has to get a trophy or it will hurt their self-esteem', like the kid on the little league team that never shows up for practice, sucks when he gets in the game, and who's parents complain when the coaches and team recognize and call out the slacker.
That's BHO. A foreigner with sealed records (nothing to hide if nothing to fear, right Barry?) who commands people to murder others with no conscience.
A real psychopath. A perfect represenation of everyone who voted for him, and sadly of everyone who voted for the other psychopath in either election.
Fuck voting for psychopaths. Fuck the lying liars on the TV.
I do not consent. I do not vote. I do not listen to them or their childish edicts.
In short: FUCK EM
We can see this happening, 'they' know it's happening - the consequences are clear. What is wrong with mankind?
Megalomaniac psychopaths always desire power, where normal people just want to play frisbee with their dog. That's what is wrong with mankind.
Looks like a war and quacks like a war. When does the draft start Mr. Nobel Peace Prize?
Hohoho, by the time they try to get a draft going, there is going to be nothing but a smoking hole in the ground in "Murica!
That's what the national guard is for... keeping the priveliged children out of the messy places.
Knew several Vietnam era guys in Louisiana who used their daddys' connections to get them a safe posting in the LA NATL GUARD, while the poor draftees like my uncle and stepdad were deployed. Uncle was killed in an ambush near the end of his tour, and stepdad died of cancer likely due to agent orange exposure, as he was a door gunner on Chinooks and he said they spent a lot of time spraying and handling barrels of AO.
But the VA denied his claims and the illness bankrupted him and my mom.
anybody that volunteers for the USMIL at this point, with this government, is an idiot or a psychopath save for those in complete economic desperation. The economic draft is in full effect in Rutherford County NC I can tell you that for sure.
Jobs? Recovery? Around here that's abandoned factories and empty storefronts. And the JROTC programs (bigger than the football team at the local HS) busting at the seams with future Devil Dogs.
But I don't believe that bunch is doing it out a desire to protect America (fuck yeah). It's because they/'re not rich, not college material, and because there just aren't any jobs for HS grads here outside of retail if you don't have connections in one of the 'industries' that remain here: schools, government, healthcare, and a couple of big box retailers.
"Looks like a war and quacks like a war. When does the draft start Mr. Nobel Peace Prize?"
If you want to get the Sneak Peak of what they're really up to, listen to the last 1.5 minutes (48:00) onward, as I think it's a subconscious slip of his mask...
He first talks about the unique and specialized capabilities of some of the NATO partners (e.g. Baltic states capability in Electronic Warfare), and then goes into the "ARTICLE 5 scenario"** chats/meetings that have been held.
** If one NATO country is attacked (real of FF attack), then it allows other Members to join in the counter attack. Clearly they've planned out who's on board for a Partial Alliance to engage Russian forces, since a full alliance will not happen (no direct combat by French, German, Italian, Greek or other troops), and in what capacity.
It most likely means NATO small-fry being used as disposable Pawns in a quasi proxy war by the US, designed to test out and analyze Russian capabilities (Weapons & Weapon Systems, and its Intelligence, Command, Control and Communication (IC^3) structure), before a direct and broad US-Russia war starts.
Bottom line: If TPTB want to start a war with Russia, they will and there is no way for Russia to escape it. The only way out is to play a different (asymmetric) game, by bringing about economic chaos/crash with the USD, by ramping the BRIICS Bank on a much, much faster timeline than to date.
Effectively, they need to start using non-USD currencies in bilateral trades by this summer, and effectively drop the USD. All else (timeline delays) is self-delusion or planned deceit, and a strategic blunder that will lead to defeat.
Yes, the Americans will bring PEACE and CHICAGO style DEMOCRACY. And then, after about SIX MONTHS, they'll bring in DHS and NSA, and make the whole place just wonderful! Oboy! I think they'd be better off with the Russians.
Why is that the combatants in any war the US supports requires constant American training and weapons while the combatants of the foe seem to win most battles without any special training at all; such as the Vet Cong, the Taliban, ISIS, etc.?
Because if you understand the tactics of your enemy they will always be easy to defeat.
Field officers sent to Vietnam to check on the effects of the training giving to the South Vietnamese all came to the same conclusion. Training cannot instil the will to fight. The ordinary Ukrainian civilians have no will to fight the east Ukrainians but they may have the will to fight the Ukraine regime and the Nazis.
and the will to fight the US soldiers whenever there is the chance to get away with it. Like giving infos to snipers, IED installers etc. Very dangerous job for the US soldiers in my opinion. Too many have died already in Ukraine because of Nuland and company. Too many do feel betrayed and are eager and bloodthirsty and want to kill these American elite soldiers.
