Netanyahu's "Don't Deal With Iran" Speech To Congress - Live Feed

Tyler Durden's picture

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will address the US Congress this morning at 11ET to issue a high-profile warning against what he considers an ill-advised nuclear deal with Iran. This brings to a head weeks of tension between Israel and The White House and numerous politicians (including The President) will boycott be absent during Bibi's speech. In what NYTimes calls an 'implicit challenge to Obama', Bibi plans to outline his case for a tougher strategy to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and to dissect the flaws of an agreement that has been emerging from American-led negotiations; gambling that disclosing compromises the U.S. made in trying to negotiate a nuclear deal with Iran will delay or derail any agreement.

Netanyahu arrives...

As The NY Times reports, for Mr. Netanyahu, the stakes could hardly be higher. Coming just two weeks before Israeli elections, the speech offers an opportunity to build support at home for another term while rallying opposition abroad to a diplomatic accord that he sees as a threat to his country’s security.

It will be, said Abraham H. Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League, “the most important speech of his political life.”

For Mr. Obama, however, it is an extra complication as he seeks to draw Iran into a pact by late March, a complication he worries may embolden lawmakers into intervening.

“I’m less concerned, frankly, with Prime Minister Netanyahu’s commentary than I am with Congress taking actions that might undermine the talks before they’re complete,” he told Reuters on Monday.

At the heart of the dispute between Mr. Obama and Mr. Netanyahu is a debate over the best way to curb Iran’s nuclear program.

The United States, along with European allies, Russia and China, has been negotiating a potential deal in which Iran for at least 10 years would restrict the number of centrifuges it has for enriching uranium and open its program to international inspection.

The goal would be to limit Iran’s capacity so that it would take at least a year to build a nuclear weapon should it choose to violate or break the agreement. In theory, that would give the West enough time to respond. In exchange, international sanctions that have hampered Iran’s economy would be eased.

Mr. Netanyahu argues that Iran cannot be trusted given its history of cheating and hostile statements about Israel. The deal contemplated by the American-led negotiations would give away far too much, he contends. Instead, Mr. Netanyahu and other critics have advocated tightening sanctions and demanding that Iran give up all uranium enrichment.

“I plan to speak about an Iranian regime that is threatening to destroy Israel, that’s devouring country after country in the Middle East, that’s exporting terror throughout the world and that is developing, as we speak, the capacity to make nuclear weapons — lots of them,” Mr. Netanyahu told the Aipac conference on Monday. “Ladies and gentlemen, Israel and the United States agree that Iran should not have nuclear weapons, but we disagree on the best way to prevent Iran from developing those weapons.”

Mr. Obama and his team said they shared the concerns but considered Mr. Netanyahu’s approach unrealistic.

And then there's this...

Right wing radio host would like to see members of the Congressional Black Caucus "hanging from a noose in front of the U.S. Capitol building" for skipping the Netanyahu speech.

The way I see it Rand is doing the same thing just in reverse.. telling the statist, GOP establishment what they want to hear. Just politics. Can't throw the baby out with the bath water.. he's the only one saying we should halt all foreign aid. He's the only one openly against the NSA, completely honest about ISIS and its origins, against protracted foreign wars and provoking Russia. What do you expect him to do? Why are you attempting to excuse or apologize for a liar? That is what you are calling him, right? A liar?

What's really sad is your attitude that everyone should just accept such duplicitous and dishonest behavior as a necessary part of the political process. It's probably fair to say that most people tend to shun the known liars in society. Most people prefer not to be around them or to have anything to do with them.

Clearly you appreciate and enjoy the company of liars and sociopaths. Very strange behavior on your part.

I am sure the Founding Fathers of this country would be proud to know that a leader of a foreign nation is coming to address the Congress of the United States in what is basically a rebutal of the Presidents policy.

Maybe I am old school but my understanding is that a Union means that you stand together first and foremost against foreign influence and put your differences aside. Instead we have what amounts to the POTUS #2 (or maybe #1) coming to address the Congress and tell them what to do. This is wedge that has been driven deep within the fabric of the government and it cant end well.

