The following video of LAPD officers gunning down a homeless man in broad daylight is rightly getting a lot of attention. It’s not as if it was one officer dealing with a dangerous situation who panicked. There was a mob of police officers surrounding the victim, and rather than dealing with the situation like courageous, decent adults, they went ahead and treated the man like target practice.
As we see with oligarch theft, this is the sort of thing you can expect more of when certain above-the-law groups in society fail to be held accountable for their actions.

Not all jurisdictions allow the police to have tasers. San Francisco, for example, has steadfastly argued against letting them have tasers. Don't forget that a few years ago, a guy got shot by the BART (local transit) police on a New Year's Eve when the cop accidentally got his gun out when he was reaching for his taser.

sad but true. i left the USA for good after a mexican immigrant cop held me up at gunpoint for talking on a speakerphone in my car, while parked in a university parking lot (i was a professor at that university). i was born and raised in the USA... so it's hard for me to understand how a mexican national on a power trip is awarded a gun/badge and the right to threaten to murder whomever he pleases. it was even harder for me to believe that the judge sided with the cop at my "talking on a cell in a car" ticket hearing, and actually doubled the maximum fine against me just for "wasting [his] time by coming to court rather than just paying the ticket to begin with." he actually refused to listen to the fact that i was held at gunpoint for talking LEGALLY in a parked car, in a parking spot.

i heard "drop the gun" like three times before the they started shooting. he was probably armed and high as a kite. sadly, a goodly portion of america's homeless are complete raving loons who should be institutionalized. since we have no facilities for such folks they either end up in prison or on the street. when on the street, they are habitual self-medicators (judging by the fellow's dance moves at the begining, i am assuming he was under the influence). making the situation even worse, the closest thing we have to an interface between these folks and society is our increasingly paramilitary PO-lease. frankly, i am shocked this doesn't happen more often.
At this point we've seen dozens of cases where cops start beating on an unresisting citizen while screaming "stop resisting" over and over. They know that idiots will hear "drop the gun" or "stop resisting" and believe in the narrative they want.

You actually have that very very very wrong. The war was not fought over "tyrany". The war had nothing to do with taxation/representation issues either. All the propaganda you hear about that is fluff. The "founders" were just as disingenuous as todays politicians, and the public just as malinformed. Large landowners were basically given a deal "support us, or... if we win, you lose everything".
So what was the war ACTUALLY about? Smuggling. The structure of the economy at the time was that all finished goods must be purchased from the empire, while the empire maintained first choice status of specific raw materials and goods. Other goods could be traded to outside nations. This was a necessity, as goods from england could only be paid for in cash..no barter. And raw materials do not command anywhere near the prices of finished goods. So that smuggling thing... tea and other things from the empire had to transit through england, where tax was assessed. The tax was then passed on to the end consumer (american colonists). This was the system for a long long long time. The tax was raised slightly to cover relief for famine in India. For smugglers, this was a windfall. For licensed merchants, it was pure pain. The tax was removed by allowing the ships to travel directly to the colonies, which improved efficiencies, reduced cost, and then settle up on taxes with england on their own. Effectively, this undercut the smugglers to the point where they were facing bankruptcy as most had taken in massive stocks to benefit from the parallel trade.
The tea party? That was a protest over the price falling. These "taxes"? It's no different than if I were to purchase an item at the store here and sell it to you. Congrats, you have effectively been "taxed" in China with zero representation.
