Caught On Tape: The Moment Mario Draghi Gets Heckled, "You're Biased..."
Perhaps echoing two entire nations' frustration, one reporter loses his cool when Mario Draghi explains how everyone else in Europe gets free money except Greece and Cyprus...
Having explained that The ECB's Bond-Buying program wil lnot include Greek and Cypriot bonds, "feisty" veteran Greek journalist Aristidis Vikettos unloads on Draghi... "You're Biased..." he exclaimed, leaving Draghi speechless
As In-Cyprus reports, there was a lot more going on behind the scenes...
Mario Draghi was left speechless on live television when a feisty veteran journalist accused him of bias during really tense moments at a press conference, following the conclusion of the ECB Governing Council meeting in Nicosia.
Aristidis Vikettos, the Athens News Agency correspondent, apparently miffed that mostly foreign media were asking the questions, (including US and European papers as well as journalists based in Frankfurt) launched into a Greek verbal onslaught against Draghi who was left staring, while cameras were rolling.
Being heard into the mic of a reporter sitting next to him and about to ask a question, Vikettos accused the ECB chief of allowing only what he termed ‘his own journalists’ to take the floor.
‘What are we, decorative elements?’ he is reported to have said, before shouting out ‘You’re biased’ and making a furious exit. It seems that a Draghi aide attempted to translate the goings on to the governor, mumbling something about a protest.
We found out that a number of Cypriot reporters actually shared Vikettos’ views, with a daily paper referring to ‘tension at Draghi press conference, as Cypriot journalists complain of being sidelined’.
Everything happened so fast that the state broadcasters’ cameras missed the stormy exit. Really, come on! There also seemed to be a number of complaints about the quality of translation, with at least one source telling CW that they heard new economic terms being uttered.

Banksters threaten Greece through the ECB as predicted
Rapidly loosing all respect for the Greeks. Maybe the will get a clue one day.
He didn't get selected because he was wearing a Helen Thomas mask
..just a little qualitative reaming of Drahgi
That guy should avoid balconies, hot tubs with covers, construction sites with nail guns, tall building roof tops and private airplanes.
The reason for the press conference is to spread propaganda.
The reason only a few insiders were allowed to ask questions is to spread propaganda.
The reason the "suits" all sit on a stage is to give some kind of officiality to the theft.
The reason propaganda is needed is to control the thoughts of the people, as any rational person looking at these policies based on merit would storm the banks with a pitchfork.
All these bankers lie, steal, cheat, and lie some more. The system is dead evidenced by the dead spirits controlling it.
"the state broadcasters’ cameras missed the stormy exit."
So it wasn't really "caught on tape".
Not sure how much clearer they can be to the Greeks:
You are going to get fucked, so you best be getting to like it.
pods
It would have been more interesting if Draghi had been shackled.
Those that need it get left out, others gets the largesse. Ah, the New Feudal State.
Best thing I saw this morning. Too bad they didn't translate it earlier.
Of course he is dishonest. He's the head of the ECB. You cannot have this job without being a dishonest fuck.
He knows it too. He also knows he is getting paid enought, above and under the table to IDGAF.
William Binney interview, a must see

definite must-see.
thanks
thats it?
Do you have any idea how many upvotes you get for your avatar?
It would have been best in this circumstance if a large bomb had detonated in that room.

