We suspect any second now, one (or all) of the exchanges will break as VIX just flash-crashed from 16 to 13.69...
We suspect it is some remnant of Quad-witching...
As is "normal" nowadays, VIX has ripped back up to 16 now...

It’s just a good thing that was just a simple system failure, not some evidence of malfunctioning manipulation.
A) Your username just flat out makes me uncomfortable.
B) To even suggest there could exist any market manipulation is crazy! Why, we have the SEC! And the big Banks! and the Gubmint! And the Fed! They're all looking out for us little folk to make sure we keep as much of that hard-earned money as possible and don't get ripped off!
Don't forget your local DA, AG and the DOJ! All here to make sure the banking cartel can loot to their hearts content.
My prediciton is the FED will NOT remove the word "Patient" from their statement and if they do it will be replaced by another word that means the same thing. They need to keep the stock market high. They have to keep that illusion of a fantastic economy going at ALL COSTS!!! The FED is a bunch of PHUCKERS!!

Yes, but not back up to it's pre-flash-crash level, you'll notice. That's how this shit works. You rip somebody's face off, they recover from the shock but they get just an itsy bit more gun shy about trying to move in the other direction again. Slam it, watch it recover 80%- dropping it right at the level you wanted it at in the first place.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
Anybody still trading these "markets" is out of their fucking mind. I wouldn't go near it. I have spent ost of my adult life in trading and I can tell you I am done. It's not the "risk" per se, it's the Corzining on a daily basis. Why fucking bother.

Obviously, it crashed because risk has been completely over-priced. How could there be any risk to equity prices falling when there is so much exogeneous demand and such a compelling future for massive profit growth amongst all publicly traded companies?

That was AMAZING, for like 60seconds USD droped 45%, Euro droped 55%, CHF went up 200%, PLN went up 100%, Gold droped 50%, Most emerging market currencties went up 100%
Weird that USD_Index went up 50% or so
%values are in comparision to PLN, and PLN in comparision to gold
Though i am imagining things but seems i am not the only one that saw the weird behavior in markets like 4h or 5h ago.

Common zerohedge...take a look at the methodology and how it is calculated. It is no flash crash and all the other posts of the vix are irrelevant as well. i have been able to alter the vix by putting a bid in an option with no bid so that a larger part of the vola smile is used in the calculation. It is not tradeable...it is a calculation. The real vix(option iv did nothing).
