Caught On Tape: State Department's Psaki Smirks About US Policy Supporting Coups

In case you weren’t aware, Venezuelan authorities recently accused the U.S. of attempts to overthrow its government. In a press conference, U.S. State Department spokeswoman, Jen Psaki, vehemently denied such claims and then went ahead and spouted talking points so ridiculous, only a complete ignoramus could believe them. She said:
As a matter of long-standing policy, the United States does not support political transitions by non-constitutional means.
Interesting, because it seems to me that the primary role of U.S. foreign policy throughout my lifetime has been specifically to initiate political transitions by non-constitutional means.
The line was simply too much to bear for some members of the press. One guy in particular, incredulously asked her to elaborate on her definition of “long-standing” in light of the historical reality that the U.S. government has been constantly involving itself in coups all over the world, particularly in Latin America.
What’s even more amazing than the fact that the “authorities” remain so willing to publicly spout such easily disprovable propaganda, is her reaction once see realizes she’s been caught. She backpedals and squirms, but the most disturbing thing is you can see a subtle smirk come across her face. She knows how ridiculous the statement is and can’t keep it together once she’s called out. I guess coups are funny to people in power. To those victimized by them, not so much.
Watch the clip below, and pay particularly close attention to Jen Psaki’s face from around the 57 second mark. She’s clever enough to quickly try to cover it up with a joke.

This may come as a major disappointment to those whose lives revolve around facing Puti five times a day, and feeding off of anger and bitterness towards a select few either in government or of a particular 5000 year old religion, so the faithful might want to stop reading here. The reality of US “involvement” in Ukraine is a far cry from what most here have come to believe. Though none of you will admit it, you are sheeplekovs, every bit as much under the influence of some combination of PutiPorn and Internet Gurus as the Idol, Dancin’ and MSM-watching folks you live to disparage.
Here’s the shocker: the US knows Puti will eventually get, if not all of eastern Ukraine, at least a land bridge from Rostov (you know Rostov…that’s where there has been a marked jump in “training accidents” involving the Russian military, leading to an upsurge in body bags being returned to Russian families) to Russian naval port facilities in Crimea.
US policy is made almost exclusively by Susan Rice and Valerie Jarrett, and neither of them has much of a grasp on the fine points of international matters, despite their enhanced resumes that suggest to the gullible something otherwise. Anyone looking either to find fault with recent US policy, or even attempt to understand it, need look no farther than those two. It appears jumbled and disjointed because it is, which is to say because they are in way over their heads. Neither of the two has much interest in Ukraine. SecState Kerry, for his part, plays like he does, but he is just a clown, hoping something he will do somewhere might get him a Nobel Peace Prize. He can be easily dismissed as having any impact on anything, other than perhaps sharing Botox tips with Puti.
Of course Puti got the whole thing in Ukraine off to a strong start because, as a former KGB case officer and later Chief of the KGB Propaganda Department, he knew how to pull the chains and control the narrative amongst his aficianados. His selective and quote-mined release of the tapped phone conversation between State Department bureaucrat Victoria Nuland and metrosexual US Ambassador Geoff Pyatt controlled the narrative amongst the denizens of the internet and continues to do so amongst the easily fooled. Most reading this far no doubt will chant “$5 billion!”, trying to connect dots between a fiat number and Yanukovtch’s ouster. Puti certainly got you by the short hairs there.
In reality, Nuland’s use of $5 billion referred to the total US aid given Ukraine since its independence from Russia in 1992. The funds were used for, inter alia, weapons destruction, environmental clean-up, infrastructure improvements, social welfare and repayment of certain debts. Those sums were handed out during periods when Ukraine had leaders favorably disposed toward the US, and at times when Ukraine’s leaders were not so favorably disposed. Averaged out over the term, the aid amounts to about $18 million per month, which is around a quarter of Ken Griffin’s after tax monthly take home pay. Anyone who believes that projected aid package led to Maidan and to Yanukovtch’s downfall not only has no respect for Ukraine’s people (believing they can be bought for less than a US Congressperson), but also must have a 1980’s turbo charger (with all that lag) in his current automobile (if US policy took 22 years to get boost).
The fact that a bureaucrat and a career Ambassador (career types get unimportant posts, while FOTOOs ---Friends of the Oval Office---get prestigious postings like Paris, the Court of St. James, Vienna, etc.) were at the forefront of the US’ small show of support indicates the degree to which Rice et al considered Ukraine a top priority (Not!).
As hard as it might be for many of you to accept, reality is quite a bit different from what your Internet Gurus of the Streaming Lame Media, or RT and RTHedge, have led you to believe. For example, Nuland is a petty bureaucrat. She has no budget authority and certainly no mandate for covert action. Ever since the Church Commission, even those agencies with such a mandate must get a Presidential Finding before engaging in any untoward behavior, and they must inform SSCI and HSCI, where staffers feel a sort of professional obligation to leak it to the press. By the way, those acronyms are pronounced “sissy” and “hissy”, which seems entirely appropriate.