What the reporter did is what is expected from a free and independent media.
Sorry, I forgot. US and Europe doesn't have a free media.
What nation does? Oh i am in south america. Same complaints.
I find it very interesting how protests get co-opted nowadays. This needs to be examined carefully. "Black Bloc" protestors are planted by government and quasi-government agencies to disrupt otherwise civil demonstrations. Much vandalism and worse can be attributed to their ilk. I suspect most of the violence leading up to the torching of civilians in Maidan was committed by state-sanctioned terrorists posing as protestors. Some may have been psychopaths dispatched from outside Ukraine.
Greek protesters clash with police in first backlash against Syriza (26-Feb)
"Dozens of black-clad protesters clashed with riot police in central Athens on Thursday, smashing shop windows, throwing petrol bombs and burning cars after an anti-government march, the first since the leftist Syriza party took power a month ago."
At this point you almost have to assume everything is co-opted if it is important enough.
First it gets marginalized, then if that doesn't work, they go for co-opting it.
I think the blowing shit up is more of a function of a mob than anything else. It is bound to happen.
Mobs are unpredictable. Couple of provacoteurs added to a shitty situation and all hell breaks loose.
Being young, emotional, and full of testosterone just does not lead to good decisions.
pods
No, I think smashing is highly to be desired as a means for creating alienation among the home viewing audience and discouraging widespread public support. We saw it in Canada when disguised cops were observed carrying big rocks at Montebello. I suspect vandalism of select targets is a specific deliverable, part of their training.
I totally agree with you. Protests with violence are usually infiltrated. I saw it on the Canuck news media a while ago.
Let me guess, the black clad protestors were all wearing the same shoes?
Or maybe the 'agents provocateur' have learned not to make that mistake AGAIN?
No doubt. The key point is that the precedent is set. It was actually set a long time ago; we're just learning again how to recognize it. Controlling the opposition means controlling ALL the opposition. If they could, the psychopaths would hijack God himself. Oh, wait...
Plenty of money for banks and corporate wars, but no money for anything else.
Same as it ever was.
I don't know. This is the first time the internet and its lightning fast communications are part of the picture. People all over the world are more awake then at any other time in history. Let's see if a new pattern emerges.
Those poor greeks. They dont have an unbiased media covering the national horse-fucking that they are getting. Not like here in the land-o-da-free where all aspects of american life are covered without political bias.
nope-1004
You’re wrong.
a) Alexis Tsipras and Yanis Varoufakis are the real deal. Will they succeed over the corrupted European oligarchs? Time will tell; but probably not.
b) The Greeks have more balls than Spanishes, Portugueses, and Italians.
http://yanisvaroufakis.eu/
sorry , it was response C.
c) neither: they are another puppets on the circus, following orders or getting headshot in hollidays... who the fuck you think they are, olympians's gods ? lulz... you not break a 50 years scheme just coz you have like 10 millions crooks whining of not having wine on table for dinner anymore once they realize they should have paid their tax.... who give a fuck.... seriously... fuck greeks.
"The reason only a few insiders were allowed to ask questions is to spread propaganda."
You mean like Steve Fleasman?
...and.....th.em-bank-ments. err embankments. nasty grind all the way down.
Maybe he should have brought a star of Moloch with him.
"Zainab's Shoes" Iraq's Number One Discount Footwear Emporium is still open for business: so watch it Herr Draghi. Don't forget to duck you motherfucker.

Don't rush. It's too early. The war will be hard and long.
I hate premature Greekulation
LOL! I'm probably going to steal that at some point...
He pulled out too early.
No matter what Greece does it'll be bad, the game now is how bad and when.
Greece will be breaking bad very soon, yes.
Loosing respect for Greeks you say? Did you have tight respect before?
I am losing respect for all the losers on message boards who do not know the difference between lose and loose. Maybe you should start your own search for a clue and set an example for the Greeks to follow.
Really, come on!
I wonder if Iceland has any leftover red paint?
Most certainly.
Sorry you had your chance to take control of your lives.......you passed and now you will be passed on
Should say
Sorry you had your chance to take control of your lives.......you passed and now you will be pissed on
Do you really believe that somehow Greek Selections are any different that USA Selections?
The only choice is Pitchforks but...NO...You are much too comfortable for that with your FAT Stomach filled and sitting where you are at being critical of the Greeks.

Soon, these meetings will have to take place with Draghi behind a bullet proof shield.
Well first they'll do like the roadhouses down in the Texas hill country and put up chicken wire around the stage, then they'll go with the bulletproof glass. It will be when he start's transmitting from a secret underground bunker that the MSM will become slightly suspicious.
The Popemobile is not being used anymore.

Exactly, careful with the use of the word "truth" now. Whenever a poster comes out with his or any opinion as "the truth", I tend to get extremely suspicious.
"more radical truths" mustn't be conflated with social facts. The language is problematic hence the lengthy comments generously offered up by some to try to overcome that hurdle. Deal with it.

