Ex-US General Defends His "Sanctions Don't Work, Start Killing Russians" Comment

Tyler Durden's picture

Just a few short days after former US Army General Robert Scales explained to FOX News that Ukraine is lost, and acknowledged that an ongoing deployment of American troops to Eastern Europe is unlikely to change the situation, and "the only way [The US] can turn the tide is start killing Russians... killing so many Russians that even Putin’s media can’t hide the fact that Russians are returning to their motherland in body bags,” he has come out defending his statement as the Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal probe into his statements. “I’m not concerned at all, I just kind of wish I could take a vacation in Russia but I can guarantee, that’s not going to happen," Scales said, shrugging off Russian 'propaganda' as "a Russian form of war."

As RT reports,

Seemingly unfazed by the outrage his comments on Fox Business Channel have caused, the former US general who thinks the only solution to the Ukraine conflict is to “start killing Russians” has defended his stance, again speaking to Fox.

Robert H. Scales, the retired United States Army major general whose outburst was aired by Fox on Tuesday, did not have to justify his comments as such, as he was invited for a cozy conversation with Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren to jokingly discuss the reaction to his remarks.

Responding to the news that the Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal probe into his statements on charges of public calls for starting an aggressive war made in the media, and that his remarks violated article 20 of the United Nations’ International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights that bans any propaganda of war and instigation of discrimination, hatred or violence, Scales shrugged it off by branding it “a Russian form of war.”

“It’s the Russia version of the First Amendment – five years in prison if you say something that makes [Russian President] Vladimir Putin angry,” Scales told Fox News.

The only thing that appeared to bother the military analyst is that he is not going to try any vodka or borsch in Russia due to the criminal investigation.

“I’m not concerned at all, I just kind of wish I could take a vacation in Russia but I can guarantee, that’s not going to happen,” he said.

Scales was seemingly surprised by the fact that his words reached the Russians at all: “I got emails today from people in Russia I never heard of before. I didn’t know Fox News was watched in Russia.”

In the end, he insisted that everything he told Fox was “the truth.... we all know that sanctions don’t work, negotiations don’t work, we can’t push the red ‘reset’ button, and the bottom line is, only military action by the Ukrainians that we support will turn the tide.”

*  *  *

Foreign Ministry spokesman Aleksandr Lukashevich earlier condemned Scales' statements, calling them “Russophobic” and stressing that “the tone of the rampant anti-Russian propaganda is being set by Washington officials.”

*  *  *

General Scales comments begin at 3:17...

"it's game, set, and match in Ukraine for the US, the only way they can turn the tide is start killing Russians... killing so many Russians that even Putin’s media can’t hide the fact that Russians are returning to their motherland in body bags.”

Which nation is the aggressor again?

Yes, the U.S. will fight Russia down to the last Ukrainian. Which speaks volumes about the level of intelligence of Ukrainians.

You don't remember the USS Cowpens incident, huh?  When the Chinese sent their new aircraft carrier out for sea testing and the USS Cowpens thought it could get a couple of hundred feet from it and get a look-see.

Well, the Cowpens almost got rammed broadside by one of the ships in Liaoning's carrier group.

Then the same cretins who complain when a jet gets too close to a country's airtspace, howled when the ship the sent to spy on the Liaoning almost got rammed.

Do us all a favor and stay on the US's side.  I don't think we could handle a moron like you.

The U.S. has become pussified.

If our leaders are going to go around starting wars, at least have the balls to let us win them.

Anything short of that only emboldens sovereign nations to defy OUR will and to pursue their own national agendas.

They say what they're paid to say.

Also, how many Generals does the USA have?  THOUSANDS?  For a country bounded on the east and west by oceans, on the north by a thinly-populated sub-arctic country, and on the south by a country which can't even police its own criminals, one might THINK a hundred Generals, give or take a few, could do the job, whatever it is.  BUT NO!  Apparently the USA aristocracy lives in such constant fear of boogiemen, coodies, and spiders, that they only feel safe if they have a couple dozen Generals PER COUNTRY, including countries like Luxemberg, Tibet, Trinidad, and Youbeckeebeckeestan.

WRONG.

The U.S. does NOT have thousands of Generals.

See 10 U.S. Code § 526 - Authorized strength: general and flag officers on active duty

The number of general officers on active duty in the Army, Air Force, and Marine Corps, and the number of flag officers on
active duty in the Navy, may not exceed the number specified for the armed force concerned as follows:

(1) For the Army, 231
(2) For the Navy, 162
(3) For the Air Force, 198
(4) For the Marine Corps, 61

This is a total of 652.

This is the max allowed by law. The actual number currently serving in uniform is well below this number.

Unfortunately, the statement is likely correct. Ukraine is going to Russia, the whole gambit was stupid. We can argue about what he means by fighting in Ukraine, whether he means Russians or Ukrainians, or whether Russians are there, but Kiev is losing and will lose. The most likely outcome is that the West destroyed Ukraine and will now hand it back to Russia in a state of civil war.

