clearly it is a recovery
worst since Lehman (c)
Yes. This is just another side effect of an economy that's just too strong for its own good.
Anyway, as a staunch liberal, I think this is a great development and hope it curtails global warming.
Whitney Tilson doubled his short position on LL last week, and is making a killing...
Nice to see.
And CBS stock is doing even better! Go Sixty Minutes, Go!
Kill! Kill! Kill!
You guys and gals are the best!
thought they used reclaimed lumber for flooring
thought they used compressed poison laden refuse from china
Maybe the FED can save lumber...warm up the printing presses Mr. Yeller.
"You can no longer not build that."

Where's 3:30 Ramp LLC when you need 'em?? LOL
To the poster that suggested an epic short squeeze at noon today? FEH. Down arrow 4 u! hehe
We saw this exact same thing happen with coffee (futures) over the past several years.
Yet ... coffee is still ten bucks for 12 ounces at the grocery.
When are any of these charts gonna make a difference I can appreciate?
gas in california is ridiculously expensive.
I'm staying short until Tilson Whitebread says he's covered his shorts...
CBS is just doing the dirty work their masters pay them for.
Maybe they can do a hit piece on Ikea and the offgassing from their line of shit furniture.
The moneychanger clique making profits again utilizing all arms of the squid, the media it controls and wall st firms staffed by the parasites. How is the Protocols of the Elders of Zion 2.0 working out for you goy.
Why do liberals like to freeze to death in ice ages, anyway?
Then you should be schilling for hemp to replace paper.
I'm gonna fight you on the Since Lehman copyright. I think I had it first!

I'm making over $7k a month working part time. I kept hearing other people tell me how much money they can make online so I decided to look into it. Well, it was all true and has totally changed my life. This is what I do... www.globe-report.com
Green shoots? No, brown shoots?
Oh, they are just splinters....but THEY WILL TURN GREEN BEFORE 3pm today!
Oh the days of B-Cups and green shoots
i wouldn't worry. everything will be green next week
st patrick's day :)
It looks like there will be lumber liquidation...they may well crash into the buffer stop at such speed that their laminates will curl. It will be like standing in the way of a very determined caber toss. At that point, it will probably be too late to knock on wood.
This is how you stop deforestation. An economic collapse.
I have had that tin hat thought, that they were collapsing the economy because they think they are "saving the planet."
They are saving the planet. For them. The planet will decide if it wants them around after we are gone.
It's this kind of out-of-the-box thinking that makes me realize everything will turn out just fine. We're making far too big a deal out of this whole global economic collapse thing.
Didn't work out to well for Haiti.
Economic collapse brought about complete deforestation as desperate and starving people scavenged the countryside and ate wood-ashes for sustenance.
I'm sure we are different.
Besides, they were China's trees, not ours.
Human tree eating will be the least of our problems if this baby goes down in flames.
save a tree , eat a beaver
Lumber chart needs some wood.
I will fetch the arboreal Viagra.
Toxic shit! No, seriously toxic.
anyone else get the feeling something black swan-ish is coming this weekend?
yet, somehow someway markets will be green when asia opens sunday evening
most def, loading up on vix and shorts here, then a full weekend of meaningless, status quo, pop culture news ...
equity futures will be down a bit sunday night, then wake up to smug CNBS asshats, with GREEN by 8am monday, lather rinse repeat
Would the start of WWIII be a black swan event?
No, but the end certainly will be.....
it's just gas.
if you can see it coming it's not a black swan.. it's just a shart
CNBC just destroyed them today. After the CEO was on defending his company, an hour or later they brought out "an expert" who said "he would not let his children on the wood flooring in question...
They are getting hammered (pardon the pun)
LL paying the price for not advertising with CNBC
Waiting tro
To an HFT, an exec's appearance on CNBC = kill his stock.
Any chemists out there that can give me their 2 cents? Is the formaldehyde in air freshers? When I worked for California schools the portable classrooms had to be constructed with ultra-low levels of formaldehyde in the plywood, carpet and wall coverings. They got tested and certified by various agencies and still parents complained that their kids got sick from the "glues" in the wood (despite us leaving the windows open all summer before classes resumed in the Fall). A chemist told us that the levels were because the teachers left half a dozen air freshers around which contained formaldehyde.