Of course Administrations are of the belief that the US is supposed to take a stand in geopolitical events, so it did re Ukraine. The stand was to gather support for sanctions against Puti. The Administration thus looks like it is doing something, and Congresspeople can either voice their approval or demand more action, depending on how much they think Ukraine might be a hot button election or re-election issue, or get them face time on the networks.
What is surprising to anyone who actually has access beyond reading blogs and the rants of Internet Gurus, is how little the US has actually gotten involved in Ukraine. There is endless debate about supplying arms to Ukraine, but this is more posturing and a negotiating tactic than a real intent, which is why it is taking so long. Maybe it eventually happens, maybe not. As for all the claims of alphabet involvement, either from the beginning or today, that is laughable. Generally various arms of the USG respond to new crises by establishing “Working Groups” or “Task Forces”, after having completely missed the evolving event. None has yet to be formed pertaining to Ukraine, even after one year. What has been posted, reposted, linked, and re-linked on the internet is just some combination of nonsense pulled from the backsides of the Internet Gurus, or else it is surreptitious efforts by Puti’s regime to play to his own populace or to the anger and bitterness-needing crowd in the West, such as the vocal membership of this website. Of course that stuff works because the gang here refuses to bring the same skepticism to the internet or to Puti that it brings to the MSM or USG. It works in Russia because Puti owns or controls virtually all of the Russian media, and also closely monitors all internet activity. What Puti and the Internet Gurus produce fills a need or is completely controlled, so it is never questioned. Also, “believers” fall on to the illogic of saying, “Well, it fits what they (USG, alphabets, etc.) have done in the past”, when almost all of these “past” actions were equally false. Thus, “logic” is new false assumptions built upon previous false assumptions. It becomes a series of Potemkin Links, spiced up with buzzwords such as “false flag”, “limited hangout”, and “psy-op”. And admit it: most of you just love that stuff. It allows you a moment's relief from the pathos of your own useless existence.
Eventually the current sanctions coalition will fail, as French farmers and German factories miss the Russian business, and Puti will be free to take his land route to Crimea. Even Rice and Jarrett know this, which is why they have given Ukraine short shrift. If the US has any policy at all, it is merely to slow Puti’s Sherman-esque March to the Sea in the offhand hope that domestic issues or his own Napoleon Complex might derail him. Puti may or may not decide he wants the rest of Ukraine, as well as Belarus, Estonia, and the Stans, actions that might result in re-imposed perfunctory sanctions (but probably not). Puti’s battle, at least his major adversaries, will not come from the West, but rather from within. Despite his current (claimed) popularity, the guy may not know when to stop. That he hangs a picture of Nicholas II on his office wall is significant. What is driving him might one day result in one too many body bags and one too many Anna Politkovskayas. After all, there are only so many folks from the Caucuses who can be blamed before doubt sets in. One day Puti might even get Ceaucescu’d.
Puti has many character flaws which may eventually lead to his downfall. The US and the West can be patient; in fact, they should be patient. Sadly, patience isn’t something major nations often practice, though with the exception of the sanctions, the West has been pretty patient so far regarding Ukraine. Historically, had the US ignored the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the Afghans still would have prevailed, just as Afghans prevailed in previous Russian and British ventures onto their turf during The Great Game, and as the US is learning (slowly) now. In addition, perhaps al Qaeda and its message would not have resonated amongst disaffected Moslem youth, and the group that rose because of a failure to finish the game in the 1980s might have evaporated. Similarly, had the US ignored Vietnam, the country would have reunited a decade earlier, and it still would have morphed into the nascent capitalist country it is today. Had the US not invaded Iraq on what Cheney et al knew full well were false pretenses (intel had concluded that the odds of WMDs were so long as to be dismissible), Saddam may well have fallen to the Arab Spring and ISIS may never have formed. With those disasters as backdrop, it is wise that the US is pretty much allowing Puti to hang himself from his own petard today.
And while all this plays out, the patient and ever-smiling Chinese keep a greedy eye on eastern Siberia and its resources.
Yes, this is all quite cynical. A cynical eye is better than a conspiratorial one, because though this will be at odds with what so many here need to believe, there are no superhumans. Events play out not through so much malice aforethought as they do abject incompetence. None of us is anywhere near as competent as we'd like to think, and a 7 billion person planet, with a plethora of belief systems, cultures and ideologies is simply too complex and complicated for any human or group of humans to control to any appreciable degree. Conspiracies make for entertaining blog reading, Hollywood B-fare and pulp fiction, but reality is a whole 'nother ballgame, interesting in its own right but not anywhere near as nefarious. Jarrett is a political hack, concerned first and foremost with securing long-term control for her friends and cronies of the Democratic party.