Maybe our President can go address the Kneset and tell them to stop killing Palestinians, give back the worlds wealth and generally fuck off.

To study the history of the U.S.S.R. under Bolshevism is to shine a light on the current path America is taking.  The truth leads to the perpetrators of the worst mass murders of the 20th century. Therefore, truth must be silenced.

Already, there is no free speech in the gray pages of America’s monopoly-controlled media, and that especially includes the NYT.  Nor was there free speech in Lenin’s cold-blooded Communist revolutionary state: “The press should be not only a collective propagandist and a collective agitator, but also a collective organizer of the masses.” Lenin added, “He who now talks about the ‘freedom of the press’ goes backward, and halts our headlong course towards Socialism.”

Solzhenitsyn suffered greatly for his rich array of sources revealing that the Jews are the leading force of global capital and destruction of the bourgeoisie , i.e., those in the upper or merchant class whose status comes from capitalism.

When asked by Der Spiegel if we are to conclude “that the Jews carry more responsibility than others for the failed Soviet experiment,” Solzhenitsyn replied:

"I avoid exactly that which your question implies…All I am calling for is self-reflection. You can get the answer to your question from the book itself (200 Years Together): Every people must answer morally for all of its past—including the past which is shameful… not to answer before other peoples, but to oneself; to one’s conscience, and before God.”

“The history of the Russian civil war is characterized by the fact that after the Bolsheviks imposed an absolute information blackout toward the outside world, as exclusively as possible all writing on this conflict has been done either by foreign or domestic Jews. … Therefore, it is extraordinarily difficult if not impossible to ascertain exact numbers [of victims] and the circumstances.”

In America today, truth is suppressed and lies encouraged. We must uncover the past to avoid its pitfalls and expose the perpetrators of the killing, slavery and mass destruction, along with their fellow travelers. It is a tyranny takeover.

If Netanyahu is going to address Congress, he should at least be nice enough to be willing to answer questions after giving his speech. I know if I were there, my first question would be "I understand your position on Iran's nuclear program. Would you be so kind as to inform us as to the current status of your own nuclear program, including the total number of active warheads you currently have deployed, and the platforms those warheads are mounted on?"

I would really, really like to see just one of those lame-ass Congress-critters have the balls to stand up and ask something like this.

So it’s Netanyahu we’re worried about; his political future, his concerns and worries, his bravery facing an enemy – all brought to us from the American Jewish house organ, The New York Times.

But it’s not Netanyahu that’s on the spot; it’s the American people, so corralled by the Jewish lobby and the Federal Reserve money that has purchased the ranges of politicians from Boehner to Rand Paul that they have zero representation.

Surely, any thinking America can realize that his political system, his economic system, foreign policy, free speech, and all the rest is cast asunder by the avalanche of fiat money now buying the sword that will make the blood flow again.

As Stephen Lendman writes today on Global Research regarding Netanyahu’s unprecedented affront to US presidential authority,Voters should demand others explain why they intend showing up to support a cold-blooded racist mass-murderer serial liar.”

Israel is a rogue terrorist state.

What has Iran done to the USA? NOTHING! Iran has been attacked by the USA many times. In the 1950s when the democratically elected government of Iran was overthrown by the CIA, MI6 and Mossad. Again when we supplied Saddam Hussien with chemical weapons and Donald Rumsfield personally met with Saddam to wage war on Iran as a USA proxy.

This tribe is in control of this country and we will continued to be attacked as long as we continue to support Iraeli war crimes.

Netanyahu is a lying war criminal.

i saw that in the context of a bible analysis and it looks like we might have a winner here. reference the times this has happened to historical events and something big could happen. i am not a religious person but there have always been a lot of intrigue about the revelations(forecasts) in the bible. my personal theory is not that the forecasts are some god given warnings but a logical algo depicting the probable end of the human race based upon human nature.

intelligence implies input to alter or define direction. there is no intelligence here. human nature has a built in self destruct mechanism that triggers upon a defined set of circumstances(fight or flight). when the human system gets too large for the environment the environment crushes the humans. easter island is a perfect microcosm. in the context of the world, man will kill each other for the last tree.

it is pretty easy to see. the timing is difficult.

