Putin Reappears, Puts 40,000 Troops On Full Alert As Part Of "Snap-Readiness Exercises"

Tyler Durden's picture

After disappearing for ten days from the public's eye, theories surrounding his absence ranged from the tabloidy (fathering a baby with a Russian gymnast), to the trivial (lower back issues), to the bizarre (another putsch in the Kremlin), to the idiotic (dead). All that can be cast aside when moments ago we learn that the Russian president simply wanted some time away and has now reappeared for his meeting with the Kyrgyz president. From Bloomberg:

  • PUTIN ARRIVES FOR MEETING W/ KYRGYZ PRESIDENT IN ST. PETERSBURG

And for those who desperately need photographic evidence here it is:

Putin take on the rumors:

That settles that, at least until the next rumor.

But while Putin may have kept a low visibility profile, he was very well heard, and as reported earlier today, the Russian president ordered nearly 40,000 troops in northern and western Russia to be put on full alert early Monday as part of snap-readiness exercises, official news agencies quoted Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu as saying.

According to the WSJ, the maneuvers are the latest in a series of such checks in recent years and follow dozens of military exercises conducted over the past year since the start of the Ukraine crisis.

The military exercises announced on Monday involve Russia's Northern Fleet, as well as airborne and other troops in the west of the country. The main focus is to test readiness in the Arctic, where Russia has expanded its military presence in recent years, officials said. The exercises are scheduled to continue through to March 21.

"New challenges and threats to military security require further increases in the military capabilities of the armed forces and special attention to the newly formed strategic group in the northern direction, " Mr. Shoigu said.

Many more to come:

  • RUSSIA TO HOLD CONSTANT UNPLANNED MILITARY CHECKS: PESKOV

As the WSJ concludes, "western officials have criticized Russia's frequent exercises as threatening and provocative, a charge Moscow parries with its own allegations that military maneuvers near Russia's borders by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization are destabilizing." Oddly enough, they have nothing to say about NATO parking tanks and armors and various other weapons just feet away from the Russian border.

With U.S. macro-economic data continuing to decline, you have to wonder if the powers to be are using war with Russia as cover for the failure of Keynesian economics.

My biggest fear since quantitative easing was initiated in 2009 that we would fall back on war when it eventually failed.

For once, I truly hope I am wrong.

In reviewing the NATO website of member nations Ukraine doesn't appear on the 28 member list.

This generates three questions on my part;

1. Why is NATO inserting itself into the affairs of a non member country?
2. Who stands to benefit from this action?
3. Just who the fuck is the aggressor then?

It seems to me that NATO has outlived is usefulness and is trying to remain relevant and funded.

All that one needs to ask, when it comes to who the agressor is in Ukraine, are two questions:

  1. Who installed the resulting shill government, and who does that government support?
  2. Why/How is Hunter Biden (the VP's son) on the Board of Directors of the largest gas company in Ukraine?

No matter what people think about Russia, your last point should always be in the front of the brain no matter the government (quasi or not) body being discussed.  There is NO INCENTIVE WHATSOEVER to fix any problems once a bureaucracy set up to manage it or fix it or go to war with it or whatever.  You can't trust any information that comes out of that bureaurocracy ever...ever!  It has no incentive to to admit it isn't needed anymore.  And while we are talking about NATO here, extrapolate to other things like ACA for example or other large charities.  What happens to the people who make a living working for ACA if cancer is cured...or even just a few forms of it if they are the forms that kill the great majority of cancer sufferers?  What happens to DHS if al qaeda is eliminated (you create ISIS probably;-).  But you get the point?

Humans and the systems they create act upon incentives.  Why would any of these human organizations be any different?

Small detail:

Princip was born a Jew. He was a passionate proponent for the very Orthodox Christian Serbia; and appeared to have no religious convictions of any sort that could have significantly altered his political convictions and led him to assassinate the archduke.

Princip, however, did display the same type of frustrations and desires to strike a blow against the established regime that Moslem youth in the United Kingdom display today.

You really shouldn't talk about stuff of which you obviosly know very little.

Muhamed Mehmedbasic was a Bosnian Muslim and a proponent of south slavic unity. Bosnian Muslims are NOT Ottoman Turks, but rather a slavic people (of mostly Serbian origin) whose ancestors converted to Islam during Ottoman rule. Bosnian Muslims were among the biggest supporters of Yugoslavia (while it lasted).