The shambles that passes for the US army never completely conquered the sandnigger shitstain known as Iraq, though they wasted a decade, trillions of dollars and thousands of lives trying. Does this fuckwit think the affirmative action hires have a chance against a real army? It'll be men who, if Barack Obama had a son, might have resembled him who'll be coming back to the South Side in coffins---what's left of them anyway.

The liberation of Novorossiya is irreversible, short of conquering Russia, and that's simply not going to happen---lord knows it's been tried. Yes, it is checkmate in "Ukraine." And Russia is far from finished. If the US is serious about a peaceful resolution, they need to start pulling American troops out of Europe, recognize Eurasia as Russia's natural sphere of influence, and stop interfering in Eurasian affairs. Today.

Or the American banksters can be the first to die when Moscow lobs an ICBM at New York. Their call.

I remember back in '99 seeing a banner hanging in the Mesa, Arizona Boeing, AH-64 Factory for the Longbow Apache. It read "1000 More!". The US was buying along with the UK and Holland at $30 million a copy. We were trading a $16 million in on a rebuild of an A model. The Dutch and British were buying brand new Apache. That is a metric assload of war machinery in dollars. Before you add in parts and support. The shit has to be used so more can be sold. "Come on Marine, jump on the team and let's go for the big win!".

The operative words here are 'retired' and 'General'. The modus operandi is early onset dementia and a retarded cohort of deluded acting US ARMY Generals that all probably drink brewskies at the same bar. Americans talk up a game of war like it is a football game where everyone knows the rules. Stormin' Normin ran the first Gulf War exactly like a football game and even used football jargon on CNN. George W. Bush did the WANTED DEAD or ALIVE schtick on 911 on CNN. This is typical neocon bluster for the masses IMHO. It's either Texas cowboys or Knute Rockney All American, eh. Bottom line is that retired generals can spout off without fear of getting kicked down in rank and losing a job. In brief, retired generals cost the MIC nothing and they can float ideas of war without anyone getting suspect of admin.

WAR PIGS - BLACK SABBATH

Generals gathered in their masses,
Just like witches at black masses.
Evil minds that plot destruction,
Sorcerers of death's construction.
In the fields the bodies burning,
As the war machine keeps turning.
Death and hatred to mankind,
Poisoning their brainwashed minds.
Oh lord yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away,
They only started the war.
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor.

Time will tell on their power minds,
Making war just for fun.
Treating people just like pawns in chess,
Wait 'til their judgment day comes. Yeah!

Now in darkness world stops turning,
Ashes where the bodies burning.
No more war pigs have the power,
Hand of God has struck the hour.
Day of judgment, God is calling,
On their knees the war pig's crawling.
Begging mercy for their sins,
Satan laughing spreads his wings. Oh lord yeah!

"Russians don't take a crap without a plan, son". - The Hunt for Red October.

These fuckwits that are in charge now don't realize that they are dancing to a plan formulated long ago for just such a contingency. The Russians already knew what NATO and the US were planning. It really doesn't take that much brainpower to figure it out. After all, it was spelled out in Brzezinski's book.

The sad part is that a lot of people, possibly the world, will have to die for these fucktards to realize their mistake.

The retired general is one tough guy. And it’s interesting how he symbolizes the mindless stupidity of a mechanical weapon so often found in the hands of politicians who use it to create war and to slaughter innocent people by the millions.

The general is a funny man and the Russian haters, present on Fox, can chuckle along with him. The joke, however, is the general, an incredible disgrace to the uniform he wore, a nd to his vast ignorance that American foreign policy was to be directed by elected civilian officials, not bloodthirsty idiots.

“What is happening across the ‘Arc of Conflict’ that now takes in the Middle East, the Horn of Africa and North Africa (and penetrating ever deeper into the African continent) is almost beyond description.

“It is a madhouse engineered by the most ‘advanced,’ ‘sophisticated’ and 'enlightened’ 'democratic’ governments in the world. They have gone into country after country and reduced them to howling chaos ----Syria, Iraq, Somalia, Libya (and the countries now groaning from the knock-on effects from these inhumane interventions, such as Mali, Nigeria and Kenya).

“They do it for profit. They do it for the political and personal (and who knows, the psycho-sexual) aggrandizement of the pathetic wounded souls who spend their days climbing the blood-greased pole of power. (And who are then cheered and served by the even more pathetic lickspittles in our national media and political circles.)

“None of it----not a single bit of it----is related in the slightest way to the peace, prosperity or ‘national security’ of the people they purport to represent.” ----Chris Floyd

I think the only way that people in this country start to demonstrate and put an end to this kind of nonsense is to bring back the draft.  It's far too easy for the people of the US to justify sending people off to war when it's an all volunteer army.  "This is what they signed up to do" lets the rest of the population off the hook for even thinking about what's going on.  If you brought the draft back and kids in the families of these armchair generals that think this general isn't going far enough might have a few second thoughts if little Johnny or Julie was set to eligible for the draft at their next birthday.