Simple arithmetic:

Democrats are throwing the Jews, as a group of their political base overboard and appearing to put them in play.

Republicans, believing the Jews are in play, are making a move to capture them as a voting bloc.

However, this is simply the magician's trick of distraction.

The real play is Obama's move to legalize tens of millions of illegals and capture that voting bloc via freebies.

Iran Will have nukes. They are surrounded by countries that have them that are way more dangerous (loose cannons, Pak., N Korea) than them. If I were Iran I would want what everyone else has too. Israel is not supposed to have nukes either so all this talk is a joke anyway. It's the Hezbolah and Hamas terror groups that Israel will have to worry about. The first nuke that is let off will not come from a sovereign country you can point to immediately. They are too smart for that.

Iran signed a treaty. They are complying with inspections. Not ONE IAEA report has stated that they have failed to do so. And yet, this guy comes trotting into congress making up his own facts to support his agenda.  Israel is the largest nuclear armed state in the region who fails to sign the very treaty Iran is alleged by them only to be violating. Stop listening to this dangerous war monger. He's dangerous for all Americans including his own people. That's the case with ALL inspections.  The inspections are never all encompassing and its impossible to do so.  It's a voluntary agreement that assumes good faith.

Did you know that the UN tried to pass a resolution to insist that Israel submit to inspections as a known nuclear power. They basically gave the UN the bird and Samantha Powers vetoed it. I think that is FAR greater of a threat to world peace than a few grams of U235 that Iran MIGHT possess.

That is one angle, and more popular in recent history, to look at, but does not complete the entire picture for which there are many sides, angles and views.  In other words, it is not as black and white as most make it out to be.  The absence of peace is war; war is meant to inflict damage upon and destroy an enemy.

-

When has there been peace in the middle-east and under what circumstance could there be peace?  I can only think of two possibilities. 1) eliminate mankind, that is a recipe for peace or 2) obey Christ.  Of the two choices, man left to himself, will get to #1 unless #2 intervenes & He will when the time if right.

Israeli government always always always wants it both ways. BiBi does Israel a disservice - he is very good at putting the country at risk.  Just listen to Israeli Military and security departments -THEY DO NOT AGREE WITH HIM!

and then of course there is a long history:

Who is threatening who here?

Who did not sign the nuclear non-proliferation agreement?

Who will never allow UN inspectors into their country?

Who is stockpiling nuclear weapons and is truly the biggest threat to MENA peace and security?

Who was identified in government documents by the South African government as the country offering to SELL nuclear weapons to SA?

Who has broken EVERY UN agreement and constantly extended their illegal borders all while committing genocide?

Who has violated numerous human rights mandates and numerous articles of war?

Who is the biggest influence on US politics and funds both Congressional and Presidential candidates who support their ideology and goals of dominance in MENA?

Who is covertly behind much of the unrest in MENA? Who was the last country to directly attack a US vessel with the intent of sinking her and all aboard (most likely as a False Flag attempt to involve the US)? Remember the USS Liberty.

etc, etc, etc...

And I won't even go into the "conspiracy" stuff.

Folks.

Israel hasn't bombed Iran. It's not going to. You know why? Iran has the bomb already. DC knows it. Israel knows it. If the mullahs aren't gone by now, they're not going anywhere.

Everybody clear on that? Lovely.

Here's the real news value in what's been going on. This isn't about Iran. It hasn't been in a very long time.

Bibi has the stones to tell the House Negro that the Jews are done being the fall guy for the thieves and murderers on Wall Street who cheerfully bankrolled Hitler's war machine, and now spend their time suck Jew-hating Saudi sand-nigger dick to keep oil cheap enough to avoid a catastrophic collapse of the economies they exploit The bastards have been invited to FOADIAF if they don't like the idea of the Jews being able and willing to defend themselves for a change.

Bibi, almost alone among world leaders (Putin's the only other), actually takes his people's side against the PTB, of whom few have much Jewish blood (none have any God but money), and who were only deterred from letting the Arabs destroy Israel in 1973 when the Israelis threatened to lob an ICBM at DC.