Speechless hell. Draghi absolutely did not care at all, particularly because the Greek couldn't even bother to use a microphone for a translator to convey his expressions in near real time, making a hot-headed buffoon of himself in the process.
I liked the good old days when that Iraqi threw a shoe at George Bush.
Perhaps an empty ouzo bottle would be appropriate next time.
TWO shoes. And the reporter would have kept throwing them if he had more feet.
This was the one time I actually admired something about Bush. The little weasel seemed suprisingly vigilant and agile at dodging the shoes. I never imagined he could move like that.
Granted, it wasn't like 'matrix' fast or crackhead fast, but I was still mildly impressed. Mixed emotions though - I was hoping for at least one solid, satisfying smack directly in his weaseley little face. [sigh]
I upvoted you but gimmie a break the shoe throwing journalist was hardly a world class athlete and he was 15-20 feet away plus Bush had a podium to hide behind...he's had a lot of practice dodging things behind a podium.
Plus he may have been halfway sober at the time.
He was Greek, why did he not throw his plate at Draghi, or if no plate at least the glass, before storming out.
Agreed, Temporalist. I just remember this slow-motion clip being shown over and over and the first thing that popped into my head was that stupid sound effect whenever the Six Million Dollar man did something bionic. I thought it terribly funny at the time... maybe it was just the mushrooms.
The shoe throwing was the best moment of the whole Iraq fuck up. I'm surprised it didn't happen in the States after that. BushCo's reward.
Yeah, he realized it was going to be coming at him even before it got out of the reporters hand, he was already looking for the trajectory. He's a former fighter pilot Paveway, you either have that natural situational awareness all the time, or you won't be selected to fly fastjets.
I'd always presumed Bush's verbal and mental dumbness routine was pure act for that reason, you can find instances when he was neither dumb nor inarticulate. Dumb inarticulate people do not get to fly supersonic fighters. He was smart enough to know that playing the dumb was a distinct advantage sometimes, gives you more options, plus people underestimate you, lower their expectations of what you can do and draw false conclusions. Invaluable during cross examinations, or if playing for time.
Ronald Reagan also slipped in the 'Ol Gipper routine, and convenient memory recall issues, so was rendered a jocular wholesome dippy old guy, from B-grade movie land, so what could you really expect? Watch him in a debate though and his mind was sharp and clear. Obama plays golfer clown, while dicking around in the Oval office taking selfies, but inside the affable folksy clown lurks a rapacious steel trap of a mind, fully in touch with the little-people.
Politics is full of these people, the dumber and more folksy they seem, the more careful people should be about them. They may be a bit dumb, for real, but don't ever presume they are, because the smart ones always want people to implicitly presume that.
"...He's a former fighter pilot Paveway, you either have that natural situational awareness all the time, or you won't be selected to fly fastjets..."
I disagree. Bush Sr. was the only fighter pilot.
You had to have some ability to fly to go to flight school at all, even guys like Bush with connections. You didn't need any special ability to qualify for century-series jet training - that was like two-thirds of all the pilots in flight school. I could make a lot better argument for the unique set of skills a Navy/Marine or USAF A-1 Skyraider pilot needed.
Lil' Bush went through flight school and qualified in the soon-to-be-retired Texas ANG's F-102 Delta Dart interceptors. Technically a figher-interceptor, but the whole point of the F-102 was to intercept Russian bombers and shoot air-to-air missiles at them. They were barely capable of mach flight and would fall out of the sky like a rock if you turned them too hard. Useless in any ground-attack role. They were already almost fifteen year old second-generation fighter fossils when Bush learned to fly them.
The whole Texas ANG scam in the late 1960's was to get assigned to the 102s so you would never be sent to Viet Nam. F-102s were initially used as B-52 escorts early in the war, but soon became useless when there were no North Vietnamese fighters left to attack them. They were eventually pulled from Viet Nam all together. If you flew F-102s in the ANG anytime after 1968, that's all you did. You would never be forced to retrain in an F-4 or a F-105 and sent to Viet Nam. Bush was qualified in the early 70's - by 1976 even the ANG 102's were pulled from service and used as target-practice drones. Any pilot that went through 102 training when he did was just avoiding the potential of combat service in Viet Nam, period. There were plenty of Texas ANG pilots that WERE trained in modern jets, that served and died in Viet Nam.
Point taken about Bush appearing kind of dumb, though. I don't know if it was on purpose or not, but the wheels of evil never stopped turning in that guy's head.
What's Greek for nail gun?
.
People are losing respect for the 'authorities'. As far as these big bankers go, they have not conducted themselves in a way that DESERVES respect. I can completely understand this guy's frustration listening to that number-obsessed automaton say he's gonna print trillions out of thin air and pass it around, but continue to drain Greece for what little they have...the human cost of all this isn't even addressed...as if keeping the discussion restricted to numbers gives what he's actually SAYING a nice, respectable business veneer...
Don't be fooled by the false appearances here. These folks may SOUND like they are being cool, rational and businesslike, while those against them may LOOK like overly-emotional 'buffoons', but listen to what's actually being SAID. The Draghi camp is saying that THEY control money, and will decide who gets what, and when. They say that their right to collect payment and profits on bad investments stands above everyone else's very right to life.
If Draghi had come out and SAID that, people would throw things at him. But he croons about numbers and percentages and principles and everyone sits there.
It doesn't fool me anymore. I am NOT impressed with their lofty-sounding, self-righteous "principles" however well-phrased they are. I'm not impressed with their dedication to balanced books when I've seen how they do the math.
Yes, but....
"Then I saw what was wrong with the world, I saw what destroyed men and nations, and where the battle for life had to be fought. I saw that the enemy was an inverted morality—and that my sanction was its only power. I saw that evil was impotent—that evil was the irrational, the blind, the anti-real—and that the only weapon of its triumph was the willingness of the good to serve it."
extremely well put sir

