De-Dollarization Accelerates As More Of Washington's "Allies" Defect To China-Led Bank

Tyler Durden's picture

The global de-dollarization trend continues as it appears the UK’s move to join the China-led Asian Infrastructure Development Bank has indeed shown other US “allies” that spurning Washington’s advice is actually acceptable and concerns about the institution’s “standards” may simply be a diversion aimed at undermining China’s attempt to exercise more influence in its own backyard. Here’s more from the NY Times

Ignoring direct pleas from the Obama administration, Europe’s biggest economies have declared their desire to become founding members of a new Chinese-led Asian investment bank that the United States views as a rival to the World Bank and other institutions set up at the height of American power after World War II.

The announcement on Tuesday by Germany, France and Italy that they would follow Britain and join the Chinese-led venture delivered a stinging rebuke to Washington from some of its closest allies. It also called into question whether the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, which grew out of a multination conference in Bretton Woods, N.H., in 1944 and established an economic pecking order that lasted 70 years, will find their influence diminished.

The announcement by Germany, Europe’s largest economy, came only six days after Secretary of State John Kerry asked his German counterpart, Frank Walter-Steinmeier, to resist the Chinese overtures until the Chinese agreed to a number of conditions about transparency and governing of the new entity. But Germany came to the same conclusion that Britain did: China is such a large export and investment market for it that it cannot afford to stay on the sidelines.

South Korea, another US ally that the Obama administration has not-so-subtly lobbied to stay out of the AIIB for the time being, is reportedly reconsidering a bid to join and although reports that Seoul had already committed to the venture appear to have been a bit premature, the country will make a decision this month and is expected to discuss specifics this weekend at a meeting with Chinese and Japanese officials. Here’s FT

The foreign ministers of China, Japan and South Korea will meet in Seoul this weekend for the first time in three years, in an effort to calm tensions in the region.

The trio have strong economic ties but frosty relations. International angst about this state of affairs among the regional superpowers has been further piqued by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, a Chinese-led initiative sparking alarm in Washington and proving divisive elsewhere.

Meanwhile, even Europe’s own “magical fairyland” is taking the plunge. Via Bloomberg:

China welcomes Luxembourg’s application to be a founding member of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, China’s finance ministry says in a statement on website.

And so, with the most European of European countries on the bandwagon, and with South Korea leaning unmistakably towards joining up, we say again

Bottom line: this isn’t theory or conjecture anymore. Every shred of objective evidence suggests that the dollar’s dominance is coming to an end.

Unfortunately the communist/fascist/cronies/oligarchs are already here, have been for quite some time.  They killed the last "elected" president in 1968 and untethered their ability to create all the paper they wanted in 1971.

Speaking for myself I want to see the collapse of the corrupt 1% oligarchy that currently owns, runs and loots America and its people. A catastrophic drop in living standards is the only thing that will activate the peons. That's my motivation anyway.

A collapse big enough to hurt the 1% kills most of a nation and with few exception the 1% remain the 1% albeit at a lower but relative value.

The Obama presidency's damage to the United States just continues to accumulate. You would think he'd care about this if he cared about the United States people but never a word from him on this subject. At this point you'd have to conclude this is what he wants to have happen. Which makes sense because he's felt all along the U.S. has had too much power globally and needed to be taken down a notch.

Loss of "world reserve currency status" will quickly cause the standard of living of 99 percent of Americans to plummet 25%., or more  The follow-on to that will be that Americans will realize that all the incresed productivity they have created over the last 25 years through working longer hours with no benefits and negative real wage increases was stolen by the 1$ "elites".  DHS and fully militarised local police departments have been created to deal with the rage that awareness engenders in the population and have nothing to do with the phony bogeymen and homegrown "terrorists" invented by 24/7 media propaganda.  Will it work?  Will the criminal cabal actually get away with the wholesale impoverishment of 250 million plus Americans??

No.

They already have gotten away with it. They committed genocide against White Americans by illegally flooding our nation with uneducated, hate filled foreigners that get immediate Affirmative Action and all the welfare they grab. On the higher end of the job scale, say STEM jobs, that Mark Faceberg keeps blathering about, they forced the American IT to train their Indian replacements or be fired with no unemployment. Walmart has been doing this for years and so have many other large companies. We are getting replaced, impoverished and still have lots of dumb, freightened,"folks" afraid to say a word, because they might get called a, "Raciss". They'd rather feed their kids into the ovens than be called a , "raciss".

2. Companies willing to take inexperienced graduates for a 1/3 of what he was making. Low cost newbies trumped experience in the race to the bottom. Squeeze max productivity out of the newbs to make up the difference

Reduced to driving a school bus for $28k a year

All so Lloyd and Jamie Cufflinks can have another vacation house and yacht

I wish I shared your conviction that the productive class of real Americans will rise up against the cabal, but I fear they've been 1) bought off with "free" stuff, 2) afraid of losing their supposedly upcoming gov-funded retirement, 3) fearful of change (the status quo may not be good, but its better than ....).

I was reading, last night, about the gutsy men and families that trudged into the unknown during the frontier days.  Sure there was a lot of graft, murder, stealing, etc., but families still settled and made a life in hard circumstances, believeing and believing and believing that tomorrow would be easier or at least more stable.  They didn't have a safety net.  They didn't scream "racism" when they weren't as successful as others, or as they hoped to be.  They just kept plugging.  Hoping.  Beating the odds.