It's one thing to arm and  send young men to war but at least they have some form of self defense.

Not much that poor baby can do trapped in the womb of a selfish, crazed mother and surrounded by men with knives and vacuum cleaners.

Killing babies in the womb have to be at the top of the cowardly list. There are not words in any language that can properly describe the despicable act of babycide.

The assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand was the tripwire to ignite WW1 which was meticulously planned by central bankers years earlier. There were 8 Black Hand masonic assassins in Sarajevo that day, and they kept shooting and missing AFF for two hours. By the sheerest coincidense AFF did not have his regular driver that day, so instead of his driver seeking shelter after the first volley he kept driving around.

Princip was just a punk who came along with the others, but he was armed. He came out of a cafe just as AFF's car passed and was astonished to see him still alive. He drew and shot, and the war was on. He was caught but in a twist of irony he was not hanged because AFF forbade any underage criminal to face capital punishment.

Get back to earth. This is not 1978. Communism kicked the bucket and that is fine.

It is all part of the restore a fabled past operation. Claiming communism/totalitarianism sends them back to the glorious days of their fabled past.

http://rt.com/politics/161084-duma-none-vote-russian/

Anybody from Chechnya on ZH ?

Do you have a point? Chechnyans voted in a referendum to be a part of the Russian Federation. Is that too democratic for you?

Hey thanks for voicing your opinions and thanks for the link.

I agree, interesting to have the option "none of the above",  coupled to a possible rerun of elections.  But it only seems to be at the municipal level.

I care little about comparisons with the USA.  Compare Russia that is to what it could be, please.  The USA -USSR dichotomy was possibly a large scale deception in any event.  And USA possibly one of the obstacles preventing Russia to become more democratic.

Chechnyans voted in a referendum to be part of the Russian Federation ?  After some of them had been killed in a war for independence ?  How cynical can it get ?  Was the referendum free and fair ?  And what was the outcome of that referendum ?  More than 98 percent ? ( like the to me not very credible result in Crimea ? ).  I know little about Chechnya, so please educate me.  As a matter of a fact I was speaking to a Chechnyan recently.  He said the current leader in Chechnya is completely bought by Putin.  Is that not the case ?  ( serious question )

You cannot exist as an individual.  It is physically impossible for a human baby to survive on its own after birth.  This dependence remains into adult life.  Think of all the tools you use, every day and ask yourself, did you make them?  Did you invent them? Did you teach yourself how to use them?  Did you create your own language to understand the world? That means you rely on others to survive... from birth.  Now, I am all for individual rights and I value the importance of individual effort and inspiration to further the self and society, but it is as groups that we survive and prosper.  I know this will likely cause you some discomfort and you will likely lash out at me but... I do what I can to help you understand the world :)

I like how you call my premise wrong... and dangerous (apparently, in your mind, I cannot hold my individually formed opinion because it messes with the collective reality of individualists... how's that for a mind fuck?).

The individual and the collective are part of the same whole, one cannot exist without the other, like ying and yang.  I know this is a difficult thing to perceive as they appear to be opposites.

It's a false argument. Did Indians invent the bow, the spear or fire? Did the Chinese or Egyptians or Romans? These things simultaneously occurred throughout the world which would indicate that everyone has the ability to think critically and problem solve, though not all choose to.

Further the child is the result of a willful joining of individuals to form a family. Are you equating the government or society as a whole as my parents or family?

I don't owe ANYTHING to anybody nor is my life somehow inexorably joined to everyone on earth. My parents taught me and they were actually married to each other and they actually were responsible for the raising and nurturing and training and educating of their creation not the state its organizations or its citizens.

Further your statement is wholly dangerous and asinine on its face. The next thing you'll say is I didnt build it etc. Allow me to ask you some questions do you own a home?
Does the door lock?
Why?

Why not throw the doors open and welcome everyone in, you didn't build it did you?
Do you know how to build anything?
Do you save money or have retirement account?
If so why?
Wouldn't it better serve the collective "group" to give your possessions to the collective that don't have as much as you?

As I said fuck you and your collectivist bullshit.

Mon, 03/16/2015 - 16:48 | 5895449 Terminus C
Terminus C's picture

Your passion for the subject clouds your comprehension of my message.  You are nothing without the collective, language, knowledge, everything.  The collective is nothing without the individual desires and talents of it members.  Read Adam Smith (the paragon of economic individualism).  He is talking about collectivism, for indivisualist reasons.  You fail to see that individualism and collectivism are like ying and yang, they are two parts of the whole and completely insepearable from each other.