I have no doubt they are leaning on every puppet like Nuland and most of Congress  to fire up the rhetoric as Kerry announced we must negotiate with Assad and Ukraine slipped away also.

Major General Scales will be on Meet the press with John McCain ...I can't wait. The last visit with McCain was when he said that he was ashamed to be an American and ashamed of himself. I thought....I can agree with the second statement. I am ashamed of McCain too. Anyone that sells out to Netanyahu and the military industrail complex and Israels constant insecurities that are self inflicted...I would be ashamed too. And guess what..Now we have Scales to add to this big embaressment. What kind of message is this sending to our allies? These outbursts to Fox news? A scam sheet owned by one of the most idiotic humans on earth that wants to weild power over all the world. The world is looking at a country that is coming apart at the seams. How can they trust us now for any type of solid diplomacy.?

What an asshole. If Russia puts him on an Interpol wanted list he won't be able to vacation to other places either. I won't come to that he will be arrested and extradicted to Russia but it would be fun to watch.

Wesley Clark when he bombed Serbia over Kosovo almost started WWIII when a Russian military unit went from Bosnia to 'secure' Pristina airport in Kosovo. He sent the now British singer James Blunt who was then a captain in the British army to confront them. Blunts  superior called Clark and told him "I am not going to start WWIII for you". Clark shortly after was sent into retirement. But we don't need to worry about him because he has business interest in Kosovo now. Because war is a racket.

Comments like these are inflamatory to a degree that is immeasurable. Should we be listening to EX-generals when former world leaders like Gorbachev's comments a few weeks ago are so chilling?... there is a huge danger in the area of the Ukraine that war is not only possible but probable. Gorbachev warns that not only conventional war is possible, but nuclear war. It is a scary proposition...

I wish this fucking thing would just collapse already so I could move on with my life.

As someone is who in their mid 20s and has been "awake" since I was about 16..if any of you older heads spent any time at any US state school college campus you'd realize we're fucked as a nation.

It was bad when I was in college a few years ago and it's even worse now. The younger generations are so dumbed down it's not even funny.

The middle class of tomorrow is going to be highly educated Asians and Indians..you know..the ones who manage to get STEM degrees and get good jobs.

Johnny sixpack studying business management isn't going to be making any decent money unless he comes from a well to do conservative WASP family.

In case the Europeans would have reacted to the countless violations of international law by the US as strongly as the western community has reacted to the annexation of the Crimean by Russia the US embassies in Europe would meanwhile be closed, the TTIP would be off the table and Apple products were blacklisted in Europa. It is this application of morale double standards which renders the western position unethical and uncredible. This warmongering by US individuals such as active and inactive generals and this infamous Victoria Nuland should cause Europe to distance itself from America with a clear and distinct voice. Unfortunately Europe's leaders are stupid but they do not have the support of the people in that matter. It is not unlikely that the success of left and right wing parties shall be accelerated by the resulting dissatisfaction of the electorate.

The very real danger for the lives of Americans is this.

Those running the country, making the decisions of life and death on a global scale have no nationality. They live and move anywhere they wish, control their wealth and power no matter where they are.

Thus the safety of American citizens from war and or economic destruction is not their main priority. Their prime priority to maintaining and increasing their own global hegemony of power and wealth.

These people will plunge Europe into war if they feel it helps them, regardless of lives or if it comes to American soil with nuclear devices, because they know that they will always be totally safe.

As regards all of this, we are not dealing with politicai, economic or sociological situations here. These are all surface distractions. We are dealing with serious problems in the realm of the spirit and the human mind. There will never be peace, and the required conditions where civilization can steadily grow and prosper, until we can remedy the situation of diseased beings and minds. We need a technology for DETECTING sociopaths and psychopaths so that we can PREVENT them from occupying heads of state and other high government and military positions. And, high positions in large banks and multi-national corporations as well. This is the important task at hand... our duty. We need sane, benevolent, survival-oriented and future-oriented individuals in these positions if mankind hopes to continue to exist on this planet. The enemy, the true target, is insanity (aka evil or destructive intentions). Locating the source of insanity is our challenge. Psychiatry, psychology, psycho-analysis and all the other existing "mental sciences" have failed us long ago. They are all shams (never have presented a workable solution). This is the real war that we all need to fight and win. The biggest task that has ever befallen mankind. We either solve this or we will go the way of the do do bird.

No need to insult me just because you have a different viewpoint than I. My belief is that we need good leaders and organizers in many areas in order to have a prosperous and evolving society. It isn't about power it is about responsibiiity and everyone carrying out specific duties. That is what makes a good society: responsible citizens. The common man: working, raising and protecting a family, etc. does not have the time to devote to activities like this. To me, having no leaders or organizers would equal chaos.