Where are these people now?  I'm one of them, and I'm sure you (reader) are as well, but I can't see a path toward combining our gutsiness and self-reliance into a true, revolutionary movement.  And until that path is clear, we'll scribble on ZH, go to sleep restlessly and wonder how we'll protect our kids from the economic, political and social denouement.

I simply don't get what is going on. Why is the dollar strengthening when the fed has made it clear that the economy is still weak and that interest rates are not going to rise in the foreseeable future? Are they hinting at another QE?

In times of panic money goes to wherever people consider it to be safe. As more money is placed into us dollars and companys the value rises, wherein lies the unintended consequences, as the dollar rises, exports become dearer and dearer untill no one can afford to buy them so seek alternatives that are cheaper. Business then declines people are laid off and the country ends up with mass unemployment, ,,are you starting to get the picture now. Remember this, for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction. This is commonly reffered to as Newton's Third Law of Motion but has many applications. Legal Tender laws are the key to how the gov forces the People to trade their labor and assets for a currency that is printed from thin air.  Why is a law like that not a clear violatiion of the 5th amendment which does not allow a "taking" without value?  .  It was a court packing scheme they "forget" to teach us in their government schools.

I don't believe Obama is the problem. I believe this goes back to the 2010 IMF Code of Reforms refusing to be passed by Congress. It is primarily a group that is controlled by banking interests to refuse to balance world currencies and remove US veto power. China is a primary driver to these reforms. The best I can tell is Obama has been trying to get Congress to adopt the Code or Reforms.

When the BRICS and other nations came to the conclusion the IMF was not going to be changed, they headed off in their own direction. Since this has been going on for years, I would bet China now wants a greater position than they did in 2010.

Top US Commander Under Arrest For Refusing To Fire Nukes At Russia

A new report circulating in the Kremlin today prepared by the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) for the Ministry of Defense (MoD) states that President Barack Obama’s nuclear war communication commander has been arrested and relieved of her command after failing to transmit launch codes authorizing an atomic weapons first-strike attack upon the Federation in coordination with a similar “surprise” attack planned by the United Kingdom.

According to the SVR, US Navy Captain Heather E. Cole [photo 2nd left] was the commander of the US Navy's Strategic Communications Wing 1 located at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma whose E-6B Mercury aircraft provide the communications links allowing President Obama and US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter to directly contact the submarines, bombers and land-based missiles that comprise the United States strategic nuclear force.

"other institutions set up at the height of American power after World War II"

One reason the US is so desperate to spread chaos and destroy nations is because the Washington DC elite can sense the American Power that the US wielded after WW II is slipping away. The great victory of ending the USSR did not deliver the result hoped for. WHY? Because just as the USSR died, China exploded onto the scene. Soaking up America's industrial base, and soaking up 2 centuries of western technology in a decade! While the US should have been all powerful in the 90's, China stood up just as the USSR stood down. And the threat was now worse. The USSR posed NO threat to the American economic rule. But China did, and does! Thus the anger over Europe signing up for the new Asain investment bank, a bank that the Russian Federation will be a powerful member of, and a member the USA can not sanction within the bounds of that bank. Do you see how this frightens Washington DC?  With Asian trade and banking associations growing more powerful and Russia a fonding partner in them, the USA loses it's sanctions power, it's power to close down credit lines.

Since Washington's economic power and it's dollar hegemony is now under direct threat, the US will use the one tool it has that is nearly all powerful. The US Military and the giant US Spy complex.

This complex is destroying Ukraine. They shot this liberal Russian politican in hopes of spuring the beginning of a Moscow Maidan. Study up on his killing! Then study up on CIA hits in the past, using their own men, and foreign proxies. Ukraine is all about getting Russia into a shooting war with NATO. Both NATO and RUssia would be destroyed. That leave the untouched USA in charge there, and free to make the giant military and spy shit to the east, to confront China.

I feel about 75% certain that the above scenario goes a long way to explaining the US militaristic actions. Perhaps I am wrong, these are other factors I do not have knowledge of. But my best guess is what I wrote above. Please add to it, if you know more and think it is important to US actions in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Kosovo, Ukraine, Georgia, the Baltics and Poland.

Thu, 03/19/2015 - 14:15 | 5906874 rejected

Agree with you as usual except for the following minor differences. The outcome will be as you describe no matter what. That liberal Russian pol was most likely hit by a u.s intel agency. They have/had the most to gain but were too obvious about it. The new CIA isn't near as crafty as in the past. I think the morbid u.s educational system is rearing its ugly head. Just look at the mass stupidity of the u.s foreign policy. Reminds me of the old westerns on TV where you could figure out the plot in 30 seconds...

IMO the production and technology was handed to the Chinese on a silver platter by the u.s government. The u.s government actually funded much of the transfer. Could have been stopped immediately with tariffs and other import taxes.

I think this was planned and executed by the corporations looking for more profits and government looking for a friendly Asian partner. The Chinese smiled and said thank you, while building up their strength. Now with most of the worlds production originating there,,, the Chinese are making their move. The West managed to create the monster that will destroy them, whether on purpose or not.

Actually it is obama's fault because from 09-11 he had full veto proof rule over congress. The democrats had super majorities in both houses of congress and therefore had every opportunity and power to correct this matter.

Not to mention that the big banking interests come mostly from the democrat party.