You, also, falsely interpret my statement to mean that I seek collective control over the individual but no where in my original statement did I call for more government or even less individual rights.  There is power in both individualism and collectivism, the trick is to find the balance.

Mon, 03/16/2015 - 10:26 | 5894049 libertysghost
libertysghost's picture

So humans created all that stuff...and rear children...out of the kindness of their collectivist hearts?  Not out of incentives for them individually?  Even if that incentive, for a parent to raise a child, is just to enjoy the baby because they like babies...it's still an incentive (when actually there has long been a sort of "cupport me when I am old" incentive to having children anyway).

All of the things you cite benefited the people who created them at the time they did it and didn't stop then but are still being refined today...out of personal incentives.  How do you not see that and what fairy and rainbow land of collectivist utopia do you imagine we exist in (and have existed in forever apparently) on this earth?

Mon, 03/16/2015 - 16:53 | 5895473 Terminus C
Terminus C's picture

You did not answer my question.  Did you create any of the tools you use on a daily basis?  Individual incentive is a fantastic motivator and no where did I claim we should live in a communist utopia (as such a thing cannot exist, due to human nature).

I have clarified my position above to your individualist comrades, perhaps you can let go of emotion and obtain an open mind.

I think it's pretty obvious that the zionists finally assasinated Vlad were just doing final testing of his cybernetic replacement before they the finalalize the NWO.

That's not the real Vlad.

This guy is an imposter.

Zeroes, of all people, you should be the first to recognize that this is a massive conspiracy, the real Putin having already died by his own hand.

Obviously, Putin was busy causing Hillary's email problems, shooting cops in Ferguson, testing his typhoon 'weather gun' in the Pacific, eliminating soda from kids meals at BK, injecting formaldehyde into Lumber Liquidators flooring, and destroying the hoop dreams of dozens of American colleges...

US Profits From Global Conflicts, Wants Chaos in Europe - Swiss Expert

Unable to remain the top dog in international politics, the United States deliberately destabilizes its potential competitors by creating conflicts and fueling existing disputes in other parts of the world.

The United States is quickly losing its dominance in the international arena and that is why Washington deliberately tries to destabilize and crush any potential competition in other parts of the world, Lena Lio, a former Swiss politician and diplomat, expert on Russian studies, told newspaper 24 Heures.

The United States can no longer remain the only hegemon in the world, the position it has become so used to since the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of Cold War.

CIA wired $1 million to Al-Qaeda in 2010

According to The New York Times, the CIA wired $1 million to Al-Qaeda.

In the spring of 2010, Afghan officials concluded a deal with special services of the United States to release an Afghan diplomat, who had been held hostage by Al-Qaeda militants. The amount of the ransom was unaffordable - $5 million.

To obtain the money, the Afghan officials first looked into the secret fund, from which the US Central Intelligence Agency was funding Kabul on a monthly basis. Within a few weeks, they raised $4 million. The militants agreed to accept the remaining amount from the CIA through similar funds in other countries, the article says.

Noteworthy, the former leader of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, confirmed that the CIA was funding the presidential palace in 2013, Pravda.Ru reports.

Everyone knows that Crimea is Russian. Crimea has been Russian longer than California has been American. The majority of people in Crimea are Russian and overwhelmingly 97% voted to join Russia, which they wanted to do even back in 1994, but the government in Kiev prevented them from doing so. Of course they didn’t want to be controlled by the illegal, U.S.-funded junta in Kiev, instituted by political organizations given five billion dollars by Washington, as revealed by “fuck the EU” Victoria Nuland. Ukraine was broke, and political parties and organizations were vastly financed by foreign nations, (US & EU) which then encouraged them to foment a coup. The junta in Kiev then illegally deposed the democratic president, and then illegally deposed all of its governors. The Crimean’s had every right to secede.

Crimea was detached from the Russian Republic in 1954 by Nikita Khrushchev after a drunken dinner and given as a grand (but then empty) gesture to the Ukrainian Soviet Republic. Khrushchev was a Ukrainian Communist party boss who had participated in Stalin’s murder of 6-7 million Ukrainian farmers.

anyone who places one's trust in politician, renders that other person you are talking about immediately useless, as one becomes an idle idiot and therefore can't and won't take any action or personal responsibility for any matter necessary to bring about any change in the status quo.
