And they saved it only for one reason: Hilary was to follow him in the Oral Office immediately after his 8 yr term.

The shit we dug out of that desert dump back in the early 1970's continues to impress the shit out of me. I read this pamphlet last night and currently have it under my left wrist as I type. This is the old standard green government pamphlet, total 93 pages not counting the covers, faded all around the outside cover, and is the 'Seventy-second Edition' on how to become a United States Citizen as well as for Civics courses at the time for "all levels of school--grammar, Junior and High."
Last person to check it out of the library was 10/1/1962 by the name of Rodriguez. (Salute to you Rodriguez, I hope you've been a successful United States Citizen.)
[10/1/1962 I would have been three, and in Oahu, Hawaii where the derelict USS Arizona constantly leaked oil, there was nothing elaborate around the site, and men filled the hospital with horrifying burns and bloody amputations (I equated it all related as a military kid). Mom and I would walk down the hill, through the 'jungle', past the C&H sugar factory, alongside pineapple plantations, to a village and/or church for groceries and/or sundays. Yes, I remember back to being two years old or younger. But I remember places, events and what I was doing. The constant moves meant that people faded pretty quick, and still do, I can't remember a face. But I can remember a location/event related to that face. I was too young to remember Harry Truman holding me in his arms, and too young to remember being on a brief cruise on the Natilus but I'm told those things happened.
The house we lived in had a buddist shrine in a basement area (never got in/knew how to get there), so we had a constant stream of penitant buddists praying out on the side of the road along side the house. Me, I'd climb the mango tree, find one, take it to the neighbor lady to cut up because the smell made my pregnant mom throw up.
It would be nice to return to something like that period.]