You hate the banksters? The Jews really, REALLY hate the banksters. More to the point, they're done bending over while DC fucks the Jews in the ass.

The only question left is when Israel will finally join the party of freedom under Putin's Russia. The things a Russian-Israeli alliance could achieve in the Middle East simply stagger the imagination. Disposing of the House of Saud---and the issue of oil-funded Islamic terror with it (you can thank them afterwards)---would be just a warm-up.

Recall---it was the Red Army who liberated Auschwitz, not the *spit* Greatest Generation. They showed up only after a generation of Russian boys died saving their country from Hitler and wore the Wehrmacht down enough for Eisenhower to make a big show of delivering the coup de grace.

Let's face it---Russia is the only ally Israel or the Jews ever had that was worth a wet fart to them when it mattered. One day they'll figure that out, and God help the Wall Street gang when they do.

Tell that to the Poles/Khazars.

Stalin completely liquidated the whole Polish Officer Corps, with Hitler's blessing, before the NAZIs overran Poland in 1939.

Stalin rested his troops on the outskirts of Warsaw during the uprising and allowed Hilter to annilate any remaining opposition while the Russian Army watched.

Stalins purges in the 1930s included many Jews.

There were still polgroms up until the fall of the Berlin wall.

Recent evidence and admission by Russia now prove that the Polish officer massacre was perpetrated by the Soviets, not the Germans. This from Wikipedia:

The Katyn massacre was a series of mass executions of Polish nationals carried out by the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs (NKVD), the Soviet secret police, in April and May 1940. Originally the term "Katyn massacre", also known as the Katyn Forest massacre, referred to the massacre at Katyn Forest, which was discovered first and was the largest execution of this type.

The massacre was prompted by NKVD chief Lavrentiy Beria's proposal to execute all captive members of the Polish Officer Corps, dated 5 March 1940, approved by the Soviet Politburo, including its leader, Joseph Stalin. The number of victims is estimated at about 22,000.[1] The victims were murdered in the Katyn Forest in Russia, the Kalinin and Kharkiv prisons, and elsewhere. Of the total killed, about 8,000 were officers taken prisoner during the 1939 Soviet invasion of Poland, another 6,000 were police officers, and the rest were arrested Polish intelligentsia the Soviets deemed to be "intelligence agents, gendarmes, landowners, saboteurs, factory owners, lawyers, officials and priests".[1]

The government of Nazi Germany announced the discovery of mass graves in the Katyn Forest in 1943. When the London-based Polish government-in-exile asked for an investigation by the International Red Cross, Stalin immediately severed diplomatic relations with it. The Soviet Union claimed the victims had been murdered by the Nazis in 1941, and continued to deny responsibility for the massacres until 1990, when it officially acknowledged and condemned the perpetration of the killings by the NKVD, as well as the subsequent cover-up by the Soviet government.[1][2][3][a]

Interesting theory, Boris.

I believe you will  be proved wrong about Israel attacking Iran. Israel has no choice.

One point Bibi made that I concur with totally is that both Iran and ISIS are two competitors for the crown of control of all militant Islam. That's why they fight. It's like a feud between Mafia crime syndicates.

But this they have in common: they both want to destroy everything that is not militant muslim and under their total control. That includes Russia, China, the US, Israel, and all western civilization.

The success of the Israeli Lobby and the appearance of Netanyahu before a joint session of Congress (like Churchill’s) proves that most all of your key points not only are incorrect, they are prompted by your motivation to protect Israel’s expansion in the Middle East.

You know this already, but the primary owners of the New York Federal Reserve Bank are Jewish as are almost all key financial officials in the United States. If the Jewish people hate Wall Street so much, they certainly have a strange way of showing it, pretending to be Wall Street itself, while occupying and operating Wall Street through their operatives at the Fed.

One doesn’t have to be a rocket scientist to see the motivation in your wild scenario. But perhaps your most startling projection is that a former KGB official, who witnessed the Bolshevik destruction of his country and is now a Russian patriot and the most decisive leader on the planet, would be interested in any kind of partnership with the proven warmonger, Netanyahu, who already has approved Ukraine as a "second home" for the Jewish people.

