Ex-US General Defends His "Sanctions Don't Work, Start Killing Russians" Comment

Tyler Durden's picture

Just a few short days after former US Army General Robert Scales explained to FOX News that Ukraine is lost, and acknowledged that an ongoing deployment of American troops to Eastern Europe is unlikely to change the situation, and "the only way [The US] can turn the tide is start killing Russians... killing so many Russians that even Putin’s media can’t hide the fact that Russians are returning to their motherland in body bags,” he has come out defending his statement as the Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal probe into his statements. “I’m not concerned at all, I just kind of wish I could take a vacation in Russia but I can guarantee, that’s not going to happen," Scales said, shrugging off Russian 'propaganda' as "a Russian form of war."

As RT reports,

Seemingly unfazed by the outrage his comments on Fox Business Channel have caused, the former US general who thinks the only solution to the Ukraine conflict is to “start killing Russians” has defended his stance, again speaking to Fox.

Robert H. Scales, the retired United States Army major general whose outburst was aired by Fox on Tuesday, did not have to justify his comments as such, as he was invited for a cozy conversation with Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren to jokingly discuss the reaction to his remarks.

Responding to the news that the Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal probe into his statements on charges of public calls for starting an aggressive war made in the media, and that his remarks violated article 20 of the United Nations’ International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights that bans any propaganda of war and instigation of discrimination, hatred or violence, Scales shrugged it off by branding it “a Russian form of war.”

“It’s the Russia version of the First Amendment – five years in prison if you say something that makes [Russian President] Vladimir Putin angry,” Scales told Fox News.

The only thing that appeared to bother the military analyst is that he is not going to try any vodka or borsch in Russia due to the criminal investigation.

“I’m not concerned at all, I just kind of wish I could take a vacation in Russia but I can guarantee, that’s not going to happen,” he said.

Scales was seemingly surprised by the fact that his words reached the Russians at all: “I got emails today from people in Russia I never heard of before. I didn’t know Fox News was watched in Russia.”

In the end, he insisted that everything he told Fox was “the truth.... we all know that sanctions don’t work, negotiations don’t work, we can’t push the red ‘reset’ button, and the bottom line is, only military action by the Ukrainians that we support will turn the tide.”

*  *  *

Foreign Ministry spokesman Aleksandr Lukashevich earlier condemned Scales' statements, calling them “Russophobic” and stressing that “the tone of the rampant anti-Russian propaganda is being set by Washington officials.”

*  *  *

General Scales comments begin at 3:17...

"it's game, set, and match in Ukraine for the US, the only way they can turn the tide is start killing Russians... killing so many Russians that even Putin’s media can’t hide the fact that Russians are returning to their motherland in body bags.”

Which nation is the aggressor again?

Substitute the word Russian for American, and imagine a Kremlin General/Stooge making the same statement:   the USSA media would be screaming 24/7 that Russia   is a threat to world peace and must be eliminated.

How do you like it so far, living  under a USSA government that endlessly lies, robs you through taxes, and sends your children to die to make the MIC richer?

Exceptionalism gives this general the right to make statements such as he did, and then to double down on them. The face of fascism and nazism has returned, and certain Christian Zionists, like the gereral, are the agents behind this.

The US is spinning a web of war, backing Al-Qaeda and ISIS, creating Nazi Legions in Ukraine. If they think their hegemony agenda will benefit, they will support anyone.

The General plans on using the patriotic American people as tools to spread his Zionism world wide. Will Americans be made fools of? Yes, I think they will. Some of them post on this very thread.

the problem with his suggestion is that there are no official ruskie military in the Ukraine. Which is the problem with a propaganda driven empire: sooner or later its leaders cease to realise their own bullshit is, in fact, bullshit.

Unless he's referring to russian or russian descent civilians. Which would be genocide.

All the Putin love on the ZH is really a thirst for the same kind of reaction from our leaders.

Putin and his followers are just being patriotic for their homeland and are expressing it openly, unlike the sheeple here in the USSA who are confused and have lost sight of their shepherd.

