US Sends Over 100 US Tanks, Armor To Latvia As Nuland "Confirms" Russia Delivering Weapons
No lesser trustworthy character than Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland explained this morning that the US can "confirm" new Russian weapons delivery to Ukraine and that they "can tell" when Russia sends in new weapons (though offering no explanation of this statement). This comment to the Senate Committee comes a day after the US delivered 'lethal aid' to Latvia - 120 armored units (including tanks) - with US Army General John O’Conner who witnessed the tanks arriving on Latvian soil said, "Freedom must be fought for, freedom must be defended." And finally, one more shot in the eye of the germans, deputy under-secretary of Defense Brian McKeon said the US is "actively considering more weapons for Ukraine," seemingly implying they alreadt sent some?

Latvia has confirmed more than 120 armored units, including tanks, have been delivered by the US. According to the Latvian Ministry of Defense, these include M1A2 Abrams tanks and M2A3 Bradley armored vehicles.
The move to deploy yet more tanks and armored vehicles was welcomed by Latvian Minister of Defense Raymond Vejonis."The presence of our allies (US and NATO) in Latvia is a confirmation of solidarity and security in the region," Vejonis said in a statement on Twitter.
The tanks were delivered to Latvia via Riga Freeport after being offloaded from the carrier ship Liberty Promise on Monday. US Army General John O’Conner who witnessed the tanks arriving on Latvian soil said, “Freedom must be fought for, freedom must be defended," as reported by the US Embassy Riga Twitter feed.

The United States government is applying pressure to European countries that oppose sanctions against Russia, US Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs Victoria Nuland said at a US Senate hearing on Tuesday.

These tanks etc. is not Latvian - they are brought in Baltic states and for Poland as part of combined exercises. These excerses will be here for as long as putin will continue it's "adventure" in Ukraine.
According to other news sites, the equipment will stay indefinitely in Latvia, but the 3000 American soldiers will leave in June. They probably couldn't get hotel reservations past that date because it is the height of the tourist season.

Latvia gets new tanks from USA, swaps their old tanks out for the new ones, sends old tanks to Ukraine, which uses them in the civil war and promptly loses them to the separatists, who say "Thanks for the tanks, USA!"

Here's a little US history lesson from an american to a clueless polak. From the Stratfor link:

This is simply flat-out false concerning the history of US wages. As observers from Adam Smith onwards have noted, the US has had among the highest wages in the world, only beginning to decline relatively from the 1970's onwards to present.
So foriegn investment capital, mostly from Britain, had to be looking for something else. Before 1860, that was the cotton slavery, slaves obviously not earning much of a wage. Cotton was the world petroleum commodity of its time, and cotton slavery directly made possible the first industrial revolution in Britain's textile industry.
Next it was the continential railroad agricultural-mining industrial complex, basically "Russian-style" raw material (including food) exports. Wages relatively high outside the ex-slave and defeated South - where little investment went - especially for skilled wage laborers connected to the railroad complex (hence the many strikes in that period). In fact, *real* wages actually rose in the deflationary "long depression" 1873-1896, so Stratfor is totally FOS here. Basically foriegn investment first made money off of labor stolen from slaves, then off of what could be extracted from the land stolen from the natives, using high wage labor by world standards of the time. None of that corresponds to Stratfor's point concerning low wages and investment.
After that it was the petroleum-auto complex, and you know the rest. It has only been since the 1970's that increasing masses of americans have experienced "European-style" low wages in a persistent way, forming now a new permanent low wage layer. Not having prior experience with this goes a long way towards explaining their relatively clueless reaction to their novel historical condition - notice at least THAT fact was acknolwaged by Stratfor.
