Fire Burns After Another Oil Freight Train Derails, This Time In Canada

Tyler Durden's picture

In the early hours of this morning, yet another oil-carrying freight train derailed. Canadian National Railways says a fire continues to burn after a train carrying crude oil derailed  in Northern Ontario (near Gogama). As yet no injuries have been rported and a team of specialists are on the scene. This is the fourth derailment for CN Rail in Northern Ontario this year.

As CP24 reports,

CN Rail says crews reported the derailment near Gogama, Ontario, about two-and-a half hours north of Sudbury, around 2:45 a.m.

No one was injured in the derailment, CN said.

The company said a number of teams, including senior operations, engineering, dangerous goods and environment officers were responding to the scene.

Ontario Provincial Police said Highway 144 between Highway 560 (Watershed) and Mattagami Reserve Road near the site of the derailment will be shut down for between 24 and 36 hours due to safety concerns.

As CN states:

Train U70451-02 derailed along the Ruel subdivision of the CN main line, near Gogama, ON. The incident, which occurred at 0246hrs EST on Saturday, March 07, is currently impacting rail traffic running between Toronto, ON, and Winnipeg, MB.

CN crews are responding to the site in order to undertake the necessary repairs. Both westbound and eastbound traffic scheduled to cross the affected area is currently obstructed, and may be delayed by 24 hours or more. Every measure is being taken in order to reduce the impact to customer shipments.

We are following the situation very closely and will post further updates on this web page as they become available.

As usual, so called 'environmentalists' don't give a shot about anything but money as the expense of the rest of us. Just like all this global warming nonsense, just another moneymaking scam, and huge portions of the population, including many on this site, are still dumb enough to believe them.

It's the usual binary thinking: either you accept the rail cars burning your town down, or you accept that gov will wreck a whole bunch of peoples' lands (and 'the environment') to build their fucking pipeline.

...  When in fact the majority of this oil is wasted by the military (for war crimes), with much of the rest going to feed and promote obsessive-compulsive materialism by deranged consumers, all obviously by design as well.

Anyhow, enjoy your daily dose of manufactured consent!

the oil has to be transported from point 1 to point 2.  if it is in a pipeline, or on a railtrack in containers, it remains equally easy to destroy it.  explain to me the difference.  explain to me the environmental difference.  that pipelines are safer?  cheaper? either can be destroyed, just as easily.  the difference please?

Yeah, too many clueless morons on ZH who hate people who voluntarily work for companies and hate companies who voluntarily employ people at reasonable wages.

Big Government makes more PROFIT (Arrgggghhhh!!!!) on each gallon of gas than Big Oil.  And Big Government doesn't do anything in the production of said gas other than make it more expensive to produce.  Going so far as to deny the implementation of a safe transportation method for political gain (see train accidents/fires and year after year pipeline denial for proof).

"Arrrrghhhhh!!!!  Big Oil!!!! They employ people and manufacture  products that we insist on having, providing said products to the (somewhat) free market.  Ugggggghhhhh!!!!  Terrible that people would make good money and voluntarily work for them.  Arrrrggghhh!!!  Where's my EBT card?  Work sux!!! I deserve your money because I'm special.  I got gold stars on my grade school homework."

The mainstream opinion is that Ayn Rand is a simplistic highschool style fairytale to be ignored.

But damned if all these accidents don't look a lot like how she described the collapse of a functioning economy would look...

Atlas is shrugging.  People don't trust the system anymore, and they are ceasing to care.  When people lose their motivation for life, they behave carelessly.  Accidents happen.  The USSR did this, too.  Hardly the first time in history to see a people cease to be motivated enough to be able to maintain the infrastructure on which modern society depends.

Bottom line, these accidents are now frequent enough so as no longer to appear random.  They are connecting into a picture of a more general breakdown.  You can't treat a population like cattle and not expect them to start behaving like cattle.  And cattle are not sufficiently skilled to run freight trains safely...

Starting to look suspicious.  If it is Muslim Terrorists, Obama will do nothing.  DHS is clueless and doing nothing with their color coded alerts, so we can rule them out.  If Buffet starts squawking, it is some kind of insurance scam he is running--Probably mostly empty rail cars.  If some oil lobbiest shows up on TV saying we need the keystone pipleine becasue it is safer, find out who is paying him.  And of course, there is always all of the above.  One thing is certain, it is about money.