The bleeting you here for Putin on the hedge is just a longing for patriotic leadership here in the USSA and the sheeple crying out.

Tragic how few Americans understand that Russia is our cultural ally; they are only our "enemy" because of our ignorance of their history and the West's penchant for immediate gratification and violence at any cost while proclaiming "peace" and "freedom".

Absolute truth. During our Civil War the Tsar of Russia sent his Black Sea Fleet to guard our Atlantic coast, and the Vladivostok Fleet our Pacific coast. Fine thanks we gave him. Russia was a strong ally until the central bankers started plotting and scheming to take down, seal off, and deform Russia during and after the WW1 destruction of Europe.

In spite of the DC installed, violent, NWO society we knew as the USSR which murdered at least 60 million and terrorized the rest over the following decades, Russia still managed to break the chains and kick back. Good for them. Would that we could do the same.

In 1920-30's "Agro-Joint," founded in the USA was already active in Crimea,  relying on the Crimean Jewish colonists. In 1922 in Simferopol opened a branch of the "Agro-Joint" bank, financing resettlement of the new Jewish residents, as well as the training of Jewish human resources in educational institutions of Crimea. The largest office of "Agro-Joint" opened in Dzhankoy. It was at this time that more then 150 villages appeared in the Crimean steppes, which were inhabited exclusively by "persons of Jewish descent".

Look, you can forget a ground offensive. NATO cannot do that.

It would have to be Naval engagement and missile (conventional) strikes along with Air Force strikes.

NATO would quickly lose such a confrontation.

So, I suspect there will be no giant war unless somebody in the US is completely and utterly insane. And I mean Insane.

To top that off, if China enagaes with the RF, it will be a wipeout.

Forgive my ignorance on this subject, but I'd be interested in knowing why you think NATO would quickly lose a battle of navies and conventional missle attacks.  Is it because most of the damage to NATO countries would be in Europe, thereby causing them to sue for peace (or whatever countries at war do these days) or is it something in the makeup of the two forces that leads you to say that?  I'm not being critical.  I'd really like to know your thinking on this.

And anyone else that would like to chime in.  I'm trying to learn as much as I can on this subject.

Europe does not have a capable army and Russias army is. Meanwhile Russia has its assets in Europe already whereas the US would have to fly/ship them across the atlantic and it would never be enough to win against Russia on European soil.

Meanwhile Russian missile and missile defence tech is vastly superior to the USA's.

A non nuclear war with Russia in the European theater is logictically unwinnable.

And that is not even counting nuclear capabilities, where the Russian have a superior edge with more nukes, much faster nukes, better misisle defence, and nukes that are far closer to the USA than any nukes are to Russia.

We would never survive to find out if any (or which) of our nukes made it to Russian targets. Over 100 Russian nukes would come out of the Atlantic with less than 5 minutes to impact, at a speed that is unmatched to american missile defence.

A war with Russia would result in 30-70 million American deaths in the first half an hour.

Thanks Tungsten.  Maybe I'm looking at war from too long a historical perspective.  I was thinking that since the NATO forces could hit Russia from three sides (from Europe in the West, from the Pacific across Siberia in the East, and from relatively friendly nations in the Middle East) that Russia could be fighting a three front war.  But I can see that I'm thinking in terms of land armies and not in terms of aerial warfare.  The naval stuff I can see wouldn't make all that big a difference, as the naval ships are pretty much nothing more than mobile launch platforms.  And if we start talking nuclear, I don't know if I want to be one of the "lucky" ones to survive and find out what our nukes did over there.  It would be a pretty bleak world if this things goes full nuke retard.

Thanks for the response.  Gives me something to chew on.

@ Bay Area Guy--The basic motivations of NATO/Russia are poles apart. The Russians would have a war on their border(s) involving their populations inside and adjacent to Russia. This would be a survival fight for them so they would make retaliation very painful for the attackers. Just because they look like Europeans does not mean they are. Indeed they most certainly are not. They are highly motivated defenders of Mat Rodina--The Great Motherland.

