Caught On Tape: South African Reporter Mugged Live On Air
It appears the new normal has reached peak 'consequence-free'-ness. As South African reporter Vuyo Mvoko prepared for his live TV report - standing in front of a camera, bright lights, and various cameramen and crew - two armed men decided it was an opportune time for a mugging... and the whole farcical and dangerous scene was caught on tape...

Armed men have been caught on camera mugging a journalist as he was about to give a live TV report in South Africa.
Vuyo Mvoko was seconds away from going on air outside Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg on Tuesday night.
Two men, one apparently armed with a gun, accosted the reporter as he was about to give an update on Zambian President Edgar Lungu's condition.
A scuffle follows and Mvoko is heard saying: "Hey, we're being mugged!"
Mvoko, who works for the South African Broadcasting Corporation, said afterwards: "He was looking for the phone.
"And when I wasn't giving him the phone, he calls the other one who has a gun, to say 'shoot this dog' or something like that.
"So I gave him the phone."
The robbers took two mobile phones and a laptop computer from the TV crew.
The South African National Editors' Forum appealed to anyone who recognised the men to contact police.
"Every South African lives with the reality of crime, but to see thugs brazenly ignoring television cameras and robbing media workers in the course of their work yet again brings home the level of criminality in our society," a spokesman said.

Prior to the "change" SA had very permissive gun laws for whites, more permissive than in the US. Same with Rhodesia and other formerly white-run southern African countries.
Chicago's laws were superceded by the State of Illinios when the Concealed Carry passed, sans a few small tweaks.
Chicago's gun laws were also abrogated by the federal appeals court. Now the crooks and criminals will no longer be the only armed demons in Chicago.

okay, let's break this down. comma-splice after 'response' (tsk-tsk). 'indeed' is in this case superfluous. 'implicate' is a poor choice in this instance; 'put' would've functioned much better, but you wanted to "smarten" it up, i suppose. lastly, you would've done better to position 'however' at the beginning of your sentence and set it off with a comma. but, really, the whole sentence is an abomination and an affront to the mechanics of language. perhaps a better phrasing -- if you indeed sought to convey the sentiment i'm assuming you intended -- would've been something like this: "Your response indicates that you're possessed of a rather sophomoric disposition." (i'm trying to use as many of your words as possible).

While I see what you're trying to say, if my assumption is correct, the fraternity was an university organization. Anything they do as a fraternity has to adhere to the university rules, and I'm pretty sure discrimination is against the rules of the university. So to say they are being unfairly punished is a pretty big stretch as it leaves the university at the possibility to be sued for the actions of the fraternity.

i understand what you're saying, but "anything they do..." is quite a stretch with respect to frats (especially SAE). we used to line-up 8 balls on coffee tables and bend chi omegas over the side of our lions; and though there werne't any specific prohibitions regarding said behaviors, it probably didn't comport with the student handbook. albeit, former Es were some of the university's most generous donors to various initiatives over the years (they're the old money set in mississippi)...and so, the 8 balls, chi Os and chronic academic probation went largely overlooked...some of those guys have gone on to great things...many are deacons in their local churches...some are possibly your surgeons...a few are in positions of fairly high command in the US armed forces...a few are in DC.
and regarding potential litigation, i do not know who could claim standing in a lawsuit against a bunch of drunken chanters on a chartered bus. fear of litigious madness cannot be a predicate for any and all policy. and just what are the limits of speech (in a private setting) these boys are supposed to abide? are they to be afraid to voice their distaste for mexican food...cause only a bigot would hate mexican food.

The President of South Africa (Jacob Zuma!!!) recently made comments that the 'problems started when [original white settlers] arrived in Cape Town'. Now, mind you, the original white settlers did not ARRIVE in Cape Town, they settled the damn city! Built it from the ground up. Its not something that existed prior to their arrival!
