Despite Russian Warnings, US Will Deploy A Battalion To Ukraine By The End Of The Week

Tyler Durden's picture

"Before this week is up, we’ll be deploying a battalion... to the Ukraine to train Ukrainian forces for the fight that's taking place," stated US 173rd Airborne Brigade Commander Colonel Michael Foster said at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC on Monday. Despite earlier warnings from Russia (and claims that NATO had not agreed to any such foreign 'boots on the ground' action'), Sputnik News reports, Foster added, "what we’ve got laid out is six United States companies that will be training six Ukrainian companies throughout the summer."

This comes a week after PM David Cameron confirmed Britain will be sending 75 military personnel to help combat Russian military aggression.

Despite earlier reports from Russia's NATO envoy that, as TASS reports,

NATO has taken no decisions on sending British or any other instructors to Ukraine, Russia’s Ambassador to the North Atlantic Alliance Alexander Grushko said on Monday.

"NATO has taken no decisions on sending instructors," he told the Rossiya 24 television channel. "NATO is implementing the decisions that were taken at the political level at the Wales summit in September 2014."

Moscow will take all measures, including military-technical, to neutralize possible threat from NATO presence in Ukraine, he added.

It seems it is happening, as Sputnik News reports,

The United States will deploy personnel by the end of this week to train the Ukrainian national guard, US 173rd Airborne Brigade Commander Colonel Michael Foster said at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC on Monday.

“Before this week is up, we’ll be deploying a battalion minus… to the Ukraine to train Ukrainian forces for the fight that’s taking place,” Foster stated. “What we’ve got laid out is six United States companies that will be training six Ukrainian companies throughout the summer.”

...

The current plan is for US forces to stay six months, he said, and noted there have been discussions about how to increase the duration and the scope of the training mission.

The current channels for military training set up between Ukraine and the United States would not be used for transferring defensive lethal aid if the United States decided to provide arms to Ukraine, Foster told Sputnik on Monday.

“It would go through something separate... We would not funnel the lethal aid or arms through that [training] event, we would use a secondary method for that,” Foster said, adding that a completely separate process is preferable.

Here is the full interview with Colonel Foster: "If Russia will invade Ukraine, why would we not think they will invade the US next?"

At 14:45, Colonel Foster discusses the deployment of US troops to Ukraine...

Of course, we already knew American military boots were on the ground in east Ukraine...

But this seems like a direct aim at Putin after the war-mongery rhetoric this morning:

Meanwhile in Moscow the murder investigation grinds on. This is an interesting take, use salt as normal as a 'biased' site

The Nemtsov murder investigation has focused on the theory that the crime was organized by a Chechen militant commander Adam Osmayev, of the Dzhokhar Dudayev battalion, who also was named in the case concerning the attempt to assassinate Vladimir Putin. Investigators are allowing for the possibility that the militants, who fought against DPR and LPR, operated at the behest of Ukrainian secret services, since the murder of the opposition leader would have discredited the Russian leadership and destabilize the political situation.

http://fortruss.blogspot.co.uk/2015/...vs-murder.html

And how about this take on how quickly they got stuff produced for the march? Photos at link.

Here is a thought. Goncharenko, of course is trouble. But if we shift our attention from his face and look below, then this photo of March 1st begs a question.

A t-shirt with quality four-color print and the words in the Ukrainian language. March on March 1st. The murder took place almost at midnight on February 28. A little more then 24 hours before this photo.

That is, someone choking on tears, had to on February 28 run to order a batch of these t-shirts, and prudently - a batch in the Ukrainian language. He had to do a layout, divided by colors, to make the t-shirt, pick it up from the shop and organize the distribution to the right people - you will not hand out such an expensive item to random people. Ukrainian for Ukrainians, Russian for non-Ukrainians. At the same time to place an order for standard pictures of the deceased, to make a large number of the same posters. While some of the posters (again typographic quality) was created on the basis of slogans suggested on the evening of February 28 (i.e., a half a day before the March), suggested by Khodorkovsky's "Open Russia" on Twitter:

At 22:53 on February 28 the masses got their slogans to use at the March, and after 12 hours (of which 8 are at night) the March is provided with a huge number of posters (with handles already taped to the canvas) with those same slogans.

Actually, yesterday's march was just full of such details. The wonders of operations and instant reaction. As if they knew.

I wonder, were these t-shirts and all these posters ordered exactly on February 28 or before? So to speak, during his lifetime?

Kristina Rus: This entire circus looks like a part of one big production, were the picture is the goal and media is a part of the act

Could someone please arrest Colonel Michael Foster.  He needs to be locked up as he is a danger to society.  If there is no room in the US jail, release a few drug trafficers.  At least they satisfy a market demand.

The Lies that come out of the USA ................No wonder they have troubles World Wide.  To bad truths were not high on their Agenda. Maybe they they could get support from others but alas.............It seems that behind the curtain, the goings on are not for Mainstreet but the Elite and those that control the Power do so for their profits.

Hannibal, Also look at pictures of the march and all the Russian flags are the same, size. pole height, etc. I guess they only make them in one size there.

Actually, yes it can and would be smart. Russia has a ridiculous amounts of medium range cruise missiles, and nuclear tipped capable. If they decide to launch a couple of those at some US bases found in Europe and sink a couple of ships at begginning of conflict, and fast, that in itself could stop the war as then they know ot could get even more ugly. Russia is sparsly populated so even if they get nuked, there will still be areas largly unaffected, while US has those too, they may not be as habital (desert vs large semi permafrost land).

Of course it won't. The Wall Street banksters would fire the first shot, if anyone did---and even they won't do that except as a very last resort. Use nukes on an enemy that can respond in kind? It never pays to underestimate the banksters' intelligence, let's give the devil his due in this regard.

They're saving the nukes for the unlikely event of a second American Revolution that makes their overthrow by their own debt-slaves a real possibility. The targets are the USA's own major population centres. The banksters go down, they'll see to it that we'll go down with them, and stay down. Nothing worth eating will grow in topsoil salted with cobalt-60.

Let's have a war
So you can go and die!
Let's have a war!
We could all use the money!
Let's have a war!
We need the space!
Let's have a war!
Clean out this place!
It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!
There's so many of us
There's so many of us
There's so many
There's so many of us
There's so many of us
There's so many [x2]
Let's have a war!
Jack up the Dow Jones!
Let's have a war!
It can start in New Jersey!
Let's have a war!
Blame it on the middle-class!
Let's have a war!
We're like rats in a cage!
It already started in the city!
Suburbia will be just as easy!
There's so many of us
There's so many of us
There's so…

I don't buy it.  First, these announcements are made by the Public Affairs Office at the Pentagon, not at some dinner club speach.  Second, this guy is way too low on the totem pole to be authorized to make such an announcement.  I smell dung of cattle big time.

Time to send a few bombers down the east and west coast of the usa to remind obama what's at stake, at the same time a couple of subs in the Gulf of mexico might do the trick, although if the reports are right, it was a couple of weeks before thay were detected by the us forces. But then that would be banging the drum, wouldn't it ?.

Gulf of Mexico is where the "hole" is in US defences - a few SLBMs or Stand-off missiles launched around there should be enough

Whoever planned this, figured murdering Nemtsov in the shadow of the Kremlin right before the march, would automatically indict Putin.

This plot to get Putin was so stupid it can only have been carried out by the Ukrainian Secret Service.  The same clowns that shot down MH17.

I predict this will be a booming success!  We have loads of experience with training feckless foreign armies and turning them into lean, mean, fighting machines.  It worked marvelously well in Syria, Georgia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Vietnam, and I am sure it will work equally well in Ukraine!  Bullish!