Russians have a long history of being completely underestimated by invaders who do not understand this vast and often baffling land.  Violent trespassers invariably find themselves on the receiving end of nasty Russian surprises and humiliating, devastating retreats. Even the climate and geography will torment those who bring war to Russia.  Russians are proud, patriotic, and all of them will fight back tooth and nail, from heavy artillery to elderly on the streets who will gladly do what has to be done. Those who come to Russia looking for trouble will get mountains of it.

NATO is made up of a sissy NWO officer corp who have never fought and have no loyalty to any country. They are only loyal to their careers and think that fancy computer weapons will save them. The younger recruits who are in it for the paycheck and bennies never really signed up for fighting, only doing conflict police work, moving up the corporate NATO ladder, or impressing future employers. They are fighting for the NWO since they are brainwashed wimpy multiculturalists and no longer really have a country.

Russian Generals always did and still do accompany their men into battle, like Romans. Western Generals manage wars with IT from the safety of bunkers, like geeks. If NATO is stupid enough to enter the bear's cave they will get so bit.

Quite depressing isn't it.  Unfortunately, no way to go from here, with a potential overshoot on global population relative to various critical resources such as energy resources, phosphate rock, fresh water, and so on.

Then you have the monstrous levels of debt (of course, related with the aforementioned) and masses of corruption and arbitrage-seeking schemes in various arenas, at the expense of the average citizens.

Top it all off with an undercurrent of socialistic viewpoints and a largely flacid, and lazy population (in the Anglosphere) who simply cannot wrap their heads around the finite growth thing..

Yeah, we're going to see a severe dislocation of the status quo in the near future.  I hate bringing this shit up to good people, because it causes them to lose hope but..meh. Ignoring the problems which we face won't solve them either.

War Pigs and the MIC are native to both Russia and the US.

After maintaining pervasive if not controlling interests in both countries politically and economically during the entire Cold War it should come as no surprise that the War Pigs in both camps enjoy their commensurate positions, have commensurate policy goals, and that neither cadre wishes for their fiefdoms to be dismantled to provide funds for domestic non-military expenditures or in a blossoming of actual internation civility and mutual support in lieu of their present systems of trade sanctions, wasteful armaments, destruction, deat, etc...

What was Scales great military adventure?  What was accomplished?

Were people saved from domination or some encroaching enemy by his brave acts or is he a career blowhard with a chest full of decorations and a portfolio comprised mainly of military contractors?

EDIT:

FWIW, according to wiki Scales is from a military family and served one nasty tour in America's most illustrious and lauded military campaign of all time, Vietnam.

Come you masters of war You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks.

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly.

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain.

You fasten all the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion'
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud.

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins.

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
That even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do.

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul.

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand over your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead. Bob Dylan

In a war between the US and Russia, it's hard to say who has the upper hand. The US military is far more advanced and battle tested, while the Russian military is used to not having enough money and has much shorter supply lines (assuming the war is fought in Eastern Europe or Russia itself). Granted, US weapons are too complicated and maintenance dependent for their own good. Over all, hard to call.

Then there's the Chinese, who may decide to be nuetral, or may come to the aid of one side or another. They've made public declarations of frienship with Russia, but depend on US customers to buy their exports. Hard to call that one too.

In any event, it would take divine intervention (or a good fascimile of it) to prevent the war from going nuclear. IIRC, Russian policy states that the use of tactical nukes to defend Russia's borders does not count as nuclear escalation.

On the other hand, fuck analysis. They want a war, and they're probably going to get one. Whether we live through it is another story.

Lieutenant-general Sir Michael Jackson overruled General Clark because the British commander did not want to spark a clash with the Russians.

"I'm not going to start Third World War for you," General Jackson told the US commander, according to Newsweek. In the hours that followed General Clark's order, both men sought political backing for their position, but only General Jackson received it.

News of the clash between the British and US commanders comes just days after the US snubbed General Clark by ordering him to step down next year, two months early, to make way for Air Force General Joseph Ralston, vice chairman of the joint chiefs of staff.