Come on folks, the teams have already been picked for WW3. Alliances have been made, commodities stockpiled, munitions prepped, malware deployed...let's see who punches who in the face first.
And those above ground get to witness the effects of nuclear annihilation while the banksters and the rest of the criminals are hiding in deep bunkers.
If that's the case then the banksters will be calling upon their bunkers to fall upon them.
Ever read Children of the Dust? They're just dinosaurs in bunkers, and they'll all slowly fade to extinction.
Although the conspiracies of "lizards living under ground" will probably be true after a couple of generations.
That's why the flamethrower was invented.
The USMC used them to great effect against bunkers in the Pacific, and the Army in the European theater, although not as famously.
Kill it with fire.
Colonel Foster, please refuse to lead these men and our country into this mess.
You have not been given lawful orders.....be the Patriot we so badly need.
He has a choice. He can follow suit or he can find himself black-bagged, drugged and begging for a sex change. It's how /they/ deal with "patriots".
There are some patriots in the military. Those leadership who come through the academies just need a proper route through which to make their changes - it's not likely that many of them will spontaneously break bad, but there is a 100th monkey scenario that could occur. I used to work and interact with cadets at West Point during the run up to Iraq and during, while these guys were awaiting their deploy. Now I was working with a certain segment of the cadets who tended to be exposed to alternative ideas as a part of the activity we shared - many of them found a way to openly speak out against the war, but only because there was a legal and proper route available for them to speak in this way. I know that sounds cryptic, but it's meant to convey that many of the young leaders aren't idiots, but they also follow a pretty tight program and won't stray until a pocket for resistance is created.
They are not patriots. They are paid muscle.
They do what they are told.
Those with conscious are jailed and hunted.
While they are there they could practice on Moldovia.
Here is the full interview with Colonel Foster: "If Russia will invade Ukraine, why would we not think they will invade the US next?"
What a complete retard, perhaps the little mouse that powers his brain fell off its treadmill.
This is what we get with today's Army. Colonel Foster. OMFG. Colonel, isn't there a gay guy or a lesbian that you can just give the mic to? What's next, Colonel? "If Russia will invade Ukraine, why would we not think that they would work with the reptilian lizard men to bore a hole right through the Earth to come up under the Lincoln Memorial, Huh, Well, really guys, we've studied this shit!"
FFS, who the fuck is running this chicken outfit? We know it ain't fuckin' John Wayne. It's more like Colonel Foster, the pharmacist, fire captain, actuary, or whatever-the-fuck he is in his real job.
He reminds me of the captain of the national guard in the first Rambo movie when they had Rambo holed up in that abandoned mine. Don't tell me you guys don't remember that! I know y'all are busting a gut right now!! Ha!
He sounds more like colonel klink. The "us is next" comment is pure onion. He's either certified batshit, a complete moron or funnier than hell.
Aussiekiwi: "If Russia will invade Ukraine, why would we not think they will invade the US next?"
You misunderstood/misquote. Go to the 10:52 mark and listen again: you will hear that he was referring to a general in Lithuania, who was referring to Lithuania as "us", not to "the US".
The case being made is that the Baltics and Poles are 'scared', and that is the official PR and dogma being broadcast in constant 'Replay' mode - a la Edward Bernays style.
Thanks Kirk, I stand corrected, thats what I get for just reading the headlines and skimming the video.
http://www.eur.army.mil/173abct/BDE/173CDR.html
COL Michael Foster was commissioned as an Infantry Officer upon graduation from the United States Military Academy in 1990.
1990? Probably has been brainwashed into thinking they can possibly win in Russia's backyard. Someone needs to remind this gung-ho idiot they just signed a peace treaty, and while it may be tenuous at best, it is still a peace treaty.
We are so fucked.
He doesn't seem to recognize the 5000 mile difference between invading Ukraine and invading the US. What a numb nuts.
1990? In other words, he's two years old.
Brainwashing is all that place does. They were talking about war with the USSR back in '87. It's as if the USSR never fell.
Wonder what the boys in DC would think if the Russians sent over a battalion to say Virginia or Kentucky to help train a local start up Militia ??
Two different things totally. If they wanted to train Canadians or Mexicans (neighboring countries) go for it.
If we sent a battalion to someplace inside Russia, that would be a problem. But even Russia currently acknowledges that all of the action taking place is happening inside the borders of Ukraine-- a enighboring country that is free to do what it wants inside its own territory just the same way that Russia claims internal sovereignity.
How about Mr. Putin sending some army units to Texas to stop the Mexican onslaught?
Mr. Obama seems to have forgotten that responsibility.