Was that so hard?
Every product that contains chemicals etc that is sold has to have a MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET known as a MSDS report. There is a searchable data base provided by the US Gov. These reports are useful to see what is in and how much of it is in the products that you are using. They are very useful for people that do backyard or kitchen top chemistry for sourcing materials. http://www.msds.com/ This one is better http://www.msdssearch.com/DBLinksN.htm
The globalists have renamed the MSDS to SDS in order to make us more like the Europeons.

If you wanted to make laminated flooring in the USA you would have to meet standards out the wazoo. If you import poisoned shit from China it's all OK. This is the world we live in my friend.
We used to laugh at 3rd world countries that operated entirely on bribery; now we are that 3rd world country. The shining mirage on the hill.
I do believe we are close to the end of this insanity. And when it ends, oh boy. Glad I got a front row seat.
The charts for lumber, copper, and crude clearly illuminate tremendous opportunities out there for a robust second half recovery this year.
Respectfully,

I think you're missing a /sarc tag.
Five years ago I had extended, heated debates with the person who I most often discussed the inflation vs deflation argument with. He felt that Robert Prechter was worng. Prechter is an Elliot wave theorist that believed we would deflate. He felt the Fed would huff and puff into overtime, yet still be impotent to overpower the force of deflation.
We ended up agreeing only that we would likely see both inflation AND deflation before the game ended.
And now it appears that Prechter and his ilk were right. For now. Money velocity is stagnant. It would appear that indeed money needs to be shoveled out of helicopters (no loans... just free money) to get people to spend faster and create price inflation.
One way or another I tend to believe we will still inflate. Perhaps hyper-inflate. Great buying opportunities in PMs this year.
No rising wages, no hyperinflation. When credit doesn't expand, deflation big time.
Half the country is FSA and the remaining are living credit card bills to credit card bills
Who's gonna spend faster.....and spend on what. What a joke
Hyperinflation is a psychological phenomenon, not a monetary one. Rising wages are not necessary for hyperinflation to appear.
http://www.elliottwave.com/conquerthecrash/3/default.aspx
I think that we will have both also. That which has been traditionally bought on credit (houses, cars) will deflate, while that which is consumed will inflate.
Part of my inflate thinking though is actually backwards, because it is more of a function of the value of the dollar not being shit.
hyperinflation isn't about the currency, it is about the government that issues the currency. When confidence in a particular government collapses, the currency it issues begins to hyperinflate.
We will get hyperinflation in the US when confidence in the Federal government collapses. Judging from the current behavior of the fucknuts and dipshits that populate this country, they are at least five years away from waking up, which means we are more than five years away from hyperinflation.
pakled
We have already had hyper-inflation in stocks, bonds and commodities. Now deflation has been birthed by the Central Bank whores.
The next QE will be no federal taxes for a year and a big infastructure spending bill.
I live near and regularly drive past two large saw mill/lumber yards. I have NEVER seen so many logging trucks delivering trees and cut lumber stacked in the yard EVER. Draw your own conclusions, but in my mind someone thinks that there's going to be increased demand...
I would be more inclined to believe that the mills have encountered unanticipated weak demand, that raw materials are as a result and due to lag building up on their yards, and that mills are likely now cutting back on purchases of said raw materials.
I wonder if unemployment benefit claims are up of late in places like Oregon.
I've shopped Lumber Liquidators. As a consumer, I did not see the value proposition there at all, and purchased elsewhere. Their prices struck me as retail, rather than wholesale or liquidation.
Look on the bright side, printing MASSIVE quantities of fiat paper just got cheaper.
time to pass a new law in the dark of night. Every american must buy some lumber or face a tax to be collected by the Nazi Gestapoo, umm I mean the IRS
Get that EO pen out u welfare pimp nigerian.. you know you want to pack some more fudge.
If one ever needed proof of the Bell Curve, just look in the White House.