Everyone applauds Netanyahu’s strength of character and his unwavering dedication to his nation’s integrity, politically; militarily; religiously; ethnically; historically.

A US President, any US President (or Member of Congress), who sees and defends the United States in exactly the same manner, but disagrees with Netanyahu, even on the most minuscule minutia is labeled an anti-Semite leading a nation of anti-Semites.

Those who want strong leaders of one nation and compliant leaders of other nations are neither universal in thought nor worldly in rationalization and expectations.

What did George Washington (a strong leader) say about things:

*Beware of the formation of political parties.

*Maintain religion and morality as supports of a free people.

*Avoid alliances & foreign military entanglements.

*Balance the Federal Budget and avoid state debt.

*Keep government spending and taxes low.

*Do not weaken the U.S. Constitution with amendments.

*Do not allow sectional differences to divide the Union.

What did Susan Rice say at AIPAC:

She touted the more than $20 billion in U.S. "foreign military financing" provided to Israel since Obama took office in 2009, and received a warm reception from the audience.

So, giving military aid to Israel is good and talking to Iran is bad!

Strong is one thing: belligerent another!

The facts are clear; there’s no dispute about what’s going on here. Israel has made enemies of all its neighbors; Israel is a nation that pushes its settlements into other people’s territory and kills people who try to stop it. It is a nation that refuses to work with its neighbors to develop peace, but like George Washington said, Netanyahu can’t survive without entangling America in its alliances.

Hey, and I thought the Third Reich no longer existed.

It wasn't a bad speech.  And he did offer some suggestions as to better terms for an agreement.  But really, nobody with a working neuron really expects Iran to keep any agreement.  No nation in their situation would.  So this whole thing is really a kabuki play, everyone puts on masks and plays pretend.

I wish I could believe that even Obama's feckless, petulant behavior was a fake, but it looks rather real, and that's the big danger here.  There's no easy way to make the Iran situation better, but there are ways to make it worse, and a stupid agreement is pretty much the top of that make-it-worse list.

And it was pretty much mismanaged on all sides. Boehner should probably not have offered, now, and maybe Netanyahu shouldn't have accepted, now, and certainly Obama shouldn't have acted like a spoiled brat, anytime.  But given all that, Netanyahu did pretty well, and at least didn't make anything worse, except to show that the Democratic party is even more of a toilet these days than we knew even a month ago.

By "pretty well" did you mean encouraging the neocons and the Jewish Lobby to push for more money, more armaments, for Israel. Or, did you mean, perhaps America can attack Iran and slaughter the people there and take out their energy producing capabilities?

It seems "pretty well" is in the eye of the beholder. I think his visit was an insult to the American people. After creating enemies throughout the Middle East, after precipitating a devastating war in Iraq that America had to fight on Israel's behalf, and after demonstrating that a foreign leader can pull the strings of America's elected political officials like puppets, I find his visit absolutely disgusting.

"Pretty well" in that he didn't ask for the moon, he only asked for conditional terms to the agreement.  Even though his real position is probably that the agreement is useless at best and harmful no matter what it is says.

If you're going to blame Israel and America's support of Israel for the 1991 and 2003 wars, you weren't paying attention.  These were about the US fighting wars for Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, and for our very own selves after 9/11.  The Iranians today are still mad at the US for helping Britain overthrow Mosaddegh, as if the Moslems today gave a flying fig for Mossaddegh, and that was 1953 before Israel was a serious issue to anybody, before 1956 and 1967 I don't think anybody really cared.

And just for a kicker, today it looks like Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt are the core of a new middle-east coalition.  I'm not madly in love with that either, but it has to be better than them shooting at each other.

I agree with prime minister Netanyahu as to not trust Iran. Obama has no foreign policy experience. He acts like a child when he doesn't get his way. 2016 can't come fast enough for me.

You’ve got to crawl on your hands and knees and then they’re going to step on your fingers, anyway. The secret for Obama is not to crawl on your hands and knees..