Off with their heads!
First of all you have to be accredited in Greece.then you have to get to Cyprus.then you have to be accredited in Cyprus.then get an INVITE to the meeting.then BE ALLOZwED to ask a question, that MAT get you access to a mike....but hey !!! It is democratic(sarc)

or just shut the fuck up and bend over more......
over it.
They are busy negotiating for a little less sand in the Vaseline.....
Maybe its time they hook up with the Persians and offer them some naval bases. Throw in some bases to the Chinese and the Russians and the Brazilians. See how the Eurokrauts feel like when the Mediterranean becomes one big world naval military base host.
He wasn't left "speechless" he chose not to respond.
The "journalist" should be asking Tspiras why he LIED to get elected.
If your government defaults, well, all the money you had suddenly becomes "free".
He could have at least whipped a shoe at him before storming out.
"leaving Draghi speechless"
Because these elitist fraternity scumbag, oligarch, bankster class, sub human vermin think they are above street politics and can't be touched.
Back into your limo for the trip back to your villas, offices and penthouses you weasel faced cancer.
That's the real beauty of all of this. They think that they are untouchable, but really aren't. The US Ambassador to SK just got slashed up. These people simply can't be guarded 24/7 and expect to live a luxurious lifestyle. Anybody committed enough can reach out and touch them.
Quite a lot are not even capable of setting their alarm system.
I kid you not.
Yep things are starting to boil. The agents of the empire are not so kindly received any more.
From the look on his face I believe he almost let one of those
freshly printed Euros slip out.
Not the first time Prince Draghi shows he's complete disregard for things that shift outside of his dictatorship.
Why do you think these mofos need to be incinerated.
I'm sick of whiny Greeks. Either default or fuck off and enjoy eating Adolph Merkel's schiesse
People's response to having their nation raped and pillaged sickens you? What castle dost thou preside from, sire?
What people? Their socialist saviors sold then down the river. They want to remain in the EU. Servitude to Germany is part of the deal
The Uki Neo Nazis get a better deal from the EU.
Next.
Throw the shoe! THROW THE FUCKING SHOE!!
They are Greeks, you mean 'Throw the plates! Throw the fucking plate!!'
And as Greece and Cyprus twist down in the wind, the Turkish lira unravels with WW2.5 simmering away next door in Syria / Iraq. The edge of Europe (Crimea +Austrian banks, etc) and Asia is very, very frayed. Now with Internet Time, it won't take years for contagion to spread like it did in the 1900s. Jets and rockets falling from the sky "over there" are now joined with banks and currencies and whole economies falling down. I wish I could be optimistic.
Optimistic about what?
How you look at things is the one last freedom we still have.
something doesn't make sense ... every single major european indexes are at or near all-time-high ... a funny time to throw in more free money ...
You must not understand modern financingery even after all these years on ZH you'd see the BTFATHerness of this move.

He means journalists? No no, in most cases they're more like "active participants", "defenders of the status quo" or "partners in crime" these days. Certainly not critical and independent news gatherers.
But as to Greece I'm a bit torn between two sentiments: I know there is a lot of misery in that country, and I sympathize, I truly do, but on the other hand: how about starting to pay your taxes if you want some form of sustainable economy? That's what I do, as well as a lot of other people, in exchange for which I/they expect some form of "not too big too fail" and sufficiently performant government. Greece should try that for a change
And f*ck my beloved EU, for they cooked the books for Greece. The "cradle of democracy" apparently was a trophy wife for the union. Now face up to the consequences.
Small business, farmers and working people pay their taxes . Larger business ( shipping industry etc.,), oligarchs and the wealthy ( including some government people, if i remember right from the famous "LaGarde List" ) are registered and/or bank in overseas tax havens around the world.

highly debtful- You say "they cooked the books for Greece." Goldman Sachs cooked the books to get Greece into the EU.
Hardly a heckling, fat jew-cat Draghi doesn't seem to give a rat's ass what the Greek has to say. Didn't even feel the need to acknowledge him.
Shut up and bend over, goy!
The reporter should show Mario this to clear up any misunderstandings :

Wow, Draghi looks finished.
The fool thought he could sort everything just with his self-confidence and bluster.
Not long before he is taken away in a straightjacket.
Proof Positive that these Oligarchs are Pussies and back-down when confronted. Never in History have so many been ruled by so few. WAKE THE FUCK UP PEOPLE!
Odd that the EU has no money for Greece, an EU member, while there is no end of money for the Ukraine, a non EU member.
Both are bottomless pits.
Odd? On what planet?
On this one there's never money for debt relief. There's always plenty of money for war, though.
Yep, and for an explanation, look at who owns these war factories and who stands to profit. This will also shed light on why BiBi was given the floor in Congress.
Wow, that was rather anti climatic. Drago even has this smirk on his face as if to say "I could give two fucks less, next!"
Soon we will have cardboard cut out journalists or people on foodstamp acting like journalists..
